who is this khmerian thug
Based nigger
*reinstalls bg2*
Yoshi wasn't even good compared to all the other options. Who actually kept him in the party long enough to get backstabbed?
Beamdog is a guilty of a number of different crimes. Here are the major ones.
1. The Enhanced Editions are essentially a collection of free mods that had existed for nearly twenty years. Beamdog gathered them all up, slapped "Enhanced Edition" on it and resold it as a new product. There's very very little in the Enhanced Editions that wasn't already out there, and most of it is stuff you don't want (like obnoxious character outlines).
2. The games didn't sell so well and the originals were still far outselling them, even twenty years after their release, so Beamdog had EVERY digital distributor stop selling the originals and ONLY sell the Enhanced Edition. If you want to buy a digital copy of the originals now, they're "bundled" into the Enhanced Edition. Now these scumbags can claim sales from people just wanting to buy the originals as their own.
3. The infamous 600+ bugs on launch. The game is still riddled with bugs (as even a perfunctory glance over their forums show) but the fact that it took nearly two years for them to get a game that had been working fine for 20 years to reach playability after launch is telling of their wild incompetence.
4. This is where we get to the ones that really piss people off. Beamdog couldn't just remaster the game, they had to fuck with the content too. New dialogue for existing NPCs like Jaheira, Viconia, Safana, Kivan, et cetera was written in to make the characters more progressive and leftist friendly. Beamdog shills will argue that "adding content isn't changing content XDDD" but it is when the new content changes the core personalities of the existing characters. This is in addition to adding a slew of their own LGBT (hitherto there were none in Baldur's Gate) NPCs, all flooded with OP attributes and magic items to encourage people to play them despite their cancer.
5. Siege of motherfucking Dragonspear.
He was my go to thief until you got Imoen back.
based beambot
Name a better thief
Jan.
It's a huge shame.
They even put a lesbian negro woman in.
It's distilled tokenism that's completely absurd.
CHARNAME or the virile halfling specimen Jan Jansen
Ebin random chaotic neutral Jan
any wizard with a knock spell
Seems like a trustworthy fellow.
I don't even want to play them. They aged poorly graphics wise, the story was the only selling point. Then beamdog came in and shit all over it and smeared the shit into the proverbial mouth, nostrils and eyes of the game. And not just regular shit, but viscous black diarrhea full of pus and aids.
It's not enough to kill a franchise these days, you apparently have to sodomize it and piss on the corpse as well.
nope, i never let this faggot weeaboo join my party lmao.
>mfw i just installed a ton of mods + unfinished business
>mfw i have shadow keeper
>mfw i'm about to start a brand new game in BG2
>mfw i'm gonna change a lot of NPCs classes around
>mfw i'll get to enjoy a surprisingly fresh experience nearly 20 years after this game came out
>mfw i'm talking about the original collector's edition and have never played this "enhanced" edition horse shit
can't wait for my dnd waifu viconia to tear shit up as a berserker and whatever the fuck else i'm gonna change.
jan was a gnome ya dumb shit retard.
Seems like a lot of work.
I'd rather just play Neverwinter Nights.
it's extremely simple and customizing the hell out of an RPG is the entire point you fucking nerd
I still can't believe how awful the vanilla NWN campaign was. Did nobody on the team manage to realize it was complete ass, somehow?
Remember. Always bring him with you before heading on the boat. Then take his heart to the promenade temple for an easy 100,000 exp.
Bioware was never good
That vampire nigress with DSL?
I wish we could keep Yoshimo, Imoen a shit.
I mean, both the expansion campaigns were massive improvements, even if they still aren't quite masterpieces or anything.
The vanilla campaign is just painfully dull. Genuinely what were they thinking, especially with the fucking braindead opening sections?
Nobody plays NWN for the vanilla campaigns though.
*cucks you*
have sex
>romancing aerie
Why would you do that to yourself?
I like Yoshimo as a character, but as a party member he's useless. Bounty Hunter special snares are shit, and the trade-off of lost Thief points isn't worth it.
Jan was a mage first and a thief second. He wasn't even very good as a thief.
I think she's cute. Your other options are Jaheira and Viconia, who are both obnoxious in their own ways.
Jaheira has the best quests with magic items, Elminster and tons of fights. Viconia is the most personally rewarding since you can actually change her alignment. Aerie is just avoiding sex with her the first time she offers, listening to her complain for awhile, accepting the second time and then waiting for ToB when she announces she's pregnant.
>he'll outright demand you fight over her
>If you agree to do so Aerie will call you both retards and drop both of your asses
>If you tell him to stop being a retard Aerie goes for you and he leaves with the shit you gave him
I'm gonna play this soon, what's the best portrait and how viable is playing a sword and board tank?
Because she's best girl.
Doing the second always felt good.
So in other words Aerie is flat out the best. The only choice that results in offspring and a happy family life.
the original gog release of bgee and bg2ee are the only good ones, it's before they changed all the texture filtering and sprites and shit, and before siege expac, and before they made the menus all ugly and added throne of bhaal difficulty or whatever the fuck dumb shit. it can be a pain to get mods working though since you do need to find older releases of for example SCS, to get it to install properly with the older bgee version
I thought you could fuck her the first time.
>oh look cute girl
>doesn't talk much, perfect
>i'll do her quest!
>fucking jebaited i'm an amazon women now and you are my manservant
>fucking beamdog
i always take viconia even in good parties. idk why she is just awesome. i don't even really read the interparty dialogue or do the romances, i just like her voice lines and look
Maybe you just like the idea of making her good with the power of dick.
