It has a mature story with complex characters, good gameplay, and phenomenal OST. I don't really want to spoil too much because it's best to just experience it blind, but it's definitely the best Pokemon game out there, period, and I think that's one thing all of Yea Forums can agree on.

I guarantee it's better than any RPG you're playing right now.

I played pokemon black years ago and hated it, dropped it midway, then did a simulplay with friends on volt white 2 and blaze black 2 and it was fun as hell,I loved it.

I used to think I hated gen 4 just because it was the gen that came out when I was in high school (and as such going through that "I'm too old for this" phase) but I tried playing Platinum a year or so ago and I was just bored I couldn't bother getting past the second gym. It's nowhere near as bad as gen 7 (or 6, even though I actually did enjoy XY for some fucking reason) but it's still a massive step down after the first three and from what little I remember of the one time I played White, 5 as well.

Multiplayer is the whole point of Pokemon... That's why they release two versions.

I have the best memories from Gen 4. It's the gen where I got almost all of my current favorites, the one I had the most fun playing online and competitive (by far the best competitive Pokemon has had with a really good metagame) and the one with most of my favorite music in the franchise. That and the winter setting in Platinum sold me even more, I love snowy settings so much, so Snowpoint City as small as it was easily became my favorite town of all.

It's astounding how many people's least favorite Gens are 6 or 7.

3D wasn't a mistake. Gamefreak's lazy implementation of it is a mistake. They're just overall absolute shit developers that got lucky and very rarely hit the nail.

Sunflora a shit. Literally a sunflower with a smiley face and the epitome of lazy design. Also encompasses most of the complaints people have with Gen II's dex. It gets no sympathy from me.

Specifically, Emerald. Gen 4 was also very good, but Emerald's Battle Frontier really sold it as my favorite game and subsequently my favorite generation, but it's a close race.
I enjoyed gen 5 a lot, but upon revisiting it, it has a lot of what people consider gen 6 started with overly lengthy dialogue/story segments and pretty weak gym leaders.

Gen 6 was definitely not good, and I'm aware that I'm only saying this because of how bad Gen 7 is, but it gets more hate than it deserves. It baffles me that people can say any Gen 6 game is worse than SM/USUM when both of them at least ATTEMPTED some innovation and enjoyment. They were both piss-easy, sure, and ORAS is an objective downgrade to the originals in nearly every way, but XY's online system was pretty good and Friend Safari was at least SOMETHING to show for an endgame. Even ORAS had the DexNav, and the endgame Island, while yet another battle tower, at least had a bunch of move tutors and an extra daycare and they bothered to make the island loop around so you could farm eggs. It's an extremely minor thing, but after Gen 7, the bar for endgame content has been lowered to "literally just a battle tower and nothing else".
I could go on and on about how godawful Gen 7 is but it's nothing that hasn't already been said.
The only people who say Gen 6 is worse than Gen 7 are people who haven't played Gen 6, or are just still (understandably) upset by the lowering of quality that they'll rate it as the worst despite the quality of Gen 7 dipping even lower.
Moving on.

Objectively the most perfect Pokemon design. Doesn't need an evolution because there is literally no way to improve upon it. Honorable mentions go to Cofagrigus and Toxicroak.

It's one of those horrible genies combined with being a smogonfag favorite. There are worse designs, but overall I dislike Landorus more than any other Pokemon.
