There is no known relation between Meta Knight and Kirby; the ability to copy abilities seems to be something shared between everything created by Void Termina, and Meta Knight doesn't seem to have this ability. Meta Knight just being an "older" version of Kirby is complete fan fiction.
Of course, it's not completely out of the question for Meta Knight to be related to Kirby, but it'd be odd since nothing has ever referred to that fact. The only notion suggesting this is that his face looks similar to Kirby's, but a lot of things on Pop Star have anatomy similar to Kirby, like the laser guys or Waddle Dees or Lololo/Lalala, which is completely coincidental.
