>Properly beat boss
>He effortlessly beats you in cutscene and mocks you for being weak despite sucking entire actual fight
Dropped game right there, literally mass effect 3 level of garbage
Properly beat boss
retard
Literally doesn't happen at any point in the game.
Well it does if you can kill genichiro the first time
But you get an extra scene and he looks like a bitch.
He doesn't though. He tells you that you shouldn't put Honor above victory after he has his Nightjar distract you.

>(Miyazaki) says that as Sekiro is different from Dark Souls, players may first find it to be difficult, but as they learn new ways of fighting and new tactics and get better, they should feel the pleasure of getting better, which is part of their usual unchanging theme of gaining catharsis through overcoming hardship
>The interviewer says that boss battles are especially difficult, and to this Miyazaki says that this should result in great feelings of accomplishment when players manage to defeat them, saying that when they were playtesting the game, people would yell out in glee when defeating a boss.
>Miyazaki is asked what he thinks defines From Software, and he calls this a difficult question, and says that it might be that they make games with things that they think are fun or have value, or are beautiful or cool, at the root; He says that in most cases, this results in something that is not conventional, and this is what makes the “colour” of From Software. He says that they do not rely on looking at markets or trying to differentiate themselves from others when making games, and that they are fortunate that things are going well for them, giving his thanks to the players.
>The interviewer asks if Activision had any influence on the plot, and Miyazaki says that he received feedback from them which had many good points, and he made adjustments accordingly. He did not make any concessions where he felt that he should not, however
>He tells you that you shouldn't put Honor above victory
>The main boss of the game literally tells you that you're supposed to cheese everything.
>properly beat boss you're supposed to lose
>alternate ending
>credits roll
>Son of Sparda mode is now unlocked
how can Capchad be so based
A shinobi should know the difference between honor and victory.
>mfw I can actually cheese everything
>Boss toys with you
>Baby rage when he gets bored and bests you
We already know from later on that he's a fucking beast and could have destroyed you.
>Main boss
Primary antagonist. Not main boss. but yes. He outright tells you that a normal style of play is not remotely recommended.
Seems legit
>The interviewer says that boss battles are especially difficult, and to this Miyazaki says that this should result in great feelings of accomplishment when players manage to defeat them, saying that when they were playtesting the game, people would yell out in glee when defeating a boss.
This was upsettingly not true for me, I didn't enjoy much of the game outside of the boss fights, and the boss fights were over just way too fast. The last boss took me a while and I loved every death, but given how there's no real variation to your tools I now can't really see any point to replaying the game.
Every time I beat a hard boss I just gave the screen a big middle finger like HAHA fuck you miyazaki.
why do they make bosses that you are supposed to lose to defeatable when they don't have an alternate ending if you do defeat them? it would be pretty easy to implement some code giving them something stupid like refilling their health bar whenever it drops to 0
Doesn't even remotely do that.
You outright best him in combat and he is kneeling on the floor while Wolf Preps for the final slash. Then gets distracted by a Nightjar and Genichiro takes the chance to sever your arm. Then lectures you on misplaced honor.
>given how there's no real variation to your tools I now can't really see any point to replaying the game
Yeah as soon as I get my platinum, I'm dropping this game like a 10 lb bag of shit.
>but given how there's no real variation to your tools
?????????
I bet you didn't know that the illusion monk is week to snapseeds and the mortal blade
Not particularly what I meant, I was more referring to the replayability from Dark Souls or to a lesser extent Bloodborne, where just using a different build meant you would have to in some ways relearn a boss as you had a different set of abilities than before.
In Sekiro it's
>do it the intended way, which is really well crafted but you can really only go through the learning process one time
or
>just fuckin cheese their gimmick weakness
which doesn't have that satisfying learning portion at all.
Or a aerial instant kill at the start of the fight and during the summoning of it's clones and side stepping.
You can cut off two health bars in 15 seconds.
you get an alternate cutscene when you beat Genichiro in the intro you utter retard
>but you depleted both his healthbars so he should be dead!
he has three health bars though
Play honorable or play as intended.
I'm not talking about the dumb samurai game, i'm talking about the 'boss you're supposed to lose to' trope in all kinds of video games
>Beat the boss
>As his health reaches zero, before the cutscene starts he does one desperate unblockable attack at you just so it would fit the following cutscene where you are receiving an attack
How is it that Capcom is the first one to think of this?
well excuse me for thinking you're talking about the game the thread is about in your example
And he's right.
you're excused
I’m going to empty my ballsack into the Divine Child of Rejuvination
Too much effort. Shame, because it is neat when it does happen.
>but as they learn new ways of fighting and new tactics and get better, they should feel the pleasure of getting better, which is part of their usual unchanging theme of gaining catharsis through overcoming hardship
well, they nailed it
>Owl 2
I like how you can tell why he want immortality that badly.
Only three years and aged already done number to him.
ah yes the old dodge and press x to win games
Dodging sucks ass in this game, this is “learn to parry and manage posture or die” the game
itsuno is God's gift to vidya
Is there a maximum of 4 lapis lazuli in a single playthrough?
counter-after-dodge does insane posture damage, it's pretty much THE way to beat someone like Owl
Because it feels cool to beat a boss that's "suppose" to be unbeatable. That feeling alone is worthwhile even they don't give additional rewards like an alternate ending or a cool weapon or whatever.
