me

LGBT is the worst. At least it sold like shit in based Nippon land

Now post R/B./Y teams.
You know, the ones where the champion has pokemon without full movesets.

On a slightly unrelated note.
>play an emerald romhack with the spec/phys split and some new gen IV+ moves.
>challenge the battle frontier
>get 3 silver symbols reasonably easy.
>mfw battle pyramid
This is some pretty wild shit, why didn GF expand on this and just the battle frontier in general.
This actually pretty fun and challenging.

Attached: unnamed.jpg (900x900, 69K)

honestly, they were. Going from how amazing Unova was to Kalos was a big disappointment. Alola was a slight improvement. Hopefully Gen 8 finally learns from Gen 6's failures

Attached: 1506376379541.jpg (640x536, 116K)

Gen 5 was terrible

It forced Gamefreak to continue developing on the DS instead of moving to the 3DS

If Gen V was never made, then XY would've been improved even more.

BASED

You have to admit, his dedication for the love of koffing is quite admirable

Masuda said Zoomers won't play it so they don't see it as worth the effort.

it's more playable than RBY, but RBY were good games for the time, they just aged

the best Pokemon game overall is B2W2, a shame since Unova is a dogshit region

It's weird that you say that, but refuse to acknowledge Tierno's passion and obsession for dancing to the point where one of his pokemon's only move is a dance.

>the best Pokemon game overall is B2W2

*Laughs in HGSS*

oh no what a travesty

Attached: scrub.png (784x581, 72K)

WRONG!!!! Black and White and X and Y were develop around the same time. Gamefreak was already working for the 3ds. The real problem are the genwunner who cause Gen 6 to be shit. Look at the mega evolution (before ORAS) and regional variant, nothing but Kanto pokemon. Your character came from Kanto in both 3ds games. You can't fully blame Gamefreak when the fans are also the problem.

Go back and replay it, without the magic of the first playthough (following animations, side ton of minor side content you won't touch on a second run, or the environmental noises, you're left with gen 2's flaws on gen 4's awful engine.

obsessed

I can't actually deny it since I never actually challenged it untill now, but it's still sucks.

>Leer PLUS Tailwhip
>Bite
>Withdraw
>Psybeam + Psychic

LGPE takes the cake for that.
>fans praise a game for removing content and compatibility

>Leer
>Tail Whip
>Fury Attack
>Horn Drill

really impressive full moveset, bub

HGSS are great aside from shit like this. Wish the gen 2 remakes were made in gen 5.

I heard it sold extremely well in both regions, sadly

I played it a few weeks back, I'd take it any day over Gen 5 or any other pokemon game that isn't randomized Crystal

>they can only beat the elite 4 by using min-maxed pokemon
it takes a real trainer to win with tail whip

This is a nice and aesthetically pleasing team

Attached: 1873487384.png (705x547, 127K)

I hope you know that GF doesn't program movesets and just let the Pokemon have whatever they would from leveling up naturally. Every game is like this. Every game is easy shit. You're just older and wiser now. Its literally a kids game.

Wrong. Post Barry from Platinum. Easily the best rival/trainer of any game.

this

Diantha wasn't a very memorable fight but she has the best champion theme

The parts that mattered to me were fixed in HGSS. Such as having catchable Kanto legends.

based

Yep because SM exsists

One of the very few story trainers to actually have a strategy.

with less moves, their less likely to use random shitty ones

woah some turboautist nitpick game is BTFO

what's his strategy? I'm not good at pokémans and I don't see anything special about that team

Slaking is powerful, but as an ability which makes him attack only every other turn.
Slowking uses skill swap to switch his ability with Slaking's (Truant), then uses skill swap to pass truant to one of your mons.
Scizor will also try and get buffs with Silver Wind and Swords Dance, then pass those buffs to another pokemon with Baton Pass.

Have you seen the movesets for gen 4/5? Even the roserade in op was deliberately retarded because of the owner.

he isn't even trying to be a trainer, he's just some faggot that wants to dance with pokemon and his team reflects that
he's 1 of 3 "rivals" from that generation

I only won that fight because his Tyranitar's Blizzard missed my Flygon.

Nice rematch tho

It also walled children and casuals so hard that all pokemon developers gave up on making a challenging game ever again.

>mfw Gastly invalidates two of his Pokemon

Believe me, it wasnt because of Colosseum.

I had no idea you could use skill swap to remove a negative ability like Truant from an ally (never played a teamfight pokémon game before), that's a pretty neat trick.

Absolute chad team.

Attached: 1550623351273.jpg (186x158, 10K)

we don't because dancing it's fucking stupid for a fat person

might as well ask here. stopped playing pokemon after pearl and I'm wanting to get back in. I'm currently playing through ash gray as my gen 1 experience. I know hgss are well liked so I'll go with those for gen 2, but oras seem to catch a lot of flak especially around here. I had already fallen out of favor with pokemon by gen 3 so I don't have the massive nostalgia for emerald that a lot of people here do. would it be a good experience to play through oras, then hop onto a mostly completed save of emerald to do battle frontier?

Attached: 6d9569fd752af2e5a629d30b12fb7f8b.jpg (520x829, 228K)

The devs of Colosseum were different people entirely, it wasn't really their decision to make.

