Can the Thing even assimilate hollows? Fire kills it, just build some pyromancy. You don't trust anyone and kill everything you come into contact with anyway so don't need to worry about who is taken over and who isn't.

I remeber it fondly. Looking back, my only complaint is all the companions turn at scripted points, making the blood test item useless besides using it on yourself to boost their trust
