within the first 3 days it was out Yea Forums was already saying how much of a letdown it was with some even being able to give points similar to what Matt would make later on
all he really did was add more of why the game just didn't work from a design standpoint, the framework was already there and he just expanded on it

I'd say it's the only game that actually delivers on the whole "world full of creatures that behave like actual live animals with their own routines and objectives".

At first it just seems boring and samey with lizards eating you in one bite and not being able to do much about it, but then you start finding more and more creatures, and participate in some unscripted interactions that are more mindblowing than most cinematic games. And then you get gooder and learn that you don't get stronger because you catch upgrades but because you start gathering knowledge about your sourroundings and learn that EVERY SINGLE PIECE OF CRAP you find has one or several practical uses that can help you deal with everything. And then there's the exquisitely portrayed universe and lore, and then stuff actually happens when you thought it was all just going to be an interesting IA simulator on an interesting coat of paint.

It's just great, I don't know. I don't know how else to put it.

Couldn't be more wrong if you tried. Yea Forums was strongly disappointed with Ds2 and I'm one of the people who waited until the PC version came out. All I ever saw in those threads on release were people being mad and I thought it was just a case of sour grapes since PC players had to wait a month, then a month later I played it and I understood why people were mad. It was my MOST anticipated game at the time and it floored me by how bland and sleep inducing it was. All Matt's video did was put into concise words why people didn't like it.

Yeah he's really set apart from other gaming youtubers that way.
Some just play, some just cover gaming news, some aim for laughs.