Tierno is not an admirable person in general. He was irritating and if he was cut out of the game entirely, it would be fine.

A challenger appears.

Attached: Untitled.png (793x683, 77K)

You may as well just play any of the 10000 386+ romhacks with the phy/spc split and stronker trainers. ORAS is a downgrade.

Pokemon Stadium is such bullshit, stil haven't beaten round 2

are there any trainers that come close to having even a remotely meta team?

We all know that deep down inside he's ALWAYS going to use Dragonair because of how stupidly strong guaranteed 40 damage was in this cup.

Only thing that stopped my R2 Pika cup was the Gyrados that would ALWAYS connect Thunder. Literally went through that cup like 7 times and literally never missed me and I didn't feel like resetting a new game to teach mine Thunderbolt. R2 is built around you grinding/hacking TMs because virtually every Pokemon in RBY has a dogshit move pool otherwise.

>wrap dragonair
>blizzard kanga
>explosion golem
>that entire zam set
>submission machamp
>FUCKING BOLTBEAM/T-WAVE STARMIE

Attached: YAMEROOOOOOO.jpg (640x448, 122K)

In mainline? Hell no, the ai's really lazy.

>he's always going to use Dragonair
You want him to use Dragonair. If he picks Alakazam, you lose. The only possible way to kill it with rentals is a lucky freeze, and you have 1 try.

I'm more impressed about the fact that he got a budew to a roserade with just petal dance

B A S E D
how is barry so based ?

why are people using tierno, a "side" rival, and not the other character or Shauna?

Reminder
>this is the final boss of the Pika Cup
>you have pokemon that are only 75% of Zam's level
>this is gen 1 so Zam has sky high sp def
>nearly every rental has a legendarily trash moveset

This is the most basic but still fucking annoying bullshit

SM are the worst pokemon games as far as hampering series direction. XY were missed potential because they felt rushed and a Z release might have been one of the best pokemon games of all time. The first half of XY is absolute kino and if that momentum carried to the rest of the game, it wouldn't be such a let down. But I'll still play XY again before touching SM's cutscene fest.

>tfw he STILL beat Agatha
Why is Blue such a chad.

>"WOW STORY IN AN RPG"
fuck people that use this defense, other rpg's have skippable cutscenes and faster text

there are also people who unironically like Lillie

>waaaah story in an rpg

>SM's sorry excuse for a story

Princess Maker had a much more compelling development.

It would've taken like 10 seconds for you to look at literally any gym leader's team from gen 4+ to see that you're retarded.

This is harder than you think, all pokemon in gen 1 had garbage movesets.

D/P/Pt are called Bidoof version for a reason. They will always be the worst unless their remake fixes the glaring flaw in that the Pokemon variety sucks ass on top of it being a mediocre, forgettable experience.

It actually sold pretty well.
Wasn't bad at all desu. The only people who don't like it are the ones who formed opinions before playing. I didn't like it either but once I bit the bullet and bought it I ended up really enjoying it.

>"lillie's family drama: the story ft. crossing a bridge"

how did they get away with this

The scarfed Chandelure though especially is pretty nasty if you're not ready for it.

The weather wars?

>want to play sinnoh
>remember that it is an absolute hell with HM's everywhere

Still better than the shitfest that was BW's story which people praise to high heaven

the story in sm was an extreme pace breaker with you being interrupted every 20 minutes to watch something happen
and don't even get me started on the laziest blockades the series has ever had

Attached: 1508450732393.png (256x256, 55K)

X and Y had tons of flaws, but honestly I love the gen because almost all the pokemon added were amazing. I also loved the veriety of pokemon on each route.

There was a lot going on there

Attached: 1553550062332.png (557x1136, 756K)

The best story in pokemon is no story. The more of it there is, the worse off the game is. Gen 7's got more interruptions of silent text dumps than any other game

To add on, he's actually harder if you chose Bulbasaur, the arcanine is just shitty

Attached: blue.png (700x449, 72K)

Whats wrong with Platinum? I get D/P they were very slow and had a mediocre selection of Pokemon.

the tutorial is two hours long
>what wrong with that?
its two hours, ONLY counting cut scenes and not gameplay

>the Pokemon variety sucks
maybe if you're a firefag (which PT fixed), DPPT have fine replay value and available pokemon

Do you have ADD?

Yellow says you're retarded.

Did you play USUM? The tutorial takes fucking forever and it's MANDATORY. On a casual playthrough, it's well over an hour and a half.

I couldn't even start SM. I was so annoyed, every time I tried to start, it took ages to even get my starter, I just turned it off.

Did this all the time with Regigigas, teamed him with a Pure Power Medicham. (Or maybe Huge Power, whatever) Swap the attack boost onto him, then if I'm lucky I can stick Slow Start on an opponent. Fun stuff.

