I think Metroid: other M wasn't as bad as most people said it was. The gameplay was alright. Samus getting a narrative storyline wasn't really the problem. The real fuck up of the game was the gravity suit.

That is what you should tell kids, particularly boys. Any kind of artistic pursuit is an insane gamble where your chance of success is less than 1% and talent doesn't even come into calculating it. If you try to dedicate your life to it, you will most probably die alone, penniless, and broken. You should go to school, and you should pick up a good career, letting your cartoons and shit stay as a sideline hobby. Only if you're willing to put absolutely everything on the line, alongside your life itself, then you should pursue purely artistic career, and with a conviction like that you wouldn't need encouragement to begin with.

Samus has emotions all the time. In the Prime games, she expresses emotions like anger, frustration, triumph, regret and mourning but it's all very understated because that's just who she is.

I would've loved a game that was dedicated to exploring Samus as a person and telling us about her life and her personality and all the trauma she's endured and how she deals with it, but Other M was just insulting.
