yeah but you know less trees and shit

you should consider yourself lucky there's a disc in it instead of a sheet of paper with a code

>get new game
>disc is on the wrong side

Attached: borderlandsxboxonecase.jpg (3120x4160, 1.6M)

that a pc thing isn't it?

Not even a full game, either. They really put an early access game on disc for PS4?

yes, although I imagine it'll start happening on consoles sooner than later

on PC there's not a whole lot of choice though, most people don't even have an optional drive or it can't read blu-ray if they do, and games are too big for a dvd

guess could distribute read-only usb flash drives but devs won't go there if they can avoid it

They can at least put artwork inside

>game case is now thin, flimsy shell that easily cracks

I'm sure glad we let a bunch of commie retards control everything under the guise of vague weather claims that they can never prove.

>get new game
>no manual
>just a voucher for some crappy DLC weapon/gear and an advertisement for the dev/publishers other game

wtf

But but hugging trees and shit...

More durable than PS1 CD cases tho

>buy new game
>no manual
>no case
>not even a disc

I miss the old days.

What the fuck, Randy?

>Randy can't even get disc placement right
what's his fucking problem?

Only a nigger would be dumb enough to buy a physical copy of an early access PC game for their PS4.

You mean the long boxes right? CD cases are just fine, I have hundreds of CD's not just for games but music too, they're all fine

Thats what happens when you buy digital only games, faggot.

I think they crack and scratch more easily than current game cases.

That's the least of the problems of that specific game on consoles, though.

But sometimes we have nice things like pic related.

Attached: photo5852837091032019255.jpg (1280x885, 140K)

The PS1 jewel cases were ok, it was mainly only the big multi-disc ones that were prone to cracking due to all the extra space between the front and back.

>buy physical copy
>still no game included

>big toe barely touches cd case
>shattered into millions of pieces
Okay bub

>randy
all xbone games are like this

Can confirm, though I've never owned a Playstation so this doesn't feel strange to me.

Nah
Try not being 200 pounds fat ass

trim your nails and get out of moms basement you greasy shitter

Or a Gamecube, or a Wii, or a Wii U... or a DS... or a 3DS... or a Switch... or literally anything since the 6th generation...

Have you never owned a DVD either? Or any other disc based media? The disc is almost always on the right.

It was just an example. Dont even know what the game is.

>muh manuals ;_; muh nostalgia ;_; me and my mom used to go to walmart and I'd pick out a game and I'd read the manual on the way home ;_; I wish I was 9 forever ;_;
Give me one reason beyond "I want to feel like a kid again" that I should give a single shit about games not coming with manuals anymore. Games are more sophisticated than they were in the era of manuals, so there's no need to relegate the story to the booklet, games have more complex, context-sensitive controls than could be reasonably laid out in a manual and they usually just put those control guides directly in the game, you can put bestiaries and codexes and lore tabs in the game now because the storage space of newer physical media allows for it. Grow up.

I think it did happen with fallout 76.

All my physical games have physical copies. But thats because im not a PCfag.

What the fuck is MS doing?
Also, clean that shit out from under your nails you animal.

console games nowadays are just an access code and a launcher on a disc, while the actual game is a 70+GB "update"

The manuals are on the disc now and it's better because it's now in color and a fuck ton of different languages. If you got a physical manual you would be lucky to have color or any languages past english.

>buy physical copy
>has an actual disc inside
>it's literally unplayable unless you download the 20GB update, and patch servers could go down anytime

>guess could distribute read-only usb flash drives but devs won't go there if they can avoid it

why not? smaller size usbs are dirt cheap now. The other day I bought a 8gb thumdrive for like 5 bucks off aliexpress

>Those old 3DS games like Mario 3D Land, Code of Princess or SMT: Devil Survivor Overclocked that came with a manual.

Attached: 0ba.png (645x773, 10K)

simply because there's no need to, there's wide acceptance for digital-only on PC

a disc costs pennies to mass produce.
flash memory costs dollars to mass produce.

big difference in price when you're dealing with selling millions of copies. also devs don't want people to reverse engineer the usb to datamine files or something.

>cant play game unless you download update
Is this a PC thing? Xbone and PS4 let you play the game while the updates download in background. Literally have never come across and update that wouldnt let you play the game until installed.

