>20th anniversary of the series this year >official Ape Escape website updated today for the first time in 7 years >Japan Studio confirmed to have another 2-3 unannounced games in the can, with ZhugeEX confirming that there's 2 more unannounced PS4 exclusives that are instalments in existing Sony IPs >the Crash and Spryo remakes both did well, with MediEvil next in line to bank on '90s nostalgia >that Tweet about "getting back to work" in 2016 >Hot Topic merch stocked out of nowhere about 6 months ago, much in the same way as Crash and Spyro
The first game was at least a 3D tech demo. But the fun is in trying to catch all the monkeys. Not much else to do, and some can be dickish to apprehend, but it's just simple dumb fun.
They probably thought it would be easier for American English speakers to pronounce. Which raises the question of why they didn't just go with a familiarly European name, now that they were changing a charactr's name.
Luis Mitchell
Couldn't you just post picture of the website or ape escape logo? Noo I must post shitty twitter picture instead. Killyourself twitter obsessed faggot.
I think that Sony learned from Ape Escape Move. It's gonna be a PSVR exclusive with 2 hours of gameplay max
Lucas Perez
I will buy Ape Escape 4 for full price if it lets me put captured monkeys in a zoo I can walk around, or if I can pick a couple to be helpers and clean up the lab.
Joseph Lewis
>ZhugeEX
yet another twitterfag /thread in trash
Mason Sullivan
why are pricks in here hung up on the twitter part? there's new AE in the works you dumb bastards!
Mason Phillips
yes, separate from this one so we don't get mopped up
Levi King
This makes me wanna play the old games, what's the best PS2 emulator? I've only emulated DS games, like four years ago.
Jaxon Nguyen
pcsx2 but last time I checked ae2 was almost unplayable and ae3 had heaps of slowdown
just get a secondhand ps2
William Brooks
Time to undust my ps1 and ps2 to replay the original titles. It's less than 60 days until the anniversary, I guess we'll have news soon.
>million monkeys fuck that game, gave the cast their current fugly designs not to mention the shite gameplay
Kayden Hernandez
Why did this series even die off? Did Ape Escape 3 sell poorly or something?
Blake Moore
>I don't have your apes, and FUCK YOU anyways
Kayden Young
That's thanks to people like him that you still have a job, Chris, so don't call his posts awful.
Tyler Gray

Jaxson Ramirez
>Making kids games
Doubtful.
Juan Lee
Unironically this! We Sonybros only need movies and P R O G R E S S I V E games!!! YAS
Logan Rodriguez
The original incarnation of AE4 fell into development hell and was ultimately recycled into that shit PSMove game, so I think it's a combination of that (rightfully) bombing and Japan Studio having their big reshuffle under Alan Becker in 2012-13.
Nathan Evans
Don't you put hope in my heart man. It's been so long.
I am sick of all of these revivals lately. It just shows how bad video games have gotten that the most exciting news nowadays are old games being brought back.
Fuck. I miss when video games were good and exciting and so full of creativity. I miss the fucking 90s.
Brandon Jones
>someone posting OC is reddit dumb cunt, kill yourself
>The goofy monkeys wearing edgy armors >That stark contrast between the bright cartoony pedestrian and the realistic soldiers >That one villain being choked to death on-screen, in a kids game What the fuck was going on with that game?
Damn, what about the spin-off games? I remember liking Pumped & Primed as a kid. What's the best site to get roms?
Carter Sullivan
Ape Escape 2's on the PS2-on-PS4 range. Granted it's universally the PAL version because Ubisoft control the American publishing rights.
A PS2-on-PS4 release of Ape Escape 3 was rated by the Australian classification board a few years ago but was never released. People were thinking at the time it might've been Konami being difficult over the MGS content since it was in the wake of the announcement of Kojima signing with Sony for Death Stranding, but if Ape Escape is getting the N.Sane treatment, it may well explain why it never came out.
Nathan Anderson
ape escape did not deserve to be done dirty like that and don't get me started on the alien monkeys
I remember buying a dual-shock and Ape Escape to capture those fucking escaped apes. Great game. I never played anything else in the series though but I have fond and frustrating memories of that first game. I'm not much for nostalgia cashgrabs but I might actually have to buy this one if it happens.
William Campbell
You forgot: >the villain killing his own monkeys because they failed at their job
Jaxson Jenkins
he's canon in the smash universe via snake he's fucking in
Ethan Bailey

