most people are plebs

>Rated M
>on the fucking Wii
>niche action game
really gets the noggin joggin

It came out at the same time Resident Evil 5, the top selling Resident Evil game up to then was released.

It was on the worst platform of the generation for third party support.

The Wii had zero interest in forwarding games from third party studios. If you went third party, and you designed a video game, you had better luck releasing it on the DS than the Wii.

Because nintendo consoles are for children

Critically, I remember reading it was a fun romp that fell a bit flat sometimes, but was ultimately worth playing
So I'd land the blame on nin10yearolds who can't into anything but bing bing wahoo

People bought Wii games, but the publishing and marketing team had zero—I mean very, very little interest in getting third party games to prosper on the platform.

they even had this elaborate marketing campaign in the UK where they laid a bunch of fake severed limbs in the middle of the streets in London with flyers attached or something

then they went and fucking censored the game over her, so no one bothered buying it

Worst console to release it on at the time. The monochrome with red aesthetic was old by that point, too.

The only advertising I saw for it was during UFC fights

When you see the name you think of a game on another console youtube.com/watch?v=ccWrbGEFgI8
Alternatively: Donnie Darko

Simple, it was the beginning of the "if it isn't HD its not worth playing" era. A lot games were passed over because of it.

>The Wii had zero interest in forwarding games from third party studios.
You say that but a lot of wii games had pretty big marketing campaigns. MH Tri was the biggest for the series up until World for instance.

Nintendo always tries too hard to overcompensate when they allow M-rated games in their consoles.

because its target audience was edgy 12 year olds whose parents don't let them play M rated games.

Oh yeah, I remember that.

I ended up buying a whole bunch of Wii games like Sonic and the Secret Rings, No More Heroes and stuff, the games were good, but the popularity died out so fast, it was like being the old grandad talking about porn whenever you tried to bring a game up.

What does that even mean?

FOR THE LAST FUCKING TIME

It was hard to look at in 480p

Needs a HD remaster

It was a neat idea but overall a mediocre action game, ESPECIALLY after Platinum delivered Bayonetta

>Why didnt it sell
>Wii game that isn' t Nintendo mascot.

How?

It means you are retarded.

Because the game was terrible.

S U R V I V A L

ahem
USE THE RIGHT FUCKING WORD
IT'S "ON" NOT IN YOU COLOSSAL FUCKWAD

It did, it even got a sequel called Anarchy reigns.

Disregard that, Bayo was later that same year

Many people who ordered it accidentally got the Gary Jules album instead.

>All that visual kino and soul in one Wii game

I read that in the voice of the two announcers of Madworld.
Thanks.

So you don't know

That game had some solid OST. Survival and Ride! are my favorites

>Joke character is the final boss

Top Tier OST

That is tragic

Was Anarchy Reigns any good though? I heard it had Bayo but I just never picked it up.

It was.....decent. the less said about it the better

>final boss unites the good side against you in the bad route
>losing your own boss fight is the good end

Why? I've seen gameplay and it looks fine but I just prefer the b&w of Madworld.

I bought it back in the day. Pretty unpolished and simple but really funny. Got it for like 5 bucks so no regrets.
Also god tier soundtrack.

I really enjoyed it, motion controls actually worked well in my opinion, levels were diverse, and OST was awesome. Final boss actually surprised me too.

What I remember from Anarchy Reigns is that online was gay as hell because there was infinite air combos and you were totally fucked if you didnt figure out what to do fast.

That said, the Deathball gamemode was fucking awesome, playing as the robo bull and just smashing enemies trying to score a goal

did nintendo expect to sell their exclusives with such dogshit controllers. like who the fuck is going to play tatsunoko vs capcom with a wii remote or nunchuk (not everyone had a gc which was still bad).

It didn't had the best girl:

I really enjoyed this game and getting John DiMaggio and Greg Proops to be the announcers was great, but they seem like they budgeted them for 3 lines a piece because it was the same fucking jokes over and over and over again which got grating. I'll look past any flaws when I can cut shit up with a chainsaw arm though.

I bought it back when the Wii was my only Gen 7 console and I didn't like it.

It didn't help that the PAL version had huge black borders - I will never know why

Yeah, not like they had any standard controllers or fightsticks available that people tended to have, right?

the classic controller existed

Lord help me save my soul.
I'm trying not to lose control.
I'm trying not to lose control.
But I might have to let go

It gets extremely repetitive very quickly, I never even finished it since it was such a chore.

I loved the music though.

The real answer is that 3rd parties had already shattered consumer trust by using the Wii as a dumping grounds for awful games so by the time they decided to actually make real games for the console people were wary of buying games that didn't have nintendo's name stamped on them.
pietriots.com/2010/12/17/the-3rd-party-wall-of-shame/
What's really sad is that at least big-name 3rd parties made SOME effort to release games on the console. Fast-forward to today and they're treating the switch way worse.

The soundtrack was dope.

I did my part and bought a copy.
I also got a t-shirt. Good times.

I didn't buy it because the gameplay looked shallow. Was I wrong?

Is any beat em up not shallow?

Some are more shallow than others.

I played it

Were these songs original? It's surprisingly high quality for VGM.
youtube.com/watch?v=sfgUfqeSxg8

The gameplay is shallow, but it's a game you play and remember for its style.

Songs are all original.

If I remember correctly most all the music was done in Japan and then shipped off to american rappers to add the vocals.

looks really good emulated. youtube.com/watch?v=SgQ_Jk49FRQ

I tried replaying it recently and I just couldn’t get into it, it was too repetitive.

which need for speed game is this

Bad marketing.

Nintendo consoles are not consoles, they are nintendo machines. People who buy them arent interested in 3rd party games

No More Heroes was Rated M too but sold more to Wii than in other consoles.

No clue. Probably because Sega didn't bothered to advertise it so much.

Because the gaming media was desperately damage controlling the Wii before it even came out.

I was hearing a lot of people shit on games like Metroid Prime 3 and Super Paper Mario without knowing the first thing about the games.

I remember that too, games like No More Heroes were central in the debate. It was just this counter culture game which was all style and no substance, suffice to say no one had played it at all.

Damn
In a way I feel like Nintendo should shit curatoring the Eshop a bit
At least so the shovelware is much more minimal
There’s some real dogshit that needs to go like Bouncing bob
An absolute dogturd sold for .36 cents and you’ll still feel ripped off