>Aerie is just avoiding sex with her the first time she offers
You are confusing this with Viconia.
Alright, let's go Imoen.
Viconia + Edwin + Jan combo has the best banter
Nah, you avoid the second sex offer with Viconia and swap it out for cuddling to continue the romance.
>the bhaalspawn isn't a cute half-orc female
I could have sworn you could fuck her the first time but still continue the romance.
>the power of dick
It's not the power of dick that makes her good, but compassion that utterly confuses and disarms her, when she offers to sleep with you to destress and you instead wrap a blanket around her and hold her close.
he's gonna betray me eventually, isn't he
Not willingly, he got Lelouch'd into it.
He's the best thief in the game, who else are you gonna use?
>yoshimo leaves and was pretty shit even before that
>Nalia is only level 4 so her thief skills aren't high enough to use as the party trap disarmer/lock picker
>imoen is missing for a big chunk of the game
>Hexxat is a beamdog npc
His only real weakness jan has as a thief is his shitty strength and you get so many strength boosting items that its irrelevant.
If you take Jan because he's a mage then you're a dumbass. That's just a bonus, and being a multiclass he doesn't learn level 9 spells until the very end of ToB. As explained here he's basically the only option for a thief.
There aren't any sword/shield builds because the proficiency is useless in comparison to the dual-wielding proficiency. You can just swap your offhand for a shield when you need to. Any fighter with high dex and con is equally useful as a tank, but berserkers also get very useful immunity to crowd control effects via enrage.
>They aged poorly graphics wise
Pleb
A thief is a y/n thing.
Either they can open the locks and disarm the traps or they can't.
Jan can do that.
>If you agree to do so Aerie will call you both retards and drop both of your asses
I haven't done it, but I read the logs and it said if you agree to the fight Aerie intervenes by saying that she loves haer'dhalis, and then they continue to date until she realizes he's a bad man.
I salute you sir.
Does the aerie theme sound jrpgy to anyone else?
youtube.com
>i always take viconia even in good parties
Same
god bless you
I just wanna play a faerûn mod of ck2 that lets me pick up after the end of ToB as the bhaalspawn, carve out a kingdom and impregnate viconia dozens of times while stocking up on various antidotes.
Is it? Maybe I remember it wrong, I thought she called you both idiots and dropped both of your asses.
Best age.
>beampasta guy having his post deleted
What the fuck?
That even looks like a cock from the thumbnail.
Jannies fear the truth
I like her and wanted to take her. But the bearded badass Keldorn despises her...so had to wage that party composition carefully.
>not using npc's never leave/fight mod
>mullet
I should have noticed it earlier.
Probably some beamdog ally. They defend the company in every site possible.
Dark Souls is easy
based and redpilled
compared to real games, yeah
Haer'Dalis is so based that he fucks worst girl so you don't have to. What a bro.
How can one frog be so based?
Nice Kenshi squad. I'm in Mongrel trying to set up a outpost but I don't know if Leviathan coast is a good idea, considering how isolated you'd be.
>Giving him cursed item before the betrayal.
I had always dual him to fighter with talents in spears
Nothing wrong with him, you need a slot free for when you meet Imoen anyway.
Currently replaying with
>Blackguard PC

>Haer'dalis
And it is so goood
They were thinking "We don't really give a shit about this campaign honestly, this is basically just a demo of our module making tool for players". Then they made an actual campaign in SoU and HotU. And in NWN2 they made actual campaigns from the start (even if the OC has a really cliche story).
Last I played it, she called you both idiots. I mean, she spends the entire conversation going "NO DON'T FUCKING FIGHT" and when Haer'Dalis is the first one to draw sword she goes "YOU. STUPID. RETARD.".
>he'll out right demand you fight over her
>okay fag
>load state
>remove items
>remove from party
>wait right there bud
>hey anomen can you rape this guy for me?
I don't think he even fights you in the end, he just gets salty Aerie picked you over him and leaves.
>still no Aribeth mod
Aerie is objectively the best girl by any standard. Viconia is a used up cumrag of peasant farmers and Drow boytoys, and Jaheira is an old hag widow whose taste in men is such dogshit she picked out Khalid as her first husband. Both are broken down whores, Viconia straight up dies to her bitch goddess in her ending and Jaheira never even has children with you since she prioritizes her Harper career over having a family.
VS Aerie, a bonafide young virgin who bears your children and ends the game as a loving wife and strong mother. Fuck outta here if you picked anything but her, faggot.
>Viconia is a used up cumrag of peasant farmers and Drow boytoys
You forgot fat merchants.
>Jaheira is an old hag widow whose taste in men is such dogshit she picked out Khalid as her first husband
this is true, khalid is like kaiden from mass effect, we're supposed to believe he got jahiera to fall in love? pshh
Why are game character that are based on porn stars always so good?
>In the dialogue have Aerie choose between you and the bastard. Otherwise she will choose him and tell you the news.
lul, she's so close to abandoning you for the tiefling
That's just there under the surface even if you make her specifically choose.
At least the first kid will be yours.
eyes are way more slanted, has a cute mole, more feminine jawline. they actually made her even better. if only RE2 claire had that happen to her
>party starts doing really well
>that one guy everyone hated but didn’t say anything about gets mad over something and leaves, making everyone happier
We’re all gonna make it brahs.
Jaheira is apparently 21 during the first baldurs gate.
Also Khalid has good stats.
Edwina>Viconia>Jaheira>Aerie
Viconia>Aerie>Mazzy>Jaheira>Nalia>Edwina
>Didnt do the trap exploit until Bioware patched it
P L E B
then she truly is a mommy gf
>Jaheira is apparently 21 during the first baldurs gate.
