Doing an acid sentinel autoattacker
So far so good. About to reach ultimate.
Having two sources of resist reduction seems gr8 so far
At what level do you usually go in to ult?
Dunno, im reaching it for the first time.
Im currently level 50.
Build doing good. Still using 2 garbage greens i wanna upgrade, maybe then ill be finally able to hit that elusive 1 mil crit.
After the xpac those lvls are all over the place. Since now you can start in elite or ultimate even. I used to hit ult at around 60+ tho.
currenty playing a hardcore lightning shaman/inquisitor, but Im so low a level that just WOP spam is way faster. I also got bored because Ive done this shit so may times that I used grim defiler to give myself a briarthorn so I can have a pet follow me around. Honestly, Im just gonna finish the FG content and call it quits, I was dissapointed with Oathkeeper
Is the class not that interesting? I started a Soldier that I was going to turn into a warlord later but I might go Death Knight if it's not that great.
Not him but im enioying it. Shield throw skills feels good to use, the charge is nice cause it hits everything in its path, and the defensive stuff is great.
I like how the auto attack replcer skill can 100% convert physical to acid which makes it compatible with a few masteries that wouldnt otherwise work well
Legit every facet of oathkeeper is amazing.
yo how do I get my "provider" to update them "DNS records"
Alright, I'll go warlord. Thanks for the advice.
go to the forums and download the offline version bro
Is there any build that isn't just autoattacks and procs? Maximum I got was a lvl 30 warder but had some sustains, autoattack, a totem and a summon so it got boring
You start using more abilities at high levels, expecially because of items, sets, relics
>those nignogs nerfed my build in the latest my patch
fuck you niggers i just wont update the till im bored of it
Grim Dawn? More like Grim Yawn...
based
The Eldritch Sun is a flaming homo
grimtools.com
fixed up my build a bit, still need to get more resists
I might have jumped the gun on saying Soulfire wasn't doing much for me, I'm noticing a bit slower kills without it.
I'm level 60 and haven't finished normal
What kind of summoners does this game have? How viable are they?
Where's the patch notes?
That's normal if you do the roguelike dungeons and the expansions.
Id say the normal player finishes the base game level 40-50~ and then you can easily go to 60 with just AoM since it keeps scaling, idk about scaling in FG though.
S K E L L I N G T O N S
They are very good.
Post characters
Are they? Which classes are the best for being a skeleton summoner?
A unknown class called necromaner
I meant with Necromancer. Can't find really any builds on the Grim Dawn forums.
occultist
any build for oathkeeper fire damage retaliation with inquisitor, solidier or demo?
AHEM....
FUCK THE WITCH GODS
My new guy is at level 80, just 14 levels away from being able to put on his endgame gear. It's a slog, that's for sure.
Anyone here know where is the lore note Korvan Elegy part 2? I swear i've search every nook and cranny of the last boss dungeon and only found 1-3-4
According to Grimtools, it's in a secret area on the northwest side of the first floor of Tomb of the Eldritch Sun. It doesn't say where the breakable wall/entrance is, but now you know where to look.
I lost my saves and I don't feel like replaying whole game for the new expansion.
The witch gods did nothing wrong
>save little girl
>she starts killing people
>little girl
looks like someone got tricked
I deleted my saves and stashes so that I could start fresh.
Except the blueprints, I kept that, fuck farming blueprints
>not reading the note in the camp
Is there a better feel than mowing down cultists?
>SAVE ME KORVAAK
Like music to my ears
currently leveling my deceiver (inquisitor+occultist), a devout follower of the dead God (who did nothing wrong). It's surprisingly fun. Running Flames of Ignaffar with the 100% chaos conversion just engulf everything in crimson fire. Might not be as broken op as the oathkeeper builds but I enjoy some challenge, and with this one the challenge is gear (fire, chaos, resistances and leech) and positioning. I've tried other builds and if its too easy and/or braindead it gets boring real fast
Speaking of ultimate, an user said that it was basically either the enemies one-shot you, or you one-shot them, is that shit true?
So, what counts as beating the base game to unlock other difficulties?
I have beaten the act iv boss plenty of times and never unlocked anything
Also, does map exploration carry on to other difficulties
>save little girl
>she starts raping people
what god should I pray to to avoid this? Kymon?
Played some desert expansion. Builds in this game are extremely boring, no matter the class you pick you are a dude with a club who hits things.
All spells are secondary and passive. Still fun but for an action rpg it's extremely shallow
is there any build that doesn't just use "default attacks" with procs? I got a lot of items with +cold and frostburn stats and stuff, just started act 3 I think with my main (warlord), but it's getting boring just attacking things
What's a deep and complex ARPG for you then?
d3
I'm throwing knives
and i have this 2 suppor blade units
any thoughts what to do further on?
I was impressed by how malicious they made Korvaak feel
Even Chthon has somewhat of a reason for doing what it's doing but Korvaak felt like he was just a piece of shit through and through in all ways, like he didn't even have any reason to be the cruel cunt that he was, he just decided to do it anyway
>exiled guy travelling through the desert with his donkey is about to die and begs for salvation, offer it to him but demand he kill the trusted animal as payment
>guy now living quietly in oasis asks you to find him a companion, go above and beyond and get him a squeeze just because you know you can fuck him over harder that way
>next time he asks for your favour remind him that he sill hasn't paid up from last time and kill his wife and kid before killing him
Every one of those cultists are just useful idiots to him and you still hear them screaming out for him to save them, but even if he actually did there'd probably be a price they wouldn't be able to pay attached
Did they actually fix the black screen error when you try to start up the game?
If you're playing Mc Squishy Burstmaster of course it's gonna be like that. The whole game is doable in hardcore so no it's not like that for every class and build.
yes
Most of the fun in this game is the builds themselves, items, devotions, skills, just like Diablo 2. You think people would play Hammerdin without Enigma? Someone had to come up with it, same here.
It's the complete opposite of D3, where you're pingeonholed into Blizzard Approved(tm) builds by virtues of the ridiculously OP sets.
