No, really. Look at her default coding. If you glitch past where you name her, the game will default to Aerith.
The only place "Aeris" ever comes up in the entire game is her naming screen.

Of course, glitching past all naming screens causes Red XIII to just be called "Red" and Cloud to be called "Ex-SOLDIER". Take that however you want.

Yeah on the original version, you clearly aren't playing the modern platform version. You can get her from Limit Break 1 to 4 in 20 minutes using 3x speed with counter materia (others blocking), and infinite Limit Break options. Around Chocobo farm is best.

It influences your alignment. Default names for everyone makes you firmly Law (i.e. you will accept the terms the game gives you and adhere to them therefore you must be Law inclined), I'm pretty sure giving everyone custom names makes you Chaos for much the same reason and maybe a specific balance makes you Neutral or something.
The thing is your alignment is never displayed in-game and the first time I found out was when certain healing stations told me to fuck off and I couldn't fuse certain demons. You can fix it but it takes a fair bit of time and money, it's some serious bullshit.