Fucking bullshit. She doesn't look any younger than at least 35. And a busted 35 at that. And that's before we assume she's got the same lifespan as a human despite being half elf, which I'm 99% sure is not the case.
you forget that she is a half-elf, she's most likely 30+
Is it just me or are Human or HalfElf the only logical choices for CHARNAME?
>Dorf and elf too fucking immature
>Halfling? gnome? Top kek
>HalfOrc - gross
"Age: Half-elves mature at the same rate humans do and reach Adulthood around the age of 20. They live much longer than humans, however, often exceeding 180 years."
jaheira looks over 30 in her pic, but imoen looks like 25 and she's meant to be underage i think so whatever, the artists screwed up
any race common to the sword coast works fine, since you're just a random orphan that gorion brings in
Gnomes are based, shut your mouth.
isn't 20 too young for elves and dwarves?
Yeah, but ToB establishes that you and Sarevok were born at the same time. So its just weird.
ah yeah i guess, dwarves mature at 50 and elves "Becoming physically mature by the age of 25 and emotionally mature at around 125" so maaaybe a young elf at 20. you do get fast tracked to maturity by all the trials and tribulations, that's kind of the point of early bg1, you're thrust out into the world too early, fend for yourself
That's because the art for Baldur's Gate and a lot of other early CRPGs is fucking shit.
No I read specifically that she was 21
...Baldur's Gate is not an early crpg, rpgs have existed since the 80s, dumbass
also you shut your fucking mouth, you got shit taste
the art in bg2 was shit
where
Human, Half-Elf, Elf and Halfling are all alright.
Elf not really though, since they can't romance viconia.
internet
>Baldur's Gate is not an early crpg, rpgs have existed since the 80s, dumbass
You know what I fucking meant you retarded nostalgiafag.
it was probably bullshit
you're a retard
ultima 4 is an early rpg, Baldur's Gate came 14 years after it
"Abdel is the protagonist of the Baldur's Gate novels. In the general canon of the Forgotten Realms he is described as being 7 feet/ 2.13m tall, having long, ink-black hair and dark eyes, unlike his in-game portrait. He was born in 1343 DR, which would make him 25 years old at the beginning of the games.
He grew to become over a century old and became one of the Grand Dukes of Baldur's Gate in his later years. He died at the age of 136."
from the wiki so idk where this info is from, i assume it's all from the novels. i did read the bg2 novel at some point, abdel and jaheira are the canon romance in that
Kill yourself.
the novels are dogshit
>wahh stop calling me out for being a dumbass zoomer with shit taste
keep seething zoomie
Fuck you, Khalid was a bro.
big if true. i really don't remember much about it
>She doesn't look any younger than at least 35. And a busted 35 at that.
>seething
I don't think you know what that word means
Based off context information she provides, she is likely around 40 years old. Why puts her at like 20-25 in human years. Also, aerie is older than her.
but you're displaying that massive seethe right now user, otherwise you wouldn't have replied
The novels are ironically quite possibly the worst FR books.
..And you are?
>but imoen looks like 25 and she's meant to be underage
She was added literally in the last moment as a good aligned starting thief, so her portrait was an afterthought.
...I replied with objective facts and the last 5 of your posts are showing your asshurt caused by unknown reasons, probably a severe case of faggotry
didn't know that, is there a making of BG or something?
Another character butchered because people wanted Imoen instead. Imoen should have died at Spellhold and Yoshimo get his story properly fleshed. The fact that he's Tomoko's brother is not even mentioned I think.
>Born during tethyran civil war
>placing her birthdate between 1347-1369 DR
>Gorion is murdered in 1368 DR
Which makes Jaheira 21 at the oldest, and 1 year away from being born at the youngest.
baldursgate.fandom.com
>Imoen did not exist in the original concept Baldur's Gate. Her character was a late addition to fill a non-psychotic-thief gap in the early levels. There was no recording budget left, so her lines were scraped together from voice-over left from a scrapped demo. The original character was a guard named Pique.
On the flipside, she was originally supposed to be available as a companion for the entirety of Baldur's Gate 2. After the part about her abduction by Irenicus was added, Nalia was created to fill the gap. That is also the reason as to why Imoen and Nalia are so considerably similar to each other.
And yet she looks and behaves like 28-29 y.o. at best.
>last 5
Last 3, I told you to kill yourself and then you were very angry about that.
Some might say seething even.
>On the flipside, she was originally supposed to be available as a companion for the entirety of Baldur's Gate 2.
No She was meant to die in Spellhold, that's why she barely says anything when she rejoins your party. You were meant to rescue her after escaping Bodhi's hunt just for her to die on you.
>and you are my manservant
god I wish that were me
then you're just a regular retard? not even a seething one?
you have said nothing of value up to this point
>She was added literally in the last moment as a good aligned starting thief
Ah, very good, always felt like baldurs gate 1 was lacking in thieves.
>you have said nothing of value up to this point
No no, I told you to kill yourself, which was very important for you to hear and I pointed out your ridiculous use of seething.
>responds to facts with "kill yourself"
that's a pretty big seethe right there
Yeah she behaves like she's older than 21, but maybe that's because of some weird druidic upbringing.
She does come off as pretty naive in bg2 though.
was she born during the tethyran civil war?
I thought she was a child during the war, so if she was something like 10 then she could easily be 30
>Imoen
>Monty
>Safana
>Coran
>Alora
>Tiax
There are plenty.
I'm going to install this game and mod it so I can be a sword master with master magic and marry Imoen.
