It was the introduction of Greenlight, a way through which crappy games could find their way onto steam. Shortly after Greenlight had been implemented Steam was flooded with stupid boring crap nobody plays. This has even scared big Triple AAA companies like Rovio and Mojang from introducing their games onto steam. Furthermore, smaller developers like Rockstar games have been hesistant to release PC ports of their games in response to the flood of crap onto Steam. Obviously letting Indie developers on Steam is doing nothing but hurting potential business partners. In addition, not long after greenlight Steam summer sales lost flash sales after a flood of people refunded Indie games after realizing how crap they are. Greenlight only hurts gaming by not letting potentially great games see the light of day. I am calling on all you fellow steam users to resist Steam’s low quality. Do not buy any more games on steam until Gabe gets off his sorry ass and bans indie games and greenlight once and for all.

Working with the grocery store analogy, it's more like 80% of the non name brand fruits and vegetables in the grocery store are rotten or mislabeled, meaning the other 19% that isnt of abnormally perfect quality goes unbought due to oversaturation caused by the shitty fruits. This leads to many independent and small farmers going out of business because no one will buy their fruits when they stick to the grocery market. So now, instead of sending their fruits to the grocery store, they are going to farmers markets to sell their quality fruits without being juxtaposed by all the shitty non brand name fruit. Has anyone used a VPN on steam? I'm trying to play a game I bought but for whatever reason it's region locked after I moved to another country. It worked fine before moving. I tried some VPNs but it seems that Steam knows the common VPN IPs or something, so I'm shit out of luck and support basically told me to buy it again. I understand that they may have issues with people abusing regional pricing this way, but in my case it's just playing something I bought legitimately.

I spent a good couple hours today just browsing "All New Releases" and like 80-90% of it was sliding-puzzle "Hentai Girl Dreams" shovelware with ecchi-at-best pictures as rewards, or $5-10 RPGMaker shit with $4 "remove censorship" DLCs, and this one company that shovels out poorly-proportioned babbys-first-3d-model tier dancing animegirls as like, 40 different games with little to no variation, and one company that seems to have a monopoly on porting over the aforementioned RPGMaker HGames + separate uncensored dlc, a good 50+ in their offerings. The worst thing I saw though was this...one weird fucking company. They just sell games that are Match-2 card-flip games. There's like...a half dozen different ones. Most of them themed around having Animals or Vegetables for Card Backs. You don't have to browse through anything. You only do it if you want to for some autistic reason. Most people don't do that because they're not fucking stupid. There are means to find good games that are much more effective than randomly browsing Steam.
If you want more games released for the niches you like you need to accept that everyone will be able to release games, no matter the quality. You don't want to trust quality control to a bunch of Seattle employees who will certainly not have the same taste as you and will likely not approve a bunch of the niche games that you like.
