Works fine on my rig

Maybe Epic hired Chinese hackers

Just play your games in offline mode

thing is it doesn't allow offline access which usually was never a problem even when for example I was completely without internet for almost 3 months. Why it doesn't work?

The servers are down; therefore offline session won't work either.

>buy digital
>money stolen

works for me

fucking chink ddosers

This is, with no doubt, something planned by Mr. Winnie the Pooh himself.

welp, time to start working on my gog backlog

Just play offline lmao

This feels like a DDoS. The likes of which I haven't seen or felt in any online game in a decade or more. I wonder who's responsible though. Steam is far too decentralized and widespread to be hit like this.

your Fault for buying games with DRM

>steamniggers

Servers are back online lads. just got connectivity again.

Obviously by Tencent with the help of the Chinese government.
Either that, or Russians cheating on games created a black hole.

OH NO NO NO NO NO BROS I CANT PLAY MY GAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA

wtf are those fucking spikes

>can get into the client
>only sp game that I've been playing is Invisible War
>can't really play it because it honestly makes me feel physically sick for some reason

Kingdom Come Deliverance is boring and annoying. I'm playing hardcore mode, and i just want to sell my shit, the game is gay and unlikeable.

I'm gonna hop 20 meters into morrowind and enjoy a proper game. Fuck you kcd

the user count dropping because of network interruption

Try sending someone some chat messages.

I would call you a delusional paranoid but seeing how the Chinese servers are doing quite fine really makes me suspicious, too.

Not again...gabe please no.

I have the same problem and I don't get it.

Usually when steam act sup I shrug and go offline. Why doesn't it work now

>everything is dead
>still speaking to friends on voip

Steam is a strange entity.

What's the matter, can't handle some friendly competition?

It's the second time today that it happens.
Is it because of the geo-blocking issue with the EU parliament?

Good joke

probably

Can we just nuke EU?

>shills saying steam offline mode doesn't work when the servers are down
It's official, chink shills are invading the board

free me from this hellhole first.

My "Connection Error" window gave me a "Start in Offline Mode" option and it worked.

You just need to have offline mode configured.

Attached: offline.png (658x478, 44K)

the funny thing is that by default the launcher doesnt work fine at all

psn has gone down for me like 10 times this year already. this is the first time i haven't been able to log into steam. but yeah this is trash and it shouldn't be happening in the first place.

>You just need to have offline mode configured
can go offline, but DMC5 still says "needs to launch for the first time" although I've already finished the game and I was halfway trough SOS

Seething burger goblinoid.

steam works for me but dota2 isnt connecting to shit

fix this shit gabe or else

or what faggot?

im gonna rape your familly rat

I don't have DMC5, but I have played some games which insist on doing "first time setup" every time I launch them. So that sucks, I guess.

>buy retail
>games don't even work because of outdated DRM

You better fix it or I'll...

It says no connection but i can access the store just fine, aswell as the discussions and pretty much anything else.
i don't play multiplayer games though.

good joke ameritard

i bought a game in middle of this, am i fucked?

Same, can't access the friends list either

Have you checked your wifi? Because I've had nothing but smooth sailing for a year now, at least I think that's when there was a brief downtime.

Not saying it would surprise me that Tencent would do this now they're getting desperate, but I think it's a little beyond even their capability to simultaneously DDOS Steam and Cloudflare's 30,000+ servers.

Attached: works.png (497x480, 236K)

Imagine using Steam 2019 and not even been able to play the games you rent.

probably Denuvo's bullshit.

someone explain this?

No, but most most probably you'll end up having to make a ticket for support because your money got stolen.

>games which insist on doing "first time setup
that's denuvo games
if you check your outbound connections it it'll try to connect to amazon webservice or some server in austria, they just hide it as steam message so people dont sperg on donuvo and blame it on a generic steam error.
exactly

So this is what devs are paying 30% of their sales to Valve for.

Attached: 3456a77d.png (633x758, 16K)

This clearly has something to do with the recent EU regulations. Valve is going to leave the EU market.

>no argument against the 9 other countries so has to pick out one that has some problems but is still vastly better than most other countries
nice

What proof do you have?

Nice

the credentials are saved though
yesterday I logged in fine automatically

Steam does have occasional outages, but it works here, and all my online friends aren't seeing anything either, so this is more than likely just some of EPIC Shilling Inc.'s latest ploy.

>try to log into epic store instead

no, it's well and truly fucked. I reinstalled, restarted, everything. Still can't connect#
GABE YOU FAT KIKE FUCK

That's why shop only from GOG.

can you play anything tho?

