Do you guys have a YouTube channel where you post videogame related stuff ?
And if you don't own a YouTube channel yourself, what kind of stuff do you like to watch in terms of videogame related videos ?
I don't see these threads too often and it's one of the few parts of Yea Forums where I see actual discussions.

Notepad files with "Darude - Sandstorm" playing in the background

I made some gameplay videos a few years back that are sitting on double digit views
In retrospect i'm not sure why i even uploaded it, but there they are.

Attached: 1547333664009.jpg (256x245, 15K)

I have a few videos that are in the double digits and a single vid about world of horror that is going towards the 1200 views.

This. I usually use unregistered hypercam 2, write on notepad and put sandstorm on the background

Is this made up, or did some retarded rich nobleman comission plate armor for his fucking cat?

I watch 10 minutes of Twitch if there's a game I'm half way interested in buying.

& if what you're buying ISN'T the flavor of the month? What then? I think people are getting tired of 30 year old boomers reviewing PS1 games from their youth, but there's got to be a way to make that work without being a fagot...right?

Attached: too old.jpg (1407x796, 213K)

it's made up

what do you think?

Every game I've ever wanted to see has had at least a stream with a nobody playing to no viewers.

I'm not interested in an actual review or cherry picked sections, just candid gameplay.

I used to make WoW pvp vids a couple years ago and a couple vids got like 5k+ views but most of them only got like 100 views at most and just made them for the fun of it.

Kind of want to make some comfy videos on the various autistic strategy games that I play now but I sound like a nasally nerd and for some reason my shitty mic sucks all the bass out of my voice making it exponentially worse, phone even records better. Probably will make them anyways, starting to forget how to talk due to my mentally ill hermit lifestyle.

Attached: 1375014560261.png (413x374, 199K)

When I make my letsplays I make a version with and without commentary.
I tend to enjoy playthroughs with commentary though.

I have a YouTube account to upload Smash clips and stuff to show to my friends and that's about it.
I like streaming for fun (not usually smash, just random games)
But right now I only stream to friends and people I know etc.

I'm autistic as fuck and can't speak much in person but I really enjoy talking while streaming. I wish I had the balls to put a public stream on but I don't think I'm entertaining personality-wise.

Attached: Screenshot_20190328-130158_Instagram.jpg (723x584, 178K)

Fuck it have my highest viewed video. Feel like I coulda gotten pretty decent subs if I didn't accept a full time position. Everything else is pretty much at double digit views.
youtube.com/watch?v=LHh_MLaPfKk

I made videos for boss strategies for a few games. My real passion was ytps, though.

I have 2. One is for personal use the other is for my website.

I have no idea what you're trying to say, so I guess the discussion has run its course.

You've got normalfag taste in games is what I'm saying.

How in the fuck did you pull that off? Good job man.

This retarded meme shit that's been all over the place.

Thing/person I like/me: "funny/witty/comment"

It's fucking retarded.

I have a channel focused on doing newcomer guides in video form.

>been a week since my last vid
>just finishing my script
>still need to record footage, edit it and record voice lines

I hate feeling so pressured

That's just the way kids talk these days. Zoom my words. Thinks are about to get worse than you ever thought possible.

Attached: resilar.png (1259x947, 2.89M)

Remember how kids i middle school would try to think of comebacks all the time?
This mentality spread to the internet and now everyone is trying to out-smug each other

I have a channel from a few years ago, it has a pretty incredible Gears of War clip that only has 60 views. Probably could have done a better job with the name and tags etc. but it's too late to do anything now.

my videogame related stuff only has like 10 views but some shitty meme video I made has almost 30k

not him but it's just luck. i've like 2 million views on stupid video with i don't remember 50 subscribers or something now.
something like that on another channels maybe overall on other videos. used to make shit for fun to link to friends. got bored years so fuck it.

Game Videos:
Anime Videos: 1 Mirrion Views

I got sick and tired of complete shit reviews, so instead of bitching I've decided to do it myself. I think my RE2 videos turned out well.

Video game esoterica
I love reviews of games I never heard about before.
The LPer/streamer I watch is Vinny because his streams can also be consumed as podcasts, he talks about stuff beside the game and what he's doing at the moment in the game.

Attached: 1538516800239.jpg (704x510, 32K)

I had a vidya-related video of mine get a million views in a week, and then another million over the next near-10 years. It's coming up on its 10th year anniversary since I uploaded it.

it blew up because Kotaku made an """article""" about it.

youtube.com/watch?v=SXWUaXTId3s

>Do you guys have a YouTube channel where you post videogame related stuff ?
Yes. I upload some vids mostly for myself or my friends, but strangers can also view it if they find value in it.
That is if youtube algorithm even lets people find it.
Since even when trying to search for my own stuff I need like 3-5 tries to find it.

Attached: hmmmmmm.gif (330x312, 1.28M)

I used to force myself on a schedule of three game reviews and one movie review per month. I was able to keep it going for quite a while, just a little over a year, but my day job got real damn busy and it's been fucking up my whole schedule. Honestly dude, just go at your own pace. If people like what you make then you'll gain traction. Don't be too concerned with feeling like you have to constantly put stuff out there. It helps to have a lot of content but don't let it stress you out either.

I've got a couple videos, mostly stupid bugs or memes or shit like that. I stream on it if I get into a closed beta that people want to see. None of my vids have more than 1000 views, most only have double digits, except for one I posted around when let it die came out back in 2016, showing off the way you didn't need ammo to use rage moves for ammo using weapons like guns or crossbows. That one's got like 300 views or something.

I never really felt a desire to make high quality super edited videos, or stream for a living or anything like that. I always hear people say "I'm already playing the game why not stream/record it?" and for me it's like "okay i'm playing the game, why set up that extra shit?" Trying my hand at streaming a few years ago was fun but the lack of growth made me realize it wasn't for me. I don't have the charm to keep people invested in the channel, nor the narcissism to talk to myself for hours on end if there's nobody to bounce off of.

>not playing patrician let the bodies hit the floor
plebs. at least make sure to correct every second word after making a typo like I do, or you'll never get big. I also hope you're using decent software like win XP movie maker

how in the fuck do you keep people's attention?

