Probably not. Sakura Wars is far more focused on the dating sim side than Persona. Western reviewers will probably be shocked when they get a game that is like 75% interacting with the characters and the other 25% is the SRPG.

Depends on how much you mind not 100% understanding the entire plot. I played through all four with just rudimentary Japanese understanding and it was still an entertaining time despite the fact that, whenever they went to not speaking the on-screen dialogue and putting up all the kanji as exposition, I just went with estimated guesses. Luckily, a lot of scenes are fully-voiced (except for your character) and that makes it somewhat easier to infer meaning. And once you get enough experience with the battle parts, you eventually figure out what each button does even if you don't know how to read the kanji on them.

They're not complete translations since not every route is completed.

And while the gamefaqs guides outside of 3 do not cover everything, most of them cover obligatory dialogue and the interface, so you can supplement what you are missing

Harlem in sakura wars is amazing in regards to how it portrayed blacks. There's three places to go: a blues bar, a catholic church, and a dark alleyway that leads to a basketball court, the nun always talks about soul food and, no memes, everyone seems to be in a fucking gang, even the nun and lawyer chick that's doing the mech shit with you.
It's shown through a childish lens though, so they end up being the most endearing gangsters on earth that just want to help the community. It's racist but in an incredibly cute and innocent way only a foreigner could manage. I love it.

That was interesting. I'm hoping the new one works out because everyone involved in it seems to be putting everything they can into it. I guess this is the final shot for the franchise and if New Sakura Wars flops then the franchise is truly done.