What's ADD about not wanting to sit through insanely slow and boring text? The story and cutscenes more padded than the English essays I had to write for school

How it should be:
>rival/trial captain waves you towards them
>"hey the next trial's down that way, they specialize in this type, bet I beat it before you do!"
>done

How it is:
>fade to black
>hau walks up
>hand wave
>"Alola!"
>lillie walks up, stops in place, turns, and continues moving
>slow camera pan
>"umm you're so cool and brave my mom buys my clothes i have to protect nebby"
>hau puts his hands on the back of his head and grins
>"haha we're all having fun i'm going to see where the malasada shop is!"
>lillie mumbles some inane garbage and leaves
>goes 90 degrees north, stops and turns, begins walking to the east

>the Fisher has several illegal pokemon
false.
Every Pokemon Fisher has is obtainable in Yellow.
If you don't know how to get a lv.20 Dragonair, you are trash.

The only real issue with S&M is that there's no cutscene skip. It's good that Game Freak bothered to try and make the games have more of a JRPG feel and put some more effort in for once, but it really hampers replays and it hurts the experience for people who want a more classical Pokemon game runthrough.

The golem's impossible to get outside of Japanese blue, and you cant get a Machamp that low leveled without porting from gen 2

Maybe if you count the entire first island as a "tutorial"

>>here's a free KANTOOOOO starter
this just pissed me off. Gen 6's starters didn't even have a chance to shine in their own gen because of it

Is it me or do way too many trainers in Sinnoh have a gyarados?

im pretty sure every gym leader has their mons with their tm moves, even back in gen 1

>elemental hyper beams
>snorlax with special moves

yikes

one of the coolest teams in gen 1

Attached: lorelai.png (800x607, 54K)

They did, but later gens had the mons with more than just the Gym-specific TM.

Pikachu should have been evolved.

Because confusion is one of the best status effects, especially for the AI.

>not knowing what Light Ball does
in the trash you go

The lowest level Cubone you can get from gen 1 is level 16, from Yellow's Safari Zone. All trades give you a pokemon of equal level. It's close to being possible in gen 1, but it's not as low as level 15

>this just pissed me off. Gen 6's starters didn't even have a chance to shine in their own gen because of it
I always use the Kalos starters along with the Kanto starters. Greninja and Charizard make a really good duo.

i get it.

>Gives you a kanto starter
>Makes Shantalune forest the exact same as viridian forest
>Ensures that your first encounter is always a Pidgey
>Gives 2 megas for charizard and Mewtwo
>Makes Mewtwo and the legendary birds possible encounters in the game even though it makes no fucking sense
>Features more gen 1 pokemon than new pokemon in the pokedex
>Makes Snorlax a roadblock again
>Gifts you a Lapras that has a special surf animation
>Ruin your already garbage region by not giving it any worthwhile features of it's own, instead relying on making everything a Kanto throwback
DUDE REMEMBER GEN 1??

Attached: 1538851672056.jpg (290x174, 6K)

pun

I left the kanto starter at the lab and never went back for it. I'm tired of using them, hell i'm tired of seeing them in general.

>Lowest level Machoke obtainable is level 16 via trading a Cubone caught in the Safari Zone
>Lowest level available Golem possible is 16 from trading a Kadabra for one in JP Blue (only possible to get level 15 if you caught one in Gen II)
A level 15 Kangaskhan is possible, but you need to get a level 15 Golduck from Yellow, trade it for a Rhydon, and then take that Rhydon and transfer it for JP Blue in exchange for one. Everything else is legit level-wise, but Machamp knowing Low Kick is illegal since the Machop line doesn't learn it until 20 at the earliest

I know what it does, and that it's particular to Pikachu, but I think it should work for Raichu, too. Besides that, even a Pikachu with Light Ball isn't stronger than a Raichu, unless I'm mistaken.

>Makes Mewtwo and the legendary birds possible encounters in the game even though it makes no fucking sense
this was neither the first game nor region to do that

I thought that Gen 1 was the absolute best one that everyone wants to see over and over again.

The kanto situation's a vicious circle if ever i saw one
>shoehorn kanto into everything, not letting new regions even have their own identity
>games sell well because it's Pokemon and the games will never not sell well
>"dohoho it must be the kanto references!"
>shoehorn kanto into everything

>but Machamp knowing Low Kick is illegal since the Machop line doesn't learn it until 20 at the earliest
Breeding a male and female who both know it lets the baby have it at level 1.

Not him but you're fucking stupid. You are so fucking stupid I want to come to your house and break every fucking keyboard within a 50 mile radius so you can never come here and force people to read your fucking stupid opinions and falsehoods again.

SM is still worse desu
Trainers in XY are pathetic but at least it had a few positive features, such as the PSS. SM has absolutely nothing.

Personally I enjoy all the gens for various reasons.

No matter how you look at it, that team's impossible without a game that didn't exist at the time.

Pikachu with Light Ball has doubled Special Attack, which is drastically stronger than Raichu. If you allowed Raichu to use the effects of Light Ball, it would be OU or they would outright ban the item.

Let's talk about making some of the shitty Types better. Starting with the Type that really needs an overhaul, the Ice type.

-remove its Rock weakness, make it neutral
-make it resist Normal, Fighting, and Water
-make it neutral against Water
-add more physical Ice-type moves that are worth a damn

Attached: maxresdefault.jpg (1280x720, 202K)

Literally the first gym of the first game has a TM-taught move with Brock's Onix knowing Bide.