>buy old game
>have to go though manual with concept art to see what those shitty graphics actually represent
>nobody figured out how to map controls properly yet so you have find out that you need to press ctrl+alt+triangle to move forward
>developers forgot to put world building in the game, so here's last minute addition on piece of paper
>probably has several pages of ads and teases games that are not being developed anymore

>buy a new game
>everything is in the game

read-only flash would be pretty damn cheap actually, it's not something you can even remotely compare to flash drives you buy in store

at the very least, it would be several times cheaper than steam and even epic's cut on every sales (but they probably still want steam for online and patch distribution, so it can't be independent anyway -- and thus they just give a steam download code)

>Xbone and PS4 let you play the game while the updates download in background
Dunno about PS4, but you can't on Xbone.

dunno about xbone, but yeah you can for PS4

unless it's an online game that won't let you connect unless it's up-to-date with servers

..well some online games will just run both server versions and leave a transition period, letting you play with outdated game

how did switch cases unironically become the GOAT of this gen

Attached: C5IiiEJWMAMNDHE.jpg (1200x900, 134K)

>You can't on Xbone
Yes you can.

Not fair.

Attached: 323532674574.png (207x243, 8K)

That's really awesome

even with read-only flash there's still the risk of datamining and copying the files to be used for piracy.

one day flash memory will become so cheap that it will replace discs, but until that day devs/publishers will choose discs because revenue.

>all that empty space
Why didnt they make the cases the same size as DS/3DS ones?

PS4 will even let you start playing a disc game whill the game is still installing data, given the instal is past the 30% mark.

How much plastic are we wasting for this crap?

Really? Because I've tried to play games while they were being update and it won't let me do it.

I can play a game if the console it's installing updates for some other games, though.

>implying you need a manual for a modern piece of shit game that won't stop holding your hand ever

A lot of Xbone and PS4 games have dual sided covers like that. Personally, that shit sould be required for every game since manuals dont exist any more.

>buy new game
>most shit isn't even in the game
>early access
>lore and other info are on their website
>ads are just in game rather than in the back of manual

>buying unfinished abandonware

Attached: 1534321448418.gif (1920x1070, 2.26M)

to combat grandma getting confused on which games are the 3ds and which ones are the switch

you can do that with digital games too

usually can't get very far but still let you get used to the game while playing the tutorial and stuff, it's a bit like playing a demo while the rest of the game is downloading

Goddamit, grandma!

The real hilarity of the situation is who published it

I-It's not abandoware... yet!

Who gives a shit?

Surely you can just flip the cover.

NEW GAME GOOD
OLD GAME BAD

ZOOM ZOOM > BOOM BOOM

>all that empty space
Yeah. They're already teasing all the content of the game

>t. chink

The console version is since it was being done by tattletale and not the fun pimps

That's not an answer. I didn't say anything about the quality of games then vs now, I just outlined the reasons manuals are no longer needed. Their purposes are fulfilled by the game itself.

Lay of the granola BC nigger

I'm more triggered by some physicals still having black on white generic spines

like, do you want your game to look like shit on the shelf compared to everything else?
you only had to paste the fucking logo on the side

Attached: 506184-dragon-quest-xi-echoes-of-an-elusive-age-digital-edition-of-light-playstation-4-spine-sides.j (134x1600, 27K)

big case = $60
small case = $40

Apparently they're trying to get the rights back to keep delivering updates to the console version.

Manuals should have died with the generation the Gamecube was in. Their original purpose was to explain the game's plot and show you how to play because technology was too limited to do these things. By the mid 90's, most games could already do this by themselves, by 2000 only maybe GBC games would still be struggling to explain themselves.

serves you right for buying snoyshit

based black guy for once

not becuase of the game tho, that game is trash and played only by niggers

This seems to be mainly a Japan-made game thing, no? I know a lot of Nintendo games do it too.

is it upside down?

OP's hand is black.

>Open up classic WoW case for pre-classic servers nostalgia
>208 page manual
>5 discs
>pamphlet with ads for Starcraft Ghost and $10 quality Blizzard IP action figures

Fuck 2004 really was the best time to be alive.

