The nu-metal music sucks but the game is kinda fun. I know you can switch to instrumental versions but I kinda miss the music from the first one.

The aesthetic is pretty shit and I can't think of a map that really stands out that makes me say I like that particular one but it's a pretty fun game still.

KF2 is a travesty and I'm glad i had a chance to refund this piece of shit after it released despite me playing for 40 hours

Here are my gaming credentials, officer. Is that good enough for you, retard? The only HoE achievements I'm missing are Santa's Workshop and Shopping Spree because I haven't played it in a while.

Keep in mind I'm not saying it's bad, I just think it's a mindless game and if I actually want to feel challenged I'd much rather play KF1 any day, which is why I'll always think it's better than 2. Perks were watered down in 2 and it no longer feels like a proper game with team cooperation because just about anyone can pop out their upgraded T4/T5 and kill a Scrake or FP/QP like they don't give a fuck if they want to.

I mostly play with pubs and occasionally with friends, but I can't stop a retard from trying their hardest to ignore that someone who is good at 2 can think 1 is still better, if that's what helps him sleep at night.

Why do I keep getting kicked out of Normal/Hard when I'm level 0 I mean I can do suicide in kf 1 without any levels is it really that much harder than the first?

I'd never kick someone out of normal/hard as I can solo hard mode pretty easily even if you all die.

If you think soloing 6 player HoE is easy then congratulations you're the .01%.
Even the best streamers occasionally die in 6 player HoE with teammates alive.

Well yeah, I'm not saying I'm unkillable, but I do relatively often find myself needing to clutch out a wave where everyone else died. The issue I have with 2 is that you can just outrun or outheal most things. The only threatening thing there is to clutching out a wave is having a bunch of Fleshpounds and Quarterpounds who spawned when all 6 players were alive and now you have to face them at 6-player-health all by yourself, though that's provided you are one of the perks that has more trouble dealing with them like a Commando, because if you are a Medic or a Zerker, you are laughing the whole way through.

Ive actually played zombies for years and just got kf2 because i gave up on black ops 4. I think the game is much better than zombies, at least gameplay wise. The only thing zombies has is lore (at least bo2 and before) and the overall aesthetic (which was thrown out in bo4)

as a zerker main it's good that they actually added a boss that sort of counters zerk (abomination) but it's such a garbage fight that it doesn't really matter

Definitely one of the better maps. Some areas are cramped and spawn a lot of monsters at the same time, but it is fair compared to another map which I forgot the name of, powercore?
Visually also pleasing. In total a 9/10.

It has multiple holding spots and an intuitive kite route. No useless and annoying gimmicks like monsterball or airship. Not a deathtrap like descent, nightmare or powercore. No annoying objectives. I'd say it's probably the best map in the game now level design wise.

They nerfed poison gas and the poo minions recently. You can't die against the abomination unless you get cornered.

Huh, you guys actually bring up some good points. I guess it just felt weird to not have to struggle against map design for the majority of a given run. I'll fully admit to liking those Halloween and summer maps, though. Even if it's just some weird gimmicks I like the weird shit.

game got to easy after early access, i still miss hans killing you with one combo or throwing explosive grenades earlier also unless they overhaul the perk system survivalist will always be trash so their are most likely change it to a scientist perk

In fairness what I really love about the game is that turning up the difficulty actually changes zed behavior, for instance on suicidal and above husks will torch you at close range and will kill you in seconds if you're not a firebug.

Also having a good firebug on your team that tanks husk shots is the best

Some of the weekly challenges are hard difficulty but recommend level 15+. Make sure your not joining something like that

Fucking annoying map to play on HoE. Constant spawns around the corners and drop downs. So many times FP/QP spawn in sight as I turn the corner. Layout is fine, but spawns make it a trash map.

I'm still so angry the survivalist even exists that I don't think anything they could do to it would change my mind.

The survivalist is already pretty good. The only thing they really need to change are the zed time skills because both of those are crap.

Can someone explain to me why the 9mm ammo pool was nerfed from 255 to 105, I enjoyed using it for most of the wave to stock up on dosh whenever my teammates don't share.

