They really need to find better ways to engage with villagers, even a friendship system would go a long ways. Allowing a certain degree of town customization in where houses are located, and going back to the Gamecube topdown perspective would also be good in my eyes.

I want to have a city apartment that i can go to and customize, and have that be the online hub. My town is offline, and while i can visit other towns that is the primary offline experience. Also more biome type places instead of just a single beach area outside of the town

Maybe some are nocturnal animals, and only come out at night, maybe one is the prey of another, so they always try avoid them. Have possums play dead until you do something to earn their trust. I'd be surprised if they didn't add some way of preventing houses being planted where you don't want
The rolling log was added as a way to limit rendering, like the acre system, but allowed for seamless towns. With the next game being on the switch, they may be no need to limit the rendering.

Animal crossing, like many other good titles, is a game based on childhood in rural japan. This is where the charm of the game comes from, this is the core value that should not be changed. Other biomes and a focus on city life would destroy this core value. I don't like people who ask for changes like these to animal crossing when they don't have a clue what the game is about.

I expect less features than wild world, no online coop, and dlc villagers, virtual currency, always online drm, have to pay for Nintendie online just to update the game or its bricked, and also some gay petting minigame that whites out instantly like fire emblem

There really need to be a better system for storing items, and storing MUCH MORE items. Why have a game where you can have hundreds of items but can only stash away a hand full of them.

This all seems fine apart from the point about designing the town layout. the limitations in animal crossing, the things you can't control, very much add to the sense of life and realism. It feels more authentic, like these towns are places that existed before you moved to them, if you can only choose from some randomly generated maps.

Not allowing any changes in a franchise leads to stagnation. While i do tend to agree with you since i feel like the first one is still the best, allowing for more areas while not mandating them could add a variety that the series could benefit from. Besides, even the first one had tortimers island.

I want to agree but I spent over 10 hours alone resetting the maps over and over and over and over. I'm fucking sick of it. I am losing my fucking mind all over again thinking about it. I don't care about realism anymore, I want to be able to design it. And they could still make it seem like it's been there before; Rover could say he doesn't have a map on him, but does have a pen and paper, and he gives it to you, and you draw it.
So you want your town to be snowy? Guess what, there's a season for that! The seasons bring all the changes that the animal crossing briome needs. If you're too impatient/low attention span to appreciate the slow moving seasons of animal crossing, the game is not for you. Go play Minecraft and add a furry mod.

I've never really liked Isabelle all that much because of her annoying fans and how excessively she's shilled in a series that didn't need a defacto mascot and was known for its huge main cast. I wouldn't mind her anywhere near as much if she just kept to her position instead of doing shit like stealing Rover's job and appearing on the 3DS menu diorama.
There's also the fact that I first started playing in 2012 with WW and GCN whereas a good chunk of the AC fanbase these days started with NL, where she's front and center. If my first game was NL I'd probably actually like her too.

I started with Gamecube and like her well enough, but she is overly shilled for sure, she shouldn’t have replaced Rover. On the other hand though, she’s kinda my main now in Smash since I could never get into playing Villager, so it’s a conflicted feel.

What? There are different plants and animals, as well as a general layout. There could be a lot of cool unique content in a different biome, you need to stop acting like a biome is just a coat of paint.

Basements have been there since the first game (Though they sucked there because you couldn't change the walls or flooring so it was pretty much just storage)
Last I checked there was no night clubs, dream therapy clinics, and department stores in rural Japan. They've already played with these things and there's nothing wrong with it.

I want to see a really good lighting system and detailed textures on furniture and wallpaper/carpet. For new features I want areas outside of the village you can visit. Maybe a shopping mall or a movie theater or a bowling alley or whatever.