Quit to menu and change difficulty there
sets are indeed a problem but in d3 classes actually feel and play differently.
builds in gd are too chaotic, a +10 to attack means nothing in the long run.
d2 had this system indeed but it was deemed archaic and rightly so
Stop making shit up or learn how to read.
thanks for the bumps now fuck off
>it was deemed archaic
literally only by d3 which is made to appeal to retards.
Deemed archaic by whom? Casuals?
There's a reason why Diablo 2 will be remembered and Diablo 3 will be forgotten.
There's a reason why Guild Wars 1 will be remembered and Guild Wars 2 will be forgotten.
The depth of these games would leave you in awe, the combinations were endless. D3 and GW2 is like playing in a beautiful sparkling puddle when you used to play in a deep and murky ocean.
Wow you... did not read a damn thing, did you? Read some of the Forgotten Gods lore, go do the Kymon's Chosen story. Actually pay any amount of attention?
Not if you cap your resistances. It helps to have other defenses, but anyone getting one shot probably has fuck all resists. Ultimate is balanced around having capped (80%) resists. To give you an idea of what that means. 100 damage vs 0 resist = 100 damage. 100 damage vs 80 resist = 20 damage. By having 0 resist you are taking 5 times the damage you should be. And if you're in ultimate with no resists, that number will be in the negatives; much lower than 0.
t. butthurt Kymon's puppies
The virgin Korvaak needs a god of fire to guard his ass while he tries to control a single nation and gets his powers stolen by his own watchdog and two humans.
Meanwhile the chad Empyrion just vanished to go do gods things leaving all of Cairn without his guidance because why the fuck would he care.
I am currently playing a build using Occultist's Bloody Pox + Fevered Rage (gives the enemy +150% total speed). I can survive just fine on everything but the bigger bosses with that debuff on, my gear is poop, some of my resists are low (50ish) and I'm only in the 80s; You can survive in Ultimate if you build for it.
>doubling down
Korvaak was Empyrion, sort of. Korvaak is the Sun God. Korvaak pretended to be Empyrion to trick the fools into setting him free. Due to the betrayal of the Witch "Gods", he is a sun god fueled by centuries of rage from being locked in the void. You do not kill Korvaak, you kill an avatar possessing a sliver of his power. Just a tiny sliver that managed to escape his prison.
>retard that can't read attempts to talk about lore
lol
>Korvaak was Empyrion, sort of.
They were brothers.
Yes, but the Empyrion that guided Kymon's Chosen, at least in the era the game takes place in, is Korvaak. I know the higher ups know they follow Korvaak, but I believe there's another bit of lore where Kymon believes he was guided to Korvaak by Empyrion.
I believe there's also a dialogue option with Mordrogon if you're a part of Kymon's Chosen where he is surprised that a living mortal would know that name, as Empyrion had been missing for a very, very, long time. 'though its been a while since I've seen it and my memory can be real shit for things like this.
Korvaak is a god, same race as Empyrion, not clear what exactly they are but they are in the top. The Witch Gods did not make Korvaak weak like he his when we beat him, all of Korvaak race was beaten by something, that's why Empyrion left. While Korvaak was recovering from his injuries from this great god war the Witch Gods took the opportunity to attack him and steal the eldritch powers for themselves. What we fight in the game is a weakened from the war Korvaak who has lost a portion of his powers to the Witch Gods so really far from the real deal.
The Mogdrogen dialogue.
>Kymon was right
>no way to tell the bitch gods to fuck off and join a true divinity
Fucking gay.
I wanna play a fun caster. Ideas?
Wait, so there's no ending cutscene or anything for beating the final boss? You just kill Cthulu's testicle and then +1000 rep and a reward and then you just go to Elite? The fuck?
okay this is epic
Opening Cutscenes only.
Also, you get some more for the DLC.
Have you considered casting your shield at enemies? More seriously, what kind of caster? There's a set that enables Oathkeeper/Arcanist to kind of Charge into enemies and explode at them. You can build around almost any of the Arcanist skills.Want to be a touhou? Build around Panetti's Replicating Missile.
Want to rain meteors? grimdawn.com
Is this game worth the money? After the shitstorm that happened at Blizzcon last year, I wanna find a new diablo style game. Most of what I’ve seen of this looks good, but do you bros mind giving me your own opinion on the game?
Pirate it and decide for yourself.
>Get sort of interested in the game
>Look it up
>Looks like every single other high fantasy setting
Am I judging a book by its cover? It just looks so painfully generic in every single way. Abilities look really boring, too. I don't necessarily need Diablo 3 tier flashy shit but come on.
It has guns.
>high fantasy
It's post-apocalyptic.
It's slower paced than the others to start out, and takes a lot longer to speed up. But you don't really feel it once you get going. Lots of builds to try, two seperate modes with severe scaling to try yourself up against, not to mention the challenge dungeons and super bosses. It's fun. If you tend to hoard items, you'll either have to keep extensive mules or use a third party tool. If you do get the game, turn off Steam Cloud Saving from Steam, then again in Grim Dawn's options right away, as most of those third party storage tools don't work with cloud saves.
Hold off until a sale, the game goes down to $5~$8 all the time. Check isthereanydeal.com
yo lads this item looks amazing, especially the proc
thoughts?
I played oathkeeper but got bored cause I literally can't die on the first 2 difficulties
Around 75 but that's with skipping elite AoM and using exp potions
I do all quests and skip most mobs
How about mass dots with one nuke? Occultist necro?
I guess there's that, although I feel like adding guns to fantasy (or the other way around) has been a thing this whole decade.
Not really. Fallout is post-apoc. Horizon: Zero Dawn is post-apoc. Mad Max is post-apoc. Fighting bone golems in grimy dungeons and generic fantasy monsters in autumn-coloured forests is textbook fantasy aesthetic.
Why aren't you playing an Oathkeeper right now?
>Society has fucking collapsed as monstrosities from beyond the pale and beyond the shadow tear the world apart
>Naw dawg, it's generic high fantasy
Last I checked, you don't travel to outerdimensional pockets whose only feature is dark sand and black giant rock outcrops. Or raid giant fleshwarped factories filled with abominations.
Just say you don't like it, damn.