Andrew Ortiz
Why are wojak fans so insecure about other OC taking the spotlight?
Ape Escape is one of those series that doesn't work past the PS1 era.
Justin Evans
>post yfw Open-World Ape Escape
Charles Mitchell
I would have been beyond excited last gen, but now I am mostly just worried that they'll rape the corpse of Ape Escape if they bring it back. Fuck modern Sony.
Landon Thompson
Platformer where the items you collect try to escape and fight back, you get a bunch of ridiculous gadgets to capture them. It's simple fun.
Landon Thompson
Last appearence of the ape was in bomberman R, i really hope they will return. With a Mesal Gear Solid 2
Oliver Moore
The Ape Escape games were games and not movies, and they also weren't mature games for mature gamers that Sony so covets, even though the games actually demand far more skill and awareness than Sony's supposedly mature games.
It is no coincidence that all the good Sony games died out around the same time.
You chase escaaped apes around and use various tools to catch them. There's a lightsaber lookin thing that works like a police baton, a net and others. Depending on what game, there's shit like racing mini games too.
The series controls are dual analogue based, in that you move with the left stick and the right stick controls your equipped item (functionaally like the HF blade in MGS2)
It's a pretty unique series. There was originally 3 games, plus 3-4 spin offs and a mini game in MGS3 as well.
The original game is arguably the best, but I prefer 3, personally.
Sonyfags love to poke fun at nintendo fags about all the kiddie games, but we had more than our fair share too. (We just have things other than kiddie games to talk a out too)
That would be amazing, and I hope it's true. However, I wish they'd make an Ape Escape 4, rather than the remake we all know it'll be. I mean, an updated Ape Escape 1, in the right hands, would be killer. But it's still just the same game again at the end of the day. And I'm not above replaying the original for nostalgia purposes. So a totally new adventure would suit my needs much better.
Charles Ortiz
Holy shit its time
Adrian Perez
Nu-Sonyfags on Yea Forums aren't real fans of Sony and they probably started gaming this gen. They just want to be on the "winning" side of the console wars.
Alexander Taylor
Can Yea Forums not have a thread about ape escape without taking lolis? Keep it up it will be another vr game.
Jayden Sanders
no one was talking about or posting lolis you absolute nonce
>Japan Studio confirmed to have another 2-3 unannounced games in the can, with ZhugeEX confirming that there's 2 more unannounced PS4 exclusives that are instalments in existing Sony IPs One is Ratchet and Clank which is being part done by Insomniac North Carolina and a new support studio. A new Pippisaru/Ape Escape is probably another though there's a good chance its a PSVR title.
Andrew Stewart
Its about time.
Nicholas Fisher
jesus fucking christ please be true
Ape Escape 3 was the end of my true enjoyment of videogames before I had to force myself to play them, I remember seeing the credits knowing deep down it was over
Gavin James
1. Great Platforming 2. Sick Acid Drum n Bass soundtrack 3. KINO Levels, tv themed, time travel themed etc 4. Comfy as fuck
Ditto. I get the impression that its the industry's attempt at "saving face" sort of speak, aside from the obvious monetary motivation.
Liam Parker
Pottery
Alexander Anderson
he really had to imply they copied some minuscule thing from mario?
Chase Lee
To be fair, just about everyone thought of that monkey when Ape Escape was new. And it's not like today where you had thousands of games and everything had been done already.
Jack Bell
AE4 when?
Christian Allen
because chasing after something is some novel concept that no one else could have thought of?

This was the age of shit like Croc. You could pretty much count the games of the genre on your hands.
watched hours of this when it came out as it didnt in europe

Being an Ape Escape thread, post your favorite: >game >minigame >gadget >music >monkey >level >protagonist >side character >boss >moment/memory >wishes and hopes for the series And maybe a least favorite for the above too.
>moment/memory Hanging out in the time station just listening to the music
>wishes and hopes for the series just another sequel, Apes Escape 3 was the last game I truly enjoyed, I only play videogames now out of boredom/ to distract myself or to kill time.
favorite: >game Ape Escape 3 >minigame Mesal Gear Solid >gadget AE1 toy car >music AE1 Thick Forest >monkey the three golden monkies from AE3 >level Specter's Castle from AE1 >protagonist Spike >side character Professor >boss AE2 Red Monkey >moment/memory the pirate boot up for the PS1 AE1 crack >wishes and hopes for the series a trilogy remaster or a 4th title
Nathan Harris
I still own my copy of this. My younger brother sold my copies of Ape Escape 2 and 3 like a decade ago. Still mad about that, but yeah Pumped and Prime is pretty decent and the OST is fantastic.
Hunter Nelson
Gravity Rush crossover when?
Michael Morales
>>game 3 >>minigame Boxing from AE1 >>gadget The Hula Hoop >>music youtube.com/watch?v=jwn9wx2dqqI >>monkey George >>level Kung-Fu Alley >>protagonist Spike >>side character AE1 Casi >>boss Specter >>moment/memory I love all my memories of the series. >>wishes and hopes for the series For Sony to place nice and work out some kind of deal to get a new game on PC, PS4 and the Switch.