I but my games in those giant faux leather dvd binders, so all I care about is the cover

Get fucked commie tranny.

In the age of game manuals it was a given that you read them so you didn't have to play through shitty tutorial levels to learn the controls in every single game ever.

>More sophisticated.

Less sophisticated.

>buy old game
>its complete

>buy new game
>it doesn't even include the disc

look where the console's name is printed on the case

it's fine that Nintendo has a uniform aesthetic for Switch, everything looks good together

but for PS4 and Xbox, publishers are given free reign to choose what the cover art looks like
some companies try, others don't
Sony exclusives look like budget titles from the side

Attached: v6oirea6ecg11.jpg (2160x3840, 657K)

>5 discs
you say that like it's a good thing

Tell me how a manual could lay out every move and context sensitive action in DMC5 and still be cheap and small enough to go into every DMC5 case produced.
If you really believe this you're absolutely blinded by nostalgia.

Yeah Japanese games mostly do it.

>yuropoor spines

only for the PS2
all my PS4 games have great looking spines except for Soul Calibur VI and The Witcher 3 which look like shovelware sitting next to everything else

I'd rather get a cardboard disc than the big fuck you MGSV PC did where the disc only had the steam installer and that's it.

>Not just borrowing a friend's disc

Anybody else miss buying a new rpg and then getting home and reading the manual for it while taking a shit?

The spine for my version of some of those games has the actual logo, not generic font. Weird.

the comfiest feeling

Why do you even care about physical games if you play on PC? you already choose the soulless option.

>Euro cover arts are usually better looking than the US version a lot of times
>the spine part makes it look like one of those generic cases for used games at GameCrazy

I don't own an Xbone but surely this is just a fringe case

>Rated PG
>Rated 15
>Rated M
>Rated U
What kind of fucked up rating system is this? What the fuck are those? I've never seen a gamecube game with the logo on the top
>you're a pussy because you didn't drop your games

>that chunky Xenosaga II case
>actually own it
>they never released Xeno I or any previous Xeno game over here
>comes with a DVD recapping the events of the first game
>never release Xeno III over here
>:^)

Xboner cases are all like this.

FUCK YOU

PAL Gamecube cases got the logo on top, like every other platform that gen and since
for some bizzare reason NTSC ones have it at the bottom

15 and U are film ratings, probably because the game comes with a DVD or a trailer so they have to run it by the BBFC british film board
or in some cases of graphic violence it would get a big 18 film rating on the front, like GTA or Mortal Kombat
00s UK was shit scared on violence in games after some 10 year old killer his friend after playing Manhunt

Life is good for those of us with a Nintendo Switch

Attached: serveimage?url=https:%2F%2Fi.redd.it%2Fq5xqtwljqr911.jpg&sp=22e8ab7f08599dab85021d50eb757244.jpg (4032x2916, 2.31M)

Manuals are no longer needed like records and paperback books are no longer needed? Why buy those when you can stream music and download books on a kindle? And yet they still exist. People just like the novelty of these things, and that's not going to change.

Modern manuals can serve as a bonus, featuring artwork, brief developer notes/interviews and thank yous. Things that could be in the game, but serve better as a physical item (yes i realize they may want to sell that shit separately)

It doesn't need to only layout control schemes. Why buy special editions when you could view artwork and listen to soundtrack in game? Granted not all games need it, but it's a nice addition to a 60$ purchase. Doesn't even need to go overboard like Summon Night 6, with 70 pages.

Glad I'm Canadian

>buying a game 8 times

>have to wait for disc installation
>have to wait for updates
>if the servers ever go down these updates are impossible to get

so much for physical future

>Wasting 300$ on a ports machine

Eh, but the covers are very cool!

They may not have been the most durable things around, but at least they had a consistent design on the spine with the black background. Assuming we ignore the horrid green strip/header of the greatest hits imprints.

He truly was... an Octopath Traveler...

Seriously, they made the cover EIGHT times and couldn't spell traveller right once?

a fuckin leaf...

it's spelled traveler though

- The case is actually thinner because the manual and game cart are on the same side
- To make it less easy to shoplift
- To be considered equal with PS4/Xbone in terms of shelf exposure

If Switch game boxes were square, it's possible they wouldn't be considered as console games when compared to its competitors.
Also, all three are of equal height. If square, Switch games can be depicted as "manlet game boxes"

What's the point of tall cases anymore? Might as well go back to PS1-sized cases.