>reddit: the thread

You realise r/gaming is back up again, right op? You can go back

Don't drone, show some interesting visuals, background music will make people wanting to leave hesitate

That's because youtube favors videos that are already popular. That's fine, in theory, but then videos that are only tangentially related start popping up while my own stuff stays buried and impossible to find, even though I'm searching for that specific video. If I'm looking for "Resident Evil 2 Review" and I get a fucking timeline on the RE series or a Top 10 RE Bosses, then that's pretty fucking bullshit.

Alright history bros, I require information about this cat armor. I know you nerds love to ramble to anyone that is willing to lend you an ear so tell me everything interesting about this.

Attached: 1220324116397.jpg (800x800, 165K)

You don't. The only workaround is to make a video so short that they can't reasonably watch any of it without watching all of it, like those ads that are over before the "skip" button appears. That's about normal for a near 3 minute video

You've got low impact footage.
I won't ask you to shill your own shit cause someone will probably report you for it, but I imagine you've got sections of dead air or no music/talking in your video. Any dead air is bad. Get rid of it, cut it out. Also if your video is really long/slow paced it can be intimidating. There's a good reason the algorithm rewards ten minute videos.

Topical Videos: Every fucking week, or even every day
Evergreen Videos: Whenever the fuck you want

It's just that easy. Just make videos people are going to actually come back to. It's not hard. Embrace the pine cone my dude.

Attached: proxy.duckduckgo.com.jpg (650x866, 297K)

speaking of which
youtube.com/watch?v=2Y2xxZNIjng

I just use my channel hold onto footage from particularly good game nights with my bro.
I would love to do old style long plays but I have zero personality to support it.
Or time for that matter.

It's probably just an art piece.
I can't imagine a noble making a custom armor for his cat.

I made a video of a Yea Forums meme from like 2010. Its kind of annoying when the least effort gets the most views

I'm currently sixth for consoles on Speedrun.com. I'm sure I could do better if I tried but a lot of it depends on precision and luck. It really comes down to grinding attempts and hoping that a Licker completely misses you so you never even have to bother turning around to shot it, as well as hoping that everything else goes perfectly. At least it's not that long; I couldn't imagine speedrunning a full game.
youtu.be/8e7jU6b9XZQ

Attached: maxresdefault.jpg (500x313, 20K)

Vine was popular for a reason

I personally don't like speedrunning as it devolves into using RNG to get by, using glitches and other shit.
I do like fast paced runs. As in 100% consistent and reproducible, looks good and doesn't break immersion by avoiding all fights or glitching, and so on. You get the idea.
So fast and immersive that you can pull off 100% of the time, rather than absolute fastest no matter the cost.

>mfw managed to copyright claim my shitty meme someone stole
it wasn't even that good but fuck you for trying to pass the even shittier webm off as your own

Attached: 1523677826636.jpg (377x567, 19K)

I do that with all those "Yea Forums lol EPIC xD funny moments" channels that are reposts of ylyl threads on /wsg/. Copyright strike every single fucking one of them that has my meme in it, claim all the ad revenue. Usually they don't even appeal it.

I love watching speedruns, especially when they break the game in every possible way to just shave a couple of seconds off the total playtime.
I think I watched a Sonic Adventures speedrun and was just blown away with how well these people know how the levels are built up and can skip huge parts in one go, then just drop down from a random part of the level and boom it's cleared.
I'm having trouble just getting the hang of the controls again after I want to play through a game I've cleared only a year ago, nevermind being able to blast through a level like that.
Currently playing through Devil May Cry and although it's kicking my ass whenever it can it's still a lot of fun though.

I hear you; topical videos lose their appeal in the short term while evergreens last forever. I just feel like it helps to get a review out sooner rather than later since it's both topical now and it's out there for whenever people want to see it too, but I do believe that rushing too much will make the quality suffer.

I do but its really not much/not very good. used to try and make videos but editing is boring
I switch to streaming and have fun with it but set up always has issues and my normal work and class schedules just don't allow for proper stream time where i can be consistent enough to maybe gain a steady viewer base
It's a shame too because im a collectfag and i would really love to share my stuff there but collector youtube is kinda dead/not the same as 10 years ago, id love to stream a lot of the weird stuff i have too, not everyone owns a copy of Panzer Dragoon Saga to stream and more people deserve to at least see that game but i don't know how to build an audience

Eh, I used to not give much of a shit about speed running until I watched a coupled of those videos where they go over how the run was made shorter over the years.
Some speed runs are borderline witchcraft.

i have posted a bunch of gameplay videos. Some get thousands of views and some get 1 view, who knows why. Doing reviews can be fun and as no one is watching them i don't need to feel embarrassed. But it can be fun to create a review video after you have complete a game.

Preaching to the choir.

i have a channel where i'm uploading completely random stuff, one of my random videos has 150k views or something and people i met online flip their shit when they notice it. 2/3 of my videos are unlisted because it's some small contextual stuff i upload from time to time while talking with my friends

i always despised modern gaming reaction videos bullshit, but i'm not open about it. if someone enjoys making this kind of videos, good for him. i like Yea Forums formula though, small webms where you're anonymous and the only thing that matters is the content you provide in your webm. webm threads are nice.

who /don't actually give a shit about views and just want to make stuff/ here?
Even if I just get 10 people subbing I'm happy because 10 people thought my stuff was interesting.

>i have posted a bunch of gameplay videos. Some get thousands of views and some get 1 view, who knows why.
This might be related to tags (and perhaps some rng from youtubes side) I've got a single vid that has over a thousand views while most others are either in the double or single digits.

>who /don't actually give a shit about views and just want to make stuff/ here?
I'm literally this although it did help when I saw one vid explode with views for no reason at all though.

I agree, but you need to be careful with setting up arbitrary rules. When you say "doesn't break immersion by avoiding all fights" do you mean I'm not allowed to use the grapple hook to skip areas in Sekiro? I get what you mean but there's a reason why speedrunning usually has a very hands off approach to regulations. As long as you can do it yourself, without assistance from some kind of computer program, then anything goes and it's all about doing it the fastest. But yeah, anyway, I don't care for speedrunning all that much myself.

