2, 4 and Black Ops 2. MW1 and 2 arent on the same level but they're fun popcorn entertainment none the less. I would avoid the rest except for cod 1, but that's only if you really enjoyed the gameplay of the other ones.

If you want to play MP, CoD games are dead as fuck on PC, but MWR has really good MP bots, possibly the best FPS bots ever for a non-arena shooter

Cod4/MW1 is the best one in terms of story

I've played all 3 you actual zoomer, BO1 and WAW are both better than BO2 though BO2 isn't a bad game.

I'm not, it's just an observation

The "Golden Age" of CoD was MW2 through to Black Ops 2, although MW2 has not aged well at all and is only really praised for nostalgia. Not to say games prior to MW2 weren't good it's just that MW2-BO2 were the most popular (WaW is pretty great and CoD4 still has a load of players on the remaster)

I'd recommend MW3 and BO2 but they're filled with hackers. CoD 4 Remastered is unfortunately your only way of experiencing old school CoD but they put lootboxes in that kind of ruined it. Black Ops 3 has a decentish multiplayer and the best Zombies mode imo, so I'd recommend that if you like zombies.

Campaign - Any CoD before Ghosts (BO2 had a great campaign and the first 3 CoDs had pretty great ones too)
Multiplayer: CoD 4 Remastered, I've heard that BO4 has a decent MP although I haven't personally played it
Zombies: BO3 has the best overall (You have new maps along with most of the WaW/BO1 maps, along with one of the best BO2 maps) although Gobblegum makes it piss easy. BO1 is best if you want the more challenging experience.

2 was the best one. Had a real sense of being there. It was before the series became all about big action set pieces and multiplayer.

By Golden Age I meant most popular/most widely liked, not my personal favourites

WAW and BO1 have shitty weapons and shit story, veteran mode is also completely fucking unfair and unfun in both of them, unlike the games I listed where veteran is actually fun. WAW is at least a bit better because you can play it in coop and the jap levels are pretty cool but it's still shit compared to cod 2. Your're the fucking zoomer here nigger.

CoD 4 still beats you to it, everyone remembers All Ghillied up and the Marine missions, name one memorable mission from MW2.

People also constantly wank off MW2s Multiplayer like it was the best thing ever.

2's campaign introduced regen health and endlessly spawning enemies and grenade spam. As far as gameplay and pacing is concerned, 1 and MW2 are far better.

Also, I don't know about "a real sense of being there", I guess you mean it has the most down to earth missions and set pieces in the franchise but that also makes it extremely forgettable.

this. The multiplayer of United Offensive was way better. I still liked 2 but the framework for the future COD's was laid down by that point