PS1 cases were awesome, glad Nintendo copied them with the switch cases.

Attached: IMG_7543.jpg (640x659, 55K)

That's ok, enjoy those soulless high framerates and pony dick mods, i'll be here replaying my Wii and PS3 while checking all the cool manuals and maybe even sniffing some of them.

Then i'll place them back on the shelves and touch all of them as i slide my finger across the side of the boxes.

Attached: 1548883490112.jpg (2296x2464, 285K)

easier to spot at retail stores and catches consumers attention more. years of market data and analyzing it has come to this.

Wii and PS3 didn't have boxes, they had plastic cases
Now the Super Famicom, those boxes were awesome

There's a pdf you download to print those covers, I'm guessing that shot is just 8 different games with the box art swapped out.

I remember back in the sega genesis days you would get a thick booklet.

Based and sniffpilled

Literally nothing more brainlet than an anti-environmentalist

I'm glad that memory cards are gone from consoles.

what's even the point of a manual if the game itself is going to explain everything and have help tabs and tutorials and everything you could need

Y'know that's how all the xbox one cases are right? Their all that bad

Shit. i did not know about that. Downloaded the game a while ago.
I want one of these now.

they put this unfinished piece of shit onto PS4?
Is this a joke?

fewer trees.
less paper

sometimes the manual explains it in a different language not present in the game.

>commies control everything
>standards of living are better than ever before
hmmm

I'm indifferent when it comes to memory cards, but I'm glad battery save systems are gone

>tfw every single of your old carts can't retain saves anymore, and like hell I'm going to replace the battery

>Cardboard boxes

Disgusting, collecting games is only worth it since PS1/PS2/Gamecube/DS consoles.

It's not appreciable, but it's a tiny notebook with a map in the last page + the soundtrack. I expected nothing when I opened the case and found that. Nice touch for a great game.

Attached: 1534106506864.png (557x605, 227K)

I'm just really salty about memory cards because I had mines corrupted twice. Once by PSO's infamous save freeze glitch on Gamecube, another on PS2 with the Viewtiful Joe demo.

Not enough!

IMO it's little things like that unironically define the whole soul v. soulless thing. When you can tell that it was made be people doing what they love, not a corporation pushing deadlines.

>game gives you stickers

Attached: maxresdefault (2).jpg (1280x720, 169K)

They've been pretty much doing that for 5+ years now, are you one of those people that still ask why theres that 5 second teaser at the beginning of a movie trailer on youtube?

I hate this not because it looks shitty next to all the other spines that have the actual logo/font/box art but because it makes it way harder to quickly recognize what game it is without having to read it out sideways.
I excuse my switch games having similar generic white on red spines since those cases are real fucking thin.

I never had memcard corruption but even if I did I always had backups

at least with memcard you're free to move/copy your saves around unlike cart integrated save systems

I think your Peach is dead.

everytime i laugh at broke ass xbox niggas
they shit gets worser and worser

Yeah, I think that they realize that if a game has some good artwork, they'll just release that separately, and they're more content-rich and better quality than any instruction manual anyway.
Practically every modern Japanese game released has some corresponding artbook sold on Amazon Japan, and there are also many art books for western games, including indie ones.
The problem is most of these artbooks can be very expensive, if not the same price as the game itself. Also, they are not released alongside the game but many months after, and you have no way of knowing when they get released until you actively search for them.

PAL Dreamcast cases are kino

...I honestly agree with this.

>Ratings mark is so big they had to move and shrink the game's own logo

That looks obnoxious.

>they even had to shrink and kick logo to the side to make room

Too fragile. I swear they would just crack on their own.

Let's be honest games are disposable product and has no need to be stored on a shelf once the game is played or finished.

Attached: 14215812515060.jpg (604x453, 23K)

Are we still running out of trees?

Yeah I'm sure that simply having a case but no manual and no disc is much better.

Tree farming became sustainable, so maybe not.

I wish i was German, that way i could just go full pirate/digital only and not feel bad about it, yikes literally all the box arts are ruined, physical collections there are absolutely worthless.

