a great game in its own right, it does atmosphere and immersion much better than the 2D games obviously, but the actual platforming and exploration is weaker, the backtracking is especially bad since you can't go as fast as the 2D games

the maps are superb as far as metroidvanias go, that's sort of the point user
what matters is how you get around in both games; in Prime jumping about and platforming is brutal, just think of that underwater destroyed ship segment
if it had an optional 3rd person mode for platforming it wouldn't have been as bad, but even then you can't run like a madman to get to where you need to go