Linux exists :)

what game?

>I reinstalled, restarted, everything.
Seems legit.

>the credentials are saved though
>yesterday I logged in fine automatically
This isn't about logging in automatically, though. The "remember my password" checkbox on the login window is not the same thing as the checkbox that enables or disables offline mode. Did you actually check that settings page?

no you're the shill

Why do you think they have been focusing and growing in the Asian market
>nothing to do with their store
The fucking EU wants all the American tech companies (microsoft, google, valve, apple etc) to start paying taxes (fines) to have access to the EU market. They don't give a shit about customer rights.

Attached: 1549220487116.png (250x250, 90K)

Chances are it has defaulted your settings some time ago, ever since the friendlist "improvements" I've experienced weird shit like not being able to "join friends" and "invite to game", the buttons simply aren't there.

not even the "problems" sweden has are real problems when compared to the shit 95% of the world has to live in

Steam was working fine for me with the exception of the friends tab so I exited to restart and now I'm getting the connection error that others have shown previously. Also keep in mind that there's currently a Dota 2 Tournament Qualifier going on and we've been sitting on a "next match in 00:00" for well over 30 minutes now because the players can't connect.

Attached: 1552228438495.jpg (763x720, 153K)

Devs give Valve a 30% cut of their sales for them make their games unplayable. Imagine defending the 30%.

sources say epic is behind this to "crash this market with no survivors"

Fuck off.

Attached: 1500043035437.png (604x618, 18K)

Yes the horrible EU wanting those multi billion companies to pay their taxes! How dare they! I hope the EU fucks Steam,Google,Facebook,Twitter and Epic in the ass.

I don't know what you're implying here. Is it that someone wouldn't reinstall over this issue, or that they did not, in fact, try "everything"?

Im in italy and it works.

PM'ed you the fix :)

Jokes on you I am British

It was good to know you America but it seems China completely took over. Can't even start a ranked cs:go

I've been playing RoR2, i dont have anything valve-related that uses multiplayer so i don't know if those would work, some website said that cs-go servers were down though.

Attached: yup.png (1283x500, 290K)

How come the countries where the living standard is the "best" and people are the "happiest" are the same countries with the most people on depression?

Of course the web version works, retard. We're talking about the client here.

>taxes (fines)
8/10 bait right here

im second guessing all those games i own on steam lately.

Correct.

Attached: Begone Thot.png (1243x832, 1.63M)

China nr.1!

How do you like paying 60 bucks for games you can't even play offline you fucking cocksuckers?

Attached: 1554237697869.jpg (1200x675, 210K)

same reason poor people have less depression, when you are living comfortable you have more time to think about reality and realize its meaningless and you're going to die.

For that to happen, they need first to fuck up those fuckers in Netherlands first.

>Steam,Google,Facebook,Twitter and Epic have 0 infrastructure in EU countries
>government should be able to tax them
You know they will just ban them instead, right?

..Just like the US imposes taxes onto everything that goes abroad?

>paying 60 bucks for games
who does that? you must be the cocksucker you are talking about here

that game was a fucking mess and i bet it still is to. dont regret my return.

>Did you actually check that settings page?
if this piece of shit goes online I'll tell you, rn cant even go to settings

>twitter.com/TheStarbDude/status/1114293851290730498
maybe you specifically.

Steam has worked perfectly for me and all my friends on steam without any issues like this.

that's exactly why we pirate instead

because people have such an easy life they make up fake problems for themselves like which gender should they be or other fake victim complex against themselves and get depressed. people who are just about making a living for themselves and are content have way less effects of depression than people who live in 1st world countries with all the money and benefits they'd ever need.

lmao, i know you don't actually believe this

Big if true. Let's assume this is Epic/Tencent's doing, this would be the type of thing that takes weeks if not months of planning, and once they play this card and Valve harden their security and anti-DDOS even more, that's it, they've played their trump card and failed, and doing it again will take months more. Desperation setting in?

>haha dumb Yurocucks your Steam servers are down

Crysis

doesn't EGS have the same issue? Also pretty sure you can play steam games offline

We get it, Wang. You can't stop shitposting.

I live in Texas and its not working for me.

RoR2 uses Steam servers what the fuck are you talking about? I just tried playing it with a friend and he couldn't connect

>cortana

Imagine being a buycuck

I wanted to restart because it couldn't download the BL2 updated textures for some reason and it was stuck on logging in. Going to task manager and restarting again finally got it to work.

For the idiots who were too dumb to set it up beforehand, here's how offline mode is supposed to work, as demonstrated by two screenshots I just took.