I think we're all like this. It'd be nice to get paid even a little bit from youtube, let alone make a comfortable living off of just playing video games, but that dream is obviously very unrealistic. Just having a couple of people say "Hey, I like what you did here. Good job." is plenty reward enough. I am very, very grateful for the small following that I have.

Hey, I set out the arbirtrary rules that feel best to me.
I like to see competent gameplay that looks good and not autistic.
When is full on speedrunning it's no longer about gameplay but something entirely else, it's about seeing how you can brake the game as much as possible and anything that make the illusion of that "game" is broken down to shave off seconds.
It's like the difference between watching sombody drive really well within the limits of the track, and somebody plowing through a house to reach the finish line faster. Both are entertaining, but I certainly lean towards one vs the other.

I refused to monetize my videos even though I had nearly a thousand subscribers and over a million views because the way Youtube worked at the time was your video wouldn't have ads on it unless it was monetized and I wasn't about to be one of those fags. What a long way it's fallen.

>ads on you tube
I genuinely forget this is a thing.
How the absolute fuck do people put up with them?

You can get demonetized for the smallest things nowadays and the revenue is nowhere near as much as it was before. People are pretty much just running to patreon to get paid since youtube by itself isn't feasible anymore

Ok

Here is a short webm from one of my Devil May Cry videos.
Seriously though, fuck Death Scissors.

Not him but how would you put the source of something that was made anonymously?, wouldn't it be enough to say that you weren't the guy who made the webm that somebody else did?.

I only upload FEH and use old FE characters to BTFO nu-FE trash

Attached: Screenshot_20190405-193932_YouTube.jpg (1080x1920, 836K)

That's the big problem with meme video is that in a lot of cases you can't pinpoint 100% who the original creator was.

So what should the person do to put the webm in the video without being claimed? Will that person still be fucked because there's no source of said webm?

I do, but i don't really upload anymore. I have a few Initial D bangers.

youtube.com/watch?v=eaUOKlWRX2c
youtube.com/watch?v=kfpE6lx4aPU
youtube.com/watch?v=11Czao1x9kc

Youtube isn't the best place for posting things you don't own 100% of the rights from unfortunately, anyone can put in a copyright claim for pretty much any particular part of the video or music and with no way to check it, youtube will in a lot of cases side with the person claiming copyright on your video.

don't really care because i'm not a bum trying to make a living by uploading recreational video game captures.

Trophies gave me a strange mindset to want to save game data on something more...intangible than a memory card. So I record ps2 and ps1 game footage to upload onto youtube of all the weird obscure shit I collect. There's no commentary. I don't care about views and it's not monetized. I always had a hard time looking up gameplay for bargain bin titles so i figured this would be nice.

Attached: 220px-Warriors_of_Might_and_Magic_Coverart.png (220x312, 160K)

I stream and have a youtube channel to upload playthroughs to, but so far, the yt is just 2 gameplay videos. I'm still just starting out and don't have a schedule or any planned game to do a full playthrough of. Just futzin around when I'm stoned. So far people only hang out cause I do an okay Peter Griffin.

What games are you planning to do, I've recently started myself and just got back into it after a while of not uploading anything.

>back with windows xp or 7
>simple but efficient movie maker program
>used to make a video or two every month
>suddenly an update or windows 10
>they changed movie maker to literal power point tier
Haven't made a video in years but haven't had enough of an urge to learn a different editor program.

It depends what kind of editing program you'd want but shotcut is pretty decent and free.
I just record gameplay and have OBS save an audio track with just the game audio and another track with the game audio turned down a bit and my microphone mixed in for commentary.
That way I can upload a version without commentary and a version with commentary by just removing a single audio track.
I never really enjoyed a lot of editing in video's myself.

Yeah, used to upload with windows movie maker as well to YT.

that sucks, that shitty youtube copyright system is fucked.

Well I upload all my content on youtube before I post it on here, because I saw that shit happen before. I don't mind if someone uses my memes, I really don't care, monetize it too, I've had people monetize that's great. As long as you're not just literally reuploading to try and monetize with my s hit without editing it/trying to steal money from people using other content you did nothing with.
But when it's some stupid compilations where they literally go to a /wsg/ thread and just splice together 20-30 webms and try to make money off it, I take that money, fuck those cunts.

Anyway, it's all about being first. ANYTHING you make that's a video, upload it to youtube. Always. Even if it's retarded. If someone uses it and tries to be a scumbag that throws out "compilation" videos, just fucking steal their money. Made at least $7,500 from it so far, just passive profit because they're so afraid of fighting my claim (that they very well may win, I have no lawyers) that they let me profit off of their splicing. fuck it makes me mad. I don't know how those cunts breathe.

Yeah it's shitty, it depends on how far you'd want to go but you can always upload vids that get removed from youtube to a website you run yourself as a form of backup so people can still enjoy them.
That's what I'm planning to do anyway.

>just fucking steal their money. Made at least $7,500 from it so far,
What the fuck is going on in this topic? This is why people don't post their youtube videos here anymore.

Attached: high.png (467x331, 54K)

I'm planning to do old and underappreciated gems. Arx Fatalis, Shadowman, Drakensang, etc.

Only have 2 vids that are short Devil May Cry memes and one of them is a voiceoverpete vid that I commissioned that has 50k views and the other has like 1k lol.

Unironically considering making a guide for REmake in the vain of the dipshit guide to Dark Souls. Wish me luck, anons!

I'm talking about people who make compilation videos and use my memes. I'm not going to let other people profit off of my work if they're not even using it in a transformative way.

>and use my memes
Memes are to be used & shared, that's what they exist for. You can't "own" a meme.

Attached: gobbler.png (784x645, 36K)

I agree. But when someone makes shitty meme compilations that are /wsg/ ylyl threads spliced together, and monetize it, I'm going to take the money if they're trying to profit off of my work by just reposting it. Nothing you could say would possibly change my mind on that. They're not doing it out of goodwill or they wouldn't dump 15 fucking ads on a 10 minute video.

Yeah pretty much the same here, but with old games I used to enjoy a lot. Currently playing through Devil May Cry and having a good time so far (even though I'm a huge shitter and cheese whenever I can), I'm suprised how much stuff I can still remember from when played it as a kid like all the hidden blue orbs.
I'm playing without a guide and using only what I can still remember from the game to guide me through it so it's been a little rough at parts.

