Theoretically wind/air should be the most OP in a magic setting, as most of your opponents should need air to live and I don't see why you can't just take the air from their lungs, force choke style. You should also be able to just raise the oxygen levels and kill everyone.

>Dimensional elements (time, space, gravity, etc)
Gotta admit those are pretty neat. Especially love gravity.

I love the versatility of water compared to the other elements. Depending on how far you can take it you can create ice weapons, armors, and objects, steam that can burn people up, lightning through creating clouds and edgy shit like "blood bending" or messing with the water that comprises 70% of peoples being. Even with the most basic setup you can still have fun with water cannons, bubbles of water to trap or drown people with, and high pressure streams that can cut through metal.

Some of the other versatile elements like Earth and maybe Air are pretty cool, but I've never been a fan of the more straightforward ones like Fire. I mean it's always good for DPS and not having to carry a lighter but what can you do with fire besides going from hot to FUCKING HOT without severe stretching?

Attached: F-M8.png (224x261, 91K)

>Darkness high tier

Gravityfags belong in bodybags

>but what can you do with fire besides going from hot to FUCKING HOT without severe stretching?
Divination. Pyromancy dates back thousands of years. Cast something into the fire, and the smoke that rises tells you of its nature. Thin and light smoke is a good omen, or whatever burned was pure, but black thick smoke is bad, and so on. Then you have stuff like A Song of Ice and Fire, flame witches can predict the future simply by gazing into a pyre and seeing the flames play.
Also, working metal requires heat. Cooking food requires heat. And nothing, nothing at all, in the whole world, is "fireproof"... once you get hot enough, everything burns or boils away.

Seems like a stretch or at least a non exclusive ability given that hydromancy and other forms of divination also exist.

The other examples sort of fall into what I mentioned of fire being useful when not having certain tools and again going from hot to FUCKING HOT. Being almost purely on the DPS train isn't necessarily a bad thing though.

>Au: 79
I'm going for Gold boys, wish me luck

>polonium

How is it any more of a stretch than including clouds under water? Clouds are gaseous, the definition of air's domain.
Further, you can easily add spiritual elements to fire. Fire cleanses, destroying impurities. Selective fire that burns only the sinful, or flame that produces other effects than burning (magic blue flame that freezes is popular). If you're granting cold properties to water, it's not any more of a stretch.
Fire as a source of light (candle, torch), fire as a source of inspiration (Prometheus), fire as a source of willpower (fire in your gut). It's really not complicated.

Fire or lightning because they have the coolest particle effects
Wind and metal close second

>having metal as an element separate to earth
Yeah just make your armor out of fucking rocks guys, earth = metal

Clouds are in that grey area for water and air like lava is for fire and earth. Honestly, I was just thinking more about the pure elemental side of the elements rather than their magical or symbolic side. If that's in play then it definitely does open up some new avenues though that would be true for all of the main elements.

Attached: 220px-Anglesite-Galena-249200.jpg (220x181, 14K)

Fire is also typically associated with life/rebirth. Like you said, it's a bit of a stretch, but I think it's uncommon enough that I like seeing it used that way.

I will agree though "water prison" being a giant inescapable bubble-style thing is always great.

Wow, way to bring the mood down

Isn't it because the chinese elements aren't based around physical things, but their "spiritual" representations?
The "element" of metal isn't about the product of refining ore, it's probably related to the mutability of spirit, or the concept of "guardianship" or something. I don't actually know the details, I just read the wikipedia page on Feng Shui a few days ago out of curiosity.

Vox means voice and not sound tho. Either way it's probably just some retarded Japshit since they love raping other languages just cause they think they sound "cool".

Either metal or water, depending on the lore behind magic in the realm I'm in.
Water = become a blood bender, and if for whatever reason that's not possible
Metal = still become a blood bender
Having control over an element hugely present in a living being's body makes you master of man, animal, alien, and plant. Metal might be better because I imagine most elemental golems would have minerals mixed in with their body whether it's a water, lava, rock golem etc. or if it's a pure fire elemental you could make it implode with metallic dust and shit.