I was doing the sarcasm meme
she's perfect bros
Yeah her bio says during.
I don't like this portrait, her face is too long.
looks a bit bottom heavy in the face
true but for people totally new to ADnD, forcing a thief in your party is smart, you need to learn lockpicking/traps or you won't beat the game
I think that Imoen portrait is amazing, one of my favorites
what do you use for Imoen?
>actually sucking badly enough at the game that Aerie would choose him over you
lol
Literally this. I like how it looks, and it more or less fits the style of the second game.
which real person has been naliad there?
berserker lvl 9 > dual to mage is fun, dual weilding
that's her actual face, it's just that the position is inverted and her hair is changed
Jaheira was born, or just a young kid during the Tethyr civil war, that happened in 1347, BG1 takes place 1368 she can't be past 30 at the very most
huh
neat
you sound upset someone called you out with facts for a half-baked opinion
"young kid" by half elf standards
If she was say 15 years old (8-9 in human years) that would put her at 36 in BG1
She was born during the civil war, it lasted between 1347 and 1369.
She can't be older than 21 in bg1.
She could be 20, 19, but not any older than 21.
>ME EAT KHALID NOW
>YUMMY YUMMY
Your timeline doesn't make any sense. She wouldn't even be an adult by ad&d, 5e, or fr standards. Not to mention all the things she is supposed to have done before the start of BG1. Jesus, the whole fucking plot that leads up to her is that she used to hang out with and adventure with Gorion.
You're taking a vague line and reading it the most literal and uncharitable way possible. Good luck with your autism.
I accept your defeat in this debate user-kun.
She looks like she has herpes and a drug problem here. Which she probably does but...
>i can dance on the head of a pin as well
what did he mean by this?
you're a hard cunt to please ain't ya
I'm a hard-to-please boomer who loves the series. This one is good though. I do love Viconia's BG1 portrait, with a smile on her face when she's about to execute someone.
Her eyes look dead though.
>twf no backstab spell
could've avoided thief class entirely.
>nwn2
is cleric's disease real? cause trying to go warlock was a pain the in dick, never made it out of the first dungeon in the swamp
Thousand-drow-cock-stare.
>he never permahasted the entire party
>he never had a literal 95% accuracy
>he never stacked one billion cold tentacles
>he never buttraped every single boss with the acid blast
>he never buttraped everyone under an infinite invisibility
that's why mods exist, wild mage is fun
Remember as a kid you didn't know how D&D worked and then gave people cursed weapons and stuff? Like Minsc and the cursed berserker sword.
i remeber the first time i played bg1 i didnt know what thac0 meant and in bg2 i never managed to beat melissan and just gave up
this bridge ended my first playthrough. the traps more than the kobolds
I was a DM for AD&D and teaching people the THAC0 thingy was a nightmare. Such a counterintuitive system. Also, the stats system. Put 16+ points or you get nothing.
You had to keep Yoshi in the party if you wanted a dedicated thief.
Seriously BG2 has a lack of thieves. Imoen is a mage now.
>Because she's best girl.
How? She's whiny and annoying about MUH WINGS all the time. Mazzy is best girl, it's a shame that you can't romance the sexy midget.
I just used Imoen most of the time because thief skills really don't matter much at mid and end game.
Jan is the best thief in the game because he is the only companion in the game who can get trap HLAs and use any item
I wish Montaron would have made a return in BG2, he would have been the perfect evil thief
warosu.org
I like how as soon as the beamnigger pasta is banned all the beamfaggots from /vr/ and /vg/ migrate here to shill this game
I smell a discord tranny op
I am still confused as to why the Beamnigger Pasta got banned when it was absolutely correct.
They later even patched the Tranny to be unkillable by quickly teleporting away when you attack it.
>Seriously BG2 has a lack of thieves
That meant that canon [charname] was supposed to be a thief. The devs originally intended for you to play a thief in BG2. If you didn't play one, then you didn't get the game a it was intended.
Think about it. You needed the help of the shadow thieves to get into spellhold, after all.
>thaco was a nightmare
>such a counterintuitive system
>lower = better
It's not the usual higher=better, sure, but come on.
but that can't be true my canonical [charname] was forever alone wizard
>"per rest/day" spellcasting
Literally the worst system possible.
What the fuck? Is that true?
It was confusing for people, even considering that the character sheets had the thingy to help with calculations. Also, being capped at -10 made it that at higher levels, it stopped being relevant as both sides, PCs and NPCs would just hit each other a large amount of times. Actually TOB has this issue.
Really? His pasta is quite on spot. I do't get that sexism thing. So Jaheira is the "nagging wife", but Khalid is really unmasculine, so somehow she being a nagging wife (which she's not) is sexism and reflects bad on women, but Khalid being how he is is just the character. It's really that Guybrush paradox all over again. Minsc is retarded, many male characters (even playable) are very vile, but the problem is Safana being a seductress? Just let characters be good, bad and whatever.
>Just let characters be good, bad and whatever.
Are you saying women are bad characters?!
What the fuck, user.
Higher level 2nd ed Ad&d was less about combat and more about role playing. TOB's issue is that high level ad&d combat is shit and TOB is all about combat.
Yeah, some of them truly are.
How is Edwin so insanely good, though?
he is Yea Forums incarnate
Added characters in BG2EE are highly dubious at best. Fucking Beamdog.
plot equipment
Spell slots, user. He's the best spellcasting companion in the entire game.
I think high level D&D in general is quite bad. I had a really long campaign where the players reached epic level and it was awful. The mages had so much power it was game-breaking. I even bought the book of epic levels and it was even worse. It's out of hand. I did enjoy some of the TOB fights though, but I think D&D is best at level 6-11.