Why? I just said Light Ball should work for Raichu and that I didn't think Light Ball made a Pikachu stronger than Raichu. I looked it up, and while it does boost Pikachu's attack stats a bit higher than Raichu's, Raichu is still faster and has better defenses and HP.
Maybe it should only increase them by 50% for Raichu, but I still think it's unfair that Raichu gets boned by GF because they like Pikachu better. I think Raichu looks cooler.

so you mean it never dropped in quality

No.

Just make Ice resist Ground and you'd fix a lot of problems.

>Higher Defense and Sp.Defense during hail
>Physical Freeze Dry, exclusive to Ice-Type pokemon
>Just make Ice pokemon that actually play to their type's strengths, like Weavile

How does that lone thing fix a lot of Ice's problems?

not him, but his intention is probably just to save it from Earthquake

that's not as bad as what SM did

Ground is neutral against Ice.

not to mention, the free beldum and torchic for XY and ORAS respectively if you got them early

You'd be giving Ice a resistance to the strongest attacking type in the game. You'd also be nerfing Ground types as a whole by giving them something to worry about as Ice types will now pose a series threat.

That one change does the following:
Makes Ice have a defensive niche.
Brings Ground down a peg offensively, nerfing Earthquake spam, Lando-T, Excadrill, Garchomp, etc.
Makes Faries a little less important as Dragon checks as Ice will rise in usage.
Slight nerfs to Flying, Dragon, Grass due to the rise in Ice types.
Slight buffs to defensive Fire and Water types.

Removing Steels resistances to Dark and Ghost in Gen 6 hurt those mons more than making them strong against Fairy helped.

Remove Fairy's Bug resist, make Fairy NFE on Ice

Ice is weak to Fire, Fighting, Steel, and Rock. Those are all common Types used for offense and are far more of a threat to Ice than a neutral Earthquake is. Physically-oriented bulky Ice-types like Mamoswine, Avalugg, and Abomasnow laugh at Earthquake and greatly threaten the Pokemon who use it best because they're Ground-types.

No. Ice should never be defensive. That's why it's shit right now - the best ice types are the fast ones or the ones who can bypass (i.e. ice shards mamoswine). Also you don't see Earthquake nerf much because doubles.

I don't understand this obsession with water and ice. Ice naturally melts in water. If anything they should just make Water not learn Ice Beam or similar.

Meta? No. But Ace Trainers are usually competent even if the team is just 6 strong guys with attacking moves of different types.

D/P have an alright selection of Pokemon. Play through any game prior and the selection is even worse. ESPECIALLY Johto, which wasn't fixed in the remakes. Platinum is second only to B2/W2 in terms of balance and Pokemon variety.

B2/W2 and Platinum are peak Pokemon. Everything afterwards has been a huge decline in quality. Gen 6 started off terrible and got worse, and Gen 7 has been shit from start to finish. Should've known a company who decided to add a "Fairy" type to balance the games, and ended up making them more imbalanced than ever, wouldn't be able to make good games anymore. They don't know what they're doing, and I'm beginning to think B2/W2 were flukes.

Ice freezes Water. If anything Ice should be super-effective against Water and not just with Freeze-dry, because being chilled and frozen is something a Water-type shouldn't want happening to it, and Water being NVE against Ice makes sense because the coldness of the Pokemon chills the water.

cold freezes water, not ice

I'm not saying Ice needs to be defensive, giving it a Ground resist would still make it a bad defensive type. It would however make it less shit while also making the best offensive type a little worse at the same time. Its not about making Ice "good," its about making the game overall more balanced.

>D/P have an alright selection of Pokemon
Unless you were a fan of or needed Fire-types on your team. D/P had all of the Chimchar line, the Ponyta line, and Heatran. Platinum might have alleviated it somewhat but it still only added Flareon, the Houndour line, and the Magmar line.

And ice is cold.

The thing is, movepools and Pokemon were generally much weaker in gen 1, and Blue still had some of the strongest Pokemon in the game. Alakazam, Exeggutor, and Rhydon are 3 of the 10 most used Pokemon in Gen 1 comp, and even knowing Psychic + Psybeam, that Alakazam is a run ender.

A big issue is the whole move system as it is now.
If all named moves were effectively replaced with a new system, things could be better.
The system would be this: You actually teach your Pokemon moves you build. You can teach Pokemon with fists to punch, and then teach them to punch with an element on their fist, and then punch while aiming at a specific body part, like the other Pokemon's neck, as a weak point. Adding status effects will require more precision, so the punch itself will be weaker. Etc.
And Pokemon now are each made up of multiple segments, which have different rates of defense and strength. For example, turtle Pokemon have great defense on their shells, and a Pokemon just attacking will likely just attack the shell. But a Pokemon trained to aim for the neck will attack the turtle's neck, and do more damage. But a Girafarig may present some trouble, as the Pokemon may attack the second neck and do little damage.
Now each Pokemon has limits on which effects they can even learn, too. Some Pokemon, like Alakazam, could learn complex strategies, while others, like most Bug Pokemon, could learn only basic strats. And How many strats you could learn would depend upon a Pokemon's memory. Also, a Pokemon's type would be differently determined. Instead of just a simple label, it'd be a combination of what effects they could apply, as well as what effects they could resist. Some could learn powerful Ice moves, while also naturally being weak to hot attacks, so they'd be "Ice," but it'd actually be a complex thing more similar to how actual monsters would work.