Ah yes, fighting western pistoleros and cowboys throwing dynamites at you, the classic medieval fantsy experience my friend.
what are you supposed to do after you finish all the storylines? is there a specific place im supposed to farm?
no, it's mythical, it says so right in the name
Anywhere in Ultimate more or less.
There's several end-game Dungeons to raid.
You can always redo the final bosses for loot.
Crucible.
Shattered Realm.
You know those dungeons that require a skele key to progress after a certain point?
its literally says "Epic Pants" sooooo
It's post-apoc if the apocalypse happened in the 1880s.
fuck you're right
so i made a primal strike warder as my first ever character having an okay time acting like im zeus and all but do i need to replay the entire game 3 times like diablo 2? im in act 3 in the second diff
Soldier/Necro or Soldier/shaman for my first character?
>do i need to replay the entire game 3 times like diablo 2?
Yeah or you can just use the skip that was introduced in the latest expansion.
>entire game
Nah. You can skip the DLC's and I dunno what the thing about the new DLC is and skipping Elite, but apparently there's something for that in it.
You will if its your first time through.
>t. butthurt Kymon's puppies
>The virgin Korvaak
why did I laugh
these memes need to stop tho, it's blasphemy
Do a soldier/shaman nature's avenger murderhobo
grimdawn.com
whole act 2 should just be erased, it's so stupid
so is there gonna be more dlc for the game? i heard FG was the last for grim dawn...would be a shame i just started playing and having a good time and would like them to add more classes and such to the game
Why is everyone acting like replaying the game is such a big deal? First playthrough can take a bit of time but if you twink your alts you can literally just run the whole game and 1-shot everything in normal/elite.
I've been looking at this game. Can any user here make some comparisons? I've played Baldur's Gate, Pillars of Eternity, Diablo... which do you guys think is the most similar? The game looks tight AF
diablo clone, or to be more precise, a reskinned titan quest
What's the most "fun" build you ever did? I always get bored auto attacking, or doing sub optimal builds.
titan quest
I fucking hate paladins, gayest class in RPG's that ever existed.
t. foul demonspawn
Recommend me a fun build with an absolute minimum of "X% chance to trigger Y while Z" passive skills.
That's most devotions so you're shit out of luck.
>grim cuck posting
Why bros
If you're in Ultimate one of the shops in the first FG town sells an item that unlocks Ultimate, all Rift Gates in Normal/Elite, and gives you your bag slots and stat/skill points from normal/elite quests. You just have to buy it on one character and shove it into shared storage for another.
Do you play hardcore Yea Forums?
nah i'm a pussy
>hardcore in a genre where you invest 50+ hours into a character
for what purpose
i can understand it in roguelikes, but it makes no sense here
Ah, thanks for the heads-up.
I lost the urge to when my last hc character died in the very last fight on ultimate.
Nah, not in long games like this. I have no trouble with permadeath in games designed around one sitting per playthrough, but when the whole thing is 30+ hours then just no.
What's the endgame for GD? I keep wanting to grab the expacs, but I'm lazy and jewish.
t. palagay
Shieldbreaker vire's might spammer
>max hellfire mines
>max blast shield
>max vindictive flame and ulzuin's wrath
>max every part of vire's might
>1 point in guardians of empyrion, max the resist reduction
>max the fire and crit buffing aura for OK
>elemental storm on vire's might
>frog for minor heal on attack
>kraken for 2h
>giant's blood
>ulzuin's torch (but not the devotion ability)
>fiend ability on guardians
>buff defensive ability where you can
Literally just charge back and forth absolutely fucking melting EVERYTHING in the game. Its great for both bosses and trash.
roguelike dungeons, crucible/shattered realms, and superbosses
there is not nearly as much endgame as something like PoE
You can always do pussy medium core, where you make a backup of the character once a week, or at the start of the day, and just lose that week or days playtime. It's an okay way to learn some of the ropes, but at that point you could just play softcore until you're more comfortable.
>Crucible farming/optimizing your build for crucible.
>Shattered Realm infinite depth diving
>Nemesis farming
>Skeleton Key dungeon runs
>Beat the super bosses
Do a mixture of these things until your build is close to perfect, then either push the high scaling content like Crucible or Shattered Realm to their fullest. When you get bored, start again with a different build or take a break and come back to the game.
Awesome. I never played Titan Quest, but I did love Diablo. Is it a Single Player only, or is this a co-op game? I actually kinda prefer these to just be SP.
What's the most fun build?
its single player.
If you want arpg with online elements like trading system, go for path of exile
It's very similar to Diablo 2, but without a closed battle.net experience. There's single player, and there's wild west open online where you play with others using local saves.
So it's basically single player, or if you want you can play with friends. Extending out into the world of randos means hacked items and getting carried through things and whatnot... best not to stray there.
You can MP but its not very common. Very heavy SP focus.
damn that's some cool looking armor. what classes is oathkeeper? haven't played for a long time
Oathkeeper is a new independent class introduced in Forgotten Gods.
Its great.
Oathkeeper is new to Forgotten Gods, which came out at the end of the last month. Very heavy Shield focus, has attacks that can scale off of retaliation as well. Phys/Fire/Trauma or Poison/Acid. That person is a level 50 pure Oathkeeper, so he hasn't selected a second class yet.
For Roguelike games the most important is not the time spent but the "fairness" of the game.
For example Tales of Maj Eyal takes 20-30 hours to finish and is a great Roguelike.
It's fun to try and finish the game without dying, knowing that you are the savior of Cairn but that if you die the world is doomed cause you won't respawn.
No illusions applied... just using bad gear for now
Engi/Inquisitor. Quite nice.
>Engi
I fucking wish.
>D3 for poorfags
>using illusions
literally cucking your gear
fuck illusions
Don't you have some double goblin Except it's not doubled occurence rates so it doesn't even matter for the one last somewhat relevant goblin related thing bullshit to be playing?
I played it during Crucible. Worked ok.
I cannot play it for long, get headaches. Same with Path of Exile.
For sure i will give it a shot some time later.
I meant there isn't an Engineer class. You meant Demolitionist.
Bloody Poz is a meme build that doesn't perform and should only be used to generate devotion procs. Currently trying to use it in a doombolt proc off gear build, will see.
