When will Yea Forums accept that VR is real? What will it take?

can they release the specs already? Jesus fucking Christ why hold out?
Pre-orders start in 25 days, it's not like they're going to change anything

Friendly reminder that more people are excited about Cardboard VR than PCVR

Leading people on about it and drip-feeding news is basic marketing.

>
The patent is actually specifically for doing eye tracking off a one-way mirror behind or within the optics assembly, with the cameras likely fully concealed within the device. Or there could be more 'conventional' eye tracking hardware simply not included in those particular units which leaked (which seemed to have been being used for testing different display panels).

>
I wouldn't mind it either, but I doubt we will, for trade secrets and competition reasons.

Attached: valveeyetracking.png (851x621, 252K)

Who gives a shit, most of Yea Forums are bitter retards, or huge fucking fanboys. I just want them to release some prices already.

all of valve is currently in hawaii on holiday

Market saturation and normalization. The few people left over who actually shit-talk it instead of gimmick-fad-memeing aren't going to be convinced and will eventually be won over as it inevitably popularizes.

I like how we're having consistent VR threads now. What are y'all playing?

Keep in mind they probably sincerely did not intend the store pages or vertigo dev leaks. I don't think they had particularly planned the March teaser page until they did it, either. They just couldn't pass up the opportunity to shit on Rift S and hopefully deny them (and other competitors) some sales/preorders.

Just h3vr. The updates keep me coming back. I tried blade and sorcery after the last update but it's full of bugs and runs like shit.

Apex construct at a friends house, maybe now I buy a PSVR setup

Random question, what's the simplest way now a day to rip models from a game? I wanted to make some models to use in VR chat but I have no clue how to rip models. I can rig them myself

H3VR was super engaging for me at first, now I only come back to it once in a blue moon to fuck around. I was hoping Anton would commit to something, but he just keeps adding weird new features and gamemodes and guns instead of fleshing out any one thing.

AESTHETIC

Attached: 9iqvv8j9kiq21.jpg (1280x720, 48K)

I'm convinced he actually hates video games and will spend the next three years just dicking around with gun physics more.

it depends on the engine and the specific engine version in use in that copy of the game. it's an arms race situation between people making decompilers and the engine makers trying to keep things secure. if you really care to you can usually get any particular graphic asset you want, even from console games.

Honestly I sort of have hopes this might be the first headset that doesn't automatically make you look like a dipshit when you put it on.

>if you really care to you can usually get any particular graphic asset you want, even from console games.
How? , it's on PC

It's gonna happen naturally over time, the difference to where the market was in 2016 is already enormous and console VR is also doing great: twitter.com/yosp/status/1110354038732681216

Attached: VRGrowth.jpg (2159x1155, 905K)

It doesn't look that different from other headsets but what does it matter anyway

Attached: leaked valve headset bundle hl3.jpg (1498x1014, 514K)

I got into Obduction, played it for about 5 hours so far and it looks great and can't complain about the Sci-Fi themes and Level design, but some of the puzzles later in the game are a bit hard and counter-intuitive in a "WTF, how was I supposed to know THAT?" kind of way.

>IT DEPENDS ON THE ENGINE AND THE SPECIFIC ENGINE VERSION IN USE IN THAT COPY OF THE GAME

google

Beat Saber DLC. I'll be getting Falcon Age next week.

Attached: falcon-headlock.gif (354x177, 2.31M)

>Beat Saber DLC
why

Because it's the only way PSVR can get new songs. Usually I wouldn't but I don't mind giving my money to a good company for a great game.

I want to get DJMax DLC too but won't because it's not nearly as good as Beat Saber, even though it has better value.

i know politics is a touch subject on this one but jesus christ he completely lost me after the 2016 election and his bullshit about never killing actual creatures, the frankfurt creatures are ok to shoot at but it misses most of the point. i'd pay easily double for the game all over again if he made some proper maps and gave us some decent human enemies to shoot at. what's the point of going to all the effort to simulate things like shotguns and rifles realistically if all you get are 2-3 hit exploding hotdogs to shoot at?

When Yang wins VR will take off like no tomorrow. Imagine 1k every month, you could have a top line gaming rig and the best headset in 2, 3 months max. Crazy.

Attached: download_5.jpg (271x300, 11K)

>what's the point of going to all the effort to simulate things like shotguns and rifles realistically if all you get are 2-3 hit exploding hotdogs to shoot at?
General firearms interest rather than a combat sim

It's a game that celebrates shooting guns as an interest and pastime. The US has the most casual civilian gun culture in the world; is it really surprising someone would make a video game just about guns and not killing things with them considering that's how they're actually used most of the time?

Guns are designed for killing things

And in this case you get to kill hot dogs

Theres a lot of numales hyping it up, its literally google cardboard on a 720 phone, even a 1080 phone looks grainy. It'll dissapoint a lot of people.

hot dogs aren't alive

no AAA just indy tech demos get real

It's growing on me, it looks industrial and less cyberpunk than original Vive still like it though. It would've been great if they used those grooves for the sensors like the vive though.

Attached: 1544011197420.jpg (2400x1200, 202K)

Neither is anything else in video games

You mean when will people stop trolling rich people for buying a niche product? Probably never

Any VR theater app recommends?

Attached: 1553396051847.jpg (594x438, 36K)

They complicate the design for no reason (marginally, but still). They weren't just aesthetic, stupid HTC actually thought they were necessary.

Virtual Reality is NOT REAL

It is reality. Virtual.

VIRTUAL ISN'T REAL

I think it had more to do with them rushing to market. It was easier to mold around the 3D printed prototypes than to redesign it.

I kinda liked it though. It at least had a unique look vs more generic flat designs.

Attached: viveslide1.jpg (900x560, 374K)

I think it was Valve that designed it and they were a bit paranoid about the tracking so they added the funnel things to improve it.

Is it fucking June yet

Pavlov. Attachment update is pretty cool, although it makes the auto-sniper OP if you just put a reflex on it

It's June somewhere.

Demo of this. Can't wait for it to come out.

>I like how we're having consistent VR threads now.
I think they've always been consistent. People always talking shop, some posting cool and amusing gameplay, and everything inbetween. VR's slowly moving out the dark age.

Attached: kek.jpg (991x902, 60K)

Not a good way to get ahead in life.

no, they absolutely haven't been. even since GDC and Index announcement it's been like one or two threads a day. and /vrg/ is totally unusable cancer (you have to have extensions and IP filtering to penetrate the flurry of autistic meta shitposting).

I run hdmi and usb through the wall to my living room and my room mates and I love getting super wasted and getting in vr while mirroring on the giant tv. Ridiculous moments like this are the absolute best.

*bonk*

This game looks pretty neat but I can't stand having another game just be a sandbox tech demo

The only reason to get VR is for porn.
That said what are the best porn games available?
I'm currently downloading PlayHome and Honey Select

Attached: Play-Home-Free-Download.jpg (620x349, 54K)

I started going to /veg/ couple days ago and you ain't kidding there's some serious read between the lines tism lore I'm seeing but yet fully get the picture. It's basically /soc/ now, lewd meet ups and shit. Only actual VR talk i think I saw there in the past day was about The Forest.

