Playing Bloodlines for the first time but I'm told that I already fucked up by not downloading the unofficial fan patch from the get-go.
I've already sunk a few hours into and haven't had any problems yet, it worth restarting?
Playing Bloodlines for the first time but I'm told that I already fucked up by not downloading the unofficial fan patch from the get-go.
I've already sunk a few hours into and haven't had any problems yet, it worth restarting?
if you want to actually finish the game yes
Yup, original game has some truly gamebreaking bugs making you unable to finish the game.
I think the gog release is already patched if you're using that
It depends on which version lf the game you have.
The GOG version has the unofficial patch included so if you have that, keep playing.
Obliged. Any recommendations for basic or plus?
Steam unfortunately.
Don't even listen to these retards who are just parroting what they heard on google, I completed the Steam version unpatched twice before I knew of the patch and I never encountered a single bug nevermind a game breaking one
its installing a simple patch vs potentially encountering an unfixable game breaking bug near the end of the game, dont be a fucking retard
Don't listen to this retard, just download the unofficial patch, you'll catch in no time seeing as you know exactly what you're doing up until that point
>Any recommendations for basic or plus?
Just basic for the bug fixes. Plus is essentially a mod and it's not all good.
Definitely restart the game, user.
Also install the basic patch, plus isn't worth it unless you already know the game.
Lacroix dies
Which fan patch?
What does it do?
What even are the differences between Basic and Plus at this point?
I can't find a comprehensive list anywhere..
>people acting like every malk dialogue response is fishmalk-tier
>not understanding the point of the stop sign interaction and tuna joke, saying it's just stupid "lol ur so crazy XD" stuff
I really hope the devs for VtMB2 don't hate the Malk since half of the criticisms being posted here are exaggerations or misunderstandings
In the Unofficial Patch changelog you can see the plus patch changes because it'll have a + at the start of the line. It makes a lot of changes to quest rewards, adds a bunch of custom or cut content, switches around item placements or adds new things to pick up, etc. Plus patch is basically a custom content mod while basic is mostly bug fixes.
all the gamebreaking bugs were fixed with official patches.
unofficial ones just rebalance the game, add cut content and fix some minor stuff.
Someone might know in this thread; what steps do you have to take to join the Sabbat in the Clan Quest mod? I understand that you need to have low humanity, but how low? Also, does completing the plaguebearer quest for Maximilian and what's her face impact your ability to join the Sabbat?
So whats the point then
except no. there's a shitton of bugs that are fixed by unofficial patch. lots of items didn't work, disciplines bugged, getting stuck in random places, lots of quests are bugged and not providing proper XP rewards, etc.
He's already dead, retard.
nevermind, fixed
lol u can join Sabbat? wew
Not really. I played this game before i had access to internet or the knowledge about mods/patches and i played it just fine. Didn't experience any game breaking bugs, just minor glitches.
The tuna joke is about LaCroix and the Sheriff killing your sire like the chef killed the tuna's father. And that even if you win the chess game you can still be killed if you try to open it.
The stop sign is probably related and telling you to stop playing into the corrupted politics and trying to open it.
It's actually kind of fitting that they're prophecies and most people didn't understand them, since that's supposed to be the Malk curse. Which is why I hope the devs don't hate them too.
MUUUUAAAH *pop*
I played the game with the last official 1.2 patch a few times and was able to beat it every time, but had to occasionally load an earlier save because of stuff like NPCs getting stuck or locking up. And it would randomly crash more. But the game is able to be finished without the fan patches if you installed 1.2.
Yeah, in this Clan Quest mod you can. Apparently there's a whole new hub too.
When you mention it, i seem to recall having to load an earlier save once or twice. It's been almost 2 decades so i can't vouch for my memory being perfect. But i don't remember if it was because i made a big mistake like getting into a bossfight way too weak, or if it was glitches.
There are some glitches more common without a fan patch, like when you go to confront Jeanette and Therese for the final time, they'll just keep staring at the painting and never start talking to you. Or if you talk to Chunk he'll freeze and never start dialogue so you can go up to see LaCroix. The bum for the serial killer quest can run into you after the dialogue is over and get stuck too. Along with more crashing during level changes.
Would be cool if some of the funds earned from VtMB2 go toward officially fixing VtMB by the old devs, though I doubt that'll happen.
removes niggers from the base game.
Never played with low humanity, does it actually affect anything? Do you get a game over screen at 0?
Is there a mod to make the Brujah male a different ethnicity? The clan is literally unplayable. I'm surprised this made it through quality control.
t. Wesp
So uh, tremere
>have functioning antediluvian who somewhat cares for the clan, which means they can print new gen 4s and upgrade higher gens for free
>already practice blood bonds so treason is less of a problem
>their magic can curse an entire clan, automark antitribu planet wide, etc, no other clan has access to it
How are they not ruling everyone else by now
I don't think you have to restart. Just get the patch and keep playing.
I'll shill for wesp any day, user.
but to balance it out, I think he went overboard with the plus changes. It's just adding unnecessary things.
I think there are special dialogue options, not sure how many.
It does, you become more of an asshole in some dialogs and don't care about atrocities. I don't think you can get to 0, and 3 is the lowest you can get by just killing randos.
Just google unofficial vtmb patch. Fixes critical bugs.
Continuing an old save with the patch can break some stuff but it might not matter if he's still in Santa Monica. Still probably better to just restart the game though and rush back to where you were instead of potentially wasting even more time continuing and encountering a game breaking bug later.
>you become more of an asshole in some dialogs
Mostly this, and some dialogue solutions for quests are only possible with low humanity but it's a low amount of how many.
I think with low humanity you sometimes get dialogue responses to stop talking to someone and force yourself into a frenzy too, but I'm not positive about that one.
>I think he went overboard with the plus changes. It's just adding unnecessary things.
Yeah, he should add a third install option to only have cut content restored and the more minor additional changes like XP reward adjustments.
Society of Leopold bug can be circumvented with console commands. That's how we did it back in 2004.
>Is there a mod to make the Brujah male a different ethnicity?