Wait, the xbox logo is in the case?

I haven't owned a console since the PS2. How do you transfer your save to a buddy's console these days?

Attached: Nintendo-Hyrule-Warriors-Legends-3DS-2DS-USK-12.jpg (404x368, 62K)

these days saves tend to be locked to your account and if you try to give them to someone else they don't work unless the console is hacked

At yet some games STILL don't give you an easy way to revisit a tutorial, or a control scheme, or give you an effective run-down on the setting and major characters if you haven't played the game for a few months.
Technology might be at the point where we don't "need" manuals, but the industry and development standards sure as fuck aren't.

Remind me of the PS3 games, with transparent cases and artwork inside (for the exclusives at least). Too bad they went with the blue case this time.

>THE MANUAL IS IN THE CASING

Attached: images (2).jpg (300x168, 5K)

I actually really like those spines. It puts all the games on an "even playing field" so to speak when you're just reading the titles of games to see what you want to play.
It only becomes a problem when one or two do something "colourful" and stand out like a sore thumb making the others seem bland by comparison.
I couldn't imagine what a steam library would look like if there wasn't a standardised "list" and every game got to design font/colour/pattern of what their title looked like in the list format. I imagine it would look like somebody swallowed and then threw up a candy store.

wish vita's approach had picked up

when you open a game (any game, it's standard), there's a manual icon and it even saves the last page you were on for quick revisiting like to see combos and such

and it's usable offline given it's not like many other consoles do where they just open the web browser for the manual

>game case has an artbook, a music CD, a reversible cover, and a GOOD game in it all for standard price

Attached: ys-viii-lacrimosa-of-dana-launch-edition-ps4.jpg (800x450, 169K)

EU Sony spines have this generic font on color background thing, US ones have logos. It's like with PS2 but now it isn't even uniform in the EU. Don't know why though.

I miss the colored logo. The white logo looks soulless as all fuck.

either black, blue, or white. those seems to be sony's favorite colors.

For the non streaming box model, yes.

Probably light/ice blue, though gray or black might work if they market it as a 4K only machine.

It will be interesting if they go for orange to compliment the PS4's blue.

discs will always exist for playstation because of third world countries. how else are they going to play fifa?

it would be more because Sony profits on the sale of blu-rays

this time they'll probably have proper support for 4K blu-ray which PS4 Pro didn't support, and proudly announce it as a new great addition while not talking about video games

this was great. I wish more jrpgs did this. like tales of vesperia definitive edition would have been better if it was bundled with the vesperia movie.

>the manual is lovingly put together with artwork alongside actual information

The last time Nintendo did that was with Mario Maker.

This is why I like to buy older games too, open the case and there is a manual along with the disc or game card. Best feel.

shame not more games make use of this with blu-ray

it's possible to have a game disc both function for game and be usable in a normal blu-ray player, so you don't even need a 2nd disc assuming your game isn't using all of it anyway

>buy brand new game
>it is an used copy

Attached: gamestop.jpg (1068x623, 157K)

Do you wipe your ass with your bare hand or some shit? Clean under your fucking nails you disgusting fuck.

>call yourself gamestop
>half of the store is filled with plastic figures

>expect PC Games to come out on 7+ DVD discs

Fault here is Bluray drives never taking off on PC

this game is fucking garbage
i've surprised there's even a console version, shit is literal shovelware

"A used copy" my ESL friend

steam basically killed physical media on pc. xbox was trying to do the same with xbone but people boo'd them because of the always online DRM.

rather than blu-ray, read-only usb flash storage would be ultra cheap and work for everyone, it's essentially same as a cart on consoles (and cheaper than older ones if anything).

Blu-ray also tend to have licensing fees attached even though the disc itself is cheap.

but there's just no real motivation/demand and no standards for physical game distribution on PC so no one will bother with that

.hack hybrid pack disc had a movie on one side and a game on the other side of the disk.

>kindergarten teacher says she will read our favourite book if we bring it in
>I bring in the instruction manial for the SpongeBob Squarepants Movie game on ps2

She didn't read it

Attached: images.png (552x555, 23K)

the problem with read-only usb is DRM. what's stopping people from datamining or copying data from it? at least with blu-ray you can't rip data from a ps4 disc unless you own a hacked ps4.