I just don't get it man. I understand the concept and why it's awesome but I don't see it in practice. Do you need to get a VR fleshlight too? I've heard none of them are good yet and I don't see the appeal of jerking off while wearing a helmet.

boobies lol

Koikatsu is quite fun, you can find it's general in /h/

>Do you need to get a VR fleshlight too?
I hate that I have this bookmarked JUST for anons who ask this in threads lol

I've had a Vive since launch and I don't believe it.

But I've read they sound like a blender and don't feel anything like what you are seeing. Has that changed?

Okay I understand what you're showing me now and it is indeed kind of interesting. I was used to a different concept where people use a loud ass shitty fleshlight to massage their cock to video

People just attach a controller/tracker to one. There's no machine.

Not since Windlands have I felt this kind of vertigo, or this sense of scale. This game is gigantic, and the atmosphere is reminiscent of the early 3D games of the late 90s, where they leaned into the technical limitations to create weird alien worlds. I feel bad for pirating it now but i've been financially irresponsible and the game has zero copy protection

I believe its real but the price and space requirements arent worth the experiences you get.

I hope Valve was serious about taking a loss on the Index to make sure people are able to get their hands on good hardware.

Attached: polevault.webm (960x540, 2.26M)

when VR fags admit phone VR is the real deal

Oculus studios puts out a large amount of the best VR content designed specifically for Rift so yeah it is a pro

Here's if Index uses those 2k JDI screens

Attached: 0qGlE0w.png (4864x2160, 57K)

Its fine for watching VR porn which is the main use case, but it also gets hot as balls. At least that was the case on my S7

You mean buys content

Also
>ReVive

If by buy you mean publish sure.
And lmao if you think ReVive works as well as native

Sure does, works even better if you have Knuckles

Attached: valve knuckles.webm (1280x720, 2.71M)

>but the price and space requirements arent worth the experiences you get.

Speak for yourself.

I'm hoping that now that the Knuckles have button parity with the Touch controllers, I'll finally be able to play Rift exclusives without awkwardness. Performance is an issue for a few games I think? I remember getting Edge of Nowhere in a sale and it crashing/skipping a bunch past a certain point.

>the real deal

Also post your knuckles controller mr valve dev larper

thank you
Blade and Sorcery is great. I hope it overtakes Beat Saber someday as the top VR game.

He just had to spawn a fucking pony.

>Headset that doesnt make you fucking vomit
>Headphones/Earbuds with enough range
>A large enough area for you to be able to actually use the Vives body tracking
>Controllers that track your hand movements correctly
>All of this and either a roof mounted cable setup or one of the wireless transmitters so you arent tripping over the absurd amount of cables

>some people have problems so everyone does

Ok? Should I link the Oculus forums with people having issues running games natively too?

youtube.com/watch?v=bbK7LQfe764

When they actually get the money to buy it and try it for themselves.

...

Yup. I don't why I think it would matter, but if it were a chick who made the video it'd probably seem less cringe.

Oh it definitely will given enough time. I can't see Beat Saber being top dog forever.

This is the shit that makes me hype
If someone doesn't make a sick wizard duel simulator with fancy hand gestures and physics based spell interactions I might have to learn unity

Late night VR Doggo posting anyone?

Attached: 1553907050485.png (716x717, 598K)

What is this game? Looks fun as fuck.

None of those have been problems for years, except for the roomscale tracking, which is optional. I've had roomscale, but I usually end up standing in one place anyway.

There's known graphical and performance issues unique to ReVive, chill out and refer to the other post linked to you.
I think this is the problem I was having - github.com/LibreVR/Revive/issues/182

To The Top, it is.

I wonder what doggos think of VR, does it even work for them

why does every vr swordfighting game have enemies do stupid pirouettes

It does, though even calm reactions like this give me pause. streamable.com/ljr05

That post was meant for I'll never try Edge of Nowhere because
> Denuvo
And I wouldn't be surprised if that was part of the issue. Every game I've run has been no problem. I haven't touched my Rift for months.

It is real, but it is too damn expensive

I get that you are pumped to work on a VR product, but you should reconsider your posting habits. Loose lips.

why the fuck are there vents covered by a solid visor?

>None of those have been problems for years, except for the roomscale tracking, which is optional.
>I've had roomscale, but I usually end up standing in one place anyway.
Thats the problem, if you cant take full advantage of the movement without paying an extremely high premium then VR is no different than strapping a monitor and controller to your face

I'll accept VR as not-a-gimmick once the VR Prophets figure how to FUCKING WALK FORWARD LMFAO.

>for trade secrets and competition reasons.
Yeah, if word gets out about the snow dog challenges Valve has in their backrooms then they're screwed.

youtube.com/watch?v=HOa5B3COET4
VR version when?

Attached: 1460241744178.png (1440x1070, 956K)

Real GAMES. I have a Vive but the software side of it is a joke. It's the same shitty tech demos and one trick ponies since back when Oculus was releasing dev kits. The difference is now these indie fucks are charging tons of money for that shallow shit.

Patents are public bro and that one has been known about for over a year.

Attached: Valve snickers.jpg (768x768, 85K)

Fair enough. The important games seem to work fine, all things considered. I played Superhot with no problems when that was Rift exclusive in like early 2017.

>le monitor to le face
it's like it's really 2016 again holy cow

First gen Vive owner here. Haven't bought the Pro, headstrap, all in one cord etc. I figure I will probably get the Index, but what are we thinking it will be priced at? New Oculus is also coming out at $399 so are we thinking Valve will try to compete with a $499?/$599? Surely they wont do $800 again.... right?

Attached: 1554336111525.png (832x1359, 792K)

Why are you such a braindamaged shill? VR without the ability to freely move is exactly that.

I don't have a lot of space where I game. Does VR still need a bunch of wires and sensors all over the place?

VR is a screen on your face, literally. Drop your retarded "VR is only VR if it's Matrix" idea and fucking kys

Guaranteed to be more expensive given the hardware.
Probably $600

What you're proposing is eldritch levels of sanity collapse on a massively virtual level that I don't think even the most elite intelligence agencies have a name for other than brainwashing.

Rift S will have 1 cable
Index 1 for headset and 1 for each sensor

>he actually paid $600 to sit in a chair and move a camera with his face instead of a mouse getting the exact same result
Oh you dumb shill, Is it buyers remorse i sense?

Im going to get this I think, but only because the Knuckles will be out.

Attached: 14576247625.jpg (1998x1156, 296K)

too obvious man, do better next time

There's no way they're gonna pull that bullshit again. The only reason most people - myself included - bought Vive at 800$ was because the Rift was 600$ and the Touch controllers were extra on top of that and not coming out for half a year.