I have a feeling you picked the wrong IP buddy.
I love the Malkavians in Bloodlines 1, but THEY ARE FISHMALKS. Acting in a way no sane or insane person would act, being random, breaking the 4th wall, using too many metaphors when you could just say what you mean are all traits of a fishmalk.
What discipline gives vapmires the supernatural ability to fan the hammer on a double action colt anaconda?
It's such a garbage heap of a game just as it was when it first came out.
Overrated, janky mediocre RPG. Why do people like it again?
No, I like everything besides having to play as Jamal.
Absolutely start anew and get the unofficial patch, but be sure to install the BASIC, not PLUS version. This is very, very, VERY important.
atmosphere
Unironically, it has soul. It's immersive. It's... fun.
Did the raptor scare you?
It made me jump. :')
Big game companies should be embarrassed if VtMB is still better than what they put out even with its jank and being unfinished.
Is it possible to skip the haunted house??
i'd rather have that than generic dialogue like other clans do.
also, there's a lot of thought put into the vast majority of malk's responses. sometimes it's played straight, sometimes there's like 3-4 different layers to the metaphors.
The only thing you need is the official patch that makes your game not crash when you get into the boat. Don't go down the unofficial rabbit hole.
yes
if you look closely you'll be surprised by the skin tone, user
good. it's scary.
>buying the steam version
I’m sure Activision appreciates that money you wasted on them.
>baiting this hard
I'll still take it: this game is the definition of SOUL
>finished vtmb for the 37th time
No.
We're going home soon, friend.
even if you were Jamal (you're not, you're still whitey), you're a fucking vampire, human shit like how much melanin you have mean jack shit to you now when you're dealing with mummies and demons and wraiths.
i think ive finished it like 4 times
This reminds me, haven't played kotors in a while.
I'm somewhere in that range as well. Tried all the mods, patched, unpatched, all clans, the works.
as released the game was impossible to finish with at least a couple of clans. it's possible steam release fixed that though. if I put on my grandpa glasses and remember back: I'm pretty sure I hit that bug, patched the game then and there, and could continue on with the same save file. it's been a while though.
it's literally the only quest you can skip through the console, right?
You can skip any of them if you know the right commands.
no, one of the game breaking bugs happens at the end of Society of Leopold. You can skip that whole chapter via console commands, or get to the end (where the bug happens) then use the console commands.
You see, the masquerade is just another form of God's punishment, but instead of having his eye overseeing and torturing Caine, there's a systematized internalized surveillance inside of our dead corpses. A total anarch or Sabbat victory would only change the surface level of things and ways to inflict big G's punishment.
huh
yea but jack seems to actually be having fun
press ~
noclip
damn paradox purged the BL2 asset leaks pretty fast, did anyone get the names?
people saying there was some woman in a green dress as well.
Why? What does the plus do wrong?
every time cus for some reason I think it's going to be further in
It's a mod, and even without talking about the quality of it, you shouldn't really install mods that heavily alter the game if it's your first time playing. But a lot of what it adds is pretty low quality, though it does add some neat stuff too.
I don't have a problem with the Plus Patch, but it does add numerous unnecessary things, solely for the sake of doing so. You're a first time player, the Basic Patch should suit you fine; only tamper with the Plus Patch once you've finished your first play-through.
Raptor never scares me. The T-Rex roar does even though I know it's coming.
the only actual way to win vampirism is to be a gangrel sperg and do your own thing. jesse from east la has it figured.
I've played the game several times. I'm just wondering what exactly the plus patch added
>once you've finished your first play-through.
I would suggest after a few playthroughs at least: a Malk run, a Nos run, and a run with at least one other clan (the latter being the first run you do at all).
I finished it in release before unofficial patches were a thing
Just play on and install on next playthrough, it'll make you appreciate it more as well because it'll fix annoyances that will come up during normal playthrough
are there people who can actually enjoy this? you know almost exactly what's gonna come, you just did it like a day ago. it just becomes a slog. I can at most replay a game every 5 years
You just have to role-play head-canon autism your way through.
>are there people who can actually enjoy this?
Yes.
Why the fuck would you play a game with all this nonsense
Im gonna get another pc since mine died, but holy shit i dont miss this ass fuckery one bit
Why would you skip it?
Guess I'll post it since nobody else has. debofnight.andcuriouser.com
I know that few, user.
More than half my gameplay time was spent on Nos and Tremere.
The thing is it isn't. It wasn't even back in 2004.
I don't know what meme kot means and that user probably knows the lore better, but what I think about them is that isn't what they want to do. they're lost in their theories, their own heads is where they want to live, that is what they love. power is only interesting insofar as it makes it possible to live in their own heads
>can't even install a simple unofficial patch without losing his shit
Fucking zoomers.
New levels, new ways to solve quests, adds cut content back in like some unused weapons, adds a minor Sabbat questline, and some minor changes to how XP/humanity is rewarded or taken away.
I think you're better off just going with the Clan Quest Mod if you want more content since it adds a bigger Sabbat questline and lets you use the plus patch along with it though.
you're wrong
>I can at most replay a game every 5 years
My favorite ones I can replay at least once per year.
I play VtMB at least once every 6 months, but I don't play it the same way every time. I'll come up with different ways to build the character, sometimes play with maxed stats from the beginning, switch between vanilla and the Clan Quest mod, sometimes go through the game slowly listening to all the dialogue, other times rushing through the game while listening to the full albums from in-game bands, etc.
I'm new to Bloodlines and World of Darkness. Which clan favors or at least houses Kindred seeking information, why things are the way they are, or just "the truth"?
Cute boy_.
Lots and lots of shit. Here's a couple of examples:
>+Provided shortcuts to skip most endgame fighting, see walkthrough.
>+Created homosexual history for all clans and adjusted intro scene.
This is why people think it goes beyond bug fixing and content restoration and is just flat out modding the game.
>It wasn't even back in 2004.
It won multiple awards when it was released even with the jank and crashes, it just had low sales because it was overshadowed by HL2.
uhh
ugly as fuck
Did they ever got that warrens shortcut working?
