Because Gen4 was the culmination of "old pokemon", so it had everything that old pokemon could be. Due to not recovering sales, Gamefreak afterwards went on to continually shake up the formula, hoping to find again the spark that started pokemania, trying a new gimmick with each subsequent generation. It's not working, the fanbase is very stable, but not growing.

Jessie has always shown to be a very competent performer, constantly winning contests even against both Dawn and Serena; James meanwhile is very knowledgable in pretty much everything Pokemon related, along also coming from a very rich family (where he own a really strong Arcanine). Both are also incredibly successful when doing small businesses, but they tend to use those funds for ther evil plots and complicated robots. I feel like there'll always be a Dexnav equivalent. IIRC even Let's Go had Catch Combos which have a very similar effect in practice (item rewards, increased shiny chance, rarer spawns in the area, higher IVs with some being guaranteed maxed after a set amount in the chain), though I agree Dexnav is by far the best iteration on the concept.

We'll have something like it regardless, since it's one of the things they've been pretty consistent with. If they could go back to the detail that Dexnav gave us with it, that'd be good, yeah.

Also I like Photo Club because it allows one extra layer of personal connection with your mons. It's very much a side thing, but Pokemon having just side things that let you make your Pokemon more personal to you is vitally important IMO.

Like the hunt for the regiis are one of the best experiences in the franchise.
The problem is that hunt is relegated to some gayass ultra hoop onahole minigames no ons likes, instead of it being a hidden on the map with some sort of puzzle, dungeon or map you need to uncover it.

Game Freak painted themselves into a corner by having too many legendaries and being afraid of telling newcomers they can't have all the legendaries delivered to them in one gen. The best they can do now is make randomly generated dungeons with legendaries at the end.