I guess 400$ for the headset, 150$ for the controllers, 100$ for the trackers. 600$ for the bundle.

Bait me once, shame on you. Bait me twice, shame on me.

>Index has 30+ sensors

Holy shit that's a lot of cables

Attached: D23fINiX0AI4E-4.jpg (1594x1140, 185K)

When it plugs into my spinal cord

Cheaper than Vive Pro but More Expensive than Vive for sure.
The only thing I really care enough about is buying the Index Controllers (previously known as Knuckles) since I think my original Vive is fine except for the controllers.
But seeing as pic related are the prices for ONE original vive controller, I'm expecting myself to pay $300 for them

Attached: 155452979121.png (644x523, 31K)

Attached: SairentoGravDefyingCombat.webm (852x480, 2.87M)

the sensors on the hmd =/= the sensors he's talking about. its 3 cables.

I know. I'm joking. People need to stop calling Basestations "sensors". They aren't. And that should be obvious considering they only need power.

On one hand that looks incredible, on the other Id fucking puke constantly.

Attached: 1549343012480.png (256x137, 11K)

B-bros...?
I just read that it isn't fucking possible to watch porn on PSVR as of now due to Littlstar jewing.
Fucking hell

Link?

Don't look at HTC's bullshit prices. They're heavily inflated. We already know they only pay $60 for the 2.0 Basestations yet they charge $130+ for them. They don't even make those. Valve does.

VR Motion if a myth/meme, though if you've eaten earlier in the day and haven't had a bowel movement then you should be mindful bc depending on what you play you might have to.

Yeah I had to buy Go for porn.

*VR motion sickness

HTC's business practices are completely different from Valve's, their hardware margins are absurdly high in comparison.

You know as well as I do those controllers don't cost anywhere near a hundred dollars to make, *each*.

littlstar.com/premium

My experience with it is definitely not a meme. I never puked, but I had to take pills.

>House of the Dead
>Time Crisis

Sega, Tecmo, Capcom are sitting on money printers of classic lightgun games just begging to be made.

Attached: space channel 5 VR.webm (640x358, 1.75M)

what the shit? since when could you go upside down like that in sairento? did they add that recently? I only recall wall running

Motion sickness, for me at least, seems to depend on whether or not I'm focusing on the things passing by. Wipeout VR makes me sick if I look out the side of my car and try to focus on the buildings passing by for too long, but I play with all comfort settings off and have no issues when I play for long sessions.

If I was rotating around like that, though, I'd probably need some serious vignetting for that to be remotely playable. Rotating side to side, let alone spinning upside down, would definitely give me trouble. On the other hand, I play Jet Island with no issues, and use artificial locomotion whenever I can.

>Lightgun game support added to New Retro Arcade: Neon with basic support for like two games
>Literally never updated since
>Operation Warcade has cool ideas but is kinda shitty on the whole
It hurts.

I think it's been there for a while. I keep seeing it being posted in threads and would love to know if the original user who made it has more. Guy must be a contortionist or something.

>Wipeout VR makes me sick if I look out the side of my car and try to focus on the buildings passing by for too long
I'm sorry, user, but for some twisted I reason I can't help but picture and giggle at the thought of opening the door and your character blows chunks all over pavements at top speed and the car crashes into the guard rail or just flies off track into the distance.

Sometimes I fear VR may have gone too far in few places.

I have been looking into getting a suspension system actually.
Does it always feel like you are being pulled from behind? Does it not fuck up the cable from the twisting?

It sorta does, made me paranoid a couple times but I got used to it, but it's still there. Nothing severe just a light tug when moving around. It's better than nothing. I feed my headphones through the wire as well since it has a long cable, hasn't messed up either cable.

I see, thanks. Will look for something later today.

i've got a suspension system like that, my place space is about 2m * 2m and it's not really that worth it, it gives you the freedom to turn around with ease but walking around becomes a hassle all together, great for stuff like beat saber but the additional effort to set it up takes away the plug n play aspect too. if you wanna keep your cable safe make sure theres enough slack that the connection on the headset is never being tugged (it wasnt designed for that)

>3d kinect 2.0 shill

Attached: Dodgeball.webm (700x442, 2.93M)

I have been holding off on getting one because I have been moving around with my Rift but that shouldn't be an issue anymore. Have an Explorer as well now.
Will defintely get whatever wireless kit comes out for the index if they manage to make something like that (and without fucking up visual quality).

He is hampered by the fact that he said he'd never design human targets, and he'd never turn his work over to another dev that would. Hell, Boneworks might end up supplanting his game as top vr gun range, which would be sad for how long he's developed H3

Isn't he upset that Boneworks devs didn't even mention his game during their presentation video when talking about other shooting VR games?

I thought it was a bit strange StressLevelZero didn't give him a tiny nod, they even brought up Gorn and Climbey when talking about certain mechanics they were improving on.

Comedy gold. Call me when someone hacks up the police 9/11 PS2 port to support head tracking and a lightgun. Maybe then I'll give a shit about one of these crappy emulator projects that can't just give me a large flat virtual screen and overlay a fucking guncon model where my controller is.

Well that's with Rotation on.
By default Windlands doesn't change rotation.

Yeah I meant the modifier.

>the police 9/11 PS2 port
Why wouldn't they just hack the arcade version?

ah ok

vr isnt real because i cant use it sweatie

They are just marketers doing their job.

If I wanted to play my games on a CRT, I'd turn 90 degrees. If I wanted an emulator, I'd just boot one up. If I wanted a filter, I'd add one.

VR emulation has all the fucking hassle of using old hardware, with none of the benefits.

Because nobody has gotten that shit working? I forget what arcade board it's on, but I'm pretty sure it's the rarely used PS2 derivative that still has basically no emulation support. Much easier to just hack the camera support in the existing home release.

>If I wanted to play my games on a CRT, I'd turn 90 degrees.
What if you don't own a CRT?

Look at those DOZENS of players. VR is truly taking off!

Attached: firefox_pRgQlvFo6d.png (769x532, 335K)

Beat Saber sold a million units

does valve have a marketing department? What do those eople do all day? hey havent released anything good in 2 decades.

>>What if you don't own a CRT?
Then you should probably kill yourself, they're literally landfill and you can get one for next to nothing. My 20" PVM cost me the price of shipping because I bought it before retarded retro "enthusiasts" like yourself hopped on the wagon, but you can still pick up a trinitron for nothing.

Yes and league of legends has 100 million active users. According to the company that made league of legends.

>they're literally landfill
that doesn't really make me want to get one

fuck off dota 2 tard

Attached: 1458484064016.png (847x714, 1.19M)

Kind of missing the idea of VR. Sure you can just use an emulator but that can't give you the surroundings of an old bedroom like those simulations and you wouldn't have to dig up old CRTs from a landfill, like some miserable rat.

elaborate

You sound grumpy. Take a nap.

