Most common ideas of Banjo's moveset are pretty generic and might as well be Duck Hunt's moveset. You can forget about that, it won't happen. Here's what might.

Also, a much better and more interesting way to handle the eggs would be to tie them to a single special, neutral B, and then allow the player to input a direction as they hold the button. Hold it forward and then tap B again to fire and egg straight forward from Kazooie's mouth. Hold backward and then tap B to have Kazooie pop it out her backside in an short arc and bounces, making it useful for dropping off the side for ledge guarding or a means of covering space from behind.
Could also give their double jump a bit of flutter like in their game to it to slow their descent for a short distance, allowing them to get more horizontal distance without losing as much height, though coming at the cost of a predictable movement and being fairly vulnerable during the flutter. Basically like gliding but much slower and less bullshit shenanigans.

Both of his projectiles are pretty beefy and slow and leave him fairly open. his recovery is slow and leaves him wide the fuck open, and his down B is a counter, which we have already seen on Ike.

I think it's really because Banjo isn't seen as completely impossible anymore.
Of course no one was going to pull for him for Brawl and Smash 4 (prior to DLC) because, well, why the fuck would anyone support a character directly owned by the competitor? But then when the ballot began, Phil Spencer gave his blessings of Banjo being in Smash, which Banjo fans viewed as essentially the first glimmer of light in a long time. Now we've gotten to the point where Microsoft seems to be putting some of their games on other consoles like Switch, like Cuphead and (heavily rumored) Ori. Even Halo seems to be coming according to king zell of ResetEra (despite what you may think of that place, he's the most reliable insider by far).
Even if Banjo doesn't get in this around, as long Nintendo and Microsoft remain in cahoots with another, I could see support for BK getting stronger over the years, maybe even becoming the most requested newcomer.
Pretty much this. K. Rool was always my most wanted but only because I knew back in the Melee/Brawl days that hoping for Banjo is just illogical. I might as well been hoping for Goku at that point. The stars have somehow aligned to make it possible for them once again
