How many characters did you get into elite smash? Mine are
>Mario, Doctor Mario, and Luigi
>DK
>Link
>Kirby
>Mewtwo
>Ness and Lucas
>Pac and Sonic
>Ganon, Mac and K Rool
How many characters did you get into elite smash? Mine are
ridley and shulk. I played about 30 matches total until I had enough of the shit online and input lagged, dropped the game and won't come back until they're fixed
>Doc
>Olimar
That's about it. I did get Meta Knight and Luigi into Elite at a point but due to the GSP growth I guess they got booted.
>Falco
>Greninja
>Mewtwo
Got Cloud in elite once but fell out again.
Peach, Daisy, Kirby, Wii Gunner, Duck Hunt.
Trying to get Mewtwo and Cloud in, but it keeps going to team battle and my teammate is always complete ass.
Only Olimar which I got early onto the game's lifespan. The rest of my characters are untouched. I stay in Arenas now: Public Arenas are hit or miss, but with a clear title, I can play with more good stages against people that are more willing to rematch, and I can go Random.
inkling and Isabelle. I almost have wii fit in elite but then Ill come across a laggy zelda or link and I just cant beat them
I finally got Ice Climbers in after hours of trying.
I stopped playing my mains online because it makes me adopt bad habits for local play.
None, haven't played in ages and suck too much
I also have no fucking clue what the requirements are to get into Elite Smash
This. I found myself doing things like "oh I can just run at them and they can't stop me" and then I'd get punished.
Just get them to Elite and then move on to the minors.
I feel like I am getting closer to elite smash due to gsp growth.
52 then I stopped because it stressed me out too much. I just used it for FFA matches after which still make my blood boil because everyone at upper GSPs plays like a fucking nigger faggot
How? Were you doing unsafe moves online because of lag?
Only Villager and Isabelle. At this point I only touch quickplay if either of them are removed and it's piss easy to put them back in since shitters can't deal with them.
Even with characters that aren't your mains, bad habits from Online can & will stick given that most connection have enough delay to make certain things reactable. Most prominently, I find it really fucking easy to just react to a Tomahawk/Empty Hop online, it's rarely as efficient online.
You gotta work those habits out, bros. If not online, then you'll get them during local or get bad habits in local.
Just keep practicing.
0, I hate being stuck in 2 mil
>I stopped playing my mains online because it makes me adopt bad habits for local play.
like what? yolo Fsmash seems to work about as well for me in person as it does online. I personally cant tell the difference in lag but that might just be me being retarded
It's ok. It's not worth the time anyways.
No one. Hit the 3.5 mil mark and got swarmed by spamming nesses, B locked young links, and pichus some of the pichus were actually fun to fight though cause they at least tried to get in and fight instead of spamming like a little bitch.
Knocked my scaly purple ass all the way back to the 2 mils.
Not him but the things that happen to me the most online as mistakes is the aforementioned reactability of Empty Hops, as well as the occasional Dash Out of Shield becoming a Roll. Just things that fuck with safety as a whole.
You can climb back up. The games gives you more gsp to catch up the further away you are from the regular amount required
It is better than always being 100k away from elite smash no matter how hard you try.
none, because I only play face to face, because playing it against some random nobody on the internet feels just as dull and pointless as playing solo
I love playing solo
Truly a scholar. Smash mode is the superior option. It's free, it has no lag, you can taunt, and it's just as if not more rewarding.
god I really can't stand quickplay but I also don't like waiting in arenas either
fuck ultimate online so much
The only way to get better is to play people better than you user, I was never very good at smash either but the fags that used to play Slap City here kicked my ass till I got good
just open your own arena and set it too only 2 occupants, I usually get matches pretty quickly and most people are willing to say for hours at a time . Unless they play Ness or Ylink who will dip after the first loss every time
Honestly, I haven’t even gotten the online and even if I did, I would probably suck too much to even get anyone in
This
Arenas really aren't that bad if you set the number to a low number if you wanna 1v1. I set it to 3 usually. Even my FFA experience has been pretty good, managed to get 4 players quite often and half of those eventually went Random along with me, and we all had fun. Don't underestimate the importance of a Title too, so Randoms actually join.