Attached: Devil May Cry Nelo Angelo getting lactose intolerant from all this goddamn cheese.webm (640x360, 2.92M)

Indeed, I hate those people too.

He has his right to claim his content from lazy cunts, faggot. People can still post their stuff but post content that you have made without stealing others unless you have permission to use content from other people on your vids; that's the point of this topic.

i made this call of duty montage out of boredom and some other clip collections of quake champions

I have a video with over 285,000 views that's been posted on Yea Forums twice. Have you?

I'm tempted to try a playthrough of Daggerfall on the new DFUnity build, supposedly the main quest is playable now... still alpha, but you can run it with mods to add variation to the old flat countryside.

nope, most of my stuff is sub 100 views

I looked up my most popular video's url on fireden and it's been posted 7 times in 3 years not by me I swear. Fireden doesn't go back any further than that and the video was at its most popular in 2009.

What kind of vids do you guys enjoy the most when watching vidya related video's ?
I enjoy commentary video's and slightly longer video's myself (an hour is a decent length).

Well edited videos with lots of references and funny jokes are my favorite, regardless of length or game being played.

Depends. If I'm actually watching it, 10-15 minutes is usually my limit. If it's background noise, light commentary without a lot of screaming or volume shifts can go anywhere from 1h to 10h and I'll watch it all. Just finished watching a commentated speedrun of FFX which was pretty nice.

This is the idea I have when I make video's with any commentary.
I just try to speak calmly and not too loud trying to say something useful or interesting as I'm playing it.
Most of the vids I've made were pretty short so far with the longest being around 20 minutes I think.

Well I mean, it's obvious when you're trying to be quiet, like an ASMR retard or some shit. I don't mind people talking normally, laughing, or anything like that. But people who get HYPE AND START SC REAMING AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA just makes me click out. if your content isn't engaging enough for me to watch, don't make it so annoying I can't even use it as background noise, fuck.

>Check my youtube channel
>A single video uploaded twelve years ago
>3.5k views

More than I expected, actually.

Attached: 1537095763519.jpg (976x827, 111K)

Yeah I get what you mean, the commentary is of a normal volume and I try my best to keep it interesting when talking.
It's hard to talk when you know other people are going to listen to it though, that took me a while to get used to.

Our channel has few viewers but we still stream every Saturday. It's comfy and we get our funny moments on tape.

Comfy streams are the best, you really notice when people enjoy making vids and playing games and it makes it so much more fun to watch/listen.
It's probably the reason that gamegrumps is so popular since you can use the commentary as a form of podcast.

I make videos like youtube.com/watch?v=bvoTZ02tBQE but youtube is in the process of dismantling it's gaming section so i may switch to streaming myself taking bubble baths instead

Attached: itchy leg.gif (280x280, 1.57M)

>youtube is in the process of dismantling it's gaming section
?

He's retarded and thinks the end of youtube gaming means anything.
If you weren't aware, youtube gaming is basically getting the boot, because no one anywhere ever used it.

I don't think I've ever visited Youtube Gaming, was there any point to it at all with Twitch existing ?
Makes me wonder why Google just doesn't buy twitch.

I just upload clips 90% of the time, with 10% of the time being some other shit. Mic is shit so can't really do voice, and I'm still trying to figure out how I should go about doing videos without talking if I'm to go that route of "real" videos.

What even was Youtube Gaming beyond that thing at the bottom of the description that said what the game was?

a lazy attempt to take market share from twitch without any of the perks of twitch

Youtube gaming was it's own "version" of youtube that had night mode enabled by default, allowed you to subscribe to channels/sponsor before the membership was rolled out to the whole site (and they raised the reqs on it significantly), and also was the only way you could stream before they rolled out non-scheduled streams sitewide.
Basically everything youtube gaming did, they eventually put on the whole site and never put any new features on it to differentiate, so it's just youtube night mode now.

I've been using the share button thing on ps4 to upload vods.
youtu.be/S3bswhVVd8o

Just little moments in games I find particularly interesting or cool. Only get double digit views too. Nothing serious, just stuff I find interesting enough that I think others might find it interesting.

Attached: 1553754516771.webm (1280x720, 2.09M)

A better mic doesn't have to be very expensive, I think my high end rig only cost me around 200 bucks and that's with an XLR mix + mic arm + cable + preamp. You'd probably be able to get a better deal with black friday since we don't have that where I live.
A word of advice when getting an XLR mic and a pop filter, go for a foam one instead of a metal plate one that sits in front of the mic.

I've never used the share feature on the ps4.
I did do a test when recording the remote play thing in OBS and it works pretty well with supersampling enabled.

>w-why my channel doesn't grow? I make so much effort doing it!!, it's not faaaaiirr!!!!

Niggers, let me tell you some tips:

-Make short videos.
Nobody wants to watch a long ass video about your opinion on a video game. Make 3 to 7 minutes long vids (this works very well for those who are starting with their jewtoob channel), after some time, make longer videos since people already know what kind of content you make, if you want to of course.
>user but my dick gets erect every time i make my long videos, i dont want to stop making them!!
Okay, if you really like making that kind of long ass content, then do it why not?, but make it as side series on your channel, something that you would upload once or twice per month. Why this?, because people are not familiar with your content; just as simple as that. What people want is entertainment, funny and informative stuff, once they start to watch your short videos they'll start to familiarize eventually with your content to the point they'll may give it a try. If the time pass by and you still get low views rate, then there's something wrong with your content, like being boring as fuck.

-Make interesting names and thumbnails on your videos, not lame shit like "game x, part 4" with the game's cover as thumbnail.

-Be original.
Just don't try to copy others guys style, god that's pathetic.

Attached: hits.png (320x367, 217K)

-Make fun and interesting content
Everyone likes to laugh, user, try to make other people smile but don't try to turn aside the main idea of your video (ex: if you are talking about a game in general, focus more on that instead of making fun)
>are you implying i shouldn't make funny stuff?
No you cunt, you obviously can, but try not to make cringy stuff.

-Don't sit there waiting for views
Take advantage of this threads to shill your channel for example, comment on other people videos so that they may pick up your channel just out of curiosity and share your videos with friends (if you have).

