the fat oled vita is without a doubt one of the best 80 bucks i spent.

no, mgs 2 runs 30 at some places and 60 at some interiors. mgs 3 runs 30 only as far as I recall. Peace walker is dogshit without resorting to cheats to unlock 30fps

I'm not sure about that actually, the clock speed in the CPU is higher but the architecture is way older and has about half the IPS. Overall the N3DS CPU has a slight edge but it ain't much.

I love my 3ds more than the vita, but the 3ds is way worse in performance. Retroarch sucks even on the New 3ds. The extra power it has doesn't pack a punch.

Yes, that's what I said. The microarchitecture in the Vita is much more advanced than the one in the N3DS, which is why basic clock speed comparisons don't give a good metric of performance.

Vita has an upperhand if you want to play PC games on the bed.

You'll struggle with snes games and gba games and anything more demanding won't work at all. But to be fair, a lot of snes games (only new 3ds) and gba games can be injected into the virtual console and run at full speed.

That's funny, snes9x for o3ds runs pretty well on my o3ds. I guess Retroarch emulators are simply more accurate/less optimized.

I don't know I tried all available snes9x versions on retroarch and aside from mario world (wich almost ran at full speed) all games I tried ran like shit. I tried playing aladdin and the game was running at roughly 20 fps.

Oh i just googled it, and there is an injector for O3ds, but apparently it runs blargsnes and snes9x in the background and does not run the vc, it just copies the style of the banner.

Not at all, this version is optimized for the low end o3ds and actually meets performance targets a lot of the time. Heck, a ton of the optimizations were actually backported to the PSP's SNES emulator after all these years.

The only reason to get a PSP in 2019 is if it's a PSP go for ultra compactness to play in public. Even then, you should still have a Vita.

The first one isn't expensive, second one for sure is. IIRC the failure rates weren't crazy but were on the higher end of an expected range.

I have a first version gpd win I got for $200 because a button didn't work. I repaired it in about 20 minutes after I found the button wasn't working because there was no contact pad underneath it and made one out of pencil lead.

I got to use a slim model for the first time. Good lord what a downgrade. That OLED screen really dresses up an otherwise bland image.

I have both and side by side in person the oled is better but it's not nearly as much of a leap as you make out.

Maybe it wasnt ideal viewing conditions but it just looked washed out and grey. Admittedly it was a small sample size.

Yes and Yes. However, inventories, mission names, and client orders are untranslated. The menus are translated so you'll have no problem navigating the different options.

it's pretty much the same. However, you can overclock it to make it run much smoother. You can "unhack" it if you install the non-permanent hack (you would have to reinstall the hack if you turn the vita off). As far as UI, there have been people who made custom UIs but they're pretty much garbage. The base UI is what most people use.

I'm saying I already have joy-cons and have one Switch for playing Smash online, and I would need a separate one for homebrew because Nintendo will brick my console if I go online with homebrew and I won't be able to play Smash. Still, I just ordered a Vita off eBay. There's virtually no chance of me finding it at a thrift store, alas.

There are hardware hacks. I have a 3g one so I got psvsd which has you remove the 3g board and place a new one with a micro sd in it. No soldering or anything.

Switch is a great console, I looking forward to buy it later. But right now, vita still get a lot of my attention.