Probably another Matrix fanboy.

not him, but personally all the modded songs in beat saber are absolute trash
half of them are shitty meme songs, and the other half have absolutely no sense of rhythm and just have you constantly flailing around at speed of sound like a retard

>ryzen 2

May and June are going to be awesome months for pc gamers

When I play around with the dead bodies in Blade and Sorcery it gives me weird feelings of guilt +a fat hard boner. Will VR activate more of this disturbing type of behavior and manifest itself as actual violence for you pieces of shit?

more details like feeling impact, and actually having to walk.
it would also be nice if they changed the controller from knuckles to something like a sword for open world games so you feel like you're holding a sword in your hand

Still better to have 100s of custom songs even if most of them are bad rather than being stuck with only 19 songs (29 if you buy the DLC)

Attached: 1462080871701.jpg (604x599, 61K)

>Sure you can just use an emulator but that can't give you the surroundings of an old bedroom like those simulations
It doesn't give you those surroundings though. It gives you a crappy filter stretched over a 3D model that you're looking at through a tiny screen while you're fumbling blind to find your NES controller on your desk after you're bored with PS1 emulation or something.

Emulation is supposed to be quick and easy. I emulate plenty of games, even with the console 2 feet away it's more practical to boot something up on my PC. What's not quick and easy is putting on your VR headset to play Mario, and it's why I think these projects are aimed entirely at moronic posers who want to take cute screenshots and videos of themselves attempting to blow in a virtual cartridge.

The one element I could see VR actually working for, arcade emulation, is something that feels like a passing afterthought most of the time. I'd love a virtual 50" screen 3 feet away so I can play Time Crisis in a way that isn't even possible in the arcade. I'd love for someone to neatly package together and set up all the emulators you need, to have simple, one button gun calibration, auto adjustment between 4:3 and 16:9 games, wrapper support for PC released light gun games, these are all ENTHUSIAST features that could create a fantastic one-stop experience. But instead we get form over function retards like yourself.

>it would also be nice if they changed the controller from knuckles to something like a sword for open world games so you feel like you're holding a sword in your hand
We've got some controllers for gun games.

Attached: playstation-accessories-aim-controller-01-us-07mar17?$MediaCarousel_Original$.jpg (1620x1080, 76K)

>wrapper support for PC released light gun games
how many PC light gun games are there?

>It doesn't give you those surroundings though. It gives you a crappy filter stretched over a 3D model that you're looking at through a tiny screen
...that's in a room made to look a 90s kid's bedroom. Those are the surroundings.

I mean if all you care about is efficiency, keep to regular emulators. You're missing the point of VR anyway.

We just need to simulate the sound of parents fighting in another room.

New Retro Arcade kinda does that, with this guy's pack that I use. Pretty cool youtube.com/watch?v=fdM4q0iPVms&feature=youtu.be

I'm excited for Custom rooms.
Going around a recreation of past E3 booths sounds amazing.

That's very flimsy and only allows one lightgun game per arcade.

There's something about this that fuckin' gets to my morality. I just feel there's something ethically wrong about putting a VR Headset on a dog. Why? Fuck if I know. Anyone else get what I'm saying?

youtu.be/9yD4KQGZUs4

Not many, but more than you'd think. HotD3 is the one that instantly comes to mind, it's a fantastic port. The ports for HotD1 and 2, and VC 1 and 2 have been totally superseded by arcade emulation because the PC releases were shoddy ports of the console versions, but they're still an option. Overkill has the best version on PC, even though you have to go through the fucking Typing of the Dead version to get to it, Blue Estate is alright but a little janky, and there's some fun gimmick stuff like the Quake mod for act-lab support but I can't imagine anyone getting that to work with something like the Vive, I think there are already some attempts to make the game VR anyway.

Imagine setting up all of this shit just to play Mario on a fake screen. I could understand if it was for lightgun stuff, it's not really possible on modern systems, you need a CRT set-up, or a self-coded IR lightgun that you've taken off a SEGA arcade machine. But for fucking Mario? If you're that enamoured with the look, it's not like CRTs cost anything. It's not like filters cost anything.

I'd love to see feminists watching this shit.

I haven't touched my rift in months, not out of lack of desire but lack of content

All the good VR games are squandered on PSVR

Attached: your-resistance-only-makes-my-penis-harder.jpg (640x480, 37K)

i have this game on psvr and it makes me want a vive/oculus. doing turns in psvr is awfulllll because the tracking isnt 360 degrees
also the stupid loading screens look like they arent in the pc version and opening those bubbles for stages takes you straight in, which is also cool as fuck

Setting up what shit? Plugging in a controller to play on the VR kit that I already have?

This is basically exactly what I don't want, a tiny screen through an already tiny display, and even worse, some fucking moron using an on-screen cursor to aim.

Give me a gun with resolvable sights, and a nice big, adjustable virtual screen in a black void.

I wonder if DolphinVR supports wii remote tracking

Attached: 1453025336606.png (500x380, 176K)

wtf it knows it's in VR even, look at him holding the headset on so it doesn't fall off.

It's literally the beginning of Lawnmower Man

Attached: lawn-robocop2.jpg?itok=tH_NeLUc.jpg (620x337, 53K)

>>I wonder if DolphinVR supports wii remote tracking
My experience with regular dolphin is that even emulating the remote with a mouse is fucking awful, the hard-coded delay because the emulator is a series of bodge jobs makes anything reaction based worthless. You can't do a sudden move and shoot, you have to wait for the cursor to settle in its new position for half a second.

It's a shame, I'd like to emulate Umbrella Chronicles, but it's just not possible and it never will be until Dolphin is dead and we have rigs actually capable of emulating the GC and Wii, instead of running trashy hacks that make Mario and Zelda look nice.

oh fuck

I'll get the next Vive whenever it comes out and try some vr shit then.

i can confirm that it has indeed gone way too far

its been there for a while. for a front somersault you put your hands straight up and forward, same with every other direction. takes a bit of getting used to doing it, but i somehow i had no nausea executing it.

Valve is gonna sell at cost or very close to it.

why dont any of these headsets let you adjust the distance between each eye to match your actual eyes?

I can only think of how disorienting AR would be using those cameras in the front
I know it just wont match my natural vision

this looks bad user

nothing wrong with this design

it'll probably feel hollow and rough like the crappy steam controller

when they get to 130 fov, 8k, and can accept video from phone and PC, then VR will finally mature

still no killer VR apps though
maybe valve can change that since they're supposed to be working on 3 VR games

loadsa shittalk from someone who don't have vr lmao.

I imagine in the not so far future, people are going to pay modders to recreate their childhood rooms from pictures

most people are also not interested in spending 2k for soon to be obsolete hardware

when there's an affordable headset with those features I listed AND killer apps, then VR's day will arrive

>3

Attached: 1554444274154.jpg (230x219, 5K)

agree

you do realise you can sell hardware right?

