So I installed the Epic Launcher and the Chinese haven't started stealing my information or money?
I don't get it, I thought Epic was a Chinese botnet?
Why isn't anything happening?

They keep sending me offers to buy shitty games from epic store based on what i played on steam. Dont worry they are collecting information about you
send winnie my greetings
Who's Winnie?
And why isn't anything happening? I thought the Epic Launcher was meant to be bad but it just seems to be a store with games and some other stuff.
Where's the bad stuff?
Nigga did you expect some dude in a balaclava to punch you in the face and start mashing on your keyboard?
So you were probably expecting a big pop-up warning stating:
>Hello, we are now hoovering up all your data, please do not interfere. Your cooperation is appreciated.
Or some such? Just guessing, from the level of your post.
That's what Yea Forums said would happen.
>Those tweets
>Hes lates tweets and retweets
What a cringy fucking guy, I feel bad for his family.
They'll start to collect data, profile the fuck out of you. Assign you a hostility index. Build up a network of known associates and prior or current romantic entanglements and interests. Search and collate for any criminal behavior, sexual preferences and degeneracies, post history, mentions of and views on China, the communist party, communism, corruption, triads, Tibet, Hong Kong, Taiwan, America, democracy, renewable energy, climate change, women's rights, religion and religious views if any, political leanings etc. Your favorite books, films, music, videogames, sports, hobbies. Your medical history and any medication you used or are using. Combine with credit history. Your laptop(s), smartphone IMEI and its Unique ID and of any and all devices you use, collated with existing profiles they have of those devices thanks to some compromised "free" app you installed. Algorithmically manipulate and manage your views to either fall in line with the Chinese government or something else they can use you or your friends or family for. Inspire and inject you with certain emotions so as to make you pliable and prime you for something just barely perceptible to even the trained eye. The possibilities are endless, it's the trade-off of living in a semi-virtual world where Beijing is just a small fraction of a second more distantly removed than your nearest hospital.
I'm just going by what's already being done, see link below, none of this is outlandish or in any way far-fetched. People have forgotten somehow, but it wasn't long ago anyone believing mass surveillance even existed was deemed a crackpot, then the truth came out and it was far worse than anyone could have possibly imagined. It would be prudent in this case to assume the worst and go from there, rather than assume the best. Because you will likely regret it later on.
No really, what bad stuff is going to happen?
>Assign you a hostility index
CAUSE I FEEEEEEEEEEEEL
see and maybe your fucking head, that's what it's there for no?
Could you like me to where this has happened to other Epic users? It's been out for 5 years now, surely there are lots of cases.
*use your fucking head
Epic isn't a chinese company though, it's an american company.
they already have it
Sure thing f@m, one sec I'll just backtrace the telemetry to the Ministry of State Security servers where it ends up, upload the whole spreadsheet hardcopy to a secure encrypted thumbdrive and PM you the fix, shouldn't take long.
>the Chinese haven't started stealing my information or money
Would they tell you?
If a robber steals your credit card, is he going to inform you about it? What a silly question
>no Sekiro
>no DMCV
>no RE2
>no Ace Combat 7
Does EPIC hate Japanese games?
Watch as your cpu goes up to 60% usage...
So you don't have any evidence of it happening?
It's not hard to tell if someone is stealing your money user, perhaps ask your mom to explain how bank accounts work to you.
What wrote probably isn't far off, but you're pulling your best tl;dr shtick because you're shitposting or are an actual shill. On the off chance that's not the case, tell you what, when the consequences become apparent, don't come crying and say we didn't warn you.
>he doesnt know
the samurai hate the chinaman and chinaman hate the samurai too.
So you don't have any evidence of it happening?
What qualifications and experience do you have in the matter?
But XBONE and STEAM are American and still have most of the popular games from the Japanese studios.
Even the Nintendo consoles don't get as many ports as they do these days even if they that company is Japanese.
Don't interrupt me when I'm hacking into the Ministry of State Security user, this is complex stuff here.
excellent bait thread. the tone is perfect
>we don't do this thing you're accusing us of!
>we maybe do this thing RIGHT NOW, but we're making an update that maybe won't do this in the future, geez lay off already!
>and prior or current romantic entanglements and interests.
do people actually like steam? isn't the only reason we use it is because it has games we want to play and the occasional sale
So I'm halfway through killing their octagon-tier adaptive layer firewall vibranium defense barriers and since I'm currently waiting for my new code to compile I thought I'd share this with you in the meantime:
theatlantic.com
>China’s evolving algorithmic surveillance system will rely on the security organs of the communist party-state to filter, collect, and analyze staggering volumes of data flowing across the internet. Justifying controls in the name of national security and social stability, China originally planned to develop what it called a “Golden Shield” surveillance system allowing easy access to local, national, and regional records on each citizen.[...] Now, the Communist Party of China is finally building the extensive, multilevel data-gathering system it has dreamed of for decades.
>While the Chinese government has long scrutinized individual citizens for evidence of disloyalty to the regime, only now is it beginning to develop comprehensive, constantly updated, and granular records on each citizen’s political persuasions, comments, associations, and even consumer habits. The new social credit system under development will consolidate reams of records from private companies and government bureaucracies into a single “citizen score” for each Chinese citizen. In its comprehensive 2014 planning outline, the CCP explains a goal of “keep[ing] trust and constraints against breaking trust.” While the system is voluntary for now, it will be mandatory by 2020. Already, 100,000 Chinese citizens have posted on social media about high scores on a “Sesame Credit” app operated by Alibaba, in a private-sector precursor to the proposed government system. The massive e-commerce conglomerate claims its app is only tracking users’ financial and credit behavior, but promises to offer a “holistic rating of character.”
>webm
you could easily sit a person on a chair and make him do the same thing.
Now that it's automated suddenly it's a problem, "omg muh privacy"
I sincerely hope you never made a Winnie the Pooh or any other inharmonious joke user.
You have no money and they already have your mom's credit card from a lonely housewife forum.
Thanks for the information user.
Do you have anything regarding Epic though as that's what i'm looking for.

