Halo 3 is a imperfect FPS hoisted up by the work of O'Donnell's OST and Bungie's art staff. The game play itself is an incredibly simplistic and barebones FPS. This makes it excel in the MP aspect; all console shooters bow to Halo 3 in terms of multiplayer. But the campaign is a pretty basic series of setpieces. The campaign works when you are engrossed in those setpieces. The Warthog Run is famous for a reason. But when you are outside of those setpieces and you are just John 117 casually gunning down grunts with the BR, the campaign loses its luster. It is a good game, it is not a masterpiece.

M8, the combat is weightless and the enemies are just damage sponges. While I hate DS combat for how sluggish it is at least it feels like you're hitting something.