What about the:
>Terrible Pokemon diversity
>Very few new Pokemon until post-game
>Awkward level/difficulty curve leaving trainers with level 25 Raticates next to gym leaders/bosses with level 40+ Kingdras, Houndooms, and Dragonites
>Genuinely awful dowsing mechanic, one of the worst in the series'
>Not a single interesting or creative route in the entire Johto region, aside from 47/48, which just lead to the Safari zone and are remake exclusive
>Single use TM's
>Move deleter is in the final town in Johto
>Towns in general are empty
>New Pokemon trickle in very rarely, you're stuck with the same 30 or so for the whole game until you beat Team Rocket, by which point you would already have a full, diverse team in every other game
>Small, barren Kanto

I just replayed HG/SS, and I can't even say I prefer them over Emerald. They were by far the best remakes, but I'd consider OR/AS to be the better Pokemon games, even though they added very little, took out some features, and left us with Zinnia. At least the level curve in Hoenn was reasonable, the routes were interesting and diverse, there were a good amount of Pokemon to choose from, and you have reusable TM's.

What the fuck is this?

it's always HGSS fags that are cancer

I hate that the NPC AI is still absurdly even in USUM, like it's always been
sometimes I even give a round to the enemy just out of curiosity, I base a lot of my moveset in status/non-damaging moves too, and they still use a move that makes absolutely NO sense at all for a normal trainer with a chinpanzee intellect to be using, like for example spam moves that will fail or have no effect givem the circunstances, or worst... use a non-damaging move when they have speed advantage agaisnt my red HP pokémon, in his last breath, as if they're begging me to win agaisnt them anyway

the worst of this all? gamefreak still poses some "lead" enemy or boss as a bit harder than usual, but then it's back to Down Syndrome Victory Road and disappointment

Attached: 800px-Caspar_David_Friedrich_-_Wanderer_above_the_sea_of_fog.jpg (800x1024, 169K)

Nah we were supposed to get a second platinum for XY but forego that because KANTOOOOO anniversary.

not cold enough to freeze water, sea water for instance is hot and there's a reason the ice floes never freeze its surroundings

XY is such a slog because of the absolute shit pacing. It's the final mainline game I'm doing a shitmon playthrough in, and I always have to stop playing after 2 hours. All the other games, even the Alola games with their extreme lineary, could play for hours at a time.

Also FUCK route 13 in Kalos!

But they've been programming movesets literally since Yellow of Gen 1. It's just that they only really do it for boss battles for obvious reasons.

HGSS was pretty standard crap, I had more fun with DPP
BW2 is also overrated, I had more fun with BW1 even tho it's not as big. The beggining in that forest environment is way more neat than through those dead first 3 routes and cities that have only seasonal effects to give life to it
Anyways here's what's more important: the top 3 rank would be

DPP
Emerald
USUM

with no HGSS or BW2 in sight. I know this kills the over the top normalfag of the hive that follows trends religiously, but it's simply the truth

See
We both agree that Ice needs buffs. However I don't think Fire, Fighting, Steel and Rock need nerfing just to fix up one of Ice's problems. Ground however could use a nerf and by making Ice better at the expense of making Ground worse kills two birds with one stone.

Just making one change to the type matchup chart can have huge effects on the meta as a whole. Just by making Ice a little better and Ground a little worse will inadvertently nerf Flying and Grass in the meta as Ice will be more common and Ground less, Dragons to a lesser extent might go down in useage by buffing Ice. Electric types would see a rise in usage at the expense of Ground as well. At the same time most Ground types would have to pack Stone Edge or a Steel/Fire/Fighting move for Ice types, giving them less coverage. Giving Ice types the ability to safely come in on a Pokemon's Earthquake, probably the most common coverage move (for good reason), and then threaten them with a strong attack would be a huge buff in practice.

Would this instantly cause Regice to become top tier for instance? No, but it would become a far more viable pick as a defensive mon.

The final boss in the sequel to this is also pretty bullshit since you fight shadow lugia immediately before him so he effectively has a 7-mon team.

this is a very autistic post

is it a pasta

Literal autism

I don't like Fire type Pokemon to begin with. It's my least favorite non-Fairy type.

Attached: Starters.png (1886x1296, 991K)

Just him alone is tough if you go for the six captures. You can use your Master Ball on Lugia, since nothing is harder to catch.

Not him, but in a twisted sort of way, I miss Weather Wars. It was chaotic in a somewhat interesting way. Or at least better than the Flying and Priority Spam of Gen 6 and "Nothing is a counter anymore due to Z-Moves" of Gen 7.

I dunno you try it - leave an ice cube in a half glass of water

Gen 7 does a lot of it too.
>Here's a free nuke button that's strong against the totem you're about to face
>also here's a bunch of revives and healing items
>oh and if Rotodex likes you a lot, you get TWO nuke buttons as well!
>also we buffed X Items and we're gonna give you a much while we're at it too

This I have to agree with, Gamefreak loves making Trainer battles really easy and short lately.