To be fair, Rasaad was only midly boring. Everyone else is terrible though.
I'm surprised the EE didn't cut his Edwina storyline.
>You're not afraid of the dark... are you?
Dorn was chill
God I fucking love modding the games putting all three together with EET, and 100 plus mods. Really makes for a great RPG experience. Until you are level 60 at endgame and Melissan is a joke of a kill.
Is Siege of Dragonspear actually any good? Only two things I've heard is A) it got some writers fired and B) the antagonist is apparently solid.
Dorn had no chill at all.
>can't plan ahead
Yea man its pretty cool. Not really any faggotry unless you go out of your way to find it.
Hello user.
He was edge-lord incarnated, starting by that question to murder everyone in the wedding (although you can make it a bit less bloody).
Watchers Keep is the best dungeon crawl ever made. Elder scrolls should take notes and do the thing with the items where we get a description for each unique one. It really adds to the immersion.
Didn't Valygar actually have a really good quest with the Sphere in the city and shit?
What about Wilson?
>half-orc character
Yeah, the only race not represented by NPCs. Could have been a good addition. Why did we need another evil fighter class though.
>wild mage and monk
Again, classes with no representation. Good idea, horrible execution considering their inclusion in BG1, especially with monks.
>evil thief
In theory: YES, in practice: FUCK OFF.
Beamdog npcs are literally wasted potential.
has there ever been an rpg where you can object to somebody joining your party but he does still anyway?
RPGs need more paladins who have seen some shit.
It's like limited consumable health kits in games. Never use them because always saving them for when I need them. That moment never comes and I keep them forever.
When my party finally rests most mages still have 90% spells.
this man is steel incarnate
it's a shame stalkers are shit
Loads. Like, most of them.
Wilson's a-ok.
>gets wife imprisoned and her lover hanged
Based.
*betrays u*
>he doesn't know
vancian system was invented to develop limited precognition abilities in tabletop players
NWN2 is the first game that comes to mind for me. You can't turn away a single companion. Luckily, you can at least park them at the inn/fort and forget about them.
And speaking about NWN2 and the inn/fort, what the fuck happened to Duncan? It's like once you unlock the fort he literally disappears from the story.
>spam gets deleted
Nothing wrong with that.
>Luckily, you can at least park them at the inn/fort and forget about them.
which will bite you in the ass in the last part of the game, I totally hated this part
>You can't turn away a single companion.
Sadly.
Why? I hate the fact doing token conversation with everyone after major milestones is enough to stay in good graces. Nah dawg, only characters you actually take with you matter.
>be nice to Qara so she doesn't join the dark side
>Sand goes full retard
He's a great character. I love his banter and overall style. Yeah, he betrays you, but he doesn't have a choice. In the end, his redemption pays off a fuck ton with that 200,000 xp reward, so you can't even hate the guy for it. Plus, you get Imoen back, and another mage isn't a bad trade at all, especially one that is the only thief you need... still, I like to bring Nalia along too for sister power. They go nicely together.
Makes sense but not fair for me being a walking psychic deadzone.
what are you even talking about? none of that made sense. the enhanced editions aren't perfect but they're the best way to play the game for a vast majority of people. chill
as a kid I made my party sleep after every battle
Was that part where you cut his heart out and deliver it to a temple of Ilmater to redeem his soul part of the original game or was it one of those NPC quest mods?
heard it's booty, what's the fun part if the main quest sux?
No. Canon charname has always been a straight up Fighter.
Speaking of NWN2 I think a lot of people need to replay NWN1 before shitting on it. Too many were basically influenced by expansions and modules for the first game so they've kinda suppressed the OC. It was fucking bad. Even NWN2's highly archetypal campaign is gold compared to it.
Just forget about them bro. The game isn't so hard that you absolutely need all of them geared up for the last fight. When I got there, the only characters I had well geared were Khelgar, Neeshka, Elanee, Sand and Ammon Jerro. Still managed just fine, even if I did lament Grobnar the true hero of the story dropping in a couple of hits.

>Aribeth goes nuts and lays siege to Neverwinter
>something something something
>kill Aribeth
It was pretty memorable, tho.
its not spam though
The half orc and the monk where ok character wise but the wild mage was insufferable. How anyone could think this LOL RANDUM stick was a good idea is beyond me.
Based and redpilled
>tfw no naive tiefling gf to steal shit with
I love playing a good alignment character and still nailing her and being like a father figure providing her with conscious decisions.
adding a monk in baldur's gate 1 is what an imbecile would do, even in baldur's gate 2 they're pretty shit, in bg1 they are horrendous
also le gay buff orc was pretty annoying too
avoid EE companions like the plague
I'm not convinced Aerie is a good mother, seeing as she straps your baby to her back and goes off you fight demigods.
friendly reminder that if you refuse to ascend at the end of ToB you are literally a child
Dumbest fucking name in the history of fantasy names. I never read the books, and have zero interest in doing so because man, what a fucking dumb ass name. Jesus.
i must say i laughed my ass when i played with her
is the tranny janny still running rampant on /vr/? he's absolutely destroyed the infinity engine games thread
I forget. Is that modder a 50+ year old dude, or actually a woman who has a loli fetish? The mods for this game were fucking terrible, and people saying this character was good is a delusional pedo. The fucking worst fan fiction.
Why would you ascend to mantle a shitty god of murder when you're already an immortal planeswalking arch-mage?
Who needs the stress of being a god.
>*readied spell swirling in hand*
Say that again, faggot. I dare you.
