Merkabah and Lucifer being two halves of Satan is stupid. Merkabah doesn't need to exist, Satan already was Law's counterpart to Lucifer. It fits with the two being popularity considered the same being. He even functions as he does in II and rebels against YHVH.

The timeline of IV in general was pretty weird. I remember reading a pretty cool theory that IV/Apocalypse took place in an alternate universe of the SMT I & II universe since those two titles were connected as well. It's a meme theory, but it was a fun read.