Gen4 OU

the discrepancy between elite 4 lvs is too high
you can't have a lv 53 in one team and a lv 61 in the other, you normally don't go more than 1 level for each unless you're using some dump exp share + exp bonus combo, which makes the game piss eazy

>OU & Dewgong - The Team

>>Features more gen 1 pokemon than new pokemon in the pokedex
AND THEN THEY DID IT AGAIN FOR THE ALOLA DEX

I'm just waiting for Sword & Shield to fellatio Kanto again and have the latest gimmick heavily cater to Kanto so I can justify myself once more for pirating this shit

>Infernape is God
>Volt Switch doesnt exist
Huehuehuehue

That's how Gay Freak feels after stinky Westerners shat all over Unova.
We caused all this Kanto Pandering ourselves. If we just acceped Unova for what it did instead of screeching about trash bags and ice cream...

>Features more gen 1 pokemon than new pokemon in the pokedex
Sounds like gen 2

Top 5 Finals are Blaziken, Empoleon, Chesnaught, Incineroar, and a tie between Blastoise and Torterra, in that order. Whoever put Gatr/Roar/Terra in Bad while Greninja is in God and Serperior is in Top is a complete dumbass.

Attached: 1529013515092.jpg (500x375, 26K)

X and Y only have 3 battles with trainers with full teams of 6:
The final battle/rematch with your rival
Diantha
The obligatory 6 Magikarp guy

If it were up to me, every trainer after the 4th gym would have at least 3 Pokemon, all of the ones after the 6th gym would have 4 or 5, and all of the ones after the last would have 5 or 6.

I never said it was perfect. Infernape was never that OP.

nah they're vorefags

>no ludicolo on a dance-themed team

At least Johto had the excuse of being directly attached to Kanto even though it's arguably the worst region because of it and I don't like the fact either

>Incineroar

Attached: 1554526011746.jpg (750x710, 51K)

It's really terrible in Ultra Sun/Moon where you have to fight 50 or so Rainbow Rocket grunts who only have two Pokemon each.

Just fucking give me fewer trainers with more Pokemon!

Fighting doesn't need another nerf.
Neither does Normal.
All Ice needs to do is resist either Flying OR Ground

Why not resist Grass?

Grass is already pretty bad offensively so no.

So what? Fuck Grass

Because 7 types already resist Grass. Do we really need nearly half the types in the game to resist Grass, which already have 5 weakness, 3 being extremely common attacking types?
Grass should resist Fairy tho

We get it, you masturbate to Landorus and don't want to see Ground getting nerfed.

I have come to spread the truth: psychic should SE and resist Fairy because intelligence > mystical bullshit

Attached: 1530253618012.jpg (800x640, 161K)

XY is in fact the first time Mewtwo was available outside of Cerulean Cave in a mainline game.

it's really funny when people say the "fire grass water is a perfect circle" when in reality water > fire > grass due to their options, with some only breaking out due to their niche's (i.e. Incineroar's impressive support, Serperior's ability and moveset, etc.)

Attached: 1444354760811.jpg (651x720, 89K)

Attached: 1541538968377.jpg (1024x713, 85K)

Mewtwo is in cerulean cave in HGSS

There are some exceptions, like Venusaur > the other 2, but in general you're right.

nvm I misread

Venusaur is a prime example - Blastoise is practically left in the dust because it didn't really get a boost compared to the dickriding Charizard got and Venusaur's ability.

that's my point^

This is very autistic.

Why switch two Gym Leaders with two E4 members?

Attached: gen 4.webm (640x360, 2.79M)

>If it were up to me, every trainer after the 4th gym would have at least 3 Pokemon, all of the ones after the 6th gym would have 4 or 5, and all of the ones after the last would have 5 or 6.

Trainers should have more pokemon on average, but that sounds like a fucking slog. Not every trainer you bumble across is supposed to be a major threat or time commitment.

>Werster Stadium speedruns
>If that Alakazam comes out, he declares a loss.

youtu.be/0Iy9oqjQXl8?t=24702

pls no bully

Probably because Flint and the bug guy look plain as fuck, not at all like some of the best of the best.

Actually, 2-3 levels between each E4 member is pretty standard. Going back to Gen 1, Lorelei's strongest was Lapras at level 56, Bruno had a level 58 Machamp, Agatha had a level 60 Gengar, and then Lance had his level 62 Dragonite. Then Blue went one step beyond that trend with his level 65 starter. Pretty sure that pattern kept up through at least Gen 4, until Gen 5 let you face them in any order you wanted.

What rematch?

They just fit better that way.

There's a battle in Emerald's victory road right at the end that does this with Gardevoir and two Slakings and its a real kick in the dick if you let it happen.

Attached: 1544466292561.png (612x717, 114K)

Just because you bought it doesn't mean you have to praise it. See: "Literally every discussion about Gen 6 on this very board"

>N had four different teams for all weather shenanigans
God BW2 had a satisfying endgame.

One thing that Gen 8 did right was the pokedex entries.

XY had shades of surprises too. I remember that double fight with Furfrou can catch people off guard since it happens early.

