Build thread

Someone's selling an i7 2600 with gtx 1050 ti and 8gb ram for $300 near me, should I grab it?

Yeah sure if you want to be retard

explain?

this

I mean that's a full build for the price of a 1060

Not bad, this is a better price/performance than consoles. If I were you I would pay a bit more and get an rx580 or 1060, any i5/i7 2nd gen and over will do the job.

Invest another $100 and you'll have a significantly better system

>Need to upgrade a relatively old computer.
>It has an FM2+ slot so I grab an Athlon x4 845
>Pop it in to the motherboard
>Fans whir
>Hard drive comes on
>Monitor is blank
>System does nothing
I feel sad. Tried updating the BIOS but I got no dice, not yet anyway.

>CPU from 8 years ago
no

no, the 2500k/2600 meme is dead

for 1050ti that's too much. i'd expect a 1060 6gb/580 8gb system for that much

A 1050 ti is a horrible GPU

An i7 2600 isn't a terrible CPU, but it's very old, doesn't even support AVX2.

Overall this is a waste of money.

You could get an RX580 and a Ryzen 5 2600 for $300, BRAND NEW, and this would be extremely more powerful.

1060 should be around $200 now.

That “8 year old CPU” can still beat even modern cpu’s in games when oc’d, although I personally wouldn’t go with the non-k model like the one in OP’s description. youtu.be/dn9EMlxdCrM

Based as FUCK

>youtube
>not the locked version
good try tho

2500s are only worth it is if you already have a buttload of DDR3 RAM on-hand already

A lower-end Ryzen is a better deal in the long run as games go more multi-threaded and focus less on single-core performance

based steve

Did you not read my post? I literally said the non-k version isn’t worth it.

>That “8 year old CPU” can still beat even modern cpu’s in games when oc’d,

It can beat $100 modern CPUs when overclocked?

Wow, what a deal!

No it's a horrible deal. That guy is basically trying to sell OP that CPU for $200

You can get a Ryzen 5 2600X for that price, and that's an EXTREME difference in performance, and not to mention AVX2 support.

Funny, just found someone selling a similar setup (gtx 1050ti, but ryzen 5 1600 and 16 gb ram) for 50 bucks more...better option?

Probably.

good luck finding a good binned 8 year old cpu lmao

I never OP’s build was worth it, but if you don’t have the money to fork out for a new platform then an older intel platform isn’t a bad choice if you purely want to game. This is coming from someone with an 8700k + 1080Ti rig, plus a 2700k with a z68 board/16Gb of ram system for $160.

My second PC has a used 2700k that has been running at 4.7GHz for years now, but you’re clearly delusional so this is the last (you) you’re getting.

OP is buying a 2600 not a 2600k user

No ones saying it's not still a capable CPU that you can game on.

We're saying it's a waste of money to pay anymore than $130 for a 2600k, and only because you don't want to upgrade your motherboard and RAM to DDR4.

Should I consider upgrading my 16 GB RAM to 32 or just save up for a new graphics card in 3 years?

Save for the graphic card

undoubtedly, depending on motherboard choice

graphics card

games won't require more than 16GB for another couple of years

Seller info says ASUS Prime B 350 Plus

and RAM and mobos grow on trees

Breddy gud
Just upgrade the GPU and maybe ram later down the line

Nigger you can buy both of those for $150 brand new

Where

I want to upgrade my low end not-really gaming computer from 2011 to one that's at least midrange as of last year or so, but I don't give a shit enough about piece-mealing it over a month or two. should I just find a suitable pre-built?

>RX580
that's more than 300 on its own

nobody should ever buy locked cpus for gaming in 2019.

sounds like a ripoff. i7 2600 cannot be overclocked and you should get a K series model because those can do 4.6ghz easily on a average mobo. 1050ti is much slower than a 1060 while the price difference isn't that much, and you can pick up 8gb of ddr3 ram for $25-30 now.

go for it

if you can buy a prebuilt you can more than likely buy a competitive or better set of parts and build it yourself (which is easy)

$300 Zimbabwe?

