Instead of a health bar, you can only get hit three times then you're dead. V is far too easy to play as, and the only time you ever even feel anything is when Shadow or Griffon die and you've lost one method of evasion for a moment. If style is meant to be an indication of how visually appealing your combat is, it makes sense that you wouldn't get docked points for stuff that doesn't change what you look like.

I found the exact opposite. When DMC5 came out, I was like 15 and I struggled a lot with it. When I went back to it before DMC5 came out, I only died once or twice. And if you're talking about getting lost in Mission 15, everyone gets lost there their first time since you have literally the entire map open.

It's not really common sense at all that an independent AI entity would be tethered to the player character by an invisible and never-explained radius, especially since the tether isn't "hard" (i.e. it doesn't interrupt the familiar's actions, it only kicks in after a combo or attack has ended).

That's true, but he doesn't always spawn close to you. He will remain freely mobile until a specific distance is put between you and him, and then he won't reduce his distance to stay as close as possible to the enemy while remaining within the radius, he'll wait until his current animation is over and then teleport by your side.

In Vergil's resurrection scene, Dante lets V waltz right up to Urizen to let V finish him off, and only starts running in order to stop him after V starts raising his cane to stab him after V confirms they are one and the same and that they had lost each other. I guess you could think that Dante figured out V was Vergil but just didn't think he had ulterior motives until that last moment, but that seems really unlikely seeing as how hotheaded Dante is when it comes to Vergil to the point where Nero has to stop them from killing each other needlessly.

Not him, but it's a bit murky to me. It's like he "knew", but didn't at the same time. In Mission 12 where he stabs himself with the remnants of Rebellion, mimicking what Vergil did with the Yamato, he outright says:

You could extrapolate he means it separating the human and demon "worlds", but contextually he's definitely referring the Yamato splintering "man from devil" literally. But if he knew V's identity, it's questionable how he isn't the least suspect of his intentions or only treats Urizen as *the* Vergil throughout the game. Novel also doesn't hint he figured it out either, but I guess it wasn't important enough for him to call V out on it sooner.

Experiment. I alternate between Trickster and Swordmaster, but mainly Trickster. Royal Guard is high risk, high reward but is devastating once mastered. If you have the patience for it, do it. Doppelganger is mostly a gimmick, and I don't find much application for Quicksilver outside of VH/DMD Mission 20. But that's just me. At the very least, fool around with Swordmaster and test out the new skills. You'll have to level the shit up, though.

Really just depends on context though. I normally can't handle RG but I really like it for A&R, and guard-cancelling spiral shots is really powerful if you aren't too proud to use scrub tactics.

4th summon that's effected by the D-pad and mapped to RT. Remove book, increase V's base rate of DT gain and have his taunts give him DT over time like the book did too, higher style rank taunts give more meter faster. Style gained from constantly taunting is still on a cooldown, but DT gain is not. 5th summon that relies on a Sin DT like gauge. Make V more focused on micromanaging both his summons and DT guage. Make shadow's auto AI when buffed less retarded, improve the promotion moveset. More cane attacks that can actually combo. Perfect dodging now performs counters like the Cavalier execution looked like it was supposed to be.

I made the same mistake. You don't need to get good enough to exceed on every hit. Pick maybe one or two ground moves and one aerial move to practise the exceed timings for and prioritize revving when you use those moves.

Yeah because Rebellion actually is more of a distinctive broadsword with an ornate as fuck skull on the guard and nice handle compared to the Yamato which is only a katana with a white grip and nice gold trims.

I meant infer that V told Dante about the Yamato splitting Vergil since Dante knew about the split in the SDT cutscene. As to whether or not Dante knew V was Vergil all along, I think there is evidence for both but I'm on the side of him not knowing.

The evidence that he did know is like you said, Dante knows about the Yamato and knows that Urizen is Vergil's demon half, meaning that he knows that there's a high chance of his human half running around. V is the one who told him this in the first place and this should have immediately raised a lot of flags in Dante's head considering V knew who Vergil was and his relationship with Dante, and even read poetry like Vergil used to do. Basically it all boils down to Dante completely ignoring all the blaring sirens that V gives off like him saying "I know how stubborn you can be" and being able to summon Mundus demons which would make sense if Dante already knew.

The evidence against it is Dante's behavior towards V. He calls him "nobody special" when Lady asks who he is, tells him to go home and quit multiple times as if he has nothing to do with the Urizen problem, and is completely fine with letting V walk up to a defeated Urizen in order to kill him. And in that last scene in particular, Dante realizes something's wrong at the end and rushes in as if he just had a revelation, which I think is most likely because of V's speech to Urizen at the end. There are a bunch of ways you can interpret that but I think it's most likely that it didn't click for Dante until the moment V told Urizen that they are one and the same and that they had lost each other.