Soul

Soulless

Uberd used to be so fun in Gen 6, who the fuck is Necrozma Dark mane and why does he have literally 100% usage

>Platinum is the worst
kill yourself or never post here again on anything of any subject concerning taste

Ok, so imagine if everyone had 6 pokemon on one team.

Now, Necrozma Dusk Mane is 2 in one. So you essentially have 7 pokemon. 7 pokemon, and both versions of Necrozma hardcounter all setup sweepers and Xernea. You've essentially created the best pokemon in the game, bar Groudon, who is basically the equivalent of putting a Mugen Dragon Character into SFV

BW1&2 because content, i guess?

>Glitchless
Whats even the point of watching a 2 hour speedrun

Unskippable cutscenes most likely.
Those games have more content then you probably remember. XY is easy as fuck to speed run as they literally give you a God Tier mon in Mega Lucario.

URF HURF DURR HURRF

Attached: final_5c86b533ce689b0014fb8179_2852.webm (720x720, 2.66M)

Platinum famously fixed a lot of the speed problems DP had.

>slightly sped up footage

Because its faster than you can normally beat the game, dipshit.

>DURRR YOU BEAT FFVII IN 7 HOURS, HOW IS THAT A SPEEDRUN?!

XY doesn't have a tad amount of cutscenes though.

It has more than you probably remember. There are tons of them in the first quarter of the game. XY also has a bunch after the 6th/7th gyms.
The routes and caves in it, while linear, are a bit longer than in most games.

Are there really people who play pokemon in any way other than on an emulator at 15x speed?

I wish a new Pokemon game would come out, and while still having a vanilla town with the 3 big starters, I would like to start out at a different town with thematically region specific starters. After that, no bullshit locking you out of routes or towns.

You would have to solve the scaling issue if you could do any area at any time, maybe every gym badge would just level up the world.

That didnt answer my question, why the fuck would you watch a glitchless 2 hour speedrun of a game

That'a because Masuda, it was fucking hard as hell for kids to make an semi-optimal team let alone a single pokemon in god damn Gen 3 along with the lack of strategy guides. Now we got fucking GTS and internet guides. Do it you lazy fuck.

Probably because you either like speedruns or the game in question being run, dummy. What kind of retarded question is that?

No I distinctly recall it having some long dialogue, but nothing the A button can fix unlike a certain Gen. Also you didn't have a retard "cinematic attempt" with a girl. The worst you have are your three pals stopping you for a fight.

You should play Platinum, it has some cool BF shit with the Castle awarding you points as you go. But gen 3 had the more adventurous (and bullshit) BF.

it's honestly a shame that he has to speak in front of a camera, because barring let's piss, his games weren't that bad (and generally are great foundations)

the cancer are Ohmori and Iwao

NExt gen did it. But as GF pointed out, no one ever listened to it.
youtube.com/watch?v=KGE2hzmz7W0

No, the cancer is Masuda influencing Ohmori. People forget Ohmori did level design earlier in the series, back when the games had actual fucking dungeons. Dude can do good if Masuda lets him off his leash.

I felt that the routes and caves were short as fuck, probably because if you didn't explore you could easily traverse it unlike previous gens were you had to explore to get through. Like the desert all you had to do was hold down and the caves were linear fucks. Maybe I just got good.

I really liked Iris' champion theme. Plus she's cute.

But i gotta give it up to my man Guzma. I fucking love his theme, his character, and his pokemon

youtube.com/watch?v=OwzjXOPbz9Q

If you want the real gen 3 experience go with Emerald. Serves that you get a brief step back and remember how the game was played before the split. Pick a Romhack if you want a challege or something.

user he was off the leash in both ORAS and SM, meanwhile regardless of their quality the games he did - RS, FRLG, DP, BW, and XY have great foundations that third versions/sequel show greatness - which sadly the last one didn't see.

>LGBT
what?

>user he was off the leash in both ORAS and SM
lmao no he fucking wasn't. Are you for fucking real? The conversation we are just having right now is because Masuda was like KIDS NO RIKE BATTLE FRONTIER THEY RIKE CELL PHONES!

I haven't been keeping up with the competitive meta. how did Z-Moves changed stuff?

exactly and my point was he shouldn't have spoken in the camera since the is shit at it

He was stalling you so other Rocket members could prepare to take over the radio tower

Can someone give me the rundown, is USUM in the same canon universe as SM or is it just it's own thing?

Attached: 1554405587306.png (446x460, 112K)

>exactly
So you're agreeing with me that Masuda was a problem with SM and ORAS, great.

Literally the same mindset as adding an invasive species to kill and invasive species.

Was a problem in speaking yeah, he was practically unrelated in SM and ORAS.

>Added a new type instead of making poison supereffective against ground.
Why the fuck would you do that? Make poison good against water if you're changing shit around

Those last three don't make sense.

People seem to have settled on Gens 1-5 being the main timeline and canon to each other then X/Y > ORAS > USUM being related to each other and SM just being an alternate universe to USUM.

Thought ground was supposed to be op lmao. Whoops. The purpose is to mimic fairy type nerfs and buffs with existing types.

