Here's what I've heard others do. Take mining, gather a shit ton of mats on a bank alt then use that stuff for engi. You can keep tailoring without having to drop it and lose all your levels.

rogue assuming you get the jump and you have the materials to cast vanish/blind. you can kill a platewearer before they get out of CC, while naked in greys with a lvl one dagger, in the world of roguecraft video he does it to a r14 or something. but in groups you're not so great, you have to kind of play differently in BGs since the enemy tends to be in clusters with healers etc. world pvp though a rogue is king

A mage can beat a hunter without needing to cast. Blink into their dead zone, frost nova, fireblast, then start spamming arcane explosion. If hunter scattershots, just ice block it.

World of roguecraft was on an outdated patch that won't be in classic. That killing people while naked stuff won't be happening anymore. Also a frost mage can absolutely beat a rogue assuming 1:1 skill parity - just blink as soon as he cheap shots you and polymorph him.

I’ve tried all the classes in duels with pre raid bis and mage is the way to go. They’re amazingly strong with just dungeon gear. Warlocks don’t avoid damage, they tank it, so without gear they die fast.

I always thought warlocks were good because of fear and unlike mages they have a good heal and DoTs are also a pain in the ass to deal with for most classes in PvP but I'll probably still role a mage if they're better with just some dungeon gear

I've played shaman before, enjoy the utility more than anything else. In love with purge and grounding above everything else. I played shaman in retail vanilla but was usually a weirdo hybrid spec and no one in my group really cared, so while i did heal i couldn't offer advice based on that.
But with the caveat that it's private server experienc, I've healed 5mans (a lot) as a shaman on private servers - especially while gearing up, and it's pretty easy.
When lower geared, I ignored a lot of the pre-bis lists - as in i'd go for the gear but also wouldn't freak out about it. At low healing power and low mp5 (which you're going to be while gearing) i'd try my best to take advantage of the 5sec rule a lot, and i'd make sure the tank didn't do anything retarded. I was pretty lucky with decent groups for the most part, everyone was about as geared as i was since I was part of the leveling "pack".
Depending on level and spec it's even easier, since once you start putting points in resto it helps a bunch. The mana reduction is huge.

Anyhow, i don't have experience so can't compare it to other classes, but i'd say shamans are just fine for 5mans. I know that tanks and melee dps preferred me over any other healer based on wf totem alone so groups were easy.

by not that bad i mean obviously clearing naxx is harder than clearing MC, but with mc you have to get lucky on the drop chance for the stupid bindings, or the eye for sulfuras, you might get unlucky and never get one. with atiesh the shards drop so often your guild is guaranteed one before long (assuming again you can clear the hardest raid in the game multiple times)

For the most part it's not gonna matter.
Most are rolling pve. Asmon is a big name, he's already said he's going pve because he'll be ganked nonstop, and he'll roll an unknown alt pvp.
For the ones going pvp, if they are popular then yes they will have orbiters. They will have dudes around them, they will have people giving them free shit and gold, etc etc. Pure cancer.
But their orbiters aren't nearly as autistic as even the average vanilla player. Past 40+ or so the streamer's pack are going to thin out hard. Harder if the streamer is leveling fast - keep in mind how dogshit the average vanilla player is at leveling fast even 20 years later and now add in current retail players attempting it.
My point is, there will be ample opportunities to corpse camp the faggots.

I'd be far more worried about nu-blizz interceding on their behalf for "Griefing" than anything else, and the above I typed doesn't mean to imply that you should actively seek out their server. Just not freak out if it happens to be theone you and your friends choose.
