HL:VR campaign - you play as Alyx (possible Co-op with PC)
VR Puzzle game set in Aperture Science.
3rd game unknown. (Maybe Boneworks?)
Are you ready?

fuck all of that
if this headset doesn't have 3.5mm audio passthrough im going to flip my shit
fuck your built in headphones I want my own

Boneworks being a release or a just-after-release title seems clear, it's slated for a 2019 release and it was on a Valve internal package for a while which suggests they are prepping to bundle it with something and/or closely working with the devs on development.

There are a bunch of HLVR leaks in files but I don't think I've seen anything about other games, I don't know if they would be THAT good at completely hiding the existence of other stuff.

>you play as Alyx

Can I touch boob?

it's an instant game over

>Boneworks being a release or a just-after-release title seems clear
As a bundle game like Space Pirate Trainer or just coinsiding with it?

In a release bundle would be ideal and the devs have a good track record of getting games done so it doesn't sound too outlandish, I think people misunderstand how "done" the game actually is because of the environment that looks like just testing rooms but I think that's just the intentional setting of the game.

>the devs have a good track record of getting games done
Well they only have one other game (Duck Season)

And Hover Junkers too which was part of the launch lineup for the Vive.

oh right, I keep getting that confused with Space Junkies

it's almost our time bros

though its still young I'm happy that VR refuses to die this time

>You play as Freeman in his standard mute self
>Your co-op partner plays as Alyx, able to vocalise commands and stuff.

>Meanwhile from the partner's perspective, they are playing Freeman and you are Alyx.

Always thought this would be an interesting solution.

I think the big factor this time is that regular people have the resources to cater for it. Most of the better VR games in terms of gameplay and mechanics have been indie developed.

sounds like an easy way to break muh immersion
why not freeman and barney

I don't see how. NPCs would just look and talk to the correct characters from the respective player's perspective. It would be no different to HL2, aside from Alyx not being part of the scene animations, which she wouldn't be anyway if she's a co-op character.

>why not freeman and barney
Sure. Who the secondary character is isn't relevant to the discussion.

The headphones have some special haptic features. Miniature air cannons or GVS or something like that.

They're just open-back headphones.

i'm saying during coop naturally you'd say something to your partner like "alyx just told us to do XYZ"
to which the response would be "you're alyx"
It's better to have them both not voiced or as static characters

GVS is interesting but it needs direct skin contact with electrodes and people build up a resistance to it pretty quickly, it's not ready for a consumer product.

Or you just use your partner's own name instead of the characters, like every game ever?

i don't see how that solves anything

I don't see anything that needs solving.

Also I'd hate having air blown into my ear, something like Feelreal that is just placed on your mouth is better.

The entirety of the speculation about HLVR being a prequel where you play as Alyx comes from Tylers 'triangulation-verified' anonymous sources. There is a tiny, tiny bit of confluence with text string leaks, that the apparently relatively limited armory of the game includes a machine pistol, shotgun, and unknown 'energy weapon', all the same weapons which we've seen Alyx use in HL2. But that really means very little.

>There are a bunch of HLVR leaks in files but I don't think I've seen anything about other games, I don't know if they would be THAT good at completely hiding the existence of other stuff.
Presumption is that the other two games are in Unity. We've only gotten HLVR leaks through Source 2 tools updates. It's also entirely possible that all these leaks are deliberate 'leaks', bones thrown to the fans, something Valve is known for doing.

IMAGINE

I hope it's true that eye tracking is being widely adopted in 'gen 2'. It's a greatly underrated thing with many uses.

i think it could be really cool, especially if capable of any degree of lateral air movement. they could be used to give a sense of 'wind in your ears' from motion when moving in VR but standing still IRL.

it's going to probably be what actually defines 'gen 2'. as soon as foveated rendering is worked out and added to the common middleware game engines and/or VR APIs, any HMD without eye tracking is going to be at a huge disadvantage.

>open headphones on a device made for porn
uh oh spaghetti-os

>Are you ready?
I'm ready for this dumb meme gimmick fad to be over, THAT'S FOR SURE!!!

Attached: this is so much fun!.jpg (1920x1080, 253K)

apparently it uses quite advanced software to create a realistic "breath in your ear" effect if, for example, someone's whispering next to you. Pretty creepy when you think about it

Feelreal does have air blowing but it's just basic blowing with no direction, they could put some additional motors in there to rotate the fans.

you can run your own headphones along the umbilical with literally every HMD out there and disconnect/detatch the built-ins if you hate them so much

commence your flipping if you want

What do you want instead of VR that is new and exciting?

Computer peripherals have no generations, there's no definition to be had if it relies on a subjective wishlist of features, I wish people dropped this meme. What defines an actual generation is a new central shitbox coming out that clearly defines a new line of features and content, which isn't something that happens on PC.

Voice changer technology that actually works

That's kind of how generations work though. Headsets have different pros and cons and they copy each other in the next pass. Like the Rift's rigid headstrap being in everything now.

All the major companies are looking into eye/face tracking now. What else would you call a widespread upgrade like that?

Calm you autism. I even put it in half-quotes, and explained what specifically I meant. It will define the 'gen 2' of HMD hardware, because HMDs without it will be immediately obsolescent. It will be the clear dividing line.

>He doesn't know how to bypass his adams apple and make a perfect female voice without apps

Do you even trans?

>What else would you call a widespread upgrade like that?
Another upgrade? Why would it another generation when none of the upgrades that came out in the last few years were "generations"?

An upgrade across the board that would change a lot though?

>bypass my adams apple
is this a firmware update or something