Why the fuck does this game have a physical release? It has been stuck in early access for six years.

Dumb bitch teacher user i feel ya

THIS. So fucking much.
>grab display copy from shelf
>tattered, punctured, scratched and dirty
>says "brand new"
>expect factory sealed brand new game
>bring it to numale at the counter
>starts ringing up display copy
>tell him I want a brand new copy
>says they don't have any and display copy is brand new
>tell him a brand new copy is unopened, factory sealed, and that I don't want it in that condition
>numale gets visibly buttflustered and disregards what I said, dismissing himself from me
I've been using Amazon ever since and never looked back. Can't wait until they go under. It's not long now.

Lean Keys. Almost entirely missing from modern games. Just one example. Compare the original Dungeon Keeper to a modern style of that game. Where are games like Battlezone which are part rts, part fps and part vehicle game? Several genres, once common are now no longer even around due to people complaining they were too complex.

it's not like it has to be a standard storage device anyway, it could have its own drivers with checks up the ass

but unless there's standards (like say.. steam-issued drivers), would need drivers for every different games

Standards of living are better in spite of that nonsense, not because of it; and as we can see, they're actively working on that, hence why the current generation is so fucked.

Tell smell of new plastic still there after 10 years.

You're either 20 or 21 now, given the fact that you were in KG when Spongebob Movie Game came out. Unless you were in KG way after it came out...

should have just gone back to ps1 size cases if they arent gonna have a decent manual anymore, would save them so much money

Attached: idk feeling.jpg (483x430, 61K)

You ever go to a virgins house and see those pathetic little posters plastered on his wall scratching and ruining the paint? lol

Because I'm a collector and I like having a piece of 2D art to compliment the disc. Also because it serves as a quick explanation so I don't have to bother with the garbage tutorial in most games.

The real problem with usb is that they don't have the longevity of a disc. They could do it the way console cartidges like the NES but I don't know if that is possible with regular USB drives
They don't need DRM, the DRM has to intentionally be added in. My game will be a physical copy exclusive and be the first blu-ray physical copy for PC and will be DRM free, it'll be released on USB too but I prefer disc
I have a few DRM free physical copies that use USB, got them from indiebox
There is plenty demand and would be even more if they were actual physical copies with the entire game on the physical media and doesn't require some console wannabe platform like Steam and they advertised it. They can do it, they just choose not to and it doesn't help there are millions of corporate cum guzzlers that will pay for digital distribution anyways. I see a lot of people say they prefer physical but pay for digital if a physical copy isn't available, by paying for digital they are voting with their wallet against physical copies but they feel the need to "support the developer"
There are a lot more people than digital distribution drones think that stopped paying for games when PC went digital only, and there will be a lot more people that never pay for a new game again when consoles go digital only.

Based

What the flying fuck mine came with none of that

Man the Sly Cooper games did it really well, anyone else the game manual was the Thievious Racoonus, and each addition the book got aged and tatterd.

Explain it to a brainlet who doesn't live near forests.

The guidebooks were also really rad because they were step-by-step but in a comic book format.

We're in a new time slip

Last time I saw some effort put into a standard edition

Attached: IMG_20190406_024028.jpg (3968x2976, 2.95M)

TOO much effort, if you ask me.

>Game gives you posters
this should be fucking required by law

It'll just be game-specific credit cards you feed into the console, and dlc on a separate credit card, and you insert your own credit card to buy/preorder PSN games. Sounds like a great way to experience cutting edge digital content! *Stoklasa face*

trees grow pretty fast, the denser the forest the worst the wildfire, pretty simple to understand

thats not a standard edition, a game cant have 200 awards before it launches

why not just move the title to the top where there's ample room for it instead of doing what they did?

It can. It's things like "E3 Best of Show" or "Best RPG at Gamescom" awards.

Forests produce a ton of dead, dry material, fallen branches, dead leaves, fallen needles as well as lots of small trees and brush that fill the gaps between between larger ones. That creates a whole load of incredibly flammable material that is in close contact and will spread very quickly if set on fire.