I wish I had seen this fucking thread an hour ago. Was playing this afternoon, my whole street had a brief, like split second power outage, obviously it rebooted everything in my house, but when I tried to get back into my game, I got the same cannot connect shit with no offline mode. Now as this problem had only appeared after the power outage, I had been playing just fine until it happened, and nothing on Steam status page indicating a problem at their end, I assumed something at mine had been fucked by the reboot. Spent the last hour fucking with router, firewall, uninstalled and reinstalled Steam, still nothing. Gave up and come here to kill time, see this thread. Fuuuuck.

Yes thanks captain hindsight, it's too late now.

Steam only goes down for 30 minutes once a week on Tuesdays for maintenance.

>goes down once on Saturday for an unusually long period of time
>probably actively fixing a problem or giving out a heavy update
>everyone mad at valve for this??

i just got home for the first time in 4 months from university and i thought it was because my windows or some other shit was out of date and not letting me log in (like android apps if some aren't updated to the latest version) but i'm not a brainlet and googled steam status and i knew it was down through that.

Now that steam is on, I finally see that I have this option unchecked, yet I still had offline mode"disabled". And yes, I have used offline mode in the past.

Netherlands checking in.

Attached: works-on-my-machine.jpg (1395x986, 304K)

I wanna watch all this help a zoomer out

it works again
why do people freak out all of the sudden?

Now that I can log back in - I did actually have it set up for offline-mode, but it wasn't available.
Now what?

Because they can't live without steam for more than hour at a time

It's possible that you need to switch to offline mode manually, at least once, to complete the the offline mode setup. See .

Do it now and maybe next time you won't be fucked.

back up in the UK

Because we're actually living in the timeline of the first Gaming World War.

I can usually start steam in offline mode when I'm not connected to the internet and I even checked the settings and saw the option that disables offline mode isn't on. Still wasn't able to start offline this time around. The only difference on my end would be that I was connected to the internet this time around but that doesn't make much sense

Attached: 1554552467511.jpg (800x600, 49K)

>go to restaurant
>didnt bring food from home
>food doesnt come
>what the fuck bros, it's literally impossible to have food"

See and

The funny thing about your analogy is that a restaurant charges you for food after the meal, and they owe you nothing if you haven't paid them yet. If you've ever been anywhere near civilization, you know that sometimes restaurants fill up and you just can't get a table, but nobody sues restaurants when that happens.

I read from the internet that it works. Just need to rename file or folder. But I don't know. haven't played crysis since I had radeon 9800 pro

just reconnected now and this was my setting
still couldnt launch offline though

>Epic hired Chinese hackers
Those are just regular employees user.

Canada here. Works for me except when my internet decides to be fucky and everything is dead, other than IRC and Discord for some obscure reason.

EU cucks need a steam license to play.

>steam license
>government gets 100% of the revenue

People rightfully fear that their games will be taken away if the company decides to die randomly. It's the big downside to ANY DRM whatsoever. that's why I always advocate buying games on steam that do not have the API forced into it. Like Risk of Rain, Environmental Station Alpha, Hollow Knight, etc. This way Steam can't randomly decide to take them away, and I don't need offline mode either.

Funny that GOG never has this problem~

Attached: 661295f6db3baaae724f0cfa2778024f.jpg (1244x831, 140K)

ok, I just disabled my wifi WITHOUT seeting up offline mode and it's letting me now
wtf is this bullshit?

Attached: 1528546120965.png (506x454, 176K)

it's actually up now, wtf are you doing

To follow up on this, if I understand correctly starting offline mode will basically generate a set of keys that are valid for two weeks. Maybe once you've set it up once Steam will remember that you use offline mode and will keep refreshing those keys as needed every two weeks, but if you want to be absolutely sure then maybe start in offline mode once every two weeks.

Did. Each one I tried launches Steam login.

Bear in mind my circumstances. If you had been playing for less than 15 minutes, got interrupted by power drop out of literally less than a second, and then two minutes after that later found that you can't log in to steam, your first thought would have been 'wow, must be an incredibly coincidental Steam outage which isn't apparent from steamstat.us/ , dowen detector or anywhere else because it just this second happened so hasn't been reported yet'?

this is the first time in my 12 years on steam i have experienced actually being locked out of my account entirely

When they shut down servers they sent packets to every client to reset offline mode settings, making it impossible to play without login in first. Its a precaution if there was an exploit regarding piracy but also questionable towards customers.

actually uninstalled steam coz of this shit then i checked online and realized its just steam servers being shit. thanks gabe now i have to install 300gb worth of shit again and lost all my saves and cfgs. faggot company

makes sense, it's bullshit though, makes offline mode completely pointless

Better get used to it buyfag, it'll happen every week now.