Yeah, thats the one. Spamming grenades and shooting this with dual pistols which zap shit left and right every time kinda gives that W40k feeling.
Hell, the whole thing feels like W40k - Victorian setting.
I'm trying to figure out how to make a paladin and a retaliation build co-exist. So far it looks like the answer is just to get a fuck ton of +1 to all oathkeeper. At least its fun to be unkillable while having tons of explosions around me
>all of Korvaak race was beaten by something
wasn't there just a 'civil war' between the gods? Anasteria tells you this
Doombolt is a meme skill since it doesn't work on bosses though.
shield throw & righteous fervor scale with retaliation damage
the Stoneguard amulet also makes your righteous fervor scale even harder with retaliation
Agreed.
So, how do I beat Krieg before level 11 without just making a character just to do that?
Dreeg's Evil Eye into general Cabalist setup?
Yep, and apparently aetherials picked a side and lost
They didn't pick a side, but were forced to fight for gods, then got exiled into the aether because said gods lost the war.
I'm doing a Nightblade/ Inquisitor cold damage build and doing alright so far, level 85 almost finished Ashes on Ultimate. Still I wouldn't mind some input on my build since this is my first character.
Righteous fervour only scales with retal damage if you have a specific item
the Retribution passive adds retaliation damage, dumbass
10% at high ranks
The last node adds ret scaling.
Fuck sake i got it confused with spin2win
Ignore me
What I used is throwing knife, the hard part is not leveling, you can't really kill any mobs so you gotta run for the hills.
this worked with sands and phys/internal bleeding for me
factually wrong. That being said, I don't see the appeal of 'retaliation added to attack' skills if you are not going specifically for a retaliation build, the amount added is too low otherwise
Why i have more fun watching GD on twitch rather than play myself? Every time i start playing i feel lonely.
This shit ddin't happen to me when i play PoE tho
good devs, good prices, good game.
deffo best of the ARPGS. only mxl mods are better.
Find a fellow autist to play with then
What's the name of the new farmable set?
dark one?
You mean the one form the rogue dungeons?
grimtools.com
That's the one. Thanks.
I'm playing Soldier/Oathkeeper, just spamming forcewave seems to work at the moment but I'd like to use a shield/sword setup eventually.
How should I spend my stat points, do I just save them until I need extra stats to wear something?
Save your attributes, you're gonna need some spirit to wear lategame accessories.
I back up so it's more 'soulslike' where I lose 1 day or few hours of progress. game is too unfair and shithard with 1HKO spam everywhere to warrant hc. not to mention the laggy online, general lag spikes and shit balancing.
>do I just save them until I need extra stats to wear something
Yup
Otherwise, everything on health just like every other diablo clone
I always keep like 5 and pump everything into physique
Thanks - if I'm going for phys damage is it worth spending any on cunning?
hella based
>game is too unfair and shithard with 1HKO spam everywhere
literal brainlet
I'll give you the laggy online, hardcore is a single player thing anyway, if you want to make the game harder by going hardcore adding other people won't make it harder.
Honestly it doesn't really matter since you can respec them all with a potion, only 1 potion per difficulty if I remember correctly but that's enough.
Don't listen to those retards. Put everything into physique. Cunning and spirit is easy to get through devotions and gear. You can respec stat points so don't think too hard on it.
How viable is it to farm this as a new player? I heard Shattered Realms is aids.
>want to make a commando beatstick build
>shar'zul's worldeater is perfect for it
do I dare attempt to farm for it?
'' if you want to make the game harder by going hardcore adding other people won't make it harder.''
You mean less boring. sc is fucking lame. it's just that the game isn't balanced around hc but softcore, so there's crazy ass grind and the levellnig is too lazy. it's not as good as d2, where hardcore struck a perfect balance between challenging and fair.
It's not in the SR. It's in dungeons that need skeleton keys like Steps of torment.
They aren't that hard compared to high tiers of crucible/SR.
This is from the roguelike dungeons Port Valbury, Steps of Torment, Bastion of Chaos, and Ancient Grove. If you have a solid build, the only thing you have to worry about is the time it takes to fight your way through several times, as well as the mats to craft skeleton keys.
Not that guy but I've had the chestplate drop twice from the chests in the SR treasure room
I like aether ray arcanist or chaos inquisitor/occultist as the most fun to pilot
Hey i found some secret or something?
Yeah, I'm already in the basement, just shy of level 10. 4 second cooldown eye is deleting more or less everything. Just need to use it enough to open a path and I should be good.
Yeah I just wish vire's might fit better into the build. Its way more fun than shield throw imo.
Oh yes the game where enemies have complete immunity to certain damage types, even multiple types, is the fair one.
Getting 99 in D2 was crazy, getting 100 in Grim Dawn is a breeze with the mob density of Ultimate, I really don't know what you're talking about.
>bonus to the eye of reckoning branch
>also grants a WPS
Some items just make no fucking sense.
How is acid retaliation Sentinel compared to Warlord?
Can somebody recommend me a fun OK build? I recently ran a TSS Druid which I loved.
Tried Aidskeeper, just hit lvl 30 and it's both weak and boring. shield kills trash mobs, but I need to kite bosses and heroes. Acid damage seems lackluster.
My autism can't justify playing a character who died, if there is no save/load system. So I'm always playing hardcore in this genre.
Nah that's just the Honored rep quest for the cult of Solael.
is this game even worth playing? heard it has no multiplayer
spin2win archon
It has multiplayer but no dedicated servers. It's all P2P.
try using the Honor relic, it gives you the Vire's Cascade ability which scales with Retaliation and does really good damage on a short cooldown.
requires level 70
>Aidskeeper
>lvl 30
>weak and boring
What are you talking about? My poison EoR dervish literally melts everything with Guardian's Gaze procs and shadow strikes.
Or you can try a fire EoR with Fiend procs.
Or vitality EoR with Wendigo procs.
Shit is fucking great.
Wasn't that just activating the three statues and that's it?
Because that makes it valuable to multiple builds user. It gives bonuses to other thinfs too. Just like this set also gives bonuses to arcanist and tempest, but would still be amazing on my shieldbreaker vire's might spammer
Hey grimfags, what choices did you make whenever it was an option?
