Cuphead is a thing. Really, make a MS with branching level pathways, a lot of co op and bonus challenges (like handgun only and forced 1CC runs), fun levels and bosses and I'm good. I don't expect pixel art but I'm fine as long as there's still plenty of animations, it's easy to read and the bosses are still insane.

If you take a dive into Metal Slug's concept art you'll realize Metal Slug's pretty flexible with what can be put into it. As it should be. It's got the supernatural, paranormal, silly animals.... And cute girls! You can put everything plus the kitchen sink into metal slug without really breaking it's aesthetic.

It was in the PS2 Nip and European stand alone versions of 3. Only reasons PS2 didn't get the port was because at the time Sony of America had a policy that a certain percentage/majority of a game had to be made in 3D unless it was some sort of collection/compilation then it could be all 2D up to a certain point. It's why in the US there was only the Xbox version of that and SvC chaos and nearly everything SNK released was some sort of collection, etc. Not only that, in japan some of the PS2 ports of their fighting games even had online.

There's the PS1 port of X which has it too along with a mode with a bunch of challenges. 7/XX has a more expanded version as well including what's basically the challenge mode from X all rolled into 1. 7 is out for DS and XX is out for PSP/Vita, PS4, and Steam iirc.

The first 3 and X are my favorites too with one coming out on top for me simply because of its atmosphere, but by the time two was made they were already fully integrated with SNK. Two was plagued with slow down up the ass and the first one's control were ass when compared to the entries after it. As MS games I'd say 4 and 5 are the weakest, but as games in general the post 3 games are fine. Some of the shit you niggers complain about like "hurr they changed the voices" of some of the future games are fucking minute in comparison to the shaky controls in 1 and the slowdown in 2. I'll admit I'm not as big on the background on the post atomiswave slugs as the ones on Neo Geo, but as slug games they're serviceable, I'd argue more than 4 and 5. Only reason 3 was the way it is is because they were dying and thought the company would never be back, so even if they did continue to be there I doubt the same team would be even be able to top that. That in itself does not make everything else shit. Even 7/XX was filled to the brim with content with its robust combat school that even tops the extras that the home port of X had. There's a reason one of the FG game streams with the most amount of views out there is a chink stream of 97, even tournaments were sometimes televised there.
In the end it doesn't matter whether they're owned by a chinese company over a mexican one. Especially since both populations for the most part would rather pirate the old neo geo games instead of buying some of the ports and throwing some change to the company that makes the games they love so much.

the wii version has waggling incorperated into most of it's control scemes and the flashing from when you shoot bosses was removed.