He's right about the kids but he doesn't know how to get to his target audience.
Kids don't only play games on shitpads because it's easy since they happily engage in endless grinds of increasing difficulty (flappy bird/every fucking clone of that shit).
I mean even if mobile disgusts me, I can easily say that if that's the case then make pokemon mobile without the shit walking attached.

2>3>1>4=7>6>5. I can also write it as 2=3>1>4=7>6>5. Can someone give me Yea Forums's actual opinion on this because I can never get a good base off the community. At the end of the day its not entirely subjective, certain design decisions or playthroughs are boring, its just such a divisive question.

Ground IS OP but its because of how great it is an offensive typing.

Worse is they try to make you feel pity for these scrubs. Glad Hau gets called out on his bullshit real quick.

>Platinum and HGSS

I don't know what Unova did to chaff your ass but again, if you think BW2 is at the bottom of the series in terms of quality there is no use discussing things with you. You've got terrible fucking taste if that's your views on Pokemon.

Nah it's alright.

Gladion and Hau had a good dynamic together. It helps that they both have moments where they manage to do good (Hau calling Faba out is pretty good stuff).

What the fuck does Tierno ever do? And there was a whole thing about Trevor's parents abandoning him that is never brought up in the games until one sentence a the end, its so out of nowhere.

>brings practically nothing to the table defensively except for some BST

might as well leave the hive minds here

Whatever that city was in X and Y was the worst area in any pokemon game. That shit was so poorly designed

The P*ris stand in, Lumiose, the city of conspicuous fun-ruining power outages.

>gen 3 battle frontier
>fun
Your romhack must have changed some things, because that battle frontier is absolute RNG fuckery. Between pike and pyramid constantly hitting your team with status effects, to the factory where teams are blatantly chosen to fuck you out, to the one where your pokemon's actions are chosen by their nature, if they decide to attack at all.
It's better than nothing, but "fun" is about the last word I'd use to describe it.

Attached: 1552329445891.jpg (649x416, 51K)

:3

Pike is literally the easiest to gold. Factory is absolute horseshit though and the game throws some bullshit with 1HKO moves at you.

Attached: 1551561551531.png (493x281, 252K)

Pike is pretty easy because I did it as a kid with no fucking clue what I was doing. Factory was bullshit at times but I didn't have to use my shitmons. Pyramid is something I will not fucking touch though.

SM had some good characters. They could be bothersome but they had purpose. XY had three annoying nothing characters and the laziest rival character in the series.

Gen 7 returned to that gen 5 feeling of characters having distinctive personalities and mannerisms. It could get old having so many cutscenes but the characters themselves were mostly quite charming.

Also people can rag on ORAS for not having a frontier or for gen 7 for having a lackluster postgame, but gen 6 had fucking nothing for a postgame. Just fucking nothing.

Attached: 1552237746493.jpg (600x593, 81K)

>Your romhack must have changed some things, because that battle frontier is absolute RNG fuckery.
Finally someone agrees with me.
Actually, all pokemon post-game battle facilities are RNG faggotry except for the World Tournament. The World Tournament actually felt fair and fun.

Attached: japanese man performing culture.gif (640x480, 423K)

I was a retarded kid and I had fun with the battle frontier, Pike and Pyramid were the most fun too (along with the elimination tournament)

I have a wild and crazy idea, the likes of which no one has ever heard of: If the battle frontier is too hard, why not make it easier?

Too much work. Kids today wouldn't like it. I hope you understand.

Laziness. They're very aware of the faults of their pokemon games, how they kept building on what's there instead of re-working pokemon and their moves from the ground up to balance them. To admit they fucked up and need to put in some elbow grease and time to correct the issue is impossible for them.

Mr Masuda, rather than a post game battle frontier, why not include content like the sevii islands again?

Laziness. Why do that when you can re-sell a game with a couple of new legendaries instead and still make mad dosh from people who don't believe you'd dare to re-release a game with barely any tweaks?

Attached: Pokemon_UltraSun_Pokemon_UltraMoon.jpg (578x327, 179K)

Am I really expected to believe that kids today are all fucking retarded?

I wanna believe that them making LGPE got the Kanto out of their system before they started working on SWSH.

Actual answer was "we wanted to keep the experience faithful to the gen 1 titles"

>adds fucking Mega Evolutions and Alola Forms

Mr Masuda, if you don't want to so the battle frontier, the sevii islands or any previous content again, what exciting post game content will you bring us next time? I hope you don't make legendary spam a thing again after OR/AS and US/UM.

I don't think Masuda even has his hands in Sword and Shield. At least I sure fucking hope he doesn't.

>Roserade with only petal dance
Who thought this was okay?

Attached: 1526049669854.png (251x349, 74K)

gen 3 killed the series

It would be much easier in a sense if it came back now. We have streamlined breeding mechanics that didnt exist in gen 3/4 so that it's actually possible to breed pokemon that have good stats/natures and easy ways of EV training/removing EVs in order to redo them. We also have unlimited TMs instead of one time use ones so we can make reasonably good movesets without having to find other ways of getting multiples of useful TM moves

>mes

At least I beat X. Dropped Moon in a matter of hours and Pearl in about an hour.

SM may have had some drags, but Skull is the best villain team if only because they have camaraderie; something no other team has.