>Angrim or Duncan
>Letting bandits go or killing them
>Paid/bribed/killed the bandits at that one town
>Death's Vigil or Kymon's Chosen
>Burned the witch or helped her escape
>Allied or killed Anasteria
>Allied or destroyed Barrowholm
>Dreeg, Bysmiel or Solael
Did I miss any?
I made a build with the same concept in mind, this is what it looks like: grimtools.com
Rune of Hagarrad is incredible for AoE damage and looks really cool, so I invested a lot in it. Inquisitor seal is great defensively and offensively as well, I highly recommend it. Lethal Assault is a huge increase in DPS, I'd invest more in it. Remove that point in Nidalla's Hidden Hand, you're not focusing on acid damage, so that's only lowering your DPS.
That's the quest, but once you do it the door opens and it doesn't tell you
The dude with the daughter
Also freeing or killing the "change of heart" aetherial and cthonian cultists
To be fair I just randomly click on stuff.
I've gotten 5 characters to level 100 and haven't bothered reading much of anything. I have no idea what the story is about or who anyone is.
>Duncan
>kill them
>bribed
>Vigil
>help
>allied with Anasteria
>allied with Barrowholm
>Solael
Chaos witchblade, felt fitting save for maybe bribing the bandits to keep the people at that town safe
>Angrim
>Ignore
>Ignore
>Kymon's Chosen
>Ignore
>Ally
>Ally
>Bysmiel
>Did I miss any?
Plenty. Ugdall is one example where the choice is obvious.
Telling the woman the truth about her mother and daughter being kept alive as groteque breeding chambers by the aetherials, or lying.
>How's your build going, Yea Forums?
Eeeeehhhh.
Reminder to please look into Grim Internals for auto-pickup of components and other nifty shit
>>Angrim or Duncan
Angrim
>>Letting bandits go or killing them
Letting them go
>>Paid/bribed/killed the bandits at that one town
Bribed
>>Death's Vigil or Kymon's Chosen
Death's vigil
>>Burned the witch or helped her escape
Helped her escape
>>Allied or killed Anasteria
Allied
>>Allied or destroyed Barrowholm
Allied
>>Dreeg, Bysmiel or Solael
Dreeg
Most of these are a common sense option vs something crazy. Why would anyone ally Kymon's chosen based on their ideology? Why would anyone kill Anasteria?
>rocking cadence chaos witchblade
>farm a new setup to use Rah'Zin's set
>finally get that shit, excitedly put it on and slap two fangs of Ch'thon on that bitch
>lose like 3k hp
>dps skyrockets after swapping cadence for set granted skill + Zolhan's technique
>lose darkblaze amulet's activated aoe and acid into chaos for blood of Dreeg
I honestly don't know what to pick, Yea Forums
Post grimtools.
Korvaak is just diablo 2.0
He is just some loser god that got fucked by other gods because of how edgy he is. He is the Mala of GD.
The forgotten gods expansion is weird
Here you have the apocalypse happening and humanity on the verge of extinction but you're traveling god knows where to kill more humans
>Angrim or Duncan
Duncan needs our support, Angrim will be fine anyway
>Letting bandits go or killing them
Let go. At least they are sane enough to leave.
>Paid/bribed/killed the bandits at that one town
Paid. It's not the time for heroics.
>Death's Vigil or Kymon's Chosen
Necrobros
>Burned the witch or helped her escape
You have to be an absolute faggot to burn her
>Allied or killed Anasteria
You have to be an absolute faggot to kill the best girl
>Allied or destroyed Barrowholm
Fuck Reaper and fuck wendigo people
>Dreeg, Bysmiel or Solael
Papa Dreeg
It feels like they wanted to shoehorn Witch Gods in but also wanted to do a desert themed area and went "fuck it".
Leveling my Oathkeeper without any Lokarr set or XP potions because i never mad eit that far into ultimate.
It's slow but i found a nice combo: Bind Flame Torrent to the Spin skill.
Mogdrogen is an entertaining douche bag with a golden heart. He is one of the reason why GD lore is good.
HAVE YOU COME TO PAY YOUR RESPECT MORTAL?
Grim Dawn in general seems to involve doing a lot of shady shit for what you can only hope will be a good outcome.
The base game lets you mostly maintain being a good guy, apart from a brief lapse of choosing which fanatics you want to join (Death's Vigil and Kymon's Chosen are both pretty fucked up if you look into it deep enough, Vigil just comes across as much more polite).
Then in AoM there's no real mechanical benefit for NOT siding with Barrowholm, even though who in their right mind would side with a bunch cannibalistic murder cultists.
Then Forgotten Gods force you to help out the Witch Gods who may or may not fuck us over in the end anyway.
Love that fucking cunt, got a conjurer dressed just like him
>Why would anyone ally Kymon's chosen based on their ideology?
Well well well, seems like we have a foul necromancer in our midst, one who doesn't have respect for the dead. Start the bonfire brothers
What the hell does (S) on unique items mean? Tier above Empowered?
Is there a reason to actually kill anaesteria? Her unique gear is not even that good.
Same with barrowholm, no reason to kill them -outside of roleplay- unless you really don't need anything they sell
>Had fun leveling with every character in diablo 2 and 3
>Can't get into GD
Even though I have base game only, most builds feel the same, 10 passives/sustains and 2 active skills.
It means that it's part of a set. It's from the Rainbow Mod you are using.
Nobody else got any hands on experience with this set? I honestly don't know if giving up so much health is worth the dps ramp up and the admittedly shoddier resistances (all capped but used to have a 30% overcap on each elemental resist but fire which was way higher on the old setup)
I like how the first time meeting him makes him sound like a straight asshole with shit like "I DON'T EXPECT A MERE MORTAL TO UNDERSTAND THE MACHINATIONS OF THE GODS" but the second meeting he actually sits down and explains it a bit better "I'd help more but I have to deal with all the other asshole gods".
Nope, not really.
I found out just after I posted. Started using the mod today.
Thanks though.