-Criticism and feedback is fundamental
Read and pay attention what other anons say about your content, remember that this could increase your content's quality.

In short words, your content might not be for everyone but don't feel sad for it. You need people that like the stuff you like to make, not people that wants you to change your essence.

And last but not least, be fucking creative holy shit.

Cats are fucking disgusting disease factories

They can’t protect you from anything and can’t do anything, they’re literally a greater disease vector than the rats they kill.

It didn't touch the US, but it seriously crippled the east asian market's streaming sites. niconico got buttfucked and saw upwards of 70% viewership dips on nicolive following the release of streaming for the general public on youtube. It's gotten worse since. Afreeca (Korean twitch basically, but way older) also started seeing a dip in users, to a point they copied the twitch monetization systems with "cheers" and stuff. Hasn't really helped much, a lot of popular korean streamers moved over to twitch or youtube (mostly youtube so far, but twitch is expanding and marketing heavily in korea as of late, they bought out 10 of the top streamers in all of korea from mukbang to league to maplestory to wow. Pretty interesting topic honestly if you go looking for the info on how they're doing it).

Anyway, it's been an incredible success for youtube in every way except touching twitch. There was no way it was ever going to hurt twitch after the amazon buyout, though.

Oh and less relevant now since tencent backed panda tv, which is now shutting down too, youtube basically crushed a variety of chinese stream sites, including weibo streaming, wechat streaming (I know, redundant), and basically the only one left was pandaTV, which was a gaming stream site, you may have seen their sponsor patches on some esports teams recently. Yeah, they got fucked too, and they're shutting down soon, announced it in march. Because pretty much all their streamers moved to youtube. China blocking twitch was probably the biggest boon that youtube c ould have gotten.

Thanks for the tips user.
I try to split the video's into logical segments, currently this is easy for me when playing Devil May Cry since you can simply do 1 mission per video.
What would be a good way to split up something like Dark Souls when you have a segment before the boss and then a boss fight ?
Do you simply split the level before the boss into a seperate video and the bossfight into another ?
I'm worried that doing it this way would split video's really uneven as most of my time would be spent in the parts before the boss instead of on the boss itself.

Cats are good for squishing

I make shitpost videos for an anime gacha game I casually play. Surprisingly got a sizeable following from it with about 2-10k views on them.

It's pretty simple. Can't just insta upload though, unless you want to upload like 13 minutes of bullshit with the thing you actually wanted to show at the last 2 minutes. But trimming's pretty simple too. PS4's capture gallery works well enough.
And if you want to go all out and put different vids together and add custom music and shit, you can use share factory. I don't bother with that shit though.

Attached: 1554148684623.webm (480x360, 952K)

Amazon already did. Long time ago.

What happened to that guy who would go to cons & interview E-Celebs? He use to shill a lot & then disappeared.

I'm still looking for more small Youtubers to watch (under 100k at the absolute maximum), specifically game tech analysis channels (can't find a soul outside of DF, VG Tech, and NX Gamer)
>make videos that are 3 to 7 minutes long
I have no idea how people can make videos that are ten minutes long and have meaningful information throughout

Attached: 1532923928436.jpg (300x400, 22K)

Ah that makes a lot of sense.
I would have assumed that google would just buy up the shit that gives it any problems but with amazon owning it that might prove difficult.

I have a YouTube channel where I play games with my giant titties hanging out. sometimes i will need to get up no reason and my ass is hanging out too. if my followers sign up for my patreon i write their name on a piece of paper and hold it up to the camera while doing a kissing face.

What are the perks of Twitch? What's the difference between watching a stream on Youtube vs Twitch?

I was thinking of making one full of videogame facts

Except it's the most insufferable thing imaginable, like

GAMING FACT
WERE YOU AWARE THAT FAMOUS NINTENDO ICONS, MARIO AND LUIGI, ARE ACTUALLY BROTHERS

THAT'S RIGHT, DESPITE WHAT THEIR CONTRASTING APPEARANCES MIGHT HAVE YOU THINK, THEY ARE IN FACT BROTHERS, MARIO MARIO IS THE ELDEST, WHILE LUIGI MARIO IS THE YOUNGER OF THE TWO BRO-THERS.

And the rest are fake bullshit

GAMING FACT
DID YOU KNOW THAT DURING HIS TIME FIGHTING AGAINST THE HALO, MASTER CHIEF EARNED THE NICKNAME OF ARBITER FROM HIS CLOSE FRIEND, DR. HALSEY CORTANA

I would think youtube has a bigger audience, but people don't stream on youtube unless they're only established on that site. There aren't many people who do youtube videos who branch off & do twitch stuff. Mike Matei did pretty good for himself though.

amazon and google had a bidding war for twitch initially. Eventually twitch just sided with amazon because they felt they would be a better partner. I guess they weren't wrong. Merging twitch into youtube just would have made it get lost in the sea of shit probably.

You don't see these threads often because they're off topic garbage and they get pruned.

>Gaming videos aren't game related
What next, no talking about game magazines?

Attached: beeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee (1456x1869, 667K)

I think the more enjoyable gaming fact video's are the ones that make sense of convoluted lore and things that aren't very clearly explained when going through the game a single time. The Souls games are a good example of this since a lot of the time in my first playthrough I had not a clue who all these NPC's were and why they were important.
Clickbait video's are cancer though so don't get started with those.

talking about how to write articles for a gaming magazine would be off topic, yes.

Youtube:
>Recorded content with the option to stream live, usually harder to grow an audience.
>Much higher quality, lower latency content if you're live
>Better servers
>People can watch your content at any time very easily because it's a youtube video after you finish streaming
>Harder to monetize, less monetization options as you depend on sponsorships and very spotty ad revenue until you hit the checkmarks to apply for "membership" shit
Twitch:
>Livestreaming focused, videos can be put up, but the video player is absolute shite and no one watches videos anyway.
>Super easy to make money, you need 5 concurrent average viewers (all of which can be yourself since twitch allows up to 5 viewers from a single IP address) to reach affiliate, which gives you a sub button ($2.50 per sub point up to 10,000 subs where you get $3.00 instead) and the cheer system which lets people spend "bits" on you which is a 100% safe, non-chargebackable donation method.
>60 day withdrawal period for funds you earn, 45 when you become an official "partner" (purple checkmark)
>Much harder to grow and shill yourself because twitch literally doesn't recommend anyone who's not already massively popular, ever.
>Incredibly ban happy as of late, people get banned for "not moderating their chat harshly enough" E.G. if someone spams "FAGFAGFAG CUNT FAGFAG HOMO" in your chat, and you don't ban them, your entire channel can be shut down because you're "allowing your chat to become a breeding ground of disgusting ideology"

It depends largely on your base decision though: do you want to make videos you edit, or do you want to stream live? If the former, youtube, if the latter, twitch. Unless you're asian. If you're asian, youtube is always the way to go.

