Currently at Launch Base Zone, cant find those fucking giant rings.

There's one right at the beginning of act 1 under the spinny thing iirc, there's also one in a tube right below one of the fire spitting things

Pretty neat how this is introducing Sonic 3 to a lot of new people

Attached: Sonic3C-190315-172612.png (1322x997, 156K)

what is this mod exactly? Sonic 3 Complete + Widescreen?

It's not 3 complete to a tee, but it does have a little bit of the customization from it, and yes it's widescreen.

Hopefully, they update it with some features from sonic 3 complete

how is it more definitive than s3 complete?

just another faggoty romhack

Literally not a ROMhack because it's a rebuild of the game from the ground up in a new engine, designed to perfectly replicate the original game but in widescreen 60fps

(You)

Hopefully they update it with background input.

I spent 3 hours playing Sonic 3 AIR. Gonna list my Pros and Cons so far.

Pros:
>most obvious one, it's widescreen just like the Taxman remasters. it's great to finally play 3K with the bigger screen real estate
>has some of 3 Complete's features like Tails Assist, being able to change the jingles and some music between S3 or S&K versions
>Special Stages are smooth as butter like the ones in Mania
>has sprite rotation like Mania does; some animations are cleaner as well like the junglebars in Flying Battery no longer being 3 frame animations and being closer to Mania's animation for them
>can unlock Knuckles & Tails combo by doing 3 achievements. Tails will even fly Knuckles too which is great
>can unlock the Drop Dash with 7 achievements and unlike Main Memory's hack, both instashield and Drop Dash work at the same time
>the airship at the end of Angel Island Act 2 actually tries to hit you instead of being a glorified cutscene, I loved this addition. You can turn it off in the options too if you just want the original version

Cons:
>Some people have been reporting issues with stuttering or the game not running at a perfect 60fps
>having to unlock the drop dash by doing 7 out of the 12 very specific achievements might upset some people
>not as autistically customizable as S3C, can't change Sonic's sprites, can't set it so it plays S3 music in S3 levels and then switches to S&K music after Launch Base like in S3C
>no unique zone icons like 3C, uses the same palm tree for every act. very minor nitpick but it was one of my favorite small touches
>Knuckles socks are inconsistent between his playable and cutscene models which was something 3C fixed

tl;dr it's a great way to play 3K, it just needs a bit more ironing out to be the definitive 3K

What the fuck, that's what you're getting hyped about? I don't need 60 fps or widescreen to enjoy the game. This is just the same shit we've had for 20+ years.

Do I have to use the Steam version? I saw in another thread someone said it works fine with an emulator, but I don't know how to set it up because I'm retarded and not tech savvy

Attached: 1532358364359.jpg (774x1032, 111K)

It got people excited to play CD, 1 and 2 again when Whitehead did it, so why not

You don't "need" anything from S3C to enjoy the game either. It's just a nice option to have. Honestly playing S3&K in Widescreen feels so fucking luxurious, this should help the huge contingent of zoomers who are just too fucking shitty at video games to handle playing 2D Sonic games in 4:3 aspect ratio. It literally doesn't bother me at all playing it in 4:3 since I've been playing these games since I was a child, but zoomers are fucking stupid man and this will go a long way to assuaging their complaints about it being "impossible" to see what's coming up in front of you.

The site claims you need the Steam version but any .bin file for S3&K will do

I can attest to this as well, been playing Sonic 3 & Knuckles the old fashioned way for years. Widescreen is just a nice bonus.

*sues your fangame*

No thanks fag played this shit 20 years ago when it was relevant. You Sonic fans need to move the fuck on because the world left you behind a long time ago. Yuji Naka doesn't even work at Sega anymore.

What did they mean by this?

Attached: Capture.jpg (863x60, 14K)

Maybe if you'd let Taxman make a fucking port of Sonic 3K, then people wouldn't resort to making their own widescreen version

Dumbass

But does it have the multi-button super transformation or the ability to turn off the super jingle? Those are the most important features of S3C in my eyes.

Here's your (You)

>need 2 emeralds still
>at fucking lava reef
pathetic

Attached: 2manarmy.jpg (288x288, 26K)

It's been a long time since I've needed to play Blue Spheres.

Michael Jackson and Brad Buxer keep blocking our path, man.
Yes.

>can't set it so it plays S3 music in S3 levels and then switches to S&K music after Launch Base like in S3C
>no unique zone icons like 3C
DROPPED

Attached: 1552763584950.jpg (500x375, 36K)

>Michael Jackson and Brad Buxer keep blocking our path, man.
Is this even confirmed or just speculation? Even if it's the real deal, it's surprising that SEGA would be too autistic to just replace the offending songs.

i didn't see this option when i played it. do you have to fucking unlock options or something?