Attached: Balthasar_Gelt_bg.jpg (443x655, 107K)

it depends if it's summoning said element or manipulating it like ATLA

>Are we talking just water or ice and gas too?
you're confusing the terms "water" and "liquid". All three mentioned states of matter are still water.

That raises the exact question I was about to ask:
Do you anons prefer water and ice as one element (water), or separate? Do you think of it as control over liquid/solid water, or control over hydrodynamics and (cold) thermodynamics? Does water magic extend to things like rain clouds, which could be considered an aspect of wind/air, and is ice magic the true counterpart to fire magic from the "controlling thermodynamics" perspective?
Similar questions could be raised for rock/earth and wood/nature as one or two elements, or fire and lightning to a lesser extent. I really like designing elemental magic systems and seeing different takes on four/six/eight piece systems or how "combined" elements work.

I think it depends on function and how it works relative to the other elements. I'm fine with water/ice being merged as long as similar connections can be made, for example, with fire/light or earth/metal or even air/lightning.
Generally speaking I think it's thematic for them to be connected, but I think in practice unless there's a balancing act with what's "allowed" for the other elements to broaden their horizons, then any given character should focus on either the water part or the ice part, alternatively aggressive "attacking" maneuver's or crowd control/utility abilities.
>Create water bubbles and manipulate water dragon
>Create ice walls and throw ice spears
>Create water "arms" and then freeze them as restraints.
>Manipulate a water dragon and throw ice spears.
Basically, as a general rule, they shouldn't know two "water" abilities that serve the same function.

Seikon no qwaser anyone?

I had not in any point of my life up until this moment, in any way or capacity, been given reason to think that Yumei had a single piece of fanart. Yet now I come to find not just one such piece posted, but also see its filename numbered as the first. Now I cannot help wondering, could there be more than one?

Saved.

it's shit, if this thread is still up by the time I get home I'll tell you why

Well you want a well rounded team, so that you have a wide range of options with each roll per turn.

Eh, who needs that overrated radioactive shit. Give me iron any day.

>Sand arbitrarily split from Earth while Rock isn't
>Electro instead of Electricity or Lightning
>Fauna existing
>Flora and Growth are the same fucking thing
>Substance existing
>Bomb
>Void when Dark already exists
>You have Life-related elements but no Death
>Missing a neutral/standard type
>Presenting all this bullshit as fact

elements basically go into two categories when it comes to combat: shit that seems harmless at low level, and shit that starts with some destructive power but doesn't end up being terribly versatile. water and fire are the obvious examples of each

Generally I prefer versatility, so I go for stuff like metal in tabletop settings

can I get uuuuuuuuuuhhhhhhhhh

radioactivity's already covered with poison, and something akin to an atom bomb is usually reserved for gods/godly pyromancers

>vox
Yaya, best element

>implying absence of everything is Darkness

>Oganesson
nani the fuck

>implying absence of everything is a valid element to be in control of

Cold is absence of heat
Dark is absence of light
Don't be silly user

rolling for heavy metals

Sand is the epitome of dryness, it's not an Earthtype. Same as how Water epitomises wet, Fire and Ice for hot and cold and so on. Earth is weight. Get on the level.

>Electro instead of Electricity or Lightning
So you know nothing about how people get pissy if you say Electricity or if you say Lightning then.

>Flora and Growth are the same fucking thing
That actually made me laugh, I don't have to read the rest of this.

R A D O N

Rollin'

>>Void when Dark already exists
my guess is that
dark = shadows, darkness
void = nothingness

cold isn't usually an element, ice is
dark and light are both based on alignments generally, not actual light and shadow.

Correct, you aren't retarded like that user

Also correct

>these shitty list
Fire
Ice
Lightning

>Impregnable walls
Your "Impregnable Wall" literally can't even stand up to a brisk autumn afternoon.
You missed the best application of ice, which is freezing (and therefore expanding) water in tight places to break locks, split any porous material, or explode cells.
