he is saying they shouldnt be forced into over time but have 40 hour work weeks. since they are most likely salaried (something companies often do to prevent paying overtime on jobs they know will have it) so they are just being forced to work overtime in what they seem to describe as a hostile work enviroment

he's asking for a 40 hour cap because "they are being forced to make AT LEAST 50 hours", which implies this is the actual standard
I wouldn't mind working 8 hours a day for a while if I got properly paid for it, but if it becomes a rule I'd definitely ask for a revision on my work contract