Although it is better to have additional rewards than not.
>We already know from later on that he's a fucking beast and could have destroyed you.
Lmao
Just how bad are you at the game?
Did anyone else find he had some new OP sweep second phase of the first fight in NG+? I went back to gank him and it was all going fine then he brought out a new move that was a one hit kill, i hadn't seen him use it in any previous encounter.
he does that in his second phase in the castle too
I think it's 6
any demon of hatred tips?
Umbrella when closing the distance. Otherwise it's just stay on his legs and learn his stomps. Malcontent spam phase 3, otherwise you can have terrible luck and he stands outside his ring of fire slamming projectiles in.
what's the best way to farm that high tier crafting material that look like little cocaine baggies?
Why bother. Not a single end stage prosthetic is worth using. Malcontent, long spark and maybe mist raven. All you need.
>flame shield not worth using
For one boss. If they had made the final umbrellas combined it might have been good.
True.
not OP but
>mfw figuring out I missed Malcontent
I'm just not gonna fight him.
Just go get the ring from the Shichimen that you fight at Ape 2.
If the game shows you anything, it's that Genichiro is pathetic and in his pursuit of victory he lost sight of his goals and died a bitch.
Using cheap tricks wins you the fight but weakens you for the next one, keep that in mind when you're spamming fireworks.
Cheap is drawing an enemy out to a spot where he'll keep trying to walk home and let you hit him, not using the one useful prosthetic as designed and is limited.
If you want to spam fireworks be my guest, but you'll be a person who has to spam fireworks to win. It'll follow you until you stop doing it and then you won't have to.
Using tricks to win is kicking the can down the road. Nothing wrong with it but don't be surprised when you hit a wall because there's not enough spirit emblems to spam through a three healthbar fight.
I've already got return, severance and shura endings though. When am i going to get stuck?
In the DLC
Don't be so defensive, I'm talking about generalities not you specifically. Sorry I overestimated your intelligence.
The DLC is just going to be double length firecrackers for £5.99
>He effortlessly beats you in cutscene and mocks you for being weak despite sucking entire actual fight
so you didnt actually beat Genichiro at the beginning of the game
I wasn't defensive, i actually did most bosses no prosthetics as the majority don't reliably react. Malcontent is probably the most useful boss tool.
You're still doing it lol
As long as the firecrackers have good lore count me in
he literally admits his defeat as in by honor rules (of which he is more bound than you, being an actual noble). take some reading comprehension classes, i know you got a class for everything in burgerland.
corr monk is a joke of a fight anyway
deal with weaknesses in this game is that they really dont matter much outside of confetti on headless
exploiting weaknesses is pretty weak firecrackers cast a long time and you can only get 1, in rare cases 2 attacks if you want to lock them in
shit like whistle/snapseeds only work 3 times per all of healthbars and then disabled so they dont matter much either
most combat arts are useless, a couple bosses are weak to ichi but are still fine without it, the rest is shit
in the end there is really no exploiting a weakness here, you just mash l1 l1 l1 l1 r1 for the vast majority of fights in the game until you get the pattern down, because even if you go all out on "exploiting" you will at best get half a bar down which isnt that big of deal
I killed the bull, but died to some mooks before I could reach the next idol. I respawned at a different idol however and can't reach the arena of the bull again. The seven spears of Ashina guy is my next logical target, as far as i can tell. Haven't found the firecrackers yet and killed both Juzou and Owl in the Hirata memory. What the fuck do I do?
what the fuck is this post
crackers are back in outskirts
your next shit is at the top of the castles highest building
Senpou punches are underrated. You can always get a set out and sometimes you can back to back them. Useful if they're near posture broken
Firecrackers are bought from a store at the top of a hill next to NPC grandma and her dying son.
what the fuck? so i basically missed the very first prosthetic in the game?
shuriken is the first prosthetic most people will find, followed by Axe/Flame Vent/Firecrackers depending on if people go into the memory or not.
You should have 5 prosthetics by the time you get to the bull.
This is accurate, I think the tricks are exploits are there to make up the difference in the skill gaps. Just an option for those who need them, they still have to do the rest of the work on their own merits.
Dark Souls did this a lot too but had even more wiggle room. So much in fact that you didn't have to even try if you were willing to go full cheese.
the cracker is sold by a vendor in outskirts, and it's not the thief guy
I actually missed them too and had to ask people about it. The location is pretty dumb, you need to find a specific grapple point to the left on the path between grandma and dying son and the place where and asshole starts shooting a cannon at you.
the merchant right next to where you find the Tengu for the first time also sells the Firecrackers, you really shouldn't miss them.
Is there an item similar to the the Bonfire Ascetic in DaS2 that lets me fight bosses again?
I finally beat NG+3 Bell Demon + No Kuro's Charm SSI, that took fucking forever jesus, I literally used all of my healing items, includying Kuro's rice ball and 3 loli rice, guess I must become a shota/lolicon as thanks.