>when it gets to these completely arbitrary specs that i pulled out of my ass

8k for both eyes is considered to have no visible pixels

?

yes

i think one of vr's greatest issues is that there is no real game that supports it.
i mean ye, there are games like beatsabber etc. but what the most people want is some huge ass fantasy world.
the issue is that current vr technology doesnt support that in a way it would make sense for such a world, and games like that had to be specially created for vr to make use of it. so people wont buy it, cause they dont get what they want, and there will be money to create what they want, since creating such a world would cost a ridiculous shitton of money. propably more than a AAA game production.

what do people actually want in VR?
lots of traditional games just wont work in VR well

sword fighting will always suck because there's no resistance to anything you hit

you can't really wander around cause people's bodies get confused when the VR moves while their legs dont

3rd person just feels weird, you may as well just be playing it in stereo

VR only really works well for areas with limited movement, vr tourism, videoconferencing, vehicle/ride based things, virtual displays

beatsaber is soooo dumb

>sword fighting will always suck because there's no resistance to anything you hit
i think this problem can be solved with a suit that allows you to feel impact or a "controller" that rumbles onse it gets hit.
i think something like that could actually be possible with current technology. it doesnt have to make you feel pain, just any kind of impact that signals you that you hit anything or got hit.
for the movement part i think this actually looks like a doable short term solution.
youtube.com/watch?v=k7n5kRRHDpw
i think they are just to busy focusing on the wrong things

real talk, having a small screen behind some lenses is one thing but an IR laser being shot at your eye constantly?
theres no way thats safe and wont fuck your eyes somehow, am i the only one creeped the fuck out by this

Attached: 1549984453430.jpg (200x196, 34K)

What games are you looking forward to, anons?

youtu.be/d5a4nWtbVyY
youtu.be/dXmqHaiQXSQ

your sword will always be out of sync with the in game sword

the best we can ever expect is skyward sword 'gesture' swordplay that kind of mirrors what you're doing with the controller

but that would be really jarring in a VR game in first person just as when your VR hands dont match where your real hands are

IR doesnt do shit dude.
WHO WOULD WIN:
>a solid piece of flesh alongside some eye goop
Or
>some gay little vibrations idk
Yeah im sure youre gonna go fuckin blind

all the cool parts of action games are stripped away in VR
can't dodge attacks, can't do fancy moves, can't really move around much

you can kiss goodbye to fast twitch FPS like quake, ut and COD

VR is just so limiting

you're not the only one
optometrists are probably rejoicing at how many eyestrain patients they will get

aren't you supposed to take breaks from regular VR anyway?

Bullshit

Fortunately while the VR sex game he and his wife are making is starting with horses because they're both fucking furries, later iterations of the game will allow the importing of custom models along the same lines as VRChat.

So weirdly, despite the ponyfaggotry this one is probably one of the most promising porn sandboxes being worked on if you want to be able to fuck your waifu in VR at some point in the future.

can you ever make nier automata work in VR?
no
end of story

VR is a meme

LOL

Do you have some kind of weird downs syndrome-tier eye placement where your eyes are freakishly close together or freakishly far apart or something?

Because for normal people the IPD adjustment features most headsets have are more than sufficient.

They do

It only scares you because you don't understand how these things work.
An IR laser isn't going to cause any damage to your eye, the light isn't even in the visible spectrum and therefore your eye will not even respond to it at all.

people have different head sizes and thus eyes will be narrower/further apart, I'm sure VR would be much more comfortable and natural for the user if the lenses could be adjusted to match exactly where their eyes are

Unironically VRChat

Only the eye tracking camera and optical flow sensor point directly into the eye and they're both receiving devices. The patent makes no mention of the IR illuminator being a laser.

you can't see microwaves, what if I use microwaves on you?

youtube.com/watch?v=XqXes6fj_PI

But you can.

Upcoming Valve Index, HTC Vive, Vive Pro, Rift, Samsung Odyssey, Pimax. All except cheapest WMRs have that.

But upcoming Rift S doesn't... That's why there is an outrage

Microwaves are not IR, microwave is a generic term for any radiation on the micro-scale. Different types of microwave are more harmful than others, for example, ultrasound waves are microwaves yet are completely harmless and used on fetuses and your brain for diagnostic tests on a regular basis with no ill effects.

Other microwaves on the other hand, can be harmful. See this is what I mean user, your understanding of this topic is based on broad, generic definitions and demonstrates a lack of the comprehensive understanding of the topic required to actually make a real determination about it.

In short, it scares you because you don't know how it works but it sounds SCAWY!

user pls. that just means you need to make a lightsaber vs normal weapons game. or a blade that simply deforms / "slips" out of your grip when you physically move too far away from the virtual sword or start sperg-flailing.

>you can't really wander around cause people's bodies get confused when the VR moves while their legs dont
I don't know about you, but I'm completely fine with double thumbstick controls (smooth) in VR games. There was never really any problem with it for me. Just plays like any console game, but I can also move my arms and shit.

I just dont see how any of it can work in VR
the only benefit is stereoscopic view, and people didn't even like that on the 3ds

top down shooter bits and cut scenes would be the same as on tv, jumping would create lots of motion sickness, can't do cool moves, can't even tell where 9S is if he's running around you, wouldn't be able to see 2B's butt

what's the point?

VR is just for walking sims, interactive rooms and vehicle shit

how are you going to move the camera lenses on the front of the valve index or vive pro?
they wont line up with where your eyes will be, it'll be weird

>motion sickness
I have good genes and have never gotten motion sick in VR.

you are saying cause you can't see it, it has no effect on the eye

people can't see the refresh rate on CRT monitors but it still causes eyestrain

maybe you've never been truly immersed

For passthrough? It might be cool, but can actually can be circumvented by using the cameras to create 3D model of you room and then placing 2 cameras at correct IPD.

Because offset of the cameras will make it weird anyway - it feels strange when your eyes are more forward than they should.

but you could never have lightsaber duels
there won't be any resistence even if you're trying to cut through a steel door

Even if you get motion sickness it goes away with repeated exposure. It's something your brain learns.

most devs will not do that because people get confused

>standalone headset, no wires
>6DoF inside-out
>much more accurate and wider angle controller tracking than WMR
>OLED
>Adjustable IPD
>50 launch titles
>400$

Most games use trackpad/thumbstick motion already.

No seriously, I can have smooth turning + locomotion on, spin my camera in circles while jumping around in games and feel nothing out of the ordinary. Bring on more games with the option for me to have normal double thumbstick controls. Works just fine for me.

What? Ultrasound is not electromagnetic radiation, nor is it within any of the commonly accepted microwave frequency ranges.

Not for some people, I know someone with VR since launch and they still get sick

combine my two suggestions. if in a duel you move the lightsaber beyond a certain point it flickers before shutting down. if you force it too quickly through solid matter it turns off.
these are just off the top of my head right now, im sure there are better solutions people who havent been drinking for ten years can come up with.

who's gonna make VR games if nobody's playing them?