Attached: 63d591217e1010ef86fb7136c05dda69.png (420x420, 187K)

What kind of function is that, without the irregular components ?

If you got no "offline mode" button during the downtime, but you're getting one now without having changed any settings, then I don't know what to tell you, except Works On My Machine™.

You're just making shit up.
He's lying though.

So what if you try to connect to steam but it just stays indefinitely in "Connecting to steam account" but never delivers an error message? Because that's what I was getting

Yeah, and what happens if this is a regular occurrence? You can't trust any DRM to have your back, unless they have a knife to it.

Only if they reset it, if servers would just die offline mode would be untouched. Maybe intern fucked up.

if you uninstall steam your games are still installed unless you uninstalled them all individually.
>what is cloud save

>Epic (possibly) DDOSing Steam
>only reminds everyone that Epic doesn't have an offline mode
like pottery

Attached: 1546307986365.png (217x190, 55K)

I guess that's Steam's network just being slower than fuck, and you'd probably be better off forcing Steam into offline mode either by disconnecting from the internet while you log in or by doing some other "force Steam into offline mode" trick which I can't remember.

So this is the true power of Yea Forums's userbase... wow.

I did consider pulling my ethernet cable off but then I realized I wasn't playing anything anyway so who the fuck cares, right?

>try to log in
>wont launch
>doesnt even have option to go offline
>servers back up
>log in
>close steam processes in task manager
>disable wifi
>launch
>now gives option to go offline

explain this though, I didnt even touch any setting or did anything special but only now it's letting me go in offline mode

No, just the power of bullshit. Because

>wow yeah steam you had a temporary service problem and I sperged out and destroyed all my files, how dare you

Epic removed them when you last launcher their spyware app.

zoomers and underage who can't fathom what offline mode is or how to crack a steam game and try to use it an an excuse to justify pirating instead of making backups of what you own

>instead of making backups of what you own
so, by pirating them? steam doesnt let you install shit unless the client in up and running

>DUDE JUST CRACK YOUR GAMES LMAO

>Never had a problem switching to offline mode before when Steam was starting shit
>Now the option is unavailable to me

Please help, this is out of my comfort zone.

So offline mode worked for me, but there is one thing I don't understand.

I'm seeing two different types of error messages in screenshots.
>Steam is having trouble connecting to the Steam servers.
versus

>Could not connect to the Steam network.

It seems the latter type of error is the one which provides an offline mode option (as seen in ) if offline mode is configured, and otherwise has a blank space where the offline mode option would be.

I don't know what causes the other type of error, or why it apparently doesn't offer an offline mode option. Any ideas?

Not defending steam here, but you should always have backups of your games. If steam won't give you DRM-free copies, then it's your right to download them from various torrents. You paid good money for them, why should they only be "rented" to you?

Maybe now you guys could try Epic store while steam is down?

>Any ideas?
steam is a piece of shit, sounds good as an explanation?

You haven't actually explained anything, so no.

Why the fuck would you even use Steam in the first place then?

OY VEY COME PLAY TO THE EPIC STORE, MY FRIEND CHUNG LAO IS TAKING CARE OF STEAM AS WE SPEAK.

The Pirate Bay doesn't have cloud saves and a friends list.

How come Epic store live rent free in VaIvecucks heads?

do i dont end up with 45 gigs of dolphin porn and bitcoin miner viruses instead of a game?

Did you check the actual directories under steamapps/common because it never did this with me. If you reinstall those games in the same spot and there are still files there it will check their hashes first before downloading.

If you are that retarded and can't even find a torrent I guess Steam is about your alley.

>Steam is having trouble connecting to the Steam servers.
>I posted a picture of OPs image with my Steam working as intended
Are you blind?

It still has the games downloaded, the location got reset to default for some reason in steam.

Just go to download settings and change library location back to the other drive and it will pop up again

I don't know what you're trying to say. I'm asking why there are two different types of connection errors.

get checked for paranoid schizophrenia weirdo

>>I posted a picture of OPs image with my Steam working as intended
I literally have no idea what this sentence is supposed to mean. Your post came just as Epic shills started posting in the thread so I'll just assume your post is so incomprehensible because Chinese is your first language.

Learn to pirate (properly) because it's unironically a useful skill and useful knowledge to have. And whether it's games or movies, music, documentaries or software, think of piracy like a Library of Alexandria on steroids that absolutely dwarfs even the largest storefronts, services or even places like Amazon. There is now so much stuff only available through piracy it's not even funny.