>Who needs the stress of being a god.
What fucking stress? You can literally do whatever the fuck you want. You have a legion of followers that worship you that you can force to do anything. You're living the good life.
the BG1 NPC mod romances were pretty good
i remember that at the old bioware forum people were sure she is lin middle 30 it is hard belive that she is 21 with her voice and the way she act
This mod and the sandrah mod are unbridled virgin autism.
Gods have to keep busy toying with mortals. If you lose worship then you lose everything. Whether your good or evil, you have to constantly maintain your presence or the people forget about you and move on to the next flashy thing.
It's like being a celebrity but you don't have an agent setting things up for you. You have to do it all yourself. You certainly can't do whatever the fuck you want.
That isn't necessarily true, especially with gods that represent a certain aspect of every day life. They don't need to be worshipped, the only have to be remembered and respected, and since your role is so integral to their lives, you wouldn't actually have to do anything.
Look up all the shit FR gods had to do just to avoid getting torpored and wasting away on the Astral plane with people building cities on your floating corpse and mining your anus for gold.
I bet that's what Amaunator thought, being a sun god and all. Other gods can still take your aspect.
Doesn't Cyric have Bhaal's murder domain?
Doesn't Kelemvor have Myrkul's death domain?
You still have to remind them to thank you every time they brush their teeth if you want to remain god of dental hygiene. If they start thinking it's down to toothpaste then you lose your power.
I think i need more user
took a peak over /vr/ and I'd say yes
You can pull up examples of failed gods and say "Yeah, you have to do shit or you end up like them", but then you'll realize there are dozens of other gods that have been around since the beginning of time, some of which do jack shit, and still are in power. Isn't worth arguing about.
You could also say that your character doesn't actually have any worshippers at the end of the game and yet still becomes the new god of murder, so the rules don't even apply to them.
You absorbed stored essence. You'll burn through that.
Does it work on traps? check fucking m8, go to bed
And like was already pointed out, your character has literally pounded the asshole out of faerun on their quest to that point, so the essence is just icing on the cake - they don't even need it.
You might be thinking of primordials and shit like that. The "gods" that are tied to elemental planes. People can worship them as gods.
I'll leave it to you to gather a list of all the known faerun gods and post their applications that keep them from being dead. Like I said, it's not worth the effort, and you guys are putting far too much thought into it. Your character from the game is easily the most absurd exception to the rule.
>you guys are putting far too much thought into it
Yeah, it's all made-up, anyway. They're not real, like our gods.
We need 6th edition to come along and expand upon all areas of lore fully. Then i want a title that encompasses the god thigns about BG series and Elder scrolls RPGs. That is beyond wishful thinking though at this point.
ya because Aerie's not obnoxious at all
>still have my fully modded version installed from before beamdog took over
whew
Books are retarded but the name was canon outside the books. There was a premade hero/save file (don't remember which) for BG1 expansion pack Tales of the Sword Coast that had fighter Abdel as the MC.
5. Siege of motherfucking Dragonspear.
or you can just rush Spellhold and have her early
>omg they are monetizing their intellectual property
THE HORROR
if it bothers you that much, just fucking pirate it, its not that hard you underage queer
>falling for this old bait
You basically have to rush spellhold if you are using the Imoen romance mod to get all its content.
What's this?
What was she suppose to do? Hide leave the party and get ganked while she's alone? In the party she is surrounded by the biggest badasses in the realms and a literal demigod. Nowhere else is safer. She a caster who stays in the back line anyway.
>wanting to fuck your sister
Fucking degenerate.
it's worth to put up with it, when she matures she becomes pretty badass
Stay in the fucking pocket plane. It was the safest place in the multiverse.
Unless some subconscious part of you bore a great deal of resentment for her. Then it might create something that tears her apart, I guess. But you probably have Sarevok chilling in there and he'll keep her safe.
i played baldur's gate like 20 times already it is the only game that i never uninstall
idk if this is true but i'm gonna block my ears lalala i'm rolling an assassin nobody can stop me it's not shit lalala
>not wanting to fuck your sister
your loss; nothing is better than feeling like a complete perverted degenerate while spying on your sister showering and jerking it. Literally the highlight of my life.
That's a thief kit, genius.
good luck in ToB where everything is immune to backstab
>They aged poorly graphics wise
Go play Icewind Dale and tell me Easthaven looks bad now
Play a blade, straight fighter or wild mage.
>weeaboo
>actually is D&D-equivalent nipponese
???
no it doesnt even if you play Evil or Good you can always get Jan or Imoen, even if you're Evil Imoen will never leave you
Viconia is a drow, checkmate
Spike Trap annihilates everything though.
it's better to just play a fighter/thief
it makes sense. do you play an instrument? even if you've known how to play a song for years, you still need to do a few hours of practice if you're going to play it live or record it. on demand, when messing around you can kind of play it but you will probably make a couple mistakes. i imagine recalling entire chapters of arcane text is much the same, you gotta keep it fresh in your recent memory
Not a lot of people know this but it's canon that Drizzt fucked Viconia, too.
Show me the receipts bud
>revise Magic Missile the night before
>cast it once
>suddenly forget how to do it again
yes, him becoming bffs with Keldorn isn't retarded at all
I need proofs
>file deleted
ummmm...
no, an assassin as a child of bhaal
Not that guy, but I think of it as the same as the way the Discworld books do it: spells as actual tangible arcane forces that are literally riding around inside your head until you release them. It's not that you forget how to do it, it's that the spell literally isn't in your mind anymore. You can do the incantation but there's nothing to call forth.
Backstab immunity is a cancer.
