Also I still don't know what the "nightmarish ritual" Mensis was trying to perform entails.

which hunters do you kill/let live for an alternate style playthrough?

Depends on your view and goal

>1. "You lived through the hunt, and saw another day."
You do the job, deal with your affliction(?), andput all this lovecraftian shit behind you. However, the cycle is just going to continue and you'll probably get caught up in some other hunt at some point only this time you don't have revive hax

>2. "Captivated by the moon presence, you pledge to watch over the hunter's dream.
You kick Gehrman's ass and free him. However Moon Presence has you take his place. Generally viewed as the worst ending although you can throw a personal spin if you want in that you willingly do it even though you probably don't have a choice. You'll probably end up shitty like Gehrman eventually though

>3. "You became an infant Great One, lifting humanity into its next childhood"
You ascend to Great One status and have a cutie doll caretaker. Implied that you will guide humanity to the next level. However its vague what this could mean. Who knows what the fuck you'll do or how you will view things / be after becoming a Great One.

it's maybe cliche to say about the secret golden ending but the umbilical gobbling ending is the best ending by far. The horny eldritch ayys get their babby great one and might finally stop sticking their dicks in humans, the humans get a great one that worst case scenario can't make shit worse and best case scenario is on their side and empathetic enough to help out without collateral damage like ebrietas or the moon presence do. On top of that, Gerhman is freed from the hunt and the hunter gets sick powers.

you're freed from the dream but no one walks out of yharnam the same, just like any other lovecraftish story.

you wake up to a dilapidated Yharnam, but at least you permanently stopped the source of the scourge of beasts, Mergo.

Here's a quick rundown on the plot:
>Find source spreading scourge of beasts
>Find out scourge of beasts happen during the Red Moon
>Find out that when the Great Ones descend, the line between man and beast is blurred (scourge of beasts), and a womb will be blessed with a child (eye of the cord in the Hunter’s Workshop)
>Find out Rom is obscuring the Mensis Ritual (note in Oedon’s Chapel)
>Find out Red Moon was there all along, just hidden due to Rom
>This is the source of the spreading scourge of beasts: the Mensis Ritual
>Mensis Ritual was conducted by the Mensis Scholars, but their contact with Mergo inevitably killed all of them
>Mensis Ritual required a newborn
>Find out Great Ones attracted to newborns (Miyazaki’s own words)
>Find out they were trying to beckon Kos(m) all this time
>Kill Mergo, the newborn, stop the ritual, and save whatever remains of the population from devolving into beasts
Your contract initially was to be a conscripted hunter in Yharnam. But you also had another contract: halt the source of the spreading scourge of beasts. Until then, you were bound to the dream, forever undying.

Note: beasthood itself can occur in small isolated cases, which was dealt with quietly and under the public radar by the Hunters of the now defunct Hunter's Workshop (lead by Gehrman). The Church did this as to not alarm the masses. That was until the Red Moon started to occur, and this amplified the beasthood into a "plague" known as the Scourge of Beasts.

Hands down one of the best games I’ve ever played, I fucking love it. It’s a better action game than sekiro imo.

Sekiro is a better action game imo but bloodborne feels like the perfect adventure game. BB is a bit easier than even DS3 but it is still satisfying because of the design and the atmosphere of every moment in the game.

Fuckkk, when is Miyazaki going to decide on making Bloodborne 2, come on.., there is clearly interest in it from fans