I can and have. Its just nice to not have to deal with it. Like OP. He wasted hours of his free time before knowing theres some obscure patch he needs.
Its literally gamebreaking and sucks.
Brujah used to be scholars although they're more "fight the power" types now. Nosferatu are information brokers, but not really seeking "the truth". Tremere engage in a lot of occult research. Malkavian clan curse gives them a lot of information although they're not necessarily looking for it.
What's with the general meme that this game has "terrible combat"? It's perfectly functional for the genre and honestly isn't much worse than The Witcher 3, which I know isn't exactly great anyway, but the point stands.
Anyone who calls the combat in this game "terrible" either straight up doesn't use the blood powers, or has never played a game with actual terrible combat, i.e. the elder scrolls and every ps2 3d platformer that isn't ratcher or jak.
I'd unironically rather fight a crowd of VTMB enemies than play DMC2, for example.
Was it only pc on release?
You don't NEED the unofficial patch. We all played vanilla 1.2 back in the day before unofficial patches existed without much issue.
>This is why people think it goes beyond bug fixing and content restoration and is just flat out modding the game.
Yeah that's been a complaint since the beginning and why the True Patch is a thing, the earliest versions of the Unofficial "Patch" didn't even have a basic option and forced you to use all the unnecessary changes. Wesp still says it's just a restoration patch though lol.
The unofficial patch comes included with most retailers now, which is what fixes most of the bugs.
Don't bother installing the unofficial patch "plus" version. The plus version is what adds a bunch of OC DONUT STEEL characters and dogshit writing.
Yeah
Of course. It would have been wildly inferior if it was dumbed down for the c*nsole mouthbreathers.
Yeah, it was never ported to console.
It comes with most sellers now anyway, but yes you absolutely did need the unofficial patch. There's a point in the game where you literally can no longer progress without it, a part where you need to get on a boat.
>some obscure patch
>obscure
Everyone and their fucking mom knows about it
Cool, it's bein a few months, i guess i'll play a hacker this time.
t. zoomer who never played the game
I've never played a game with more palpable sense of natural conversation and roleplay in my entire life
Troika truly made magic happen with their busted piece of shit beta Source build they were provided, and no other developer has ever come close to immersing me in dialogue to the same level VtM:B can
that'd probably be why it's overrated, because it does literally two things extraordinarily well (player choice and dialogue) and everything else around it could be pretty generously described as unfinished
The combat is only not terrible in the sense that it's not a major pain in the ass unless you are a retard that never put any points into combat skills. It's certainly not fun. Compared to some other RPG I've played, like Gothic which is both not fun and a major pain in the ass, Bloodlines is at least easy to breeze through so by virtue of that alone I can live with it.
>There's a point in the game where you literally can no longer progress without it, a part where you need to get on a boat.
That was fixed with the 1.2 patch the actual devs put out soon after release, you don't need the fan patches to fix that. The game is still just buggy without them and more likely to randomly crash or softlock.
Not OP apparently. I bought the game on steam, nev3r played it but wouldve have no idea.
Just saying having not to deal with this shit is nice
>There's a point in the game where you literally can no longer progress without it, a part where you need to get on a boat.
That was fixed in official 1.2
I played at launch. I still have my retail copy. I was one of those people who actually had to use the console to beat the game because the official patch hadn't been released yet.
>and no other developer has ever come close to immersing me in dialogue to the same level VtM:B can
Same, I never cared about dialogue/roleplaying before I played VtMB, I just always played RPGs to build different characters for combat. But VtMB made me want to roleplay as a character.
I still think the gameplay is fun, even if it's unbalanced later in the game, and it has one of the best soundtracks.
>That was fixed with the 1.2 patch
wrong, it was fixed by the unofficial patch
And i remember getting fanny flustered by the boat so much and the patches weren't fixing it, it's how i discovered the unofficial patch in the first place, it's what fixed it.
I agree user. I would have done Brujah too but who wants to play some nig
>What's with the general meme that this game has "terrible combat"?
Half of the people complaining about it probably never put points into combat stats, even though the game tells you multiple times to do so. And others don't pay attention during the tutorial to learn about how what direction you hold while melee attacking being a pretty big part of it. And yeah along with your Disciplines, some stealth, feeding, blocking, the combat can be fun.
I could understand if someone complained just about late game being unbalanced for melee characters, because that's a legitimate complaint. Melee is weaker than firearms after a certain point and some enemies hit you just as fast as you hit them like the 3-headed shits in the sewers.
You are objectively wrong. It was years before the unofficial patch was released. The game was not unbeatable for that whole time. It got one official patch and fixing that bug was basically it's only purpose.
This. It's shit, but it's easy enough so it doesn't matter.
moddb.com
>The patch addresses a number of known issues, including fixes for the Society of Leopold quest
The official patch fixed the boat crash. That was the main reason for it being put out after the game was released.
I think they way to word it is these sorts of characters are eccentric sane or not. Insane people do not have a grasp of what reality is. You can be eccentric and know what reality is.
Still haven't played with Brujah and Gangrel. Which should i go with this time?
>the bar in East LA plays the music from the Titty Twister in From Dusk Til Dawn
neat
What mod?
mod?
The whorehouse is also playing a Nine Inch Nails - Closer remix.
Clan Quest Mod, if you join the Sabbat you get a new Sabbat territory hub and quests.
Clan Quest mod.
The game was patched when it was released for steam.
The game breaking bugs are pretty much non-existent anymore.
Gangrel. Brujah was fun until they "fixed" unarmed.
A question I always wanted to ask:
Do you actually not get a loc pick for the whole game, if you skip the turtorial?
It should be still finishable, but is this really intended?