>no real mechanical benefit for NOT siding with Barrowholm
The MI pants from their nemesis i guess
>10 passives/sustains and 2 active skills.
That was true during early access but not anymore. Almost every build becomes piano when you reach late game.
>human
You mean the korvaak’s chosen and their ten foot tall bladed armed ogre?
Why don’t you take one look at them and tell me they are human? Besides is not like they can be allied like cronley and the foresworth, whom are partly responsible for the coming of the grim dawn and deserves a serious spanking.
>levelling without lokarr
lol
how did you get that colored stats?
So what the fuck is the grim dawn
Would be good if there is a cosmetic option for facial modeling to imitate his beared
I used to play this a lot. What are some builds I could try for a new run?
>bonus points: it's actually op
Rainbow Mod
>Kill loghorrean
>"well actually you just banished it. It can't be really killed silly boy"
>Kill Theodin
>"well actually you just sent him back to the aether, it can't be really killed silly boy"
>Kill Korvaak
>"well actually you just banished him to the eldritch realm, it can't be really killed silly boy"
What's the fucking point
Apparently Warlord (Soldier/Oathkeeper) is so good it's expected to get nerfed soonish as part of the last balance changes for the launch of FG.
Put one of the devotion skills with no CD on EoR to abuse the insane proc rate, switch flame torrent to the ghostie boys or something.
>Want to play a aether-converted-chaos Warlock
>No chaos or aether RR on either tree
>Want to try a Lightning Trickster
>Absolutely zero synergy with each other, classes should be ashamed to be friends
I don't want to do another fire demo/X fire or occult/X vit build again. Why the fuck does Arcanist get phys RR anyway?
thanks
It takes them hundreds if not thousands of years to get their power back.
Log is actually dead though
What's the deal with Ulzuin? Did he get catfished by Bysmiel and now is in hiding from Korvaak?
Is there a reason to keep her alive? All of her augments (except for Outcast's Wrath) are outclassed. The Hood she drops is far more usable than anything else she has to offer.
Welcome to grim dawn. Where everything is going to shit and all you can do is to delay the inevitable.
any tips on a paladin build?
Play a caster.
I'm playing a ritualist and I literally can't keep up with my cooldowns in end game.
Even pet builds that are supposed to be hands off require you to constantly activate like 7 different buffs + devotion proc skills.
The expansions pretty much overturned any reason to go with either choice on vigil/kymon and anasteria, so I guess it's pure roleplay now.
>Destroying Barrowholm
I fucking hate this because destroying them offers absolutely nothing of value, but allying with them gives you access to some of the strongest shit for gearing.
cucked to death
Oleron will always be my favourite deity, shame he never really had a spotlight
>you ever been so fucking mad you ascended to godhood and had to get chained down so you wouldn't obliterate all of existence?
Literally Angron, Grimnir or Kratos. But mostly Angron since he is a death seeking maniac.
>lets make a game bois...
>okay the world is gonna be named.... okay think of cool videogamey places..... okay remember diablo.... cain.... LMAO CAIRN
epic game bro
>when those gorillon iron bits spent at the blacksmith finally pay off
Man do I hate having to pick up every rare to get some iron.
>Cairn and cain are the same
Literally brainlet
>pay off
Why wouldn't you use a cindertouch instead of that turd?
Ayy.
I've been reading some skills on the arcanist. Devastation and TSS seem interesting but feels like it's going to take forever to get the skills. Also, occultist for hexes or shaman for totem/wind devil? Not buying expansions for now so no necro or the other 2
>dude just use this legendary you don't have
great idea why didn't i think of that myself
>this will be the last expac
>comfy grim dawn threads end
>i get bored of devotion metagame
>another wonderful game is uninstalled
why live
Nice gloves.
Cindertouch doesn't have many resistances. And the conversion can be shit.
Why is buying stuff absolutely worthless
What devotion skills with no Cooldown exist? I only see Aetherfire.
now if only cindertouch had half those resistances and didn't have that shitty fire to lightning conversion
You can wear two shield? Holy fuck
one of them is a mace that looks like a shield
Quickest way to get this?
You get 3 skill points per level, so you can get TSS by level 4 and devastation by turn 30ish. Even faster if you respec.
Probably Shaman Locust spam. I did it with Eye of Dreeg with the 4 second cooldown mod cause I wanted to do a Cabalist anyway.
Take note that Krieg gives you about 15% of the EXP needed to go from 10-11, so try to go into the fight with
When does Warlord get fun? Only having a shield throw every 4 seconds makes me bored.
As a petmancer I never attack anything, I just spam buffs and debuffs.
It is without a doubt the shittiest class for leveling.
Just picked up this game and the first expansion. What a fun build for someone who has never played a Diablo style game before?
Shaman Primal Strike is fun to start out with.
You play forcewace and then respec at like lvl 80
>soldier
never
Well shit. I have no idea how to powerlevel in this game, especially without skipping all the stuff you get for doing quests so thats going to be rough.
What build? I have either occultist/shaman debuff based or demolitionist/occultist fire based
necro/occultist obviously, the actual best class combination for pets.
grimtools.com
Playing fire-phys spinning shieldbreaker, feels so nice, retaliation, great survivability, decent damage, very smooth and fast playstyle, casually strolling through act 4 ultimate right now, the most fun i ever had in this game.
>he hasn't tried Blitz
Just play normally with 2h Forcewave and the Zero Cooldown transmuter.
how the fuck do casting build work in this game? do you just use any weapon which give you stat boost like in D3 because thats pretty lame.
>just skills, no gear
it's shit
2h physical eye of reckoning warlord
yay or nay?
>eye of reckoning
The answer us always yes
I just want to do a no weapon build, just punching niggas like Saitama. Is that viable?
Should I switch pants? I am playing a fire damage build so the whole vit/chaos bonus is useless to me but dat fuckin OA bonus man
>not Oppressor
is this game worth getting into? played it a few and made it to level 15 or something. seemed sort of boring
>Dervish with four infinite health pets
Fucking hilarious.
Why, because of the meme retaliation -phys resist? May as well just use war cry modded with break morale (-30 phys resist) as well as getting all the survivability
So about transmuting set items...