It's gonna take a while to check. Keep the thread alive.
Have YOU played an instrumet? Muscle memory is a thing, bro.
how the fuck are you supposed to backstab a golem, or a baatezu or tanar'ri
>This is in addition to adding a slew of their own LGBT (hitherto there were none in Baldur's Gate) NPCs
what a fucking moron
he's a conjurer meaning his conjuration spells get a +2 saving throw bonus on enemy. conjuration spells are some of the strongest spells like fireball. the negative of spell school specialisation is that edwin can't use i think divination spells, which are crap anyway. also he comes with a strong necklace.
They've got backs. You stab 'em.
It's not really the same thing, although people chimping out about the one completely unimportant NPC is dumb, yeah.
You forget he gets +1 spells in addition to his necklace that gives him even more spells at the cost of basically not being able to identify without help. True Seeing sucks to lose, but oh well.
>hint of an areola
don't you sexualize my waifu you fuck
Surprise attack on a weak point.
>one completely unimportant NPC
you mean the one thats unkillable because its a tranny?
must be pretty important if you can't kill it
poison stunlocks mages till the end
Should've just done what happens when you kill Vivec in Morrowin.
Stunning.
If you're immune to backstab then you really should be immune to critical hits, too.
Nothing?
where even was this Tranny NPC? I didnt find it running through all three games
Not him, but I think it's in Dragonspear, which no one should play anyway, so the fact that it's there is moot.
Siege of Dragonspear. She has no relevance to the plot and if my memory's correct you never actually have to ask her about it.
based
She does bitch and head to the Copper Coronet though.
copout
It's not a copout, it's the fucking truth. Bottom line is that it's a plot device for a series of games that isn't even updated anymore. There are plenty of gods that serve no fucking purpose and yet aren't dead.
Dragonspear was alright. I liked seeing Irenicus before the kidnapping, The bridge where Bhall was slain, and The spectacles of spectacle were cool. Also the hell where you go up the elevator was unique. Didn't really think you could do that in the infinity engine. Take it or leave it I guess. MY uncles works for Wizards of the Coast so when this was all in development, I got promo codes for free copies of the trilogy.
no you could do it again a bunch of times until you're mentally fatigued. then you sleep, and by the next day, the memory isn't fresh enough to use in battle
if you're playing something you haven't played for 6 months you're going to forget small details and have mental blanks for the first few attempts
>haha having your gender swap would be literally a curse, who would want that?
vs modern leftist rhetotic. ok..
I mean, having your gender swapped *against your will* would be pretty curse-like, yeah.
Cracks me up when nerds create male characters with female portraits and cheat the belt on them so they can have a lesbian romance.
I had her leave to Copper Coronet because she was disgusted by the evil act of killing Nalia's family. Maybe it was an EE thing where she takes a leave after a certain reputation.
>Imoen's Belt
Was this ever explained? She had for a bit in BG2 and then it vanished. I don't remember picking it up in BG1.
personally i always install the companions never leave no matter the reputation component from the BGTweaks mod
It's a "cheat" item and what makes her immortal in the starter dungeon. Never explained in-story.
she is crucial to the plot point of irenicus taking her to spellhold and the player chasing them. it's literally plot armour given to her for the starter dungeon and cannot be removed
God that is confusing m8. Only baldurs gate autism can do this. I remember the reason I started oblivion was because of a viconia NPC mod for oblivion.
i beat bgee with scs and played a few hours of bg2ee with scs.. i think i don't like it bros. call me a casual but i miss the base insane difficulty. yes it was broken and the mages weren't using their full potential but jesus scs is just so frustrating. i think part of the problem is i'm not as familiar with bg2 as i am with 1
>knew about his betrayl
>'hey, Josh. mind to strip naked before we enter the room and face Irenicus?'
>'sure thing'
>'hahaha! I betray you! now face my fists'
fucking idiot
>hey aeris one sec lemme check your equipment
I was active in those forums until a point where the virtue-signaling, white-knighting and overall ambient was too much for me. I just couldn't believe what some people would say.
It's just an even more decadent bioware forum.
Don't forget my wine and boots user.
It was ok during BG 1 EE times, but it got bad fast. By the time BG 2 EE came out, it was a total abomination. The discussions about Hexxat being a lesbian were just atrocious.
>didn't bring back Baeloth in the game where we actually go to the Underdark
Biggest mistake right there
>crossing off 2 tokens with a single character
based
>give matriarch the fake eggs
>demon kills her
>give her daughter the fake eggs
>demon laughs and kills her, too
>don't give the demon the real eggs
>he doesn't mind because it was all so amusing
Infiltrating the Drow city was great.
Damn, Annah look like that? mod when?
Nice pic of Neeshka, bro. Who's Annah?
are you joking?
>give matriarch the fake eggs
>demon kills her
>give her daughter the fake eggs
>demon laughs and kills her, too
>don't give the demon the real eggs
>an evil npc pacts with the demon and give the eggs without a chance to interfere
god dammed...
Books aren't canon
so how does importing your companions into BG2 work with the BGT mod?
Yes, Planar Sphere is kino.
>loli fetish
isn't she just like 16?
It's not like the demon even really did anything. Even if it gets the eggs, it doesn't really do much to help the drow fight the filthy surface elves.
And what would the player even stand to gain from helping such a war effort?
After defeating Sarevok, you speak to the Duke of Baldur's Gate, who sends you south while the Bhaalspawn mess blows over.
1 less.
Doubt.
She would've recognized him then since he's a pretty boy.
