There was a huge grind and it wasn't very fun or interesting. The worst part was that shitty undead formerly undersea area where every enemy took years to beat, and that was the only endgame there was. By the time they did the half-hearted "expansion" with the desert and shit, the game was dead.

The personal character story simply ended (or should I say, Trehearne's story) and there was nothing to do except jumping puzzles and grinding materials. It was dead and everyone quit, including the entire guild I was in.

It also looked dated even when it came out and it looks far worse now.

It's WoW-lite on a Korean grind model where endgame is mostly about collecting outfits, and they even fucked that up.

I know you won't actually play the game, but let me tell you my perspective as an outsider who hasn't played GW1 before.

The story for the first 30 levels is good, as the writers of those early stories made it feel like the player was actually involved in something related to how you would play your character. The story from 30-80 is generic, but serviceable.

Then Living World Season 1 happened.

Heart of Thorns and LWS3 were marginally better. Marginally.

Path of Fire had one of the most contrived, asinine, fucking retarded plot points that has ever been introduced, and you could tell whomever was at the helm was a blind fuck who had no idea where they were steering the ship, and if it wasn't for the fact that by this point they realized literally NO ONE liked the lesbians and basically kicked their relationship out of the window, I would've dropped it.

But LWS4 has been a legitimately good story arc and if they pump out a finale for it as good as the last two chapters have been, then it will make everything all worth it.

Compared to the scope and the budget of this game it has one of the worst stories I've ever read.

It is hardly ever genuinely funny, memorable, remotely intelligent or even tragic, which is far more than nothingpersonnel'ing your characters.

Anything good in it went entirely to waste, I guess pic related is the most prominent example. It started in the base game of course, but that they couldn't do more than turn her into a disposable sad plot device for the worst of all these new characters is the most grievous misuse of a former headliner character that I've ever seen.

It's so off putting to know this game had a fanbase for years despite everything allowing them to keep up with the garbage. Going f2p, change of game director, firing the staff and better story could steer the game back to something better.

You know the "Get woke, go broke" mantra? GW2 was a huge example of that. The story was billed as the MAIN reason for playing (as they removed all the skills and exploration from GW1).

And then the story was written by purple sidecut trannies and similar scum, so it was nothing but lesbians and non-binary tree people everywhere. Pure garbage. "Living story" was the product of a truly diseased mind, and the personal story of the character has a couple of hours of good writing, then fizzles out and becomes the same exact shit disregarding your personal choices and then ending.
I was so disappointed. GW2 was probably one of the most disappointing games I have ever played, and I've played a LOT of MMO's that have died. Even Age of Conan was better.

No, he's right. The game's supposed cosmetic endgame has become "farm gold, convert to gems, buy outfit". New armor sets come out every once in a while and they're ugly and hard to mix and match. Back items still can't be dyed. Weapons, same. Remember when we had a full weapon set for each dungeon at launch? Now we barely have 5-6 weapons from raids. There's still no wardrobe for infusions. The game's aesthetic is complete shit.

Yes. Of all their initial fuckups it's the one that best passed the test of time. Ascended equipment is forever, once you acquire it you can just keep changing the stats and don't need a new one every time you respec. Most of the PvE content doesn't even require ascended gear so it's literally just there for minmaxers.
