These absolute FUCKERS.
Was the story THAT good?
I mean it's one of the most well written stories. Why have we had nothing of the same level since?
What game is this
Nah, man. Who gives a shit about STORY in a world like this.
It's Ninja Scroll: Gothic Edition.
It's a gallery of really cool high concept rogues who can sometimes successfully banter at a Shakespearean level. Keyword being sometimes.

Barbie Horse Adventures: Wild Horse Rescue
it wasn't perfect. what carried it was the characters who were all super charismatic.

I AM THE WHEEL
The story was not that great but it had a ton fo amazing voice actors giving it a fucking ton of soul.
>elder god (and and a good portion of the other characters tony voiced) are dead
>vorador is dead
>raziel is in his 80s
help
I bought this game sorta at random when I was on a trip to my aunt and uncles, having brought my Dreamcast with me.
I had a knack for scanning game-quality from mulling over screenshots and descriptions on the back of them. And in that case it ended up being by far and away the most high-yield blind purchase I ever made.
Oh and it disturbed the absolute shit out of me because I was very young and not ready for that level of bleak dystopian horror with absolutely zero levity.
Why does kain's hair extend past his forehead and and stop between his eyebrows
>Vorador is dead too
Aw..
I didn't know that.
Good ol' hunter green Vorador. Semper fi.
>he sounds younger than Simon
blew my mind
one day we will have neural network voice reproduction good enough to reuse them, let 'em die already,i want their souls
TAKE IT BACK
WE'LL NEVER GET A GOOD LEGACY OF KAIN GAME EVER AGAIN
It's what happens to vampires when they survive as long as Vorador or Kain has. They're upper crust mutants now.
For some reason, Dune and Legacy of Kain share the belief that elderhood means crazy-wazy eyebrows.
"THE BETTER TO EXPRESS MY DISAPPOINTMENT, MY DEAR"
Every single Soul Reaver thread I've either started, or been in, has been some of the most polite conversation I've ever witnessed on Yea Forums.
Each of you may have ONE cookie. Alright? I'm proud of you.
i don't think vorador gets enough love. i think he's cool and his voice work is just as good as the other characters. i think his VA only ever voiced vorador and the president in MGS2.
vampires are weird.
He NEVER wants a receding hairline.
I don't mind the eyebrows, i get that it's supposed to be shaped like a crown, but the head hair extending that far down never jelled right with me
Vorador is understated and never got dragged into the STUPIDER parts of later Soul Reaver.
He felt very uninvolved from the Paradox-Aware bullshit.
The same thing happened with the Matrix, where you were you become absolutely starved for more straightforward conflicts and are constantly denied them.
Thank you, friend. And that soul cookie was quite delicious.
yeah, he's just kind of there. i guess i like him because blood omen 1 ended up being my favorite game in the series.
LoKfags are a dying breed like the vampires. hardly any room for the shitposters on crack we see these days.
>had a receding hairline as a human and young vampire
>vain enough to evolve it away to the max
It totally sounds like something he would do, I'm suddenly alright with his hair now. Thanks user
delet this!!
THE CLANS TELL TALES OF HIM...
>having a receding line on his 30ies AND being a wizard
kain had a hard (nobility) life

The story itself isn't anything special, but its presentation and that it was as ridiculously verbose as the older gothic-style literature the story was obviously taking notes from, along with the phenomenal voice acting just made it work so well.
>Trying to do puzzles in the Cathedral
>Those fuckers jump from the ceiling.
>NOPE so hard I drop the game for a month.
>Decide to man up and pick it back.
>Pushing through.
>Reach the top.
>A fucking Xenomorph vampire queer queen is the final boss.
>Another month that I drop it.
Good memories.
>Buy 1 and 2 on Steam
>Controller input is fucked so I need to emulate it anyways
Sick
>Was the story THAT good?
Not really. The dialogue is good. The acting is good. The plot itself collapses into a bunch of hacky time traveling tropes, though, and most of the interesting tonal things in BO1 and SR1 are lost in SR2 and Defiance because Hennig's soap opera didn't have room for it. It didn't have room for exploration or otherwise good gameplay, either. BO1 is great. SR1 is close to being great.
>remember typing that filename out all those years ago
>People still use it
I'm touched. Really.
It's the one thing that's always bothered me about Kain's design. His design in Blood Omen is better. Vorador's design always implied that vampires get more weird looking with time, but Kain is still human enough that his hair doesn't look strange so much as just dumb, like someone forgot what foreheads are.
Dreamcast is the best SR1 experience.
Also, I've never played pic related because I never felt it was mandatory to the game.
Is it good? Does it shit the bed like Defiance?
>Defiance shits the bet
oh dear, you're in for a CAN'T CATCH ME KAIN!
Blood Omen 2 was made out of a Chakan sequel that didn't get made.
It had some interesting stuff in it like you could beat/stab people to death manually while you have picked them up.
You're retarded since you got it wrong.
The story was serviceable and interesting enough to work but what really carried it was the dialogue and voice acting. Which isn't a bad thing, that is some absolutely God Tier voice work.
I never said I was right, you silly butt. And it was years ago when I made that.
Whatever dumb larper.
Good to know. I won't get my hopes very high if I get a copy.
I got Defiance by chance, and seeing how the plot was all over the place and the things that happened in SR2 either tied in directly or didn't have that much of an impact (especially the OH SHIT, THE HYLDEN moment at the end), I skipped it.
what the fuck do you faggots think is a 'good story'? Like I know vidya isn't about story but holy shit if LoK doesn't qualify then I'd just like to hear what you think is a good vidya story in comparison.I bet you fags think House of Leaves is good too.
It's good compared to other games, but once you see through the cracks, you realize how convulted the story is.
It specially bugs out people that prefer to see time as a branching myriad of possible universes instead of a single flow, despite the game stating it for the story's sake, so you'll find one or two anons making a fuzz out of it.
Honestly, for me, the story should have ended on SR1 as it was intended in the beta/unused content: Raziel inbues the Reaver with Ariel's soul, kills Kain with it to restore balance to the pillars and climbs the Cathedral to sound the pipes and get rid of the vampires over Nosgoth.
I don't think it's awful or anything, but it's typical fantasy fluff from SR2 onward. Even BO1 and SR1, games I quite like, have narratives that benefit from their settings and exploration more than the plot. Even the dialogue is clever more than thought-provoking. Thematically, though, the first two games do a great job inhabiting a mood of decay and corruption. I wish SR1 had the ending that was originally intended for it and that the series had stopped there.
I sort of wish we got the Vorador prequel SK considered making.
How powerful are kain and raziel? Like what are there feats?
Go check vsbattlewiki, im sure they did the job for ya

Don't worry Nolan North is alive.
While I'm glad SR1's shoddy development resulted in more sequels, one thing I always liked is that the original draft still had Kain as a sympathetic villain with good intentions.