You basically get that exact same character back, which makes recruiting let's say, Edwin in 1, and then ditching him shortly after only to try him out again in 2 rather painful since he'll still be stuck with whatever spells you taught him, which may very well be just magic missile or whatever only
Disregard . I can't read. You are stuck with the default BG2 npcs unless mods are installed.
Annah > Grace
I always felt like there should have been at least a year gap between BG and BG2. Party gotta have some time off.
Could've sworn it only goes as far as her saying he's pretty hot if they meet during his recruitment to fight against Bodhi
You'd think she'd be more hostile against a Do'urden but ah well
Drow city was a highlight
so many different shit you could do
also the part where the quality of your equipment goes through the roof
after first time, each time i started a new game i'd just kill him there and then after accepting him to the party.
What does Viconia being a nigger elf have to do with her being a cumrag who gets murdered by her goddess?
Ah okay.
Looks like I had misunderstood the term loli too, it's defined by age of consent, so depends a bit, but loli in most places since she's 15 iirc.
>dat feel when only way to make a full custom party was to spoof a LAN game
Probably why I enjoyed Icewind Dales more back in the day.
>the quality of your equipment goes through the roof
>leave the underdark
>it all turns to ash
Fucking cunts.
At that point, because of the retarded power creep of BG2, you should have +3 to +5 magic weapons before the underdark.
>black skin is a curse
DnD is so problematic that it literally hurts.
>mad good states
>level adjustment +2
Aww fuck.
watch the guy doing 24h stream on twitch right now if you wanna learn how to play the game on scs insane without cheesing
That kind of charcoal black.
They were still dark elves before they were drow, because of their already dark skin.
Probably a more natural human dark skin tone then. Not sure if african or just middleastern dark though.
>seeing this thread after finishing spellhold yesterday
first playthrough I've had with this game since probably the mid 2000's. What are the chances
what mods do i need to install so i dont have to start with the default party at the beginning of bg2?
very immersion breaking
Anyone have the comic where the adventurer is captured by the drow and """"""forced"""""" to be their sexual slave?
>the game more needed of an enhanced edition
>since it will require work beamdog is not gonna do it because the source code is "lost"
I tried replaying it recently but I can't force myself through the first game. The second one is so much better but I don't want to start it without the permanent stat boosts you get from the books in the first.
Also, the second comes with the difficult choice of waifu and whether or not to use waifu mods and then which one of those. Talia best romance mod.
>most needed enhanced edition
What do you mean? It was already the most up to date one, largely having all the niceties that were "new" in the enhanced editions.
Does shadow keeper work on the steam version?
there's a shadowkeeper for the original and one for the EEs
eekeeper
>I tried replaying it recently but I can't force myself through the first game.
That sucks user. I know that feel for a lot of old games but this wasn't one fo them for me. I did a full play-through of 1 and moved onto 2 a few weeks ago. Only complaint I have is that the level cap wasn't increased to take account for Durlag's Tower + the rest of the TotSC content.
Gay, kill yourself!
I just play a female so i don't have to bother with romance shit
the first one is really comfy, try to spice things up with mods like scs
Thanks
Just create a character in BG1, add the tomes through the cheat menu, use them to upgrade your stats and then save/export the character to BG2. I usually go through candlekeep until I'm outside in the forest with Imoen before adding and using the books. Sometimes you'll need to make her a mage to use the identify scrolls you'll have to create to use the tomes.
It's a pity nothing you do is remembered in the sequel so you could genuinely do that and it wouldn't matter.
you can kill drizzt in bg1 and he'll remember it in bg2
>that loading screen message in ToB that said you would be able to export your character to Neverwinter Nights
I still cry.
If you want to really powergame it, you can grant yourself the specific items that are carried over from 1 to 2, but those usually don't really matter all that much. I do tend to give myself Koveras' Ring of Protection, or a suit of plate if I'm doing a fighter type.
It's literally just a dialogue choice. You either say you did and he remembers it, or you don't mention it and he acts like it never happened. Most of the party characters from BG1 that appear in 2 have that interaction.
Drizzt will remember you being an asshole
See>
golden pantaloons
I remember pretty well he called me out on the murder even before I said anything to him
Bg2 best rpg ever...
Just look at the crazy Khmer fucker dude...
Only if you mention it. Xzar and Edwin have the same interaction too, where you can say something happened to them, or don't and it's never acknowledged. Perhaps it was something specifically introduced with tutu, but the games originally did not carry over shit, and nothing you did mattered.
>but I don't want to start it without the permanent stat boosts you get from the books in the first.
Those are not even necessary, especially in BG2.
The only stat that benefits from the books is wisdom and even then it is just a few extra spells that do not make much of an impact on the game.
Most of the stat boosts are made obsolete by the many stat boosting items in BG2.
Yeah, there's even the "weren't you dead?" option.
This is bullshit. Those extra stats on top of what you can get in BG2 can help move items from your PC to other characters that need them instead. Crom for 25 strength isn't necessary when you can get 24 strength naturally by ToB with certain builds.
you're dumb
youtube.com
he remembers it in the first line of dialogue, you can choose to apologize or attack him once again, stop being so militant about your objectively wrong opinion
Only happens if you have his weapons equipped at the end of the game and import. Of little fucking consequence anyway, nigger. Kill yourself.
where's the proof retard, can you stop pulling shit out of your ass for once and come up with actual proof?
youtube.com
Quit being a crybaby now please. Who literally fucking cares about this shit.
There is no flag to check whether Drizzt is dead or not, only for his weapons if they are imported.
Yoshi doesn't want to betray you, he's under a geas. There is no way to avoid Jon's bullshit railroad trap anyway.