Are you that illiterate?
Boo hoo on you.

>I don't know what you're trying to say
Clearly you don't know what this image shows So I'll explain to you in kindergarten tier levels.
Picture on the left = OP
Frame on the right = Steam fully connected (Online, as seen by the BLUE text)

So you're just buttmad that your screenshot of a screenshot was included in my list of screenshots? Fuck off then. Nobody cares and it has NOTHING to do with my first post.

oof, my servers

thanks bois

Valve are legit shitting their pants in fear.
Epic store has the power to destroy steam and their drones know that. they schreech doom and gloom because they know it's only a matter of time before EA, Activision, Ubisoft, take 2, and Bethesda would band together and release new games exclusively on Epic store

if it doesn't work how am I playing Risk of Rain 2™ right now?

Imagine literally being a shill.

The original post is 2 hours old.

>it has nothing to do with my first post, so I put it in the list of things that have significant importance to my first post.

Ok then.

Works on my 3rd world slav shithole machine

Your post was included in a list of screenshots showing a particular type of error, because your screenshot did contain that error. I don't care what else the screenshot contained because my post wasn't about that. Stop being autistic.

Learn how to look at images, and stop being autistic.

yeah its been up for an hour now

I did look at your image, retard. It contained a screenshot of the "Steam is having trouble connecting to the Steam servers" error, which is why I referenced it.

I can't imagine actually being upset about this.

It's called being real. Valve is still dazed from that left hook Epic dashed. I can't wait for the finishing blow any time now

Why did you post the same image twice if you didn't look at the image?

and

I haven't been able to play Team Fortress 2 all weekend.

The game just started lagging incessantly for no reason, I'd restarted Steam, rebooted my motherboard, reset the CMOS, reseated the video card, re-seated the ram, and reinstalled the game now twice.

Nothing changed the lag spikes.

i already pirate. i just don't make up shitty moral excuses for it

Did you try resetting/restarting your router/modem instead since you are having internet issues?

no trouble here boss
i just play single player games nowdays, anyway.

I was just playing with my friends for two hours, didn't even notice that Steam was down for some people.
Most of my friend list was online too.

works on my machine.

If you actually read, steam already went back up my god

Guess that ddos didn't work out so well.

*looks at thread*

Yikes.

>steam goes down for an hour or two
>Yea Forums: "DDOS!!!!!"

What would it take to take down Valve?

>steam goes down on multiple servers
>acting like it's not a chink attack
we all know the game you're playing Tim, it failed, go back to twitter ok pal

just go into offline mode

oh wait.. you can't because Stam is shit and fucking DRM garbage

Offline mode isn't actually offline. It pings the servers every few hours whereas online is a constant stream of data exchange.

loic

>Epig Chinks Store is already installed on shitload of PCs
>Detroit: Become Human is free thanks to """""bug""""" which leads to even more installs
Yeah, considering how EGS has already sneaked its way through the Steam's files and through the rest of shit on PCs, the botnet is in action. Tencent/Epig Gays just pulls the switch and activates the DDOS.
Those millions of users who have EGS installed might not even know they are a part of this mess.

We need to get those people arrested asap.

>this is your brain on Steam

I BET THOSE YELLOW INSECTS ARE BEHIND IT ALL

take your meds

A ching ping ling,
Wu yao bai fon.

Now is it latency lag (normal internet lag) or is it machine-lag where the framerate tanks or the game semi-freezes?

The former is when it can connect but the servers report a busy status. The latter is when it can't connect to the servers at all. The trick to getting Steam into offline mode is quite literally taking your computer offline by disconnecting from the internet while opening Steam. Works every time as long as you have credentials saved.

Physical destruction of their server infrastructure and even then they have enough money that it would eventually be restored

The game has a consistent 90+ framerate.

It only dips when there's a lot going on. And when it does dip, it only hits +65.

The game stops characters mid-jump, they freeze in motion, as if the packets are just being tossed around willy-nilly.

They have servers all over the world. For Steam to go down there'd have to be a global catastrophe that just might wipe out most of humanity.

Who cares about Steam. My games are safe on GOG

Nice meme chinkoids.
Now tell Tim Swine to shit out some more apeman nonsence in his twitter.

A few hundreds chinkoids with internet access.

stupid white pig company can't compete with superior chinese government cyber criminals

Nobody cares.

Go drink some gutter oil, Chang.

GOG would be good if they didn't alter the games just because they feel like it. They locked saints row 2 at 30fps. There's a very simple hack to unlock it that a paying customer had to create. Not cool.
