>16 years later and still no sequel
Fucking why? What do we have to do to get a new quidditch game?
16 years later and still no sequel
The last movie came out years ago user, and even the most diehard Harry Potter fans among my friends didn't give a fuck about Fantastic Beasts. And Rowling has enough fuck-you money to shitpost Twitter the rest of her life. I don't think it will be any more relevant than Artemis Fowl in 5 years
because quidditch is, inherently, fucking stupid
maybe without the snitch it could be a decent sport, maybe
but as long as that asenine rule exists it simply won't be fun
Someone who actually read the books told me it's actually not an instant win; it's just worth a fuckton of points. They might have been bullshitting me though
By the timespan of 16 years, you should have matured enough to realize that quidditch is a part of one of the dullest franchises in the history of movie franchises. Each episode following the boy wizard and his pals from Hogwarts Academy as they fight assorted villains has been indistinguishable from the others. Aside from the gloomy imagery, the series’ only consistency has been its lack of excitement and ineffective use of special effects, all to make magic unmagical, to make action seem inert.
Perhaps the die was cast when Rowling vetoed the idea of Spielberg directing the series; she made sure the series would never be mistaken for a work of art that meant anything to anybody?just ridiculously profitable cross-promotion for her books. The Harry Potter series might be anti-Christian (or not), but it’s certainly the anti-James Bond series in its refusal of wonder, beauty and excitement. No one wants to face that fact. Now, thankfully, they no longer have to.
>a-at least the books were good though r-right
"No!" The writing is dreadful; the book was terrible. As I read, I noticed that every time a character went for a walk, the author wrote instead that the character "stretched his legs."
I began marking on the back of an envelope every time that phrase was repeated. I stopped only after I had marked the envelope several dozen times. I was incredulous. Rowling's mind is so governed by cliches and dead metaphors that she has no other style of writing. Later I read a lavish, loving review of Harry Potter by the same Stephen King. He wrote something to the effect of, "If these kids are reading Harry Potter at 11 or 12, then when they get older they will go on to read Stephen King." And he was quite right. He was not being ironic. When you read "Harry Potter" you are, in fact, trained to read Stephen King.
it's worth 15 goals, christ have you even played the game in the op
I've also heard that the snitch only ends the match and tournaments are decided by total scores at the end.
This
In the books the Quidditch world championship is won by a team who scores like 40 goals before the opposing team catches the snitch
we have to summon satan
comeon people let's make a circle and pray
theyre making that one harry potter game or its at least set in that universe, id count on having quidditch in there in some way or fashion
they should make a quidditch manager game, that's the way to make it fun
what the fuck did i just read, also atlas shrugged is definitely not god tier, fuck you
It's not an instant win, but it does end the game. As it grants you 150 points though, it may as well be a win, and that's where the misconception comes from. Just to spite this, in the fourth book, JK has one of the characters (I think Fred and George) make a bet at the Quidditch World Cup that Team X will catch the Snitch, but Team Y will still win, as if this is something that commonly happens. It would never happen because of the Seeker of Team X would never catch the Snitch if they were 160+ points behind, it's literally a game losing move. Especially seeing as the game does not end UNTIL the Snitch is caught, so if you're a seeker you only have two jobs:
1) Catch the Snitch if you're not losing by 160 or more points.
2) Do NOT catch the Snitch if you're losing by 160 or more points.
by the timespan of 16 years you should have understood the impact of quiddich on both the books and real life
Quidditch in the harry potter universe is not only a sport but a symbol of the wizards independence from the muggle world
It goes beyond that it is a symbol of wizard culture, induvidualism and more
It has impacted the world at such a large scale it has even become a real life sport that people enjoy
Perhaps this is because of the connection to the wizard-world and other-worldlyness, or perhaps it's just for fun
But you can't deny the impact quidditch has had on the world
It will forever be remember by us
This is literally the first PC game I've bought. Feels nostalgic man.
But by the way scoring in quidditch works 150 aren't that much
>tfw I'm so retarded that I would probably catch the snitch even if we were more than 150 points behind
I have a long history of fucking everything up
It shouldn't be, but she always writes it as if fifteen goals would take a long time to get. There's a disconnect between what should be happening and what she writes happening during the Quidditch games. I don't even really care though, it started as just a zany part of her Roald Dahl-ish story and became irrelevant later on in the series, so she rightfully stopped writing the games.
DEH!
But rmember that the 3 rings have different values, 1, 10 and 100, scoring 150 should not be that complicated.
All goals are worth 10 points. Maybe it was changed in the movies or the games (to make more sense, so I wouldn't be surprised), but in the books all goals are always worth 10 points.
Now I'm unsure because I remember a different scoring system
Imagine playing this with all the features you have on a fifa or madden
Balancing a game around what is meant to be Harry's winning maneuver was an odd challenge indeed. I think I just hit the world circuit (really cool idea, since I would imagine most of the characters were made for the game) before I dropped it, but I still recall it being "keep just enough of a lead, then trigger the snitch sequence."
There was a chain-scoring system of some kind, getting through multiple hoops quickly, the same or different hoops, something like that actually let you rack up large scores the way the books didn't have to because Harry would win them with the snitch.
Copy paste, move on.
I think this is something of a Mandela effect. There are three hoops of differing heights, so it would be natural to assume they all give different points. You probably assumed so when you first saw/read about them, and as Harry isn't a chaser, didn't care or remember the details about them because all that matters to you is the Snitch, that's where Harry is concerned. So because you assumed so, that's what you're recalling now.
>Yea Forums
At least tell me there are quidditch fangames out there?
Somebody must have tried it at least once.