I still can't think of many games that would benefit from VR
at $400 I may bite, it could be useful for work, 3d modelling, 3d movies, video conferencing, etc
in other words, not games

It's mostly just one guy always posting about Quest and how it's gonna be the best thing ever. Yet you fags still reply to him every time. Why?

and highly strenuous activity of feeling force feedback of an actual sword battle entices you? i dont see anyone wanting that, even if it were doable.
hell, stop fucking bleating and think for yourself - you just need the proper ingame mechanics to work around the current limitations. some sort of rock paper scissors shit with fast vs slow vs elaborate movements, have fast attacks wreck slow defenses but get fucked by a sidewards guiding deflection and so on. or simpler yet, have each of these styles have energy bars depleting according to how closely to the tenants of the style you perform.

even if it's cheaper, I still dont see many crucial applications for VR

One year from now, Sony will plaster half of the billboards in the free world with ads for ps5 and PSVR. This shit will go popular, for the better and the worst, and pc VR will not follow. Every game will be made for consoles first and then pc second, the opposite of what happens to VR games now.

You can't beat brand recognition and bottomless pockets.

I've been in much worse than 20fps.

When a good quality headset for it costs less than $100 or $150

I'm not paying the same fucking price of a console for a VR headset.

Good fucking luck making any progress with that whatsoever when Tupper, the face of VRC's dev staff and the one who handles 90% of PR, almost exclusively walks around in his $400 custom commissioned Cyber-Cirno avatar.

>almost exclusively walks around in his $400 custom commissioned Cyber-Cirno avatar.

surely people can datamine these from their own clients right? why would anyone even attempt to get an exclusive skin

Attached: 7jsvwm5g6bl11.jpg (750x553, 53K)

It's not as bad as people think. If it can handle Expert+ Beat Saber them it will be fine for any game.

The headset does work from behind but then the tracking gets really bad. It only has two lights in the back. Good for most games though.

Better resolution, better controllers and some extra tracking and it would be perfect. Just gotta wait for PS5. We already got the best games, it's what matters the most.

these are a little misleading because a lot of HMDs (or at least the Vive/Pro and presumably the Index) use the panels set in portrait orientation.

We don't know enough about the headset to make any kind of guess, and we don't know how much Valve is going to be discounting everything, but Knuckles will have MSRP of $100-200 per pair and lighthouses ~$50-100 each.

there's nothing that 2D games can do that 3D can't...

just tell me now, how would you set up this scene in VR?

>hardly
facebook owned
not a cent of mine goes to zuckerface

so? it's funny

didn't stop the wii from sweeping everyone off their feet despite being a piece of shit

of the 3 consoles, who is marketing VR properly? snoy is clever

That's the community rep, there's another dev that usually one of the booth models though, you see that guy in the game's own marketing material. Anime avatars are basically the default state of VRChat because of the amount of tutorials dedicated on converting MMD models for use as avatars, as well as the great overlap between weebs and VR enthusiasts.

how to set it up? it's a cutscene with a QTE, you can literally have it setup in the exact same way, you understand that VR can have cutscenes right? and that they dont have to be from a first person perspective?

If I was punching the air for that part instead that would actually be pretty fucking fun, I'd rather do that instead of a QTE

you can, but there is literally no benefit to being in VR

but its not first person, itll just be weird

first result on google, user.

and you wont be able to punch as fast as buttonmashing

Yes they are designed to fit glasses inside unless youre an insect and have those gigantic ones

>set up this mario level in 3d instead of 2d
>you can, but there is literally no benefit to being in 3D

it's the same thing

I hope he wont, fuck all of you

Honestly it took him years to add a dynamic gamemode that doesnt blueball you all the time and then you realize map is shit yet again

VR needs an actual system seller that properly takes advantage of the hardware, until then its just a gimmick.

>a fucking ps4 peripheral with minimal advertising and barebones support generated 2 Billion dollar in revenue
>Yea Forums: durr durr its ded i tells ya!!! DED!!!
This is why the only notable thing ever to come out of Yea Forums is school shooters and a stolen flag.

Attached: file.png (1350x1707, 1.09M)

they did
it's called the bowser levels in SM64 and the warp levels in sunshine
and then there were side scrolling levels in mario galaxy and 3d land

nothing was lost
no compromises

how can there be a system seller for VR when nobody can even think of a VR killer app?

the fact that beatsaber is so popular is just pathetic

like what? give an example

>standalone headset, no wires
Means no PC power
>6DoF inside-out
Which is inferior to outside tracking
>much more accurate and wider angle controller tracking than WMR
But not nearly as accurate and wide range as any outside tracking system
>OLED
same as oculus/vive
>Adjustable IPD
same as oculus/vive
>50 launch titles
much lower number than any PC headset, minus the porn and weird but cool indie tech demos
>400$
same as oculus
>literally the best value VR tech piece that is coming right now
see above

Its been in since I have had the game, which was at least before the more recent major update. The game actually has a really long list of options, so you need to carefully go through and enable what you want. From there you just lift your hands during a jump, so it is simply a matter of telling your brain not to try and readjust your balance as your vision flips over.

I just make videos of whatever games I'm playing at the moment and I started making videos just as I was finishing Sairento. I tried to top that video for several hours and got progressively worse at the game when I actually tried to make nice chains of kills rather than just letting it happen normally. You can have this one that was ok before I started fumbling around with the sword at the end.

Also, I appreciate that webm user noticed I said I didn't like that the file name implied imminent motion sickness in the last thread.

>there are no worthwhile porn games for VR unless you are freak that is attracted to animeshit

heh

Attached: and_then_it_crashed_v2.webm (1000x563, 1.99M)

and all this for $399. great value if you ask me

But I got much better for the same price, what is their excuse except that the Oculus is discontinued? What is the advantage of a standalone VR system? Have you ever wanted to play VR in any place that isn't your home?

is this all you do in the game?
jump around and do flips in slowmo while shooting?

booooring

Sword and Sorcery or whatever it's called got updated? Neat.

One day they'll get the weapons not feeling like they're all made out of delayed wood unless you put long swings into motion.

The Quest not having a PC-hookup solution is what killed it for me. Facebook then announcing Rift S being nothing but a downgrade in most aspects to their three year old Rift is what killed Oculus altogether for me.

youve got a rather big arsenal of melee and other weapons

ease of use, no need of PC or cables, portability, you can play in your living room, then use it as media device in your bed.
I'm not buying it, but I do see the appeal. Oculus Go sold very well, despite being much more limited product.
And game library on Quest is shaping up to be pretty decent
>reddit.com/r/OculusQuest/comments/b5pt40/list_of_confirmed_games_and_apps_plus/

Needs 1 system seller. I'm talking on the level of Metal Gear, Final Fantasy, Half Life, shit like this. The kind of shit you HAVE to play. You get 1 just ONE system seller and everyone has to buy it.