Looks like Sony might want me to finally buy a ps4
Chase Bailey
unless it's on the ps5
Gavin Lewis
>game 1 >minigame I actually liked the snowboarding in On the Loose but I also liked the boat races in Pumped and Primed. It's probably safe to say 2 had the worst mini games. >gadget Sky flyer is always my favorite >music Fuck there's so many good ones but I gotta go with Time Station. I love to fall asleep listening to it. It really takes me back. >monkey Blue Monkey >level Wabi Sabi Wall >protagonist I love Kei's design and I think he's really cute. >side character Aki >boss To be honest I don't like many of them. But Jake in Specter Land is very memorable to me. >moment/memory When I got the first game, we had just moved. It was the first game I bought in the new house. I moved in the middle of the school year in first grade. I was scared of meeting my new class. All I could think about was how Friday was coming up and I was gonna play all weekend. I used to draw Ape Escape characters and monkeys in class too. >wishes and hopes for the series I'll take remasters of 1-3. Mostly for 3. It's the only one I've never been able to 100% so I feel that I must. I'd love to get the platinum trophies for them. I just really hope they don't give the remakes to a western developer. So much of their charm to me is how Japanese they are and how they were localized like old anime. >Flying thing >Time Station >Hanging out in the time station just listening to the music Awesome taste. >Mesal Gear Solid I would love to try this again. I never could complete it as a kid. >Boxing from AE1 Damn this was a really strong one too.

Reminder December is PS 25th anniversary. No PSX or E3 so they have 2 years worth of reveals there.
Connor Gonzalez
Japan Studio is Sony, tho.
Ryder Wright
They better make State of Play good, then
Kevin James
Considering AE's history with MGS, a Mother Base feature/minigame would suit it incredibly well. Catching apes and sending them to your R&D team to make new gadgets, or sending them to levels to scout out secrets and shit. I call it Monkey Base. Also, give me a cardboard box, damn it.
Yea Forums is retarded not to realize sony is slowing down on ps4 games and finishing out the gen to move onto ps5. The closer to ps5, the closer people will be to the big announcements the crave.
Luis Ortiz
goodnight shotas and lolis i'll see you all in the next bi-annual ape escape thread
>big reshuffle under Alan Becker in 2012-13 did they ever recover from that? I believe that was also the reason why Ueda left right? They lost a lot of good talent.
Matthew Roberts
>Great level design, emphasis on variety >Cool boss fights >Simple yet tight and responsive controls >Fast load times, even the loading screens keep you immersed >Smart use of VR >Catchy music, reminiscent of PS1 days and early platformers >Excellent animation throughout >Bots can be well-hidden, so you'll likely replay levels more than once >The challenge levels need to be found (chameleons), they reuse things from the main levels yet are still varied
Only thing I can complain about is that at the end of a level, the bots you collected sometimes floss
Basically everything mario oddysey had was stolen from ape escape games.
Nolan Diaz
Id say the only "fake" videogame fans are Nintendo Switclets because all they do is play old ass ports that they would have played ages ago. Its literally the most "fad" tier console ever with no identity.
Because you baselessly assume any and all Sony-critical posts must be made by Nintendies. Did you know all Sony players are BRAPposters? Why are Playstation owners so obsessed with huffing flatulence?
>nintendo cucks sony out of the last characters they can actually call their own
Carter Jenkins
ITS OK WHEN SONY DOES IT
Isaac Campbell
Wait now you suddenly care about cartoony shit?
Joseph Roberts
ape escape is too good for nintendo
Brody Wood
JapanStudio is the last bastion of fun up there, user. Gravity Rush came from there as did Astro Bot and the VR Badman game. They are probably the only facet in the world capable of doing a new Ape Escape right now and that's assuming Sony Interactive Entertainment leaves them alone like they would their pet companies.
Joshua Butler
maybe some of the devs of AE3 are now working at Nintendo
Aaron Davis
>sony fans >hey lets enjoy this reboot of a cool game from our childhood haha sometimes playing these games are fun