>VTMB 2 announced
>Confirmed to have both first person and third person views, changing for things like dialogue and combat
>Everyone on Yea Forums throws a shitfit and panics
>This is LITERALLY what the first game did
Do people really post about games they haven't played on Yea Forums
gangrel has unique transformations
brujah are just strong and fast nigpires
you can buy one from Trip's pawnshop for 100 dorrar
I got to go there even though I ultimately chose not to kill Gary. If the condition is joining the sabbat then it is ok to tell the tzimisce that you are going to join. it was good content, I was very pleasantly surprised.
contrarian zoomer shitposting has been rampant the last few months
>The whorehouse is also playing a Nine Inch Nails - Closer remix
Going there next, it's pretty cool to have a new hub to explore, having no idea where something is in this game again is nice.
they're relatively cheap at Trip's
even if you're short on cash, the welfare payout from stealing the cashbox from the gallery will get you like 3x the amount you need.
>unable to finish the game.
or fucking load it, I had to wait for 3 years for a revision to the UO patch to play it. worked on xp though.
show me some games from 2012 or older with better facial animations, please, I want to play them
I think it's $198
I'd recommend getting a save up pretty early and going back to see both routes. neither is Very long (victoria is significantly longer) and it's fun
Alpha Protocol
Gangrel it is. by the way, isn't there an extra point on some skill you can get from Becket if you are Gangrel? I remember reading about it somewhere.
it's like $85, you can buy it with the cash envelope you get at the start
>it was good content, I was very pleasantly surprised.
Same, I didn't like how other mods mostly changed the vanilla game, so I was pretty happy to see entirely new content that was of a decent quality.
Victoria was kind of hot
camera actually went first person for dialogue and gunplay, and back to third person when you were doing melee attacks, if I recall correctly
>Somehow still making unofficial patches
I swear the dude just invents issues with the games so he can endlessly "fix" them.
>attack cab driver
>don't get murdered by the sevenfold curse
Checkmate, cainites.
>not embracing the beauty of the human figure and society
>not flawlessly mastering the art of socializing
>not finding the beautiful, emotional, passionate qualities of the fine arts - even in death
>his clan isn't composed of alluring individuals and artists
Fucking savages.
Is it? It seems to vary depending on the patch or mod. In this Clan Quest mod I'm playing if you skip the tutorial they just give you the lockpick.
both routes? I don't understand
Where are you getting these from and is there more?
A lot of the new versions are just to fix bugs he accidentally added in.
Good to know. I just checked my room and restarted.
in east la you have to choose which of two candidates for the bishopry you wish to infiltrate. the other one being Hazel.
>Do people really post about games they haven't played on Yea Forums
Obviously. It's kind of like how people were saying "I hope Bloodlines 2 isn't all political like games are now" as if Bloodlines 1 wasn't dripping with politics already. It reminds me of when people were whining about how Fury Road wasn't really a Mad Max movie because it was all about Furiosa. All they were really telling people is "I haven't seen Mad Max 2 or 3 and know nothing about the franchise." Why people feel they can talk with authority about subjects they are completely ignorant on I will never understand.
>It seems to vary depending on the patch or mod.
I thought it was, but I just checked and it's $90 with the True Patch. I remember playing and not being able to afford it even with the money in the desk you get at the start but I guess it was from some mod changing the price.
>spoiler
dude the chick at the laundromat....
Oh ok, I'll make a save and check'em both out, thanks for the heads up.
A lot of people complained that the game is SJW now and won't have titties even though the first trailer showed some cleavage, so they're complaining without even watching the trailers, let alone playing the original.
There are some things to complain about and legitimate red flags, but I hope most of those people realize that just looking for things to be upset about won't make them happy and excited in the long-term.
He sort of does. Read through the patch notes and you'll see lots of:
>4.1
>deactivated X because stupid reason
>modified some stat checks for no reason
>restored cut content
>4.2
>reactivated X because my reason for deactivating it was stupid
>reverted stat checks modified in previous version
>fixed bug created by restoring cut content NOTE: RESTORED CUT CONTENT IS BROKEN, DO NOT ATTEMPT TO PLAY IT
Starting this up and seeing this brief Jeanette intro scene always makes me absolutely marvel at how much good voice acting and good animation matter. Her model is, in any other context besides ingame, absolutely awful, but she still manages to be sexy as fuck even compared to modern game characters just because of how well animated and voiced she is.
This goes for most of the characters frankly.
Just finished The Final Nights mod, I'm actually not impressed.
I though this was the go-to mod, with huge changes and additions, that get's recommended by everyone.
Turns out it's just a regular mod that tweaks some things, maybe making the game harder. The new quests and NPC are not even worth mentioning.
Was I meme'd?
>not being able to kill any of the end game bosses
>only being able to side with the faggot ventrue and stay his bitch
but m-muh socializing
Combat Tremere or Malkavian or gtfo
i havent played any mods so idk :D
Honestly, I don't think there's any mods for the game that are worth it beyond bug fix patches. Fans just can't produce content that measures up and they don't really have to the tools to do so anyway.
I think I've seen what you're talking about where the lockpick is priced exorbitantly at Trip's. It was a while ago though and I don't remember what patch or mod it was.
the prostitutes on the street look like 10% of the effort was put into them, compared to Jeanette
>not being able to kill any of the end game bosses
is there supposed to be any strategy to fighting the kuei jin snail lady? that boss seemed pretty damn unbalanced desu, and basically no skill. not hard to beat, but if I didn't have bloodpacks it would have been.
Because they get fucked over every single time
>start as mages, try to become immortal
>get stuck as shitey vamp 'mages'
>unite, try to get clans to like you
>end up making a ton of enemies, even the cam don't like you much
>tremere himself tries more shit
>creates the antitribu
>saulot turns him into a worm
>try to assert more power over the cam
>second inquisition nukes the fuck out of your main base, clan now in shambles
No matter what tremere do, fate will find a way to fuck them over
Just run in circles and shoot her in the face until she dies, it will take a while, but you don't really need bloodpacks.
>Turns out it's just a regular mod that tweaks some things
That's what most mods did for a long time, I think the modding tools weren't capable of much more. Never really saw anyone recommend it like you're saying though.
Try the Clan Quest Mod next. It lets you choose to only use the basic version of the Unofficial Patch during installation, but still get all new content. Most of the new content is pretty good and doesn't feel out of place with the rest of the game.