If the set I want has a helm can I just craft a helm and roll it till I get the last part(s)?
When I re-roll inside the same set, will it roll between ALL the parts or all the OTHER parts except the one it currently is? As in, can the helm just transmute into a helm with the transmute roll?
>ally with Kymon's Chosen
>install Forgotten Gods
>lmao fuck you, you're helping Death's Vigil now and fighting the order that you're revered in
Out of all the mediocre decisions in the expansion, I think that one pissed me off the most
Give me a fun build for a new player to this game (but not to the genre)
do they actually deal any damage, though?
On Ultimate there are droprates higher, or something? I mean, where's the motivation for me to progress onto higher difficulties, if moster level adjust to me?
Better drops, more pack size, monsters give more exp at the same levels as normal/elite, more hero monsters and some Ultimate-only areas
no matter how i build an oathkeeper i feel like im not doing enough damage, nor am I tanky
send help
much higher drop rates, and it's the only difficulty where the game is actually gets hard so you know if your build is shit
Break Morale doesn't stack though and requires some cooldown reduction for full uptime. Can get Manticore or another source of "reduced target's resistances". Can use Gladiator's Distinction to make Siphon Souls deal Physical Damage. Soldier is probably the better choice overall.
No, your current pants are much better.
You'll be playing at the intended difficulty along with the intended droprates, as in they're showering you with legendaries
>If the set I want has a helm can I just craft a helm and roll it till I get the last part(s)?
Yes, eldritch essence is a pain to get though
>or all the OTHER parts except the one it currently is?
This one
Rate my nibbla
when you say doesn't stack, you mean -% phys resist will overwrite it?
missing his neck/10
max Shattering Smash and Celestial Presence for damage, literally triples your damage in some cases and at worst is a +80% damage multiplier
Oathkeeper is squishy by itself, need to combine it it with something like Soldier or Shaman (for Wendigo Totem)
how do you feel about chillspikes since this patch? I had a infiltrator based on rune, seal, nights chill, aoc, and just chill spikes spam back last time but im not sure how well it will hold up in ultimate and these new dungeons
You can't play differently tho. Hell, zero dps is a concept in D3 because there's a point where you can't even slowly whittle away at monsters unless you're using certain sets.
No, but it doesn't stack with the same type of resistance reduction. For "n reduced target's resistance" only the highest applies, "-n% Resistance" stacks. Both of those are flat reductions which apply first. The last type of resistance reduction is mostly irrelevant because of how it works. It's "n% reduced resistance" and reduces the remaining resistance by a percentage (also doesn't stack). Just look up the mechanics if it's still unclear.
>using GD stash
>suddenly my entire fucking shared stash is wiped out and the game acts like i don't have any tabs unlocked
>shared stash file 1kb, empty
wot
thank FUCK i actually bothered to copy every page to the database only a few minutes ago
Apparently I caused an issue by putting writs in the stash. Not only did it delete the stash info, but it made my character inaccessable when I put them directly in their bags. Fucking hell, watch out lads.

They're working on a sequel right now. Overall tweaking and improvements, but graphics overhaul is the big thing. Unfortunately, there's a bit of a civil war where one side of the community is keeping the devs from using babes and slut armor in the game and the other side is for it. By what the devs last said on it, they're afraid of following through die to sjw retaliation.
you can use shield throw and forcewave
>Unfortunately, there's a bit of a civil war where one side of the community is keeping the devs from using babes and slut armor in the game and the other side is for it. By what the devs last said on it, they're afraid of following through die to sjw retaliation.
What?
the equipped pants have better resistances so it depends on what else you have for res
Kymon tells what elements they're good in.
Yeah it sucks, but it's still easier than completing a set. I only need 2 parts out of 4. Surely it won't take like 20 tries r-right
Also, thanks.
Exactly!
Ok tell me please, are there some component buffs-auras that permanently boost my Vitality damage? Like, you know, Radiant Gem, Purified Salt, some ice-thunder bolts ?
You're going to be looking for resistance reduction, not damage buffs if you want vitality to not suck late game. Will of rattosh devotion comes to mind
Time to rush ultimate with a new character. Wish me luck.
What? Really? That shit is absurd.
No, unironically allying with Kymon's is absurd.
>present korvaak in the main game as some primordial god of doom
>ramp it up in the first expansion
>release expansion all about him
>make him the little brother who was abandoned and got his throne stolen from him by an asshole ex-mortal who couldn't handle divine sight without suffering eternal agony
>can't side with the poor guy
> giving a shit about the story in a fucking arpg looter
Is it possible to go hybrid with pets/self damage in this game? Or are you just gimped if you aren't committed fully like occult/shaman whatever. I'm trying to build around the legendary amulet that lets you summon a yeti and my pets die way to fast when it counts.
yes you can
go Nightblade/Oathkeeper, both of their pets scale with Player Damage and are immortal. you get 4 pets this way.
then get the Skeleton devotion that scales with player damage
then stack Physical Damage
You're right. Guess I know what I'm doing next then. Thanks mayne.
What are the best skills to lower enemy resistances?
Depends on the type of damage you're using.
eye of reckoning is just a meme right?
tears through trash but is shit on bosses
phys/fire/burn/trauma
it's fucking great with the Warborn Bastion set, but until that point the single target is trash, yeah.
I love that a GD thread is already up when I have gotten home.
>phys
Guardians of empyrion aura, curse of frailty
>fire
Guardians of empyrion aura, thermite mines, elemental storm (devotion ability)
Burn and Internal Trauma are just the phys/fire DoTs and are lowered by lowering fire/phys resist.
Phys resist is a cunt to get
Is there anything after Malmouth or is that the end for now? Feels really inconclusive.
Currently playing Demo and dumping most of my points into Grendo and Canister bomb. What would be a good second class to pick up? Outside of soldier for some passives I can't really think of anything.
It scales pretty well with attack speed and frequently proccing devos, namely that new korvaak one. Get it to around 180 with ghoulish hunger and you melt bosses.