You can hope for patapon minigames in dreams. There were few models with animations in the beta. Otherwise maybe wait for patapon2 remaster.
Jace Phillips
geg this one always reminds me of watching Arino suck ass at this game
>There were few models with animations in the beta. R-really?
Owen Ward
Let me get this straight Sony dicklickers.
Crash isn't toddlershit Spyro isn't toddlershit Ratchet & Clank isn't toddlershit Jak & Daxter isn't toddlershit Parappa the Rapper isn't toddlershit Klonoa isn't toddlershit Sly isn't toddlershit Ape Escape isn't toddlershit (And keep in mind a majority of these are classic PS IPs)
But literally fucking anything Nintendo publishes is?
why did they only ever put 2 on psn? and with those terrible voices?
Elijah Reed
they'd fuck up a lot of the visual aesthetic like they did with crash admittedly they did a better job with spyro but it still lost a lot of its original visual design crash racing is suffering the same problem too
Like all those nice drawn textures other user is posting, they aren't going to do something like that they'll try to properly model the backdrops and they'll add too much detail or make it look generic cartoon land
Justin Torres
SNOY is gonna fucking kill Ape Escape.
Gabriel Adams
At least this time it'll actually stay exclusive.
Thomas Gutierrez
Probably due to licensing with ubisoft.
Colton Scott
>It's a live-action movie project with Idris Elba as the monkey
Stopped reading there, fund it. The white monkey being the super special one is like totes problematic, guys. It's 2019 ugh.
Yea Forums are massive shitposters who posted a misleading headline. He said he would delay games if they can be polished even at the cost of less releases in the year. You probably think naughty dog is against having fun too.
I've always thought that Sayaka/Yumi is the most perfect loli ever, but I'm really hoping that they actually try to go for another hit with a new perfect loli. BUT with the current state of Kusony that dream is impossible now.
Andrew Gutierrez
You can blame this fucker for everything wrong in this game
if this game was on a nintendo console, it would have been milked to the point where everyone other than brand loyalists are sick of it by now. it also would have been dumbed down for literal toddlers starting in the wii era. see: nu super mario bros., nu-pokemon, yoshi, etc.
Asher Moore
if this game was on a nintendo consone, we'd have more porn of other characters besides yumi
Christopher Reed
I've been waiting 100000 years for this One of my favorite game series of all time, but it was such a niche thing here in the US. I remember getting the shitty PS Move spinoff back when it came out and being the first american on the online leaderboard with the trophy for capturing all monkeys. (They were actually hard to find and there were literally no guides or anything online, hence why no one else had the trophy)
I envy you. I'd love to re-experience that game for the first time again. I know it's not on PS4's PSN network like AE2 is, but has anyone simply just gotten it from the PS3's japanese PSN? How does it run on there?
Christian Phillips
Ape Escape 2 is underrated
Charles Diaz
Very. It doesn't re-invent the wheel with new mechanics like 1 (being the original) and 3 (transformation mechanic) but the music and levels are prime comfy to me
Michael Parker
damn, i've never played it. i have a shitty laptop so i cannot emulate it... someday thats why when i got the statues in ape academy the monkeys were really weird to me, because i didnt know that it was based on AE2
James Collins
Only thing i dislike is that the normal monkeys look kinda strange but the rest is pretty fun
Jace Hernandez
Fuck the boat minigame
Leo Allen
>Pipo is Bomberman >Sony getting cozy with Konami Ape Escape remaster with The MGS content inbound.

Man I loved the first game so much when I was a kid. I still have the original disk. Ps4 isnt backwards compatable though is it? Is there any other way to play it? My playstation broke a long time ago
Joseph Rodriguez

Never. If they did, I'd own 10 of each. This is a small, niche, and fairly old franchise at this point
Dylan Lee
My bad about the shit links. Here's one compiling every major ad for PS4. As early as 2013's Greatness Awaits you can see the omega symbol from God of War. Crash is shown in another as a sign post. I think the King Ad had Shadow of the Colossus tower and a Precussor or from Jak and Daxter. youtube.com/watch?v=PuWpHLT2vIc
Would be happy with Ape Escape 3 being released on PS4 as PS2 Classic
Jacob Young
>implying Sony will give a budget to Japan Studios >implying Sony will advertise that shit even if it's good Have you ever seen any games from Sony Japan getting advertised? GR2, Tokyo Jungle, Everybody's Golf All good games that deserve better
It's going to be Ape Escape 1-3 being released exclusively on the Epic Store
This would actually be a really good idea if they gave each world a unique gimmick that you and the monkeys could take advantage of. Seeing cartoony versions of grittier series like God Of War done Mesal Gear Solid style would be hilarious
Connor Gutierrez
>time for the Soul Sacrifice world
Oh my.
Luis Lopez
maybe have different levels for he boy and girl characters.
Isaiah Allen
>tfw I want the next Ape Escape to be more like 3, but with more unique enemies like 1 >don't actually care about cunny or shotas and just want another fun game
Lincoln Wood
Have a (You). I want the dreary AE1 aesthetic to come back. I dont like the pastel tones that they decided to go with in later games. I feel like a weirdo playing them compared to the first.
Ape Escape 1-3 w/VR support. Ape Escape 4 is a PS5 launch title. Screen cap this.
Ryan Miller
>Saru Sacrifice It writes itself
Christian Young
1-3 getting the N.Sane treatment would actually be a pretty perfect way to gauge interest in the IP to see if people would actually get behind a PS5 AE4.