There actually is a story mode to go along with it, but that can't be represented well in a 10-20 second video with no sound. I will say that the level design could have been better through. You do essentially just move from room to room killing everyone before proceeding to the next. However, the gameplay is really smooth and there is enough variety to make it feel like a full game rather than just waves of enemies in the same few rooms over and over. There is also good variety of weapons, including several throwing weapons and a bow to give different ways to play the game. It is well worth the price, especially if you get it on sale even though it is not quite the cinematic epic that Yea Forums tends to prefer.

Attached: Jump.webm (576x324, 2.33M)

it also has some progression, voice acting and AA feel, unlike most VR games

god I want to play this so much but I know I would destroy the controllers and my bedroom hitting everything around me, I might go full post-physical and remove everything and sleep on a futon

Where were you when tripwire saved VR?

>tfw it'll only be two hours long

thats my plan yeah.

I doubt it. If they get the mechanics right, it will be trivial to just build more levels.

>Facebook then announcing Rift S being nothing but a downgrade in most aspects to their three year old Rift is what killed Oculus altogether for me.

Yep. If it was at least wireless, then it would be competition. Wireless + IPD slider = I would buy it 100%. But right now I'm happy with my Rift, and we'll see what Valve will bring with its headset.

>Been using two trackers on my Oculus for a year
>Reached sub-600 ranking on Beat Saber with just the two
>Highest ranked songs are literally impossible with two now
>Can move hands fast enough that trackers disconnect and sabers just sort of vibrate in place

I have become too powerful

zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

Thanks for a reasonable answer without shitposting. Still not interested, but I guess it's an option for people who haven't already ruined their living room with wires and sensors.

because having actual enemies that can sword fight wouldn't be fun and people would quit

I don't think increasing the number of cameras will improve it in that aspect. The third camera won't add more frames per second to the tracking. It will just make it so you can turn around.

>King Henry beheads another one of his wives

the Touch controller battery springs disconnect if you move the controllers fast enough. I'm sure there are some fixes for that on the internet

>We’ll have a new Boneworks gameplay video on Node this Sunday. You’ll get to see the warehouse level, a location near the beginning of the game, and plenty of combat against a sentient VR headset. 18min!
twitter.com/BrandonJLa/status/1114399194725224448

Well fuck. I know most people use more wrist movement than I do. I break my arms swinging them like a madman. Not sure if I can adapt since I have tiny baby hands.

I thought that's what it was at first but considering how easy it is to replicate for a few seconds it might not be. I'll test out some of the fixes though. I think people say to put a small pad of electric tape in the battery socket to hold it in.

As someone with VR, I don't care for Beat Saber. Blade and Sorcery is what I'd like to see from VR, but it's only from a small team (one guy?) and it shows.

I have good (near) sight meaning anything within 2-3 feet from me I can see clear, but bad far sight

will I be fine without glasses using vr?

I love Beat Saber but I do wish these small teams would just get together and try to make something larger as a group. I understand most are just doing passion projects because it's a new way to approach development and that's exciting, but it's frustrating to see something as great as Blade and Sorcery's combat trapped in a game with so little content besides that.

No, you're fucked. At best you can get one of those overpriced aftermarket lens holders that make it a little easier, but you're still going to have an awful experience like everyone with glasses and without the money to get custom lenses built with their prescription.

>Can move hands fast enough that trackers disconnect and sabers just sort of vibrate in place
There was a tracking bug with the Oculus API on Beat Saber (on Beat Saber's code end, not Facebooks) that was only fixed like, a couple days ago.

why though...

Because fuck all of us with shitty eyes.

:(

You will see things as you would see the real world at two meters. The lenes refocus the light to chance the focal distance so it doesn't look like your are looking at a screen right in front of your face. Vive at least has plenty of room for glasses and will allow you to move the screen farther away to give more room. I don't know about the others.

>left eye dominant

is this a problem with VR?

Oh? Maybe that's what it was then. Haven't played in a few days because of the modsaber shut down

The Index has a dial on the side that is most likely for lens distance for glasses.
Gabe wears glasses so it's safe to say that the Index is designed with nerds in mind.

lmao just grow a new eye

youtube.com/watch?v=x2UAtVYSBTA
That alongside many performance issues pretty much killed the game for me. Even the latest update still has stutters and unexplained FPS drops making ASW engage despite the game looking like something even a decade old video card could handle.

why would it be a problem
just wear your glasses or appropriate contacts

I wear neither contacts or glasses. I thought I'd ask cos I had a bad time with the 3D meme in cinemas.

Attached: GE.png (435x762, 943K)

You get to decide how you hold whatever you are aiming, so just look through the sights with your left eye. It isn't like a regular game where you press a button and the game plays an animation to move the sights up to your face.

>WHY WONT YOU BUY INTO OUR MEME, WE SHILL IT EVERYDAY

Attached: 45532535545543.jpg (1140x641, 67K)

Rift S reportedly has lots of space inside so you can wear it with glasses

VR is great for non game applications

Looks like a cheap plastic toy which is funny since the HP is clearly ripping off the original Rift while the Rift S looks more like a WMR.

Friendly reminder that the regressives absolutely hate VR and hold an absolute gruge towards those who look towards a future of progression but without labelling themselves as 'progressives', purely because labels are pretty shit regardless.

I actually really like the htc vive's look with the little funnels
slightly reminiscent of a bugs eye

Man, I almost just picked up a Vive for 300 bucks on eBay but held off because the seller hadn't used their account in 2 years.

Maybe I dodged a bullet, but maybe I should have gone for it.

who cares, free bumps.

You actually get paid to type like a bot?

I agree that the Rift S looks shit, the Quest is aesthetic as fuck though.

By S I meant Quest, what I said applies to both really.

hell man even the 3$ phone VR things have it

Friendly reminder that these products will be scanning your retinas and without your consent will be sending the data to governments, companies and secret services all around the world

Enjoy "your" future

go to first post, look at the valve index
how are you going to move the camera lenses?
AR stuff will always look weird if it doesn't match your natural vision

A game.

VR is a meme gimmick fad that is already over, plain and simple.

The Index is not an AR set and the cameras are most likely just going to be a resource for computer vision applications and chaperone, Valve never really paid much attention to AR stuff.

The Quest looks nothing like a WMR headset

Attached: oculus-quest-table-controller.jpg (1600x1200, 268K)

It actually does, reminds me of the Odyssey but without the shiny plastic.

Irrelevant since it will be good for nothing but racing sims since WMR tracking is garbage

>I like how we're having consistent VR threads now. What are y'all playing?
Cringe

How to spot a left-leaning parasite;
1. They visibly seethe at everything they don't like, even if it's neutral.
2. They will try to twist and mince words in a feeble attempt to combat what they don't like.
3. They will always reply, angrilly.
4. They will deflect at almost every opportunity and will never, ever add anything of value to a conversation or discussion.
5. They visibly bruise easily as they are thin-skinned and so are often the target of bullying and harassment.