I cannot do the Ancient Grove final boss on Elite due to enviromental stuff. I cannot do Ancient Watcher in the bog on Elite either for same reason. Self-buffed I have about 1000% pet damage and fully buffed (procs and stuff) about 1700% for about 1 second. I cannot win boss fights that have shit like lava or flames or gas vents or whatever. Should I forget pet damage and go with health for pets? How do you survive shit like the Ancient Grove fight? I've not got FG yet I still need to run through Ultimate which will probably suck arse. Not on HC either because I suck at this game.
>curse of frailty
Also lowers elemental resist btw with the attached skill
There are a few Shrines which are Ultimate only (or are locked into Ultimate Only quests). Plus Legendaries drop more, you can get to Lv.100 easier and more bosses and shit in general. Only just got to it myself.
That's the end. I was hoping the newest expansion would continue from it but for some reason they jammed it between acts 1 and 2
Inquisitor for healing and reducing resistances
>between
Being accessible right after Act I doesn't mean it takes place right after Act I.
>Thanks to the new expansion, there's now over 55 Devotion Shrines on Ultimate, making an Ultimate-only run possible
Neat.
Not like it's difficult to blaze through normal at Lv.100 to get a few more shrines. It's about 50 if you do Normal and Elite.
You'd still wanna go to lower difficulties for your Skill Points. 2 in Normal, 2 in Elite. 2 Attribute points in each as well.
It's actually almost 100 if you do both Normal and Elite.
46/50 respectively.
This is my main problem with the game. I want to try out fun builds but you gotta do three full runs to get it set up right. I do not like it. I just want to start from the end of Ultimate at Lv.100 and can go back as I please. It sucks. Yeah you can cheat but that doesn't clear the map for you.
The item that unlocks ultimate gives you them for free
Worst part for me was:
>Isn't it obvious--
>Isn't it obvious--
>Isn't it obvious--
>Isn't it obvious--
Game trying to make me read it's lore. Fuck that.
Completely forgot that
Fucking steam screenshot filenames, that's the wrong image
Oh, shit. Nice.
Go 100% vires and its very very amusing
Ty
>open grimtools
>set character to start on Ultimate difficulty
>cheat in a beginner armor set of shitty greens
>set him to level 30
>buy the book that gives you the skill points from the other difficulties
boom, done. now you dont have to go through the tediousness of normal/elite.
They cost 125k a pop. They should have fucking been free and given full devotion points.
>when you were the villain al allong
>he thinks the lower difficulties are tedious
Ultimate is a fucking slog with an unprepared character.
>Reading up on some Cabalist and try it out
>They claim 1-point-wonder Ravenous Earth is enough early on
>Try it
>It does 0 damage
Did I get memed on?
>decide to fight Grava'thul thinking he would be just like any other nemesis
>now i have 1 hc character less
such is life
typical mindless dungeon crawling shit. no
What's the best way to farm celestial lotuses?
Korvaak's the only thing that's dropped me one.
What arcanist spell do I pair with Olexra's Flash Freeze so I can do something about bosses? My second devotion is Oathkeeper if there's a better option there.
DEATH IS ONLY THE BEGINNING
Survivability is super important. +health and resists makes a huge difference.
There are spawn locations in some thread at the GD forums--I know this isn't very helpful.
grim dawn more like grim it's a fun game
Spawns? Of bosses that drop them?
If you can't do anything vs bosses it is because you lack resist reduction. Flash freeze has -% fire resist and -% phys resist (the wording tells you it stacks) So I'd use it as a support spell for your oathkeeper abilities, which deal precisely fire and physical
If you want cold damage instead I suggest Murmur and Rhowan constellations
Just started a grimarillion playthrough, going for a soul harvester (witch doctor + necromancer) focusing on vitality and cold damage.
So far it's amazing with haunt spreading from enemy to enemy all I have to do is put it on someone and wait for it to kill an entire room of enemies, sometimes even spreading to the next pack of mobs.
I mean they drop from _____ chest, like the Glamorous Chests and Opulent Chests in FG content--there is one in certain zones. I forget the name of that special chest but those drop a Celestial Lotus.
I found one thread on it: grimdawn.com
I'll leave further lurking to you
Can't help you if we don't know your defensive stats.
Oh, you didn't have to dig up a thread for me. Thanks.
do girls play grim dawn?
>do
Yes.
>Any you will ever meet
No.
>not getting multiple damage types in a game where immunities exist
holy shit kys stupid n00b. Bet you play glass cannon builds as well on HC, then complain its stupid when you die.
>Getting 99 in D2 was crazy,
it wasn't the object to become level 99
>level 100 is easy
it would make for a more balanced endgame, sadly, GD isn't balanced at all.
DII is better balanced. by. far. don't even deny it. Although GD is more fun to play anno 2019, OBVIOUSLY. But its crfap online, shit graphics and terrible optimization makes sure this will never be as good a game as diablo.
Flash freeze just straight up doesn't affect bosses with freeze immunity, which is most of them.
do you think... they have boobers...
Si.
playing new characters in this game is so boring compared to PoE. The lack of random generation really gets grating after a few playthroughs
dios mío anón...
After a while in POE you get so used to the layouts that they might as well be fixed. It's not really that much different.
Sooo...
Why is Korvaak bad exactly? Isn't he trying to kill what is killing humans?
Should I continue my pure soldier run? This shit is extremely boring, I would respec into something else but I don't have appropriate gear for another class
>PoE
piece of excrement
Seriously, Grim Dawn is Warhammer as fuck.
Just read some inscriptions on unique items.
Path of exile aint got shit on this.
Random generation is fine for mapping and some other stuff, but horrible for the main story/world map.
>And then in the latest update, they add some fucking RETARDED layouts to old, simply areas that make them way worse
Ship Graveyard used to always be a giant sandy area with rocks on one side and water on the other. Now they have layouts that fuck with you by having you go through a pinched off section to reach anything.
Chamber of Sins 2 layouts where the objective isn't in the northern tip of the map.
The bullshit that the Vaal Ruins have become.
Sewers layouts with fakeout paths that look like they lead to a Platinum bust, but don't.
But the absolute worst offender in terms of layout variants is Belly of the Beast 2. They've made most layouts for it nowadays emulate Belly of the Beast in Act 9, which has a million LONG dead-end paths.