All the unnamed NPCs look and animate like shit, but even Trip looks memorable and expressive in spite of his horrible textures.
>not using celerity and going full smooth-talking neo
>not siding with the camarilla against the kuei-jin and the sabbat, both of whom routinely curb stomp the anarchs
>putting all of kindred society at risk just because you don't like the figure head
A few mods say they increase the difficulty of the game but it usually just ends up being in annoying ways like that.
>Combat Tremere or Malkavian or gtfo
Dementation is pretty cool since it can be used in combat and dialogue
>some guilt laden shit about society
LaCroix is that you
which skills do objectively open up the most content? I'd really like a tier list so I don't have to experiment. I think hacking wins, but between intimidation and lockpicking? probably lockpicking? between lockpicking and persuasion? idk. I don't want to console command my way to giga-chadhood, but I also don't want to waste my time
Flame thrower.
So, will the new game have the "money" cheat?
you know if not for the elders being totally inhuman and controlling vast portions of government, I think vampires could be accepted in the open
>implying human leaders aren't totally inhuman too
I really like the melee. Feels meaty, like when you hit someone and you can feel the impact. Being able to smack multiple people with the same attack and send them flying was the best. I dunno what people are saying about the melee being bad. All they really need to do is fix some of the animations being wonky, like the claws and it's gold tbqh
>Brujah was fun until they "fixed" unarmed.
what now?
>decide to try some cheats
>hmm money will come in handy
>try to add 1000000 money
>the universe gets swallowed by prostitutes' tits
lockpicking can basically carry you through the game alone, it's absolutely the top tier.
Yeah, 2 instances. I forget the first but the second is available when you bring the sarcophagus from the giovanni. If you have at least 3 in every discipline beckett gives you access to celerity. If you're not gangrel he gives you protean. Both have a max of level 3, and you have to ask him about himself or something, persuasion check
Maybe they shouldn't be faggots then
persuasion, lockpick and research are king. hacking is good if you havent played it a billion times like me and dont remember all the passwords
Hacking is ok, but once you play this game enough times you memorize all the important passwords so it becomes a waste of points. But you got to get to that point first.
Ya I know but its exacerbated
Forgot they also created the gargoyles to protect themselves, only to have them escape, cause havoc, and now one of them is one of the most dangerous vamps in existence
You can put points into Persuasion and Lockpicking/Hacking on any character while still having enough left for combat stats, some just start with higher stats in those earlier but you can put off most of the side quests until you're ready. Those will let you do pretty much all the side quests if you get Persuasion up to 6 or 7, just put points in Security and then use Blood Buff for harder locks, and get Hacking up to 6 or 7 too I think.
did anyone legitimately choose to "kill" jeanette over her bitch "sister"?
even if you completely disregard the sexy aspect, jeanette's just a more entertaining character
I disagree on the Witcher 3 part, the games gameplay loop is nothing special, but it's not horrible and mostly a very simple hack and slash. I might also be a bit autistic considering I did find the Witcher 1 combat to be pretty fun
I also tend to have a pretty high tolerance for mediocre gameplay, as long as I am not miserable while playing I can overlook weaker parts of a game while appreciating other aspects.
Unarmed is shit.
Armed and Shooting should be skilled over time.
Lockpicking is really good.
Hacking is top.
Sneaking is top if you plan to use it a lot.
Intimidation is useless.
Persuasion is top.
Seduction is the most fun one, but not essential.
Defence and Bashing are often undervalued. I personally find the one reducing damage better than the one avoiding damage.
my wife
Lol trust me, those hours won't mean shit once you realize how broken the game is without the patch
am I correct in believeing that seduction and intimidation are virtually always a waste, as is haggle?
>jeanette's just a more entertaining character
I rp'd a super serious ventrue. therese is easier to work with/more predictable in terms of politics. I think anyways.
if i remember correctly the one you try to save actually dies, so you couldnt know it on your first playthrough, ofc u can reload lol
Depends on the character. I don't use any of those, though, especially haggle. Never pick haggle. Scholarship is good on any character imo. You boost research and persuasion through it.
They're not always a waste if you want to roleplay as a certain type of character, but Persuasion is a bit more useful. A few points in Haggle is okay since the first points are cheap if you're playing a character that uses guns since ammo can get expensive, but obviously you shouldn't try to max it out.
>therese is easier to work with/more predictable in terms of politics.
They both lied to your face and tried to manipulate you, but only Therese tried to kill you.
I heard that one of the patches fixes some of the broken quests that were cut for time from the original release. Is that just the Plus version?
No, it depends on who "likes" you more as determined by previous dialogue with them
I think it's just the library level and yeah it's only in plus.
It wasn't that good IMO, there were only some references and textures for it so everything else had to be built from scratch and it has an annoying bossfight with fanfiction tier writing.
>They both lied to your face and tried to manipulate you, but only Therese tried to kill you.
the thing is, therese does intrigue by the book if there is such a thing. you know where you have her, she is a workaholic, unimaginative backstabber. it should be possible to work with her carefully, and it should be possible to triangulate and disarm her. with her sex life jeanette introduces a whole lot of unknowns, and there's a fair chance she'll abandon her post which is an opportunity but also creates a power vacuum, ie, fighting.
doesn't that only matter if you choose to take the gun yourself?
I've always had it work just fine based on which one you pick. Therese was pissed as fuck at me for always backing up Jeanette but I was still able to save her, and vice versa.
I'm playing for the first time right now, picked Ventrue, and Therese never tried to kill me even though I gave Jeanette the locket. The game keeps trying to constantly insist that she did, but nothing happened when I entered the diner. I waited around for a bit, and still nothing.
I talked to one thug guy who didn't really threaten me or do anything violent, and I did use domination to tell him to fuck off, but if that was the guy that was supposed to "try and kill me", he did literally nothing until I spoke to him, and if he was trying to kill me, then his murder attempt was acting slightly rude I guess.
Is this supposed to be a bad thing?
There's probably some score threshold with both of them at which you get to choose, but if one them didn't get enough points she loses either way. UP also alters it somehow.
