From the steam page, lizardmen get red crested skinks (with great weapons), salamanders, big salamander, Stegadon with engine of the gods (orbital laser seen in the trailer), Ripperdactyls, ark of sotek bastilidon

There's usually a free lord that comes with the DLC update, it's possible that will be him, although Thanquol is a big enough deal that they might do something similar to Grombrindal from the first game with a special GW promotion

Saurus are slow, skinks are fast and these ones have AP, so they'll probably trade upwards compared to regular Saurus which get annihilated by elite infantry

Giant rats being missing I think is fairly important to Skaven aswell.

They'd work as a good trash cavalry. Skaven have a terrible time running anything down. Their victories as a result don't often lead to army wipes

Okay. Maybe some of you know this. I have Warhammer Total War , the first one. Most of the content except for the two major expansions (wood elves, beastmen I think?) which I can get. Iv'e not played it too much.

I've heard that Warhammer 2 Total War can include all of the races/content from Warhammer 1, right? Does that include all of the story campaigns and whatnot? Other modes? DLC? Such that if you have a full assortment of Warhammer 1 DLC and you buy Warhammer 2, you will never need to play 1 again given that everything in it is unlocked and playable in 2? Or is there stuff "left behind" like storylines for the 1 races and whatnot?

Have they mentioned any changed to Slann to make them worth taking? They are not worth having to use a slot in the capital for. I wish they'd just be given a magic missile basic attack.

The campaigns are not in.
Basically owning WH1 allows you to do a Mortal Empires campaign, which is the whole map from both games but slightly compressed. DLC that adds new lords or races from the first game are still required to play as those lords or races in Mortal Empires.

So yeah, besides the mini-campaigns there is no reason to play WH1 once you have WH2.

You have access to all the factions/units that you own in WH1 in mortal empires.

No armies weakness should be a complete inability to capitalize on a victory. That's stupid and arbitrarily done, and isn't related to the "faction" but CA's whim.

Not being able to run down armies is just a symptom of them having no true cav, which is a very necessary weakness.

If you already have Warhammer 1 when you buy Warhammer 2 you get the entire world map from both Warhammer 1 and 2 including all the factions in a game mode called Mortal Empires.

All the races in WH1 (plus any DLC you own) are available in WH2's combined campaign map (if you own both games). The only things that don't transfer over are the two mini-campaigns (Call of the Beastmen and Realm of the Wood Elves) which were both shit anyway, and the cinematic intro videos when you started a campaign, which are on Youtube. Unless you really really want to play those mini-campaigns, you can go ahead and uninstall the first game.

Lizards aren't just getting Kroak, they mentioned in the FAQ that the under empire thing is just a 'taste" of the changes for lizards and skaven.

They should've just not, the whole point of the Vampire Coast is that their infantry is trash, but now they have probably the best heavy infantry in the game.

Depth guard are highly effective at breaking tar pits, but any specialist anti infantry, or even well armoured infantry, will cause a costly and cost inefficient clash at best, and rip them to shreds at worst.

Because if the handgunners are knights than guns are un-chivalrous, and if they are peasants then no one can be bothered to pay for expensive guns and gun powder to equip them.

Yes, Maz is good. Mostly becuase of the mount that makes him into a tank. The other Slann don't get a stag though, they can only face tank and they are about as strong as any other caster lord, only with a 4x large hitbox and no flying ever.

I remember the preview tournament they held right before Coast launched and the Depth Guard were way, way overtuned. They were absolutely invincible before they were heavily nerfed for launch. Maybe that's what he's talking about.

Except in that same tournament mammoth wulfrik literally deleted a unit of guard with polearm in 2 attacks. And THEN they got nerfed. Depth guard are a unit of fucking vampires like the heroes and yet they suck shit against anything on the same tier as them. They are purely for punching down now but you're not going to buy 1200 cost shieldless elites to punch down just because they regen in melee.

then while they are engaged with grail buddies withdraw the knights for a minute to let them rest, then charge them in and withdraw opposite cavalry (unless they're Perfect Vigor)

It gets easier when you have foot squires and men at arms with shields. Early game, abuse pox archers (which are surprisingly good) and try not to die. Mid game, hammer and anvil, the AI's early game units won't be able to break through your men at arms so quickly and will rout instantly when you flank them. Late game, you can have Grail Reliquary reinforcing your anvil and they'll be actually reasonable. Endgame, get 19 units of Grail Chads in a doomstack and roll around autoresolving everything.

If you want infantry to be an anvil you need a grail relique about the place to make sure they hold. Battle pilgrims and grail relique used to be the standard line for bret since its strong enough to make sure that everything gets above 70 leadership with a good deal of melee defense. Otherwise, yeah just go more hammers. Consecutive cav charges, even to the front of braced infantry, will break them. Get a few peasants with polearms then just charge 2 or 3 units into the flank from the exact same direction and you'll push them halfway down the line. Or work on your micro skill and charge any infantry from both sides at the same time.

Pretty much. Brettonia is a trade nation. Its lifeblood is trading with the southern realms and Ulthuan. Dark Elves love fucking with literally anything along the sea so the brettonian navy is strong as hell. The entire reason the Imperial navy isn't shit is by stealing inspiration from dwarfs and brettons.

Because the Empire has been made the noob-friendly faction. It's frustrating because it's obvious they could make it a lot more fleshed out if the other factions are anything to go by. Hopefully the HE become the default beginners faction soon and in TW3, they fit the bill much better with how they're implemented in the game.

Yes, but it's not 100% the same content. Many things from WH1 have been updated. If you play dwarfs, for example, in WH1 it will be old version, in WH2 they have new features like forge and separate start for Slayer king. Same thing with vampires, betonnia and so on

So this may sound dumb but pls understand I ask this as someone who's only ever played "traditional" RTS games. How do the Total War games work? I tried Shogun and when the game basically opens up with everyone just having gigantic armies ready to go for free without any base construction or unit production I was...very confused. Total War is all about war and actual battles. The campaign is just something to do between them. Your goal in all TW games is complete military dominance(except for like Wood Elves in WH). Your primary objective is to build up an army on your own and strategically choose where to expand first and engage in diplomacy to cover your flanks.

In the fluff, Blood Knights are some of the most dangerous beings out there, and demigryphs are insanely dangerous to the point where it’s rare to have any more than 3 knights in the kingdom who have one.

3. Their liege lords would also not allow them to own firearms.

I dunno about that, every character has several different weapons, both ranged and melee, which some are locked for a certain professions like dual axes for Slayer. There are also necklaces, charms, trinkets. Plus all this stuff have different tiers with different stats and power (although it does not mean shit when you've maxed out your loot drop to 300 power). that's quite a variety to me.

Noctilus has the best start position in the game (dead centre of the map, you can just go in any direction you feel like and have a great time). Gunpowder troops right from the start, unlike Humans/Dwarfs who have to reach tier 3 so probably won't get them until turn 20+. Great selection of magic lore, Luthor can fix his mind and use Lore of the Deep if you fulfill certain conditions. Great selection of monstrous units and their artillery are strong too. Tied with Tomb Kings for best DLC yet.