Did you know that Dankey Kang saved the Princess Zorldra from Spyro in Dark Souls 4: King's Field? The game was ahead of its time... it came out on the Sega Vectrex back in 19-dickety-6, when the kaiser had stolen all the 8's, forcing us to use dickety instead. I was wearing an onion on my belt, as was the fashion at the time, and wanted to join the war to get the 8's back from that rascal, the kaiser... but I heard about the Nintendostation One coming out so I went to Toys R Us to stand in line all night instead.

That sounds like a MEGA 64 Sketch. You gotta be subtle with your irony.

I like my irony so thick that black guys try to fuck it.

Don't underestimate a rich man's idiocy.

>Make 3 to 7 minutes long vids
BUT THE 10:30 MONETIZATION!

Nah, that's too obvious. It has to sound feasble to someone who plays videogames, but hasn't played THAT particular videogame; I think the Halo one could pass off as true to somebody who doesn't play or look much into Halo

Going less for irony and more into shitposting. My ideal comment section would be a mix of "this is so obvious" and "IMAGINE BEING SO DUMB YOU THINK YOU PLAY AS ZELDA, DISLIKED >:C"

It'd be better if you split the level before the boss fight into two seperate videos, with that you can intrigue people waiting for the boss fight. Also, people may search for specific stuff if they are stuck playing, because of that they may search for the level overall or just the boss fight. Don't worry about the time, just try to make your gameplay interesting, this way people won't care about the time you spend on it.

The more content you make, the more you know how to do it.

>start making videos about OSRS
>get very few views
>start shilling myself, get some viewers
>other youtubers start watching me
>up to like 2000-3000 views per video day 1
>that's enormous for me, i'm not even looking to profit, it's just an after work hobby for me
>start taking it more seriously, spending more time on videos
>People like them even less
>it feels awkward to put out work that feels half-assed
>start changing it up to making simple content about bossing with weird setups to see if it was possible
>explode into popularity
I don't get it sometimes.

youtube.com/watch?v=fh-A2oRLRO8

A true shitpost is impossible to tell apart from a retarded person. For Example;
"Needed a good handheld & just bought a switch, what games do you recommend?"
>Just because you can hold something in your hands doesn't make it a handheld

It's an art, & not many people have a good hold on it.

Attached: kek.png (1333x716, 1.07M)

Viewers are fickle and volatile, that's why people who are extremely famous are those who do what's most popular and liked

Yeah I think that is the best way to do it.
Im still incredibly new to all of this after getting back into it but I'm having a lot of fun.
OBS takes a lot of work out of my hands by already making an audio track where my microphone is properly mixed into the game audio track so that takes care of some work with manually mixing each track.

One dude I've been watching has video's just like that where he'll try and beat fallout 4 by using every weapon only once for example.
It's really interesting to see if something like that is even possible for people that enjoy those games.

I turn on public streams for my friends and if they wanna watch they can and if other people decide to come and watch I don't mind.

Too professional intimidates people, but too low effort also also fucks you over.

Look at splashwave. This shit is so overproduced you lose interest.
youtu.be/JIKuP6OffX4

Now Look at Larry. He's funny & much lower budget.
youtu.be/GzBhAUdz_jk

You want that middleground.

Well this is another importan thing.
If you are going to start with this jewtoob thing, do it because you like it, don't do it for the money you filthy jew. Also, make this stuff as a plan b; don't drop college or your job just because you are a cynical faggot.

Remember that things don't usually go as the way you expect it to be.

>No one:
>le someone: I bought le cat armor for 4k XD

Is this the next rage comics?

larry's a cunt though. I hate him because he shills himself on literally every channel he can find. His content is also super low quality, all the info is found by dj slopes (who's so unfunny it hurts), he's just a script reader. Also the editing is awful.

Honestly I don't feel I can afford the luxury of going at my own pace.
My first video was a hit with the fanbase of the game I was covering, and I want to keep the ball rolling. Taking my time with it makes me feel I'll miss my chance of making it big.

Attached: Abstract kind of feel.jpg (680x684, 41K)

and yet, over 300,000 subscribers. He must be doing SOMETHING right.

What if I just want to do regular, no nonsense video game reviews? Not much in the way of entertainment, so to speak; just information and opinions with minimal spoilers. Is there no market for that? Or is it too oversaturated?

Oh no I'm sure there's a market for him, I'm just saying I hate him.
Also the only vids of his that get any views are fatcunt. Not really a success, and those 300k subs probably don't give a shit about the rest of his content. It's like saying "cinemassacre has 3m subs they're doing something right!" but they barely get 3m views on all their non-avgn content throughout a year.

>I'm having a lot of fun
That's what this is all about, user, i'm glad you're enjoying it.
Good luck making your content tho. If you want to, try to share your stuff here and let's see how ̶b̶a̶d̶ well you play.

Attached: 1531850028400.jpg (480x360, 18K)

>you cant own a meme
Says who?

>you don't share my taste in games
>that makes you dumb lol
ok

I have a channel where I tried my hand at a few different things, looking at beta content, meme vids, etc and it never really panned out.

Speaking of YT, anyone got any extensions for Chrome that block a bunch of the big huge channels, political ones, and the autistic gamers?

Attached: the cigarette.png (802x727, 1.28M)

They are so bad people bothered to make an add on for them?

I only watch 3-7 minute long videos when I'm actively looking to kill time, which is very rarely. Most of when I use youtube is either a) background noise or b) something to fall asleep to. For both of these I prefer long videos, the longer the better.