My whole roster is just below 4.2 million. I have been in Elite Smash with Game and Watch, DK, and Mario. When I do play in Elite, I either get some scumbag player like a Shiek with notmal stages on that runs the entire time, or I get bopped by a player who is just plain better than me by a wide margin. I'm cool with just being "good ay smash".
I used to do this with someone that would place pretty high in local tournaments and always got 3 stocked with him always assblasting me. I learned a lot more when I fought against someone at my own skill level. I’m still not as good as my friend, but instead of being 3 stocked every match, it always comes down to the last stock where either one of us can win.
Same poster here, I forgot to mention I switched my main from Dedede to Roy after heavyweights weren’t proving much success for me. Anime swordsmans helped me out immensely
dont sleep on DDD, he is a pretty powerful character to have in the pocket to force people into matchups they might not know very well. He is pretty much a fat marth so swapping to an FE isnt a bad choice
none
kinda got bored of the game really quickly
>Ike
>Zelda
>Little Mac
>Mii Brawler
>Mega Man
was the most I had at once. They've all fallen out since then (though Mii Brawler hung on forever before finally dropping way after the others). Now I've only gotten Mii Brawler back to Elite Smash and I don't really care to go for it anymore. I just want to get better at reading opponents/figuring out and exploiting their bad habits.
Also I tried like hell to get Richter to Elite Smash back when the game first came out but I just suck with him.
>Get several Characters in Elite Smash
>Got bored
>Come back to an empty list
What set of custom moves are you using for Mii Brawler? You might not be using the character to his fullest, which already isn't that high of a cap
How different is 1v1 in comparison to 4? I hate how it drags forever, are the changes meaningful?
It's still neutral heavy with a lot of interactions per stock for nearly all characters, and only a few characters have access to deeper crossup options to bypass someone with a good Out of Shield. If you're willing to handle that again but a bit faster, you should enjoy it.
I dunno the numbers but the Kirby-like Up B, the flaming dropkick side B (formerly the Onslaught side B), Shotput neutral B, and headbutt down-B. I changed the side B to flaming dropkick after I got tired of having such a shitty recovery. It still feels kind of shitty but it's a better kind of shitty at least.
Brawler feels pretty bad to me but I'm determined to make it work. Any sort of tips or advice would be appreciated.
None and I don't really care to either. Smash Bros. is just not very fun playing it with strangers who just play stock no items final destination all the time. Then you have faggots who cheat by playing with a weird rule set you're forced to play with even though the game knows your preferred rules. Then there's how fucking laggy the online is and it's pretty much unplayable 80% of the time. Then there's the fact that there's some really good players at low GSP who just had a bunch of battles that didn't go so well so GSP is in no way a true reflection of skill.
Smash Bros. online is a just a terrible mistake all around.
Playing against CPU is the best way to play.
Or if your main requires precise spacing or inputs, it's infuriating to have such immense input lag is be like "wow that is definitely not what I fucking inputted"
>play against CPU
>they just read my inputs hardcore
nah
I advise you use the Helicopter Kick ( Webm related ) for its offensive purposes, and the Flip Kick Down B for a high recovery mixup option that should definitely help you with your recovery issues. The distance of Flaming Dropkick may look appealing, but I'd still advise Suplex over it: It's a really good command grab, easily the fastest of its kind that you can use to cover unsafe crossups on your shield and deal a solid 22%. You also have suicide jank on the ledge that can work on characters with bad recoveries if they're not careful.
>Bowser
>ROB
>Ganon
currently trying to get fox into elite smash
>play against cpu
>perfectly airdodge every single time i try to juggle them
>end up just frame trapping the whole game and learning nothing because cpus are the farthest thing from good practice as it gets
no fucking thanks
that DI was ultra sus
Helicopter Kick is retarded & sends at a beyond dumb angle. You should use it & see for yourself.
Fox is easy to Elite
>run at bad man and dash attack
>jab on their block which they will attempt to punish and fail every time
>read their DI and dash attack them again to convert into 2 utilts and another jab or grab
>enemy is already at 40-60%
works every time
wtf that angle is fucking disgusting
My mains currently are Cloud, Snake, and Pichu, in that order. I'm thinking about picking up Fox just because of versatility.
