It really did.
The weapons looked so so cool in spite of the graphical limitations and the characters looked unique.

You can always hop in a private server,I will recommend Ephinea since it's probably the closest you will get to the official server except better

Nothing has ever matched these designs for me. PSO blue burst is the pinnacle of PSO spinoffs and art. CASTs all fit a certain niche, Hunters and rangers all had a design for everybody depending on what you liked. And Forces all had really outlandish designs. It was a different time.

I like how on PSO you can tell what class joins your party just by looking at them.
I kinda miss that on PSU since you can look whatever you liked no matter what class you are playing.

And yet PSU has far more in common both gameplay wise and aesthetic-wise with PSO1 than PSO2 does.
No one can give me a rational reason as to why PSU:O isn't good other than "It's not LITERALLY PSO1", and even that reason falls apart given the fact that you can play through Ragol areas in a certain online mission.

PSO2 has a team room that is basically it, with all the old textures and everything.

It feels weird being there, knowing what those iconic cities, lobbies, and whathaveyou mean for the people who actually played those games.

It's also smoother to control.
A big problem with PSO is that it's so stiff, PSU:O is the same gameplay style but far more fluid.

PSO it's a bit weird at first but once you get used to it eventually.
You can't expect much with a game that was made around the Dreamcast controller and of course that PSU and PSO2 controls much better.

Yeah, i'm not shitting on PSO for its controls, i'm just pointing out that's another way that PSU improves upon the same gameplay.

Way smoother. The first person is nice for guns. Forces and technics are viable weapons finally. Acrotechers can be pure support and masterforces can be pure damage. Rangers have tons of utility just like pso. Hunters get even more options to fun weapons. Psu > pso