This. Zoomers are too stupid to realize privacy (or lack of it) is the biggest problem in the modern era. Willing giving all of your information over to a Chinese company that ALREADY PUTS SPYWARE ON YOUR COMPUTER THE MOMENT YOU DOWNLOAD IT TO SCAN WHAT STEAM GAMES YOU HAVE is retarded.
careful OP, mods are deleting steamseethe threads now.
steam is shaping up to become the new nintendo of Yea Forums
I hate Epic Store
I love Israel
>tfw Yang is or was proposing a similar social credit system in the US
>As individuals rack up DSCs, they would have both a permanent balance they’ve earned over their lifetime and a current balance. They could cash the points in for experiences, purchases with participating vendors, support for causes, and transfer points to others for special occasions. As their permanent balance gets higher, they might qualify for various perks like throwing a pitch at a local ballgame, an audience with their local Congressperson or meeting their state’s most civic-minded athlete or celebrity.
I hate soulless, unethical evil chink insectoids
Lol my boomer parents believe this anti Russia propaganda nonsense

>implying human observers could simultaneously track and analyze entire streets and crowds
I hope for your sake you're joking.
>have $1400~ gaming "PC"
>don't have Epic or Steam
>play OSRS and looking forward to classic WoW
haha...
I know it’s been going on here for years now, but I still find it crazy how companies shill here. Fucking Yea Forums of all places.
What games you have, your playtime and activity, oh and also your friends list so they can couple it with their data that they are or also will be stealing. And I'm willing to bet a *whole* bunch of other stuff too, I mean what's the harm in Epic scanning your browser for your advertising identifiers too.
*uncontrollable urge to please my masters intensifies*
Shit, might as well just have a peek at your browsing history. I mean, while we're at it, just casually glance over your financials to see what type of customer spending power we're dealing with here. Actually, you know what, fuck it, let's just take the works and we'll sort out what's useful later. After all you did agree to a truly Epic EULA.