Unless you want massive wildfires as a common occurrence (and they can happen naturally as well as being set on purpose or an accident, such as with a lightning strike), you need to go into the forests, clean brushwood, coppice smaller trees, clear and maintain firebreaks and generally take care of the forest or it'll go up like a tinderbox in summer.

Trees used to make paper are grown as a crop, not just clear cut from a random forrest.

sany always wins, baby!

so they are fake awards like being given participation awards for a sport when your a kid

Attached: why lie.jpg (1275x636, 130K)

I'd rather just just have a logo and be done.
Some PS4 editions do it and it's simple, to the point and non intrusive.

Eh. It's more like it was just recognized as the best of a particular category at some industry event. I do think it's a bit deceptive, but they'll do and say anything to generate hype and interest.

>they shit gets worser and worser
what a nigger you are

Fires are a natural part of a forest's life cycle. Some trees don't reproduce until after a fire burns through them. This worked well for millions of years until humans decided that they wanted to keep forests EXACTLY the way they are right this minute. Areas with heavy environmental protection are basically that neighbor that has entire rooms full of old newspapers and a faulty electrical cord.

Cool, thanks anons. So overall just further proof California's government is fucking retarded?

in the first world no
we actually plant new trees

Are you braindamaged
Do you know how long it takes to grow a tree?

Indeed.

I'd say its more proof of people on Yea Forums talking about a subject they know nothing about.

Ok but you don't need to use paper to make inserts/booklets. That age has been gone a long time.

that's why rotation exist

N

Not that long. I planted a pine tree when I was 9 or so and it was already taller than me by the time I was 11.

oh god I remember that

Do you niggers remember fallout 3’s survival manual and how cool it was? Im also pretty sure RE5 came with a cool manual too. I wanna be a kid again

Attached: B73E20BD-BB72-4458-AC30-78C3F6CB837A.jpg (376x339, 44K)

HOLY FUCK. A tree grew 4 feet in 11 years! talk about fast

2 years, learn to read.

MMOs? LUXURY! Back in my day we played MUDs and we were grateful for em!

Even what you get on the disc isnt the game. You have Day 1 patches that replace the whole thing.

Physical made sense in the PS2 era but not so much anymore.

Needless to say I dont play new games because I have respect for the artform

no because I had already switched to being digital-only when I got fallout 3

Worst than that is that GOTY editions don't even come with all patches and DLC on disc. It's just the base game and codes again.

Eh, people living in areas and not taking proper precautions against the natural events of that area are fucking retarded. California's got wildfires, flyover country's got tornadoes, yet everyone gives the spud farmers a pass when they cry about rebuilding their town after it gets obliterated by dead men walking for the tenth time.

I miss instruction booklets

imagine literally trying to argue the point that it's better for forests to burn them down

>Game: Complete Edition, everything is on disc and everything's fine
>new DLC gets released for it

Attached: 1554046431212.jpg (403x401, 191K)

Shadow of War definitive edition bothered to ship with 2 blu-rays, 1 for the game and the other for the dlc and updates, the only time this gen I ever saw that happening.

it is
now fuck off and die, hippy

>buy new ps4 game
>no physical manual
>manual is just the game with a shortcut URL to a slow-loading website in PS4's slow-as-balls web browser
Whatever happened to a slick and quick barebones PDF viewer like the Vita had attached to every cartridge/download?

it wasn't logging restrictions is that no one went to clear up the brush

why dont you shoot me with your banned fire arm redneck

I'm just arguing that it is inevitable. All forests burn eventually. Human actions can make things worse if not properly considered.

The original Borderlands 1 GOTY was already like that on PS3.
Until they did a second release of BL1 GOTY on PS3 which had the patches/DLC as optional installs off the disc itself. I don't think I've seen any games on PS4 that have or allow you to install multiple things off the one disc?