Dude just shoot him and take it.

lies they are selling off vega56 cards for 250-300$ and those beat 1070s and match 2060rtx

for $100-150 you can get a dell optiplex that has an i7 and 8gb of ram. just slap in a graphics card that doesn't blow out the 450w PSU (GTX 1060/1660) and you're good to go.

I havent even tried to overclock my 2500k. Im not upgrading till it dies

Don't know where you're shopping but I'm seeing those for $200 upwards

no

Then fuck off

ebay as of 1 minute ago.

You should overclock it. Sandy Bridge CPUs were made for overclocking due to the soldered IHS. You can reach 4Ghz easily on a crappy budget board.

That's got $100 shipping attached

shipping is $30 but that still puts it in the $100 range.

What do I do? Just increase voltage or something? I probably need a better cooler

Not based in the USA, my man.

>still use a sandybridge i5
>1060
>Still med-maxxing everything
1080 gaming is still the thrifty nifty

Attached: go.gif (480x320, 719K)

Just those or do they come with MB, PSU, case?

if you don't explicitly need 32gb ram for work purposes, 16gb is still plenty
out of my 16 I've never used more than 6

All included. Only need monitor and keyboard.

I don't understand all the different brands and model numbers for every individual piece that goes into a computer. I don't even know where to begin just picking the basic stuff out.

what are some good cheap canadian options?

That's not such a terrible deal. Can you talk him down 50 bucks?
Don't expect to play the latest and greatest at high details, plus it's a dead platform, so any significant upgrades mean new CPU + MB + RAM, but as a cheapo rig it's somewhat decent.

road trip over the border and buying US

yes, that's a good deal

I recently got given a 390x, but it doesn't work with my trashcan 1155 motherboard ie: it doesn't get past the splash screen because it isn't supported, what can I do besides selling it?

Did you hook it up right? Does it get enough power?

I am absolutely certain that the motherboard is responsible

is it worth getting an i3 in 2019?

considering that ps4 pro goes for 300$ ,it's worse and doesnt have piracy post 5.05 fw, it's a good deal
it'll net you 60fps at 1080p medium on titles like resident evil 2, dmcv, sekiro etc.

No.

what about i5?

> 1050 Ti
Why... This card is actually so bad. You could get an RX570 - 80 for almost the same price and it completely destroys it.
But since that's the only deal you have and it's relatively cheap, I guess why not.

Update mobo bios

Yeah, I figured. Gonna wait till I hear back from first since it seems better. Same deal as far as case etc. are concerned.

get a rx 570/580 with a ryzen 3 2200g

Absolutely fucking not, find some way to come up with at least 700$ more and find a mid range build to run with

>just stop being poor

Unironically, yes

stop being a neet and get a job for awhile, then you can go back to being a neet on your gaming pc, either that or you're underaged

how much do you meme lords make, paying a months rent for a pc isn't feasible for like 90% of people

I have a job, it just doesn't pay well.

I personally know several people on Yea Forums who cry about having shit computers and being poor, then they tell me about their cool new figma they just got they spent 200$ on

The problem is people do not know how to manage urges, save money and think like a fucking adult. I spent a YEAR slowly saving around a grand to buy a good mid range build, anyone here can do the same.

i got a summertime job after graduation from high school and saved up all the money to buy a gaming pc+monitor+new heaphones, mouse and keyboard, controller, I made about 900 bucks in 3 months in a 3rd world country
if you're a first worlder you can put aside atleast 100-200 bucks a month i assume

First, no you can't, the lower price i can find for a 1050ti is 180.
Second, even if you could find both the CPU and GPU at 150 each, congrats, now you have a CPU and a GPU for 300.
To bad OP has the same CPU and GPU plus a mobo, ram, and case, for the same price.

That's nice, but some of us have to pay rent and stuff too.

>1050 Ti
topkek

Alright, give me money.

Yes. That's a fucking steal.

>dell optiplex
nice meme, /g/

What's the best gpu for less than 300 Yea Forums? And how are the 1660s?