That's something that was added by the plus patch. Normally, they just attack you when you go to answer the phone.
This is why some people hate the plus patch because it fucks things up.
they attack you when you run over to the phone. i don't remember why you were supposed to go to the phone, but I remember that's what happened.
The phone never even rang in there. I just went in, told the thug to fuck off after wandering, and then went back to Therese to find the sisters fighting.
I guess it could be the plus patch like said, but in that case the phone still should have rang, right?
Wesp probably made it so the phone didn't ring if you talked to them because the conversation on the phone is mostly about the thugs trying to kill you.
I'm not sure why he added that in. It's not a restoration and it wasn't done very well, just low quality custom content.
The phone does ring either way on plus patch and they do attack you if you don't try and talk to them before walking to the phone.
*sniff*
>tfw want to play the game but worried the hotel i always hear about is going to spook me too hard
he's coming
I guess 4channel really doesn't have any age limit. Does it?
Is it just me or does the GoG version include the Unofficial Patch?
It does
double spoiler that shit nigga
neat
it is unironically spooky, but still a very good experience and memory
The hotel is genuinely scary but it's also sort of easy and sort of short if you've ever played an adventure game before.
the biggest threat in the hotel isn't even ghosts it's dying from annoying fucking steam blasts or running out of blood if you forget a bag because there's no humans around for that entire experience.
O P E N
I T
just noclip through
The hotel is not scary. I don't understand why people claim it is. Oh, a ghost! I'm so fucking afraid of that as an undead vampire. Not.
there are only 2 major spoogy bits
the hotel and Hollywood main quest
Anyone got that image explaining clans and what to install to get the game running?
You better be when going through the corridor of hurt.
It's called atmosphere, pleb. But I guess you're too cool for that.
I want to breed Korra so bad
if i wanted a dialog simulator, i'd just play a VN.
I jumped when I went down a hallway then turned around to see the ghost with an axe right behind me. One of the few times a game made me jump without using a loud noise, which I'm okay with. And it was creepy seeing him walk around the boiler room. It was just pretty good atmosphere-wise though, even if it doesn't scare you.
i'm 23
it was really goofy. it was like an irl haunted house
Just started a Malkavian run for the first time. I'm liking it so far but since most of my dialog is different does anything change if I put points into persuasion or seduction?
You literally HAVE to patch it. I am utterly astonished it hasn't hard crashed on you yet. The game will stop working altogether at the half way mark if you don't install the Unofficial Patch.
This poster is trolling and trying to get you to sink hours into the game just to reach an unsurpassable midway point. Don't listen to them. The game is literally impossible to finish without the Unofficial Patch.
>sabbat really live in apartments like this and don't see any issue
>watching a vtmb speedrun
>some bug to get both tapes at the same time and watch them one after the other
>audience gets quiet and you can tell the mood changed a little bit
yikes! make way for grandpa
Yeah you can still get the Persuasion or Seduction lines, but you probably just want to get Dementation up to level 3 since it can be used in dialogue instead and is more unique than the other social stats.
They aren't human, after all
But a living human chandelier or something wouldn't be too bad
Thanks.
>The game will stop working altogether at the half way mark if you don't install the Unofficial Patch.
The Society of Leopold crash is farther than halfway in the game and the last official patch fixed it. There are some other issues since the game is old like blurry textures since the game wasn't build for 4gb+ of RAM though if you don't use one of the fan patches.
It's not absolutely necessary to use a fan patch as long as you installed 1.2, but it's still good to do so since the game is still buggy and will crash more often.
that's just the lobby, victoria is cultured to say the least
What? I've never actually SEEN a ghost in the hotel beyond the blue spectral energy around objects and the girl who runs away/talks to you. Are there specific skill conditions to seeing this or something?
happy to help
based
Not him but yes if you walk in certain sections of the hotel you see different shit. I didn't see the ghost pop up behind you either the first time through because I was trying to rush through it but I saw it on a different playthrough
>Played the game at least 2 times before I knew patch, bugfix, mods were a thing.
>Don't remember any problem finishing it.
Unless the 2004 DVD already came with that oh-so important patch included, you're all a bunch of crybabies.
When you first go in the hotel, look to your right down the hallway, and you should see him. Then go down the left hallway until you come to a deadend blocked door, then turn around and you'll see him again.
Wait is this a patch or mod or something? You can get celerity as a gangrel if you have three in each discipline?
the zombie house with the crackhead and the first time going through the abandoned hospital where you meet the bright eye chick is scary too
Is there any confirmation Not!Christina Hendricks will be in the game?
I think it was only a couple of clans. I played nos and had it happen
It's from the plus patch. But you can get a free point in Research if you talk to him about everything in the vanilla game and use Persuasion to have him tell you more about himself.
>antediluvian
I looked up what these guys were and it mentioned the survived the Biblical Flood. Is all Christian stuff canon to the World of Darkness?
>bright eye chick
I love Pisha.
Is anybody more familiar with the lore and knows what she is?
Is there a Clan the eats flesh, is she a mutation or something completely different?
cool. Dis is gonna be fun
I forget what they're called, but the loading screen tip that talks about mini-clans that sprung off from existing ones mentions them towards the end. Yeah, they're a flesh eating clan.
Mostly yes
she's a nagaraja
this game is set in the Old World of Darkness and yes. New has crazy shit like the God-Machine
She's apart of the Nagaraja bloodline. They're flesh-eating Kindred, and feared by all other Kindred due to their grotesque nature. They don't have fangs, but instead pointed, long sets of teeth. Vitae isn't enough to sate their hunger, whereas flesh consumption is.
Reminder that Rik Schaffer literally composed this a day after he got released from prison
Her being slightly blurry in this pic makes her actually look a bit scary.
But I still love her too
i mostly go for the third option. get them to make amends
Makes sense because of Caine & Abel and Gehenna -- guess I just never considered the rest of the Christian stuff like the flood.
Thanks anons
That Comic Reshade looks pretty good, might reinstall
Me too. Even if I'm not going to play a social character it feels wrong to not at least just put a few points in Persuasion/Seduction to have them reconcile now.