I tend to watch competitive gaming streams because those are pretty long, but sometimes I will keep one dude's 20 minute video of him beating Megaman X or something if he's entertaining, or does something interesting with the game. Basically what I'm trying to say is there's a niche for everything.

I'm the shitter that's been posting the Devil May Cry webms (those were the only noteworthy portions in the playthrough so far though, since the rest has been pretty standard).
Maybe when I have some more variety in games I'll post my channel here.

I don't upload gameplay stuff, just shitposty meme stuff that I used to post on reddit. I haven't made anything in a bit but I'm feeling a creative itch that needs to be scratches. I'm working on video essays for a few things. Mainly just fleshing out ideas and see what comes out the best. I'm currently writing about >The Loss of Arcade Influence in Games
>Escapism and Why Video Games Have Such a Mass Appeal Over Things Like Board Games
>Acceleration in Camera Controls: Or Why a Mouse is Better Than a Stick
>How The Internet Changed Games.
>Lego Star Wars: A Game For Literally Everyone
Thoughts?

Attached: IMG_20190404_054126422.jpg (2592x1458, 573K)

Yeah, people make extensions for a lot of them. There's one specifically for HBomberguy actually.

Or when he played as a baby

I've only gotten 37 viewers on a Metal Slug 2 video, nvidia's recording was so shit that it only recorded a bit of the end, I had a good run with no deaths until Mission 4

Once I get a new PC I actually want to do those videos where someone records framerates, except it's more with a CRT Monitor and at 600p, 480p etc etc

post your youtube chanell

Attached: 1513519167094.jpg (320x221, 11K)

You're not wrong, but keep in mind that... I'll give you an example.
I was real small (still am, but anyway) until I made a guide for doing simple combos while Dragon Ball FighterZ was still in beta. That one video got me a few hundred subs alone and it was a massive boost for me. I never stopped making DBFZ content, and I soon made a review video on it sharing my thoughts and what not. I didn't lose those subs and, in fact, I'll keep getting new subs, even today, directly because of that one video. I'll check someone's channel when they subbed to me and either I'll notice that they liked my DBFZ guide, or that they have a ton of other DB videos liked. However, I never grew from there despite the fact that I kept doing reviews on a variety of games, which is what I really want to do. I kept those subs but they never interacted with me anymore.

Another example is that a buddy of mine also had a smaller channel, but it suddenly blew up when he made a lot of guides for Monster Hunter World. He went from a 200 to 20,000 subs over the course of a month or so. It was incredible. Yet, sadly, his many review videos don't get the same kind of traction and once he finished his weapon guides on MHW, most of the audience moved on. He didn't lose those subs or views, but the audience came, took what they wanted, and then left.

If you've blown up recently because of a specific video, then you can likely grow if you make videos related to that topic. Just keep in mind that once you run out of content, your audience might not move on to your more stable stuff. If that specific topic is what you love, then hey, you've struck gold. Otherwise, it's going to be a struggle and it'll feel like work to keep doing new videos. It depends on what you want to do.

Imagine trying to put this on a cat

Attached: 1477411371598.gif (675x670, 184K)

I made some shitty videos about glitches in games that got like 100 views. They removed all of my videos, not a trace anywhere

If you want to do it then go ahead, what matters here is how interesting you are and how well you make your stuff. What i would recommend to you is to slap some good music on your videos and use a good mic since you'll be talking for the whole video. Also, don't talk like if you're going to kill yourself, talk with emotion, you know what i mean.

arcade influence is the most interesting topic.
the board games v vidya topic is being explored by others right now, you'll get drowned out. Blame critical role for getting normalfaggots interested in D&D and board games again. They've totally fucked up regular board games as of late.
>acceleration in camera controls
is too complex a topic for the majority of people who play games on stick and have never experienced higher dpi to begin with.
>how the internet changed games
you'll get shit on and your video will turn into a flame war because "YOU'RE JUST A NERD WITH NO FRIENDS THAT'S WHY YOU DON'T LIKE GAMES NOW" and other retarded comments. avoid it as it's inflammatory. Unless that's what you're going for.
>lego star wars a game for everyone
a good video idea, very broad, everyone's played lego star wars at some point, i'm curious more about what you've got written for this one and the arcade influence topics.

youtube.com/channel/UCxsQ17403NKXShkS49AvU6g

I have an advantage in that the franchise I'm covering is pretty big. There's lots of content to cover from each game and enough games to cover to keep me busy for a while.

>a hit with the fanbase
>not even 500 views
??????
mate you got some people to click on a link, that's not a hit. A hit would be 10k+ views. Don't get in your head about it.

I don't have a lot of stuff worthwhile for the arcade influence, and I've scrapped most of it. Mainly just doing "research" by playing some arcade games and a lot of games around the arcade era. Basically till the late PSX era.
Here's a screenie of the lego script. I'm gonna scrap this too probably.

Also my idea for the internet script was to go on about how games became less social due to the internet. You're no longer discovering a game with your pals, it's more akin to someone telling you something they read online. And another point about how games really have to grab a player's attention and give instant gratification or else the player will just give up and find something else to do or play.

Attached: Screenshot_20190405-144239.png (1440x2560, 389K)

As long as you enjoy Persona and SMT a lot, then it won't be struggle to make those videos. In that case, yeah man, go for it. Should be awesome and I wish you luck.

Forgot to say, try to keep a touch with those subs.

Indeed, but what i tried to tell was to how to appeal to most masses and most people just prefer fun and short stuff. You're just like me, sometimes i watch short videos and sometimes i just want to watch long ass streams that are 9 hours or so.

Yes i do.
I still don't understand why people subscribing to me because of few vidya unrelated videos when 80% of content on my channel is shitpost gameplay capture.

I consider it a hit because it gained 300 views almost immediately after uploading it and I got a bunch of positive feedback. It's the first time I make a video like this so I consider that a hit at least personally.

Thanks, I've played this series for half a decade and I feel there are way too many people who struggle with getting into it and drop it out of frustration. I want to help curve that a bit by making these videos.

Attached: Y-You Too.jpg (482x415, 70K)

I’ve got a channel where I interviewed a recruiter about what to expect when and how to enter the game industry. Got very little attention but positive comments and I learned a good amount from doing the project.