In the end, you can take the side of "Dante didn't know", which makes Dante a complete dumbass for missing out on all the obvious signs, or you can take the side of "Dante knew", which creates inconsistencies in Dante's behavior and actions, especially his attitude towards Vergil. I feel like Dante being a dumbass is more likely.

That's how you should start out (it's literally how I learned to rev in the DMC4 demo) - but it never hurts to build the muscle memory for all the strikes. It's been streamlined so much in 5 that my friend who couldn't rev for shit in 4 was able to do it much easier. No reason to not go all out this game. Nero has shit for options compared to Dante, so every little bit helps.

While I like it I’m not sure how one would even design it another way.l to please those who dislike it.
I feel it’s design takes a decent amount of cues from its components and matches his Sin DT well enough that any design would retain the dislikes elements.
Though I will admit I hope we do see some dormant rebellion/force edge like form so people can have options in the future.

Yeah, that's actually what I thought at first since it gives Dante's character a lot of depth and ties in with Dante's love for Vergil at the end of DMC3 and when he realizes Mundus was controlling Vergil in DMC1. But then other things don't really mesh with that interpretation like Dante just laughing off waking up to V about to ram the Sparda into his eye socket and treating him like a nobody for the most part to the point where he tells him to go home multiple times and immediately drives off on his motorcycle when V shows up after the Cavaliere Angelo fight wanting to tell him something.

He calls him nobody special because he doesn't want to explain everything to Lady and Trish (who he didn't want to be involved in the first place) because he sees the entire thing as his family business. What do you think Dante would say had he known? "Oh yeah that's just Vergil's human half separated by Yamato, and by the way the demon king is actually his demon half, thank you for asking." He tells him to leave because it's a simple fact Vergil's human half is not going to match up to the power of Vergil's demon half. V would have died had Nero not intervened with Malphas. Your interpretations are senseless.

Swordmaster expands the options for JC combos a lot since it gives you more aerial moves. But, if you learn how to JC moves like Killer Bee (Beowulf) and Swing/Revolver (Cerberus) you can use other styles to mix shit up.

Yes, to an extent. Level 3 Trickster gives you a move that teleports you to the air directly in front of an enemy, and can be reset with JCing. Experts use that to basically fly between enemies without touching the ground. But that's really tough. Swordmaster lets you do strings in the air so you can fuck up more but still deal some solid damage.

I think there should be more overlap between the style action button and the shoot button in gunslinger. You can't charge Coyote with the style button, you can't shoot your Faust turret with the style button (even though you can trigger hat trick with it).

You're not the last, I think most people just ignore gunslinger outside of lasers and rainstorm. It's kind of a shame you have to stinger into it, if you could cut-in side-dodge from neutral it would be a lot more useful, as it stands it's only really good if you're doing a gun-only run.

For me it's all an act. Dante likes playing the dumb pizza man and is all about distancing himself from things he really cares about due to past trauma. So he straight up runs from V on a motorcycle and avoids conversations until Nero can't take his shit anymore. That's just my interpretation, but I also consider the possibility that he's just a dumbass and he gets especially dumb when he hears the V word

The stinger can be cancelled pretty quickly, but if you just want a side-roll that ends in a shotgun blast you already have it. It's a dodge roll followed by a shotgun blast. There's not really any functional difference without the ability to gap-close built into it.

Imagine if Dante stinger'd Urizen and V together and that somehow fused them together since Rebellion still worked.

I mean, those little things like calling him a nobody and telling him to leave are just little things that could definitely be explained away, but that doesn't change the main point that none of Dante's interactions with V indicate him knowing at all and in particular Dante trusting V to kill Urizen with no ulterior motives if he knew V was Vergil makes no sense unless you truly believe Dante trusted Vergil's human half without question (I guess it would fit with the whole Dante embracing his human side more but I don't think they wrote it with that intent).
Dante and Vergil stabbed each other many many times but it was never played for laughs in the games and every time it happens in DMC3, it's a dramatic moment between brothers and it would be weird for Dante to shrug off Vergil trying to skewer him through the head and think there was no malice behind it.
I think it's both, Dante acts like a clown as a mask and rushed into the whole Urizen situation after hearing that Vergil is back without giving much thought to anything else, and he definitely gets really dumb whenever Vergil gets involved and that's why the final mission is all about Nero stopping them from doing something dumb.