Next time post the full version.
i got the other 3 as a seperate picture
It's so nice to see some new faces around here
so how strong where the 2nd generation vampires? in the end they still got fucked over by the 3rd generation causing caine to curse them
if you didn't kill the anime girl you are no friend of mine. that's a hunter user! she has unkilled before and she will unkill again!
I'm not sure, you'd have to ask the other anons. My knowledge of the lore starts and ends with the game pretty much.
yukie is cute
so what clan is the sherrif from again?
The Jewfro guy in a bathrobe from the trailer is confirmed. Also this is from the company's website who made the trailer
>we fitted our performers with head-mounted GoPro cameras, which allowed us to capture truly immersive footage, and get much closer to the characters that the viewers will interact with
which implies that all the characters in the trailer are in the game as well
i played this game for the first time recently and theres a lot of stuff which is dated (often level loads even on ssd, shitty combat, graphic is fine but walking animation is pretty weird) the one thing which made me truly appreciate the game was voice acting which beats most modern games even today
what are you some kind of anarch? well you can just go to heck then mister how's that
Probably Nagloper
Afaik before Caine cursed 3rds all vampires were equal as far as the vampirism itself was concerned, only Caine himself was more powerful.
Tzimisce but for niggers
>Japanes girl
>short skirt
>You can often see her panties, when she is running or getting knocked down.
It's really the attention to detail that make the game timeless.
>Due to LaCroix claiming he had acquired the Sheriff from Africa, along with his use of Animalism as well as a form of Vicissitude, his clan is rumored to be the Nagloper, a legacy of the Tzimisce hailing from Africa.
never confirmed though
>any armor that has a cape
>clips through your chest and hangs like some kind of bib all throughout every cutscene
sure is
>Monkey paw, I want VTMB2!!!
>it's on the hands of people who are afraid that writing Malkavians might insult retards
dumbfuck
More like
>The original team isn't making the sequel and the devs are popping their cherry with it.
I am writing this post while I wait to gain a humanity through dancing. I wonder how much will I be able to write? Man I love this game, I love the girl cast they are all amazing but I noticed that with the CQM the tiddies were smaller than they should. God bless money command, though, am I rite? The command is bugged on Damsel, but oh Lord how much I want to tie her up and slap her with my dead dick. She would probably laugh at it, making me even more angry and forcing me into a way of having sex with her through magic, I'd pin her to a wall and fuck her bloody, literally, I'd bite her neck and fuck her so hard that the antediluvians would wake up from their slumber and get a piece of that snarky ass too, it would be the first gangbang made by the third generation and I would single handedly prevent Gehenna through the power of my cock, a hero to kine and kindred, and oh well finally got thay humanity, back to playing goodbye.
Cringe retard, the first game was in the hands of the man who said that
>I wait to gain a humanity through dancing
had no idea about that
They should just play up how the insanity visions and conversations with inanimate objects are actually magical foresight bullshit that doesn't make sense on the first viewing.
a cape? did you get to pick the color?
Explain how that changes anything. Ed Boon had been making sluts for over 2 decades into his games, and now he's covering them up in burkhas. And you dare call someone else "Cringe retard"? Look at yourself and think hard about what you're doing before you speak.
That'd be really awesome, maybe like Arkham Knight's Joker hallucinations.
I too just started the game for the first time but I installed the plus patch, did I goof?
also im playing male bruja
I think it takes like 5 minutes and most songs in the clubs are around 4, and most people probably don't dance that long. But if you let it go after the song restarts or the next one starts playing for a bit you'll get that Humanity point.
Should I give the lady in the hospital the red pill after saving her?
Even in an interview after VtMB Mitsoda said he wanted to be careful about how he portrayed Malks, so that's not really new. And it was mostly a journalist making comments about how VtMB portrayed mental illness, not the devs. I don't think they're worried about it, especially since the deluxe edition items are related to some of the Malk stuff like the stop sign.
Apparently for the new MK though it's not exactly Boon but some new character designer doing that shit. Boon just seems to be going along with it for some reason, but it's stupid. They have more clothing than actual professional female fighters.
a hangy bit. I'm specifically thinking about the top male ventrue armor. it hangs out at an angle kind of like a waterfall at roughly the level of your diaphragm
And it only works once in every club.
>I too just started the game for the first time but I installed the plus patch, did I goof?
Yeah, I don't think you should ever really mod a game your first time playing because you don't know what you're changing. I'd restart with the basic patch if you haven't gotten too far yet.
Darn, I've already been playing for like 6 hours too, I guess i'll just finish it, i'm sure its not radically different, right?
>tfw Toreador with Malk bf
Some parts of it can be but you still at least mostly get all the good vanilla content. I'd replay it once or twice with the basic patch after so you can see what was changed though, especially if you have any complaints about the game. It's not too uncommon for someone to make a complaint only to find out it was caused by the patch changing something.
Right in the intro of the game I could differentiate the one part that was added in the plus patch, that cop in the sewer area where it teaches you to fight, guy sounds like he recorded the audio on one of those cans with string attached
Eh, maybe hold off on admitting that you're a vamp if you want to walk out without hurting someone else.
Turns out some strangers react awkwardly to you telling them you just fed them your blood.
You implied that it's in different hands this time, cringe retard
Well is there anyway to get your own Ghoul?
Cause they just suck. Plain incompetence. For comparison the Ventrue had their Antediluvian be the first to die and they have no unique disciplines, no magic. Yet they've still managed to dominate vampire politics.
I thought clan quest was pretty awful overall. Sabbat route also sucked.
>6 hours
That's like 3 hours if you start again.
And the total game is about 50 hours.
How do you spend 50 hours on this game?
Minor spoilers, but she can show up again either way if you help her. But she cries out if you bluntly tell her you're a vampire, which can prompt a hostile security guard to rush in.
I'm bad at guessing.
30 hours seem to be average.
Ah so based on that, your sire was working for LaCroix and somehow coming out ahead. It may be even your embrace was under the Prince's orders. But it was all a setup so they could lie and say it was unauthorized to kill your sire and use you.