Now Im working on this 90ish minute video about the physics and movement systems in a game. One of those longform analytic type videos. First 30 minutes are finished. I love the script writing part but editing usually feels like work. It’ll sting a bit when it gets barely any views but hopefully gamephysics autists like me will enjoy it.

I’d love to have a following and stuff but I can’t see making videos as anything other than a hobby.

I'm not shitting on you for it, it's good for you, I was just expecting a lot more. Don't freak out over 300 views, because the persona fan base is a hundred thousand people or so consistent video watchers. Even if you don't upload, it's not a big deal, you're not exposed to the large majority of that viewbase so they won't dismiss you if you take a break to work on something and figure out a flow.

How many subscribers would you consider having "made it" on youtube? 100,000? Could you make a living off it at 100K? Do subs even matter anymore?

Attached: hmm.png (549x515, 254K)

You've made it if you're having fun and making some extra beer money in my mind :)

what do you guys use for editing?

I tried openshot but holy shit
>freezes on moving a clip
>freezes on mousing over a clip
>if I delete the original video file it'll just tell me it's missing, and open back up the prompt to show it where the video file is
>I cannot escape this prompt
>I had to rename a file into the folder to get it to go away

Poorfag rig over here. Vegas & OBS. Occasionally OBS crashed my PC too.

Theres this thing called "planned interrupts", where you every 10 seconds do something that "resets" the viewers attention span and they keep watching. Why do you think people in videos suddenly zoom their face a little specially when they make a point and then return to normal? Its this interrupt thing

You act like history isn't full of funny shit like this.

>7300? subscribers, 100 videos
>1 video with over 1 million views, a few with 100,000 plus
>Start losing the hearing in my right ear 3 or 4 years ago
>Stop uploading videos because I wasn't happy with what I was making
>MCN finally let me go last month
>Adsense account gets suspended so even if I did start uploading again I wouldn't get a cent of revenue
I'd give anything to go back.

Attached: 1527546136624.jpg (750x750, 59K)

Just pirate premiere or Vegas. Unironically no sense in using a free editor when the paid ones cost just as much.

I know how to strike but not how to profit of other ppl uploads (my shit gets reuploaded all the time). How you do it?

You're right, I'm just pressuring myself over nothing.
I'll keep working, but stop stressing over it, thanks friend

Pirated Pro Premiere

PROTIP: If you can't be funny, at least be good. If you can't be good at least be informative.

I don't mind watching idiots dick around in a co-op game spouting nonsense and being shit at the game on a basic ass playthrough if they've got good banter and are funny. In this situation, the players are the entertainment and the game is sort of a backdrop. You feel like you'd watch more videos of them doing whatever, not even just game stuff. This is where 90% of "youtubers" want to be and unfortunately 99% of them just aren't funny or charismatic enough. If you're trying this make sure you get honest feedback from friends/family to let you know if you're being funny or not. You're gonna need some hard truths here.

If the first option doesn't work out for you, try to be good. In this scenario you shouldn't even need to be on camera or even speak, the gameplay should speak for itself. This is also a very hard niche to break into because there's tons of nerds out there who are probably better than you at any game you can think of. But if there is a game where you just know you're really good at, or maybe a competitive game where you can tell by the leaderboards/online scene that you're really good at, then there's your niche. You've got a built in audience of people who will watch you who want to get better, and people that will watch you because your skills are impressive.

Finally if you're not good, then be informative. Play the games and try to give out interesting tidbits about the development, or insight into how the programming works. This is kind of a slim market unless you go full clickbait "TOP TEN SECRETS OF GAMING"-tier, which is fine but there's plenty of competition there too. There's only so many Mario facts out there that people wouldn't have heard a million times before.

subs don't matter anymore. Youtube has perfected their algorithm to a point where you can never sub to a channel and still get the new vids recommended to you when they come out. So people don't sub anymore because of it. Subbing also doesn't work because even when you sub, it still uses the algorithm to present the most profitable videos to you as opposed to the most recent ones.

Making it means sponsors start approaching you (or you approach them and they accept you). You can get that anywhere from 500 subs to 50,000 to start. I started getting approached by dollar shave club around 30,000 subs because I had a vid blow up to 1m views. I'm not in the gaming sector though so it may be different.

>This is kind of a slim market unless you go full clickbait "TOP TEN SECRETS OF GAMING"-tier, which is fine but there's plenty of competition there too

Doing clickbait would profit you but this is just hitting a new low desu.

Try shotcut since it's free

If you want to hit it big, then there's no low too low. As long as it gets you attention then that should be priority. I also use that as an excuse for why I'll never get big. No clickbait. No "Hey, it's your boy!" No overreactions. If you want a larger audience, then that's how you avoid it. I don't want to avoid it but it is what it is.

It's have principles or make bank, if you want both it's gonna take a bunch more effort

share your channel bro, I like youtubers with your mindset

I dunno mate, i'd feel ashamed of myself if i'd do that sort of shit. I rather have a small community of good boys instead of a retarded one who falls into those memes.

>I'd feel ashamed of myself
until you're literally able to scrooge mcduck dive into a pool of fucking money.

That's because you're humble, as am I, and as are most people here. You're happy and grateful for what you have, and that's cool. It's not going to help you get big but it will keep you satisfied in life, and I think that's a bit more important.

Well, yeah, I'm sure we'd all sell ourselves to make $10,000+ a month doing stupid shit on youtube. You could comfortably retire in half the time than you could with a traditional job. That's not the point though; he's talking about actively making clickbait videos as part of the road to getting there but with no guarantee that you'll make it. If someone directly paid me to do that shit then I'd likely go for it, but most people wouldn't do it just for the views.

I wonder who's behind this post?

Yeah it's kind of shit that you don't have enough money to buy what you want but at least you know how to enjoy the little things that life brings upon you.

>he's talking about actively making clickbait videos as part of the road to getting there but with no guarantee that you'll make it
What I meant is that i wouldn't do clickbait videos whether I do money or nothing at all.

I have a crappy channel where I just dump stuff like F-zero X tracks and Mario Maker levels, software rendering projects and the matches from the smash bros tournaments at work.