Thoughts? Any glaring matchup weaknesses?
Snake/Cloud is the kino dual main, you should double down on them
The problem is when you keep on losing against someone you know plays worse than you
>Kirby
>Lucas
>Shulk
>Richter
>Mii Gunner
I'll probably work on the Pits soon and geting my Simon back in.
Actually it's snake/wolf
None. I don't torture myself with matchmaking
that shouldnt be happening unless you are playing some matchup that is stupidly against you like Ridley V Palutena or Snake V Ness
Snake/Cloud is the Sonychad dual main, it sends a statement
>K rool
>Chrome
>Lucina
>Wolf
I'm close with Cloud and Ness but meh, it requires you to grind too much and the online is just atrocious and not fun so in the end it's not even worth it.
>it requires you to grind too much
if you have a character in elite than all it takes to take a fresh character into elite is 3 wins in a row and its even less if you get deeper into elite
I guess that's good if you know how to use the character and you haven't played it online, but in my case I learn it playing online so I lose the first matches normally until I know what I'm doing.
>Implying I touched Duckhunt or Lucario ever outside of the 3 matches I played to elite them
Smash character really arent that complex and unless you are playing Icies or Shiek just playing normally is more than enough to do well
Mario, DK, Link, Samus/Dark Samus, Yoshi, Kirby, Pikachu, Jigglypuff, Peach/Daisy, Bowser, Dr Mario, Ganondorf, Chrom, Ike, Villager, Robin, Cloud, Isabelle, Mii Gunner
I was trying to get everybody in but when it comes to certain characters it feels really difficult to play them in an imperfect environment where every other opponent is playing a heavy that doesn't die till 150% but can sneak kills at 80%. At that point you can't really get by on just fundamentals but actually need to know the character. At least to win enough times to get into Elite. You can win a couple but then be hit with a losing streak sending you back to a worse place than where you started. Especially disheartening when you were one match away from getting in. Worse still is that I had Fox in elite at one point, but he fell out over time and I had an awful losing streaking trying to put him back in.
Otherwise I'm running out of characters that I either enjoy playing or would be really easy to get in. Might try Wolf next before they nerf him.
I don't play online because its still a laggy mess, I don't want to deal with having to compensate for 1-2 seconds of input delay just to play.
Nobody cares but ok.
>where every other opponent is playing a heavy
people say this alot but everyone I play against is a zoner without exception, I see NOTHING but Snake, Ylink and Samus
None because I'm too cheap to buy the ethernet adapter and it's rare I have matches that aren't a lag fest. I do win quite a bit but I can't get on enough to get anywhere with elite
you cared enough to reply
>implying anyone else fell for the ethernet adapter either
dont fall for that meme, even with shitty wifi you will still be having minimal lag and most of it will still come from distance to the target anyway
I have a lan adapter and every match is still a lag fest
Friendly reminder that there is literally no character worse playing online than Ken. I'm saying this as a Ken main btw, it's by a large margin the most abysmal experience you could have playing online. I play on LAN and I still consistently get shitty connections, which is especially bad for Ken who is heavily reliant on specific inputs to make the most of his moveset.
Icies still get fucked harder since lag spikes can easily cause Nana to not react to an input and flig herself off a cliff
Where are my Richter / Simon bros at?
>1 stock 3 min cloud match whose strategy was charge limit for finishing touch and hope you walk into it after a certain %.
Only realized this shit after I won. Wondering what other cheesey matches people pull with certains characters online.
Quickplay is shit but I have to play it sometimes because Arena isn't as chill as everyone say.
>another Sonic with Sflags on and 300 stamina
Only DK and Wolf mostly because I stopped playing after the first couple weeks. Back on that netplay grind.
I've seen more than my fair share of Little Macs on FD with one stock trying to cheese out a KO punch.
Most common thing though is the people who do literally nothing but run from one end of the stage to the other to spam projectiles. Even if you show that you know how to exploit that, they don't do anything else. Chasing after them for the whole match is incredibly tedious and tiring.
I wish I had people to play locally with because the game is fun but this shit isn't.