They, themselves, are often the worst types of bullies and deserve every punishment they get. So if you find one giving you trouble, take sollace that one day, whether in the near or distant future, they will die and will no longer contribute any further attrocities to this Earth.

If you said Rift S you had a point, it looks absolutely nothing alike
are you dumb or actually confusing both headsets?

Attached: 6_HMD_XE800ZAA-HC1US_103117.jpg (800x600, 70K)

No I'm not confusing them, the Quest reminds me of the Odyssey.
I don't know why you're offended by that, why are you a mobileshit shill?

oculusfags
you can change your retarded ways
just admit you are a brainlet and that is why you wasted money on oculushit instead of seething in these threads

such as?

Hey, VRfag here, shut the fuck up your vindictive post makes us look bad.

You really don't have a point

Attached: hmmm.png (479x326, 66K)

You can't speak for any group, remember?

Cameras are cheap, no real reason not to have them as a dev resource for niche AR applications, the Vives have cameras too despite barely using them and not relying on them for any of the core functions.

The primary value of augmented reality is that it brings components of the digital world into a person's perception of the real world, and does so not as a simple display of data, but through the integration of immersive sensations that are perceived as natural parts of an environment. The first functional AR systems that provided immersive mixed reality experiences for users were invented in the early 1990s, starting with the Virtual Fixtures system developed at the U.S. Air Force's Armstrong Laboratory in 1992. The first commercial augmented reality experiences were used largely in the entertainment and gaming businesses, but now other industries are also getting interested about AR's possibilities for example in knowledge sharing, educating, managing the information flood and organizing distant meetings. Augmented reality is also transforming the world of education, where content may be accessed by scanning or viewing an image with a mobile device or by bringing immersive, markerless AR experiences to the classroom. Another example is an AR helmet for construction workers which display information about the construction sites.

Looks fairly similar except for the strap, it even has the rounded edges.
Why are oculus shills so defensive? The new oculus sets clearly look cheaper than the Rift which had a nice cloth front.

Attached: dims[1].png (1431x810, 382K)

>seething eastern yuro

I don't trust that headband design to stay on my head with frantic movements.

yes, because retina scans are such a commodity

>HP Reverb
>cloth texture on the front
>rounded edges

>Oculus Quest
>cloth texture on the sides
>round edges
lmao
You really are a brainlet

Are you only able to see colour and nothing else?

I haven't used it but it looks the same as the PSVR strap which people say is pretty comfortable since it rests on your thick skull rather than pressing against your face.

the other guy said the valve index has no AR functionality and said stuff that doesn't make sense

AR uses computer vision to be able to place stuff 'in' the real world

what the fuck does chaperoning have to do with anything?

>The primary value of augmented reality is that it brings components of the digital world into a person's perception of the real world
Why are you telling me this?
I know what AR is

now it's just embarrassing

>Oculus bad
>WMR good

Attached: L6pJclJR.jpg (587x587, 47K)

Yes the HP Reverb looks more like the original Rift while the new oculus sets look more like WMR sets, it's pretty obvious the Reverb was based off it while the Oculus sets have a more practical look to them rather than something you would gush over.
They look cheaper and are literally cheaper, that's their function.

imagine being triggered over someone telling your cheap toys look like cheap toys lmao
this guy in particular must be a literal shill, how the fuck does that look good?

Rift: expensive cloth toy
Index: expensive plastic toy
WMR: cheap plastic toy
S/Quest: cheap plastic toy
that's all there is to it

>no wires
>cameras on the corners instead of bug eyes
>simplistic design
>no ugly halo strap
pretty easy

The straps look cheap but the headset itself is simple and clean.

>that the regressives

Its not that im against new technology, im just against technology that is only being put out by certain people for a certain agenda

And it isn't the entertainment/money making kind of agenda

PSVR doesn't have frantic head-movement games though.

I got to play this for a few hours. IDK what is different about it but it is seriously fun, and I was never nauseous. something about the way you move your arms being tied to your movement maybe. I was blown away, because stick movement tends to fuck with me a lot.

My $50 phone looks simple and clean, that doesn't mean it looks good or not cheap, the matte plastic is probably even the same material my phone uses and the cameras remind me of the ugly Vive funnels.

are oculusfags the applefags of VR?

VR needs to be affordable and easily accessable to grow.
Oculus is going in the right direction whether you like it or not. PCVR doesn't have worthwhile software and it won't get good games until more people have a HMD

Then it comes down to a matter of taste. What's a good looking headset to you? Personally I'd rather have one that is nondescript, I don't need those weird dimples like the Vive, I don't want the headset to have a lot going on. I'd rather they keep the costs low while and if that means a simple aesthetic then I'm all for it.

I'm the same with computer cases, I hate the RGB fad going on right now. It's just so much shit on a piece of the system that's really not important to the overall experience.

>PCVR doesn't have worthwhile software
sure thing, whatever you say oculusfag

Also, Oculus is the only one directly funding games (aside from Sony)

Hating on Oculus is dumb as fuck

Nope, mobileshit and walled gardens are the opposite of the right direction, that's like saying the mass adoption of phone games were important for PC when in reality their gamblebox cancer and such are simply ruining games and had zero positive effects in the industry.
Facebook is clearly not interested in PC and them telling devs to keep parity between the S and Quest tells you how much games will have to be dumbed down, not even phone games demand this and they were cancerous anyway.
A race to the bottom is never a good thing, we really don't need retards ruining everything.

Stop shilling for mobileshit garbage.

Attached: ergvfrgvfc.png (528x495, 578K)

Is full vision VR actually possible or will you always get lens edges ruining immersion?

Isn't there a phone games general for you to post in? The damage Facebook caused to VR is immeasurable and we are still picking the pieces.

They obviously want Oculus to be its own platform, retard. That's not PC despite them temporarly piggybacking on PC hardware.

You must be extremely dumb or extremely shortsighted to not see where Oculus is going, the post you replied to really tells you everything you need to know about why the direction the company is clearly headed towards is not good for VR.

>accept video from phone
Who the fuck wants that bullshit lmao

There is such an angry undertone in this post, did you buy VR stocks or something?

God damn, I didn't hear about this. If true, I'm almost definitely going to be replacing my Rift.

better than HTC who are literally leaving the consumer market
Unless the Index has proper games to launch with at a >500$ pricepoint Oculus is all thats left

all fb wants is vr social clubs and shit
basically playstation home but VR
for that alone I will never support occulus

and john carmack should be ashamed

And even though I know how very far apart we are
It helps to think we might be wishin' on the same bright star
And when the night wind starts to sing a lonesome lullaby
It helps to think we're sleeping underneath the same big sky

not their fault that gamers are poorshits

HTC is crap too and I never see anyone defending it, but their only "crime" is price gouging and the flaws on the wand controllers that break easily, Facebook did far more damage by gobbling up Oculus and poaching several developers and then firing the fucking founders and forcing them to sign no-compete clauses. Soulless Zuck threw money at things and got what he wanted, it's terrible.