What kind of stance is this?
Camarilla power stance
>use Auspex in the basement because spooky noises
>see the ghost through a wall creeping toward you with an axe
fucking any of them. witcher 3, hellblade, tomb raider games, the last of us, uncharted games, alien isolation, ryse son of rome, quantum break, any of the modern cod and battlefield games.
>have functioning antediluvian who somewhat cares for the clan, which means they can print new gen 4s and upgrade higher gens for free
>already practice blood bonds so treason is less of a problem
>powerful magic
The Giovanni are also organized, ruthless, possess a pretty powerful and fairly unique magical discipline, and have an active Antediluvian leader.
Both have the same problem. Their Antediluvian and elder leaders are much younger and less experienced in their disciplines than the "true" Antediluvians and their childer.
So ancient elders of other clans may still fuck with them, and the Sabat probably really don't like them.
what do the sabat actually want? at like an elders level
they want to kill the antediluvians
what game breaking bug are you going to run into in vanilla?
ahhh right
pretty metal desu. what do they imagine comes after that?
There are random issues like NPCs locking up but that can be solved by loading an earlier save and trying again. The only constant issue is when you get on a boat in the Society of Leopold, it'll just crash instead of going to the next level. That was fixed with the last patch the devs put out though, so it's only if you're playing the game totally unpatched that it'll happen.
You should always at least check for official patches when playing a new game to see if it's up to date.
>what do they imagine comes after that?
The Sabbat isn't exactly famed for their long term thinking
Pussy
its a pain to do every single time you do a playthrough
unlike the rest of the game nothing can change about it except what side of the staircase you walk up.
I imagine it goes like this: "No more domination by elders and no prophesied apocalypse. It'll be an immortal vampire utopia with all vampires holding hands blood bonded together in peace and harmony as princes of the night ruling over the world."
guys im new to this game (I played it a few times around the time it came out but never finished it and never got farther than the haunted mansion cause i was too scared) now I'm on chapter 2 and after years of VtMB threads on Yea Forums i'm wondering, which is the best faction to side with?
>which is the best faction to side with?
The Kuei-jin
its much more fun to decide for yourself and see how you fucked up later
just remember not to open it
i thought it was just the sabbat, anarchs and cammarilla, is that like a chinese faction? ive only heard about chinese myth vampires from knox and killed that one chinamin
guess i will, thanks amigo
>Replying the game
>Just finished the museum part
>Talking to Becket at the end
>mfw he thinks Caine isn't real and vampirism isn't a punishment from God
Somewhat related, since the old testament is real in World of Darkness does that mean dinosaurs are fake news, or is a creationist/flinstones situation where they lived alongside humans?
Is it true that valve fucked this game?
The answer is "stop thinking so hard"
Open it if you want, ignore the running joke everyone loves
Don't listen o this loser.
Open it and become a god!
It actually doesnt matter.
Reporting in, I JUST finished my second playthrough as a Malkavian.
Gotta say, picking the Occult Nut background and investing in guns, auspex and obfuscation just fucking makes the game shit itself. I was snapping dude's necks and shitting all over them with my deagle by the end of the game.
Compare that to my first playthrough as a Gangrel where I struggled to do fucking anything at the end.
Does Yukio have some extra appearances besides her quest and helping you take down Ming Xiao's topside dudes? She just told me to fuck off once we reached the entrance to the temple underground and that's the last I've seen of her.
you can largely get by on 1-2 sneak. sneaking without leveling it at all is kind of like sneaking in any video game, anything above 1 is superhuman but just human works fine.
you should see the gehenna novel, beckett gets absolutely btfo
I like it more when gets injected by some strange drug thing by Laibon in BJD and turns into a raving Gehenna Prophet
You mean in the tabletop canon?
Basically a wizard did it. Science based magic users rewrote history or something and God is a sad emotional girl who doesn't give a fuck anymore.
And as for elder vampires who should know about the Technocratic rewrite of History like Beckett ... I don't know man. In canon Beckett is a Noddist, he totally believes in Caine.
Well no, Beckett is a noddist that tries to disprove that Caine exists
>using spoiler tags on an old ass game
what the fuck is wrong with you dumbos
High level sneaking and obfuscation is really OP.
What would be a hard fight with everybody else, turns into a string of insta-kills.
I also just finished a replay and in the last third (Hunter Mansion, Sabbat HQ, Kue-Jin tempe) I could takedown a room full of enemies, one by one, without getting detected.
At LaCroix, I didn't feel like playing anymore, so I snuck past everybody.
You are stupid.
yeah i really liked bjd, a fun and interesting read
i liked that it wasnt scared of mentioning vtmb stuff as well like therese was mentioned
Pretty good writing, great voice acting
I just got to Hong Kong and quit and I started to lose my drive around Hollywood. I liked the game a lot around Santa Monica but it just keeps going down. Does it get better? If not, how much longer do I have? Only thing that makes me kind of want to keep going is the interesting story and characters.
Will the new one have a Trump joke in it?
China Town* not hong kong, was playing Deus Ex
Hopefully they won't double down on gore and do the exact opposite in the sequel.
Bloodlines had some pretty fucked up and gory stuff but it was usually only on corpses, as a vampire I want to implode people from the inside and drink blood from five dudes simultaneously. I also liked that part in the old Stardust Crusaders OVA where Dio just did a swatting motion with his hand and straight up tore some dude's stomach out. Feels like I grew up on vampire fiction like that - Kain's descriptions from Blood Omen as to what his spells and tools can do to people are straight up inspired. I want the same shit and incredible style in Bloodlines 2.
It's a topic explicitly asking a question for someone playing it for the first time.
>palpable sense of natural conversation
>YA RAT SUCKER!
>natural
Chinatown is the shortest hub and then you have the final stretch of missions, a lot of which are exclusively combat and bad. Judging by what you said i.e. losing steam in hollywood, which shouldn't have happened, you might as well give it up now if you're not enjoying it. A portion of the post-chinatown endgame is horrible, the only truly bad part of the game for me.
Freeze motherfucker.
