Can Bethesda ever be good again? Personally I think they can recover but they have to stop fucking around and put some actual thought into what made their hits so good and not keep making generic shit

morrowind up until fo3 they were making some pretty good games, not without faults but not bad games. skyrim was just too boring, too safe, and it got the normies bagged. thats when all of the rpg elements got stripped, laziness kicked in, and they stopped caring

My back was always turned towards them and I'm glad the gaming world has finally come to see things the way I always have
I tried Morrowind on Original Xbox because it was like $5 used at Gamestop or somewhere in like 2006 when stores were starting to purge old Xbox games
Had never heard of the series before and it was clunky and kind of a mess but the game seemed neat and impressive for its time
Same for Oblivion when it came out, really hated all the gameplay aspects and how messy it felt but the spectacle was nice, still, the game didn't interest me, but, this time, Oblivion BLEW UP and all of a sudden everyone was all over TeS and it just didn't make sense to me
And then some with Skyrim, which polished some stuff but was overall still a mess
In the mean time I also tried FO3 and NV and 3 was more of the same mess but with guns and while NV was the same engine wise, the stories and side quests managed to keep me going enough to where i got close enough to the end though i lost interest/patience
Regardless, people seemed to hold these buggy, messed up and extremely flawed games in such high regard and for years I felt like a crazy person, like there was something I just wasn't seeing or like everyone just had garbage taste in vidya, i never fully bought into that because i didn't want to seem like an ass but i always knew I never liked the games and now to finally see all of Bethesdas bullshit somehow be realized in TeS Online and FO76, its vindicating as fuck

I love Skyrim, a lot. Spent literal thousands of hours playing that game. I also loved Special Edition, it fixed a lot of performance issues and it runs amazingly well.

However I don't know if current Bethesda could do something of that scope and ambition again. It's probably not even Todd's fault.