Complete still has it beat. For now.
Hopefully someone will implement all the features in there so we can have the real deal.

>Even if it's the real deal, it's surprising that Sega would be too autistic to just replace the offending songs
That would be the easy way out, but then you have another problem. The music purists who would scream and cry about it not being the original music. People already give the Sonic and Knuckles collection enough shit for that.

>Yes.
Ace, definitely gonna give this a go then.

As an autistic music purist I would be 100% okay with them releasing a version with changed music because autistic nerds would find a way to patch the original music back in on day one, and then everybody wins

It works a little differently but it's basically the same. You just jump and then press W. At least on a keyboard.

>That would be the easy way out, but then you have another problem. The music purists who would scream and cry about it not being the original music. People already give the Sonic and Knuckles collection enough shit for that.
I'd rather have a fucking nice slick widescreen port done by Taxman and them than SEGA going "oh well the music purists" because that's a completely bogus argument because like hell SEGA would skip out on replacing a few songs to earn a lot of money from a low-budget rebuild of Sonic 3K all because of some whiners that can just mod the original songs back in if they feel threatened.

It's about as much of a "problem" as stepping in shit; you wipe it off and keep going

I'd say either get Tee Lopes to compose some new tracks using the Sonic 3 instruments, or get Woofle's alternate soundtrack which sounds pretty good for the songs they would need to replace. soundcloud.com/leila-wilson-woofle/alternate-hydrocity-act-1?in=leila-wilson-woofle/sets/sonic-3-alternate

How fucking casual do you have to be to care about community content for a 30 year old game?

>playing this over complete
why even bother

It's practically definitive.
The drop dash wasn't in Sonic 3 originally so it doesn't really matter that it's not easy to unlock, and the originals didn't run at a nice framerate at all either, so that shouldn't bother anyone to have some stutter issues in A.I.R.

The rest is very small changes that would be neat if they were added, but in no way dealbreakers.

youtube.com/watch?v=YsVV87eYSZc
Why'd they do this then?

>That shit-tier inaccurate music in the trailer
Dropped.

Is he in?

Attached: eggman.png (320x224, 6K)

Because that's one opening song, as opposed to half of the levels in Sonic 3 & Knuckles having some Michael Jackson influence lingering around.

My S3&K ROM is a .md file and that worked as well.

>So many people constantly bitch about there never being a whitehead remake of Sonic 3
>we finally get the closest thing to it
>who cares, it's not 3complete
Why even beg for it, then? Not even Whitehead's remake was gonna have that much customization and you know it. Or are people just getting sore because it's getting popular? Almost forgot this is Yea Forums.
yeah you can add him back in for anyone.

Attached: 200.gif (200x200, 11K)

I mean I'm comparing it to Sonic 3 Complete, not base game S3&K. It's definitely objectively better than the base game. The question of if it's better than S3C or not depends on how much you value widescreen support versus more in depth customizability.

>Half
>3/10 (12 if count doomsday and sky sanctuary separately) is half

>that fucking frame perfect jump in special stage 4

The main reason I never go for all emeralds in S3K.

Attached: 1502157937265.png (502x400, 93K)

Is there an option for fullscreen instead of windowed?

Esc

Just press Escape on your keyboard.

?

thanks

So, how the fuck does this work? Reverse engineering of the PC version of S3&K?

Typical Sonic Retro magic. Most people from that community tend to create good content.

>Mania's sprite rotation

Into the trash it goes.

You can turn it off in the options menu you know.

It's optional

Attached: Untitled.png (1200x703, 84K)

>The option exists
Into the double trash it goes.

People gave the collection shit because the new music was awful. Replace the problem songs with something actually good and not many people will care.

>having options is bad

Attached: 1469236196094.jpg (409x304, 44K)

Does this change level design or is it just better s3&k?
Angel island revisited makes it sound like one of those shitty level Rom hacks

Some areas have been tweaked, like the dead-end path in Death Egg Act 2

Only the purest form of autism I'd expect from sonic fans.

Attached: 34568U34.png (1172x737, 1.13M)

Yeah I wish the name was better but there's so many Sonic hacks and fangames that all the good names are probably taken by now.

wats this

Attached: 1522435533854.png (577x382, 193K)

sometimes it's a little too much like the original, physics still arbitrarily break on slopes sometimes and cause you to lose all momentum, Taxman has spoiled me with his perfect engine and it's perfect goddamn curves
still this is an A+ remaster, the 60fps and widescreen alone make a great game even better, the extra features are just icing on the cake