What does your point of "forests burn down" contribute to the discussion then. Are you implying we should just get it over with and do it now? youre a fucking dunce

This. I had the Pacific Ocean map from Silent Hunter III on my wall for years.

face it, only that autistic kid reads the manual
besides anything you can put on a manual can be done better on the actual game

Attached: 1553548666966.jpg (474x531, 55K)

fuck video games

vita way of handling digital manuals should've become the industry's standard

you could just hit the PS button and check it quick and it'd still be on the last page you were on, and it worked offline because it's not a fucking website

That has literally zero to do with environmentalists though. It's just corporate cost cutting

>accept that forests burn
>plan how to best control them when they do so the forest and human developments are able to quickly recover

>don't accept that forests burn
>plan to prevent any and all fires
>face escalating costs as the risk escalates
>have no functional plan when the fires inevitably overpower human resistance

>on the actual game
Looks like you could read a bit more yourself, user.

revolutionary thinking, you should pitch your great ideas to the park rangers

This. The autist reads, while the Chad kid just occasionally sniffs the manual and then puts it back.

Yes, and so does the massive industry that has projection of demands and has planted trees decades below to manage it.

You control them by managing the forests.

It went to shit once Sony started allowing a "no multi-tasking" mode on Vita, where that manual would require you to shut down the game in question to look it up. Most of the later games made use of said feature because devs couldn't be arsed to memory manage better for titles that didn't run or look as good as the mid-gen titles.

Still doesn't excuse their terrible mess of how their did it on PS4. There are actually some fucking PS4 games there with 404'd addresses to their manuals, and that can't be changed without an update to the game.

I'm not pretending to have invented forest conservation, just saying that people fuck up and forget what the goal is and that leads to shit getting fucked. Think about how many acres of trees there are in the world. There's no way that every person responsible for them never makes mistakes.

I'm so glad memory cards are dead bros now we have to pay 60 dollars a year to continue our game at a friends house as it should have always been.

>games can't display text or straight up demonstrate stuff more effectively by performing it
the absolute state of booklets, go back to discussing twilight on fb

ok?

Sometimes I miss manuals. Often times they went above and beyond simple game info. Blackhawk Down came with a huge manual filled with weapon pictures and stats and trivia. Felt like there was some care put into them. Dickheads who think loosing little pieces of personal touch like that are
>a good thing
should unironically kys.

Yeah. So in summary

>trees burn
>sometimes that's bad
>sometimes that's not too bad
>humans burning is usually bad

>early access
>physical

Yikes

So like steelbook covers? I would love that too desu

can you please rephrase your zero substance post once more so it seems like youre talking about something in particular

That is fucked up, man.
Seriously, did anyone on the production line even look at the first batch!?

>Actually buying 7DTD
>A game published by a dead company
>A game made (and not finished) by a company that's basically made up of one coder and everyone else is an ideas guy
7DTD has been in early access for a long ass time and it's going to stay that way
You bought vaporware retard

>A lame reversible cover is winning

You nintendo fags will jump at anything won't you.

Sure

>thing bad
>thing good
>thing also bad

It's kinda cute, to be honest.
At least it's different and not the typical, overpriced "here's a lame-ass, cheaply made statute" or "here's a shit-ton of DLC!!!!"

just don't make friends bro

> Paying a Nintendo tax just to get an over-sized box

"WE IZ WINNING THE CONSOLE WAR!"

...

It's been updated 2 month ago and had a major update in December, re texturing most of the game and reworking world generation, also more vehicles.

>A lot of Xbone and PS4 games have dual sided covers like that.
Name 10, I swear all of mine just have those words I never bothered to read.

You fuckers better get your assholes ready for a fat black pill:
Fortnite for consoles on store shelves is a download code in a box that gives you shitcoins for the free game.

Kids are being conditioned to accept nothing for their money. In less than one generation, it will be standard practice. Just like paying to use your own internet, Pre-order bonuses, day-one-DLC, season passes, microtransactions, and """""roadmaps""""" of """""extra content"""""

Before I die, I am certain a fully priced game will exist that does not let you start playing at all until you pay up first.

>I am certain a fully priced game will exist that does not let you start playing at all until you pay up first.
What is half the subscription MMOs that exist? What is EVE prior to the F2P update? What is Xbox live Gold?

>their

>he doesn't know

yes and literally every big game does it

>there's still the risk of datamining and copying the files to be used for piracy.
What? As opposed to a disc?

I'm pretty sure all the games I have beside me have it

>buy old game
>big, color manuals
>read them while taking a shit

Feels bad new games won't ever give me this feeling.

what game

fuck yes
I remember re drawing all the illustrations bigger in art class when I was in high school
