It means Persona 6 will be the exact same game with very minor differences. And I mean the exact same game. I wonder what the twist detective villain will be like in the next Persona game. I wonder which God we'll fight. I wonder what kind of mascot character we'll get. I wonder if Persona will ever have a good protagonist after 2.
Because those were mass-market trash that everyone can buy and enjoy enough to not regret their purchase but doesn't satisfy a specific niche that will remember it as a classic. All three are fairly basic action titles that get superseded as soon as a new basic action titles comes out. Whereas P5 and BB are a bit more specific in their appeal.
To be fair, this is Xenoblade Chronicles 2 tier on a much older, popular franchise with a bigger install base. I get that’s huge for both games, but I honestly expected P5 to have sold a shitload, maybe not a MHW increase, but still.

4SE didnt sell much, but it was very cheaply made re-release. It wasnt a flop, it was enough to convince capcom to make DMC5.

Not even close. They could make the best game ever, it does not have the popular appeal persona has. They can’t market it to casuals, but unlike fromshit, they can’t shill it to ragefags and streamers either because there’s no action or DD disaster potential.
They might be able to get close if it was insanely atmospheric, but at best it will be some cross of 4 and Nocturne with P5 graphics.