Initially, they were going to put in a martial arts perk with probably suitable weapons. But that got scrapped and turned into what we have now, the "I can use anything class" survivalist. Quite a bummer, I was hoping to have throwable shurikens or weapons in the style of Shadow Warrior 1. But I'm not as mad as others.

Its not though. The first game has more iron sights, while the second just trys to jam shitty red dots on things.

Jack of all trades perk that is limited to using very few good offperk weapons; and is further restricted by the level 5 skill.
They sure succeeded at their goal of making the most boring class.

That's exactly why I'm calling it a lazy, half assed cop out. The Commando was already the jack of all trades perk with class weapons and the support was the jack of all trades with its carry weight increase allowing weird loadouts.

It was supposed to be another melee class to complement the berserker. Tripwire devs wore the pins with the class icon at cons and even featured the class icon on the steam trading cards and then were big enough faggots that they claimed it was never really confirmed so they didn't break their word by removing it and adding survivalist instead. I wouldn't be so pissed if they just fucking manned up and apologized.

I also would have greatly preferred if the swat used a riot shield instead of their one note bullet hoses (the swat is the only current perk with one loadout/playstyle) but at least that was never really hinted at.

That's the spawn system in general. They must have fucked up somewhere because monsters can spawn literally around any corner and even in your back when there is a pole or something "blocking" the line of sight behind your back.

One has better maps and INSULT PLAYERS. I think I joined more modded servers in that than kf2 though.

I really never understood the reason for having all of the tacticool sights. Id be ok with choosing your own sights for every gun, but id most likely prefer to go iron sights only all around.

Spawn system has been buggered for over a year, however there are things you can do to prevent the corner spawns for the most part and this map doesn't use them.

Having a riot shield for the swat would be incredible. Especially if you could wear it on your back and deflect damage when you have another weapon. But even without that id use it all the time, amd would play swat more in general. He needs more, and a shield is badass

Even then, the survivalist is only "required" as a jack of all trades class because of their rework of the leveling system which completely dis-incentivizes offperking weapons. And on top of that, the first fucking survivalist perk does a great job of making it not even feel like a jack of all trades since you're already restricted to half the weapon list

Why didn't they make the berserker more interesting? Could have given him some cool tech like dark messiah, but instead it feels like skyrim still. Poking with claymore is the most skill based thing he can do.

Negligible when we have perks with skills like "Fallback" and stacking headshots with Sharpshooter and Gunslinger. Its more important to sharpshooter above anyone else since primaries have small ammo pools.

I asked about things like that in the Q&A they did not long ago. Like SWAT having riot shield and baton combo or Gunslinger having dual machine pistols or dual shotguns. Diversifying weapon loadouts for otherwise pretty strict classes.

Didn't answer me so I doubt it's on the table.

I'm only gonna say it one more time, it's mostly shit and the only thing it has going for it is the freezy and electric guns which are actually pretty rad.

It does? I feel it's the complete opposite, they give you a lot more freedom in this game since you can level for multiple perks at once so even using off-perk weapons will give you small bits of EXP.

4 Demolition and 2 Support.

A shame really. I think the gunslinger could do with at least one full auto weapon to dual wield. Micro uzis. Something. And a shield could really spice up the swat. Especially if it has some good bash/ deflect power.

Expected to play it way longer but only got 40 hours. Had fun playing grenadier as the german character but the game crashed for no reason way too often for me.

Riot Shield + Machine Pistol would the dream combo for me.

You can already blow through Rack'em Up with the dual AF2011-A1s since they fire two bullets at a time. Just balance so it only counts two or a single pellet, I guess.

For the swat you can't go wrong with an mp40 or ppsh-41. Commando needs another lmg. Seems how they're adding $2000 weapons i can see them adding a heavier machine gun like an m240 or m60. A Val, Aug, or Xm8 would be cool too.

I wouldn't really be able to tell you what it was like compared to now I don't pay much attention to patch notes and the few things I immediately seek out, but it certainly seems like a strong weapon given the alt-fire can delete Scrakes outright (at least on Suicidal, I'm not savvy with HoE but I assume it would with fewer players) and chunks bosses.
I mostly run it for the fun aspect over whether or not its an amazing weapon desu.

The first game was about control. You lose control and you either wipe or fall back on kiting until you can regain control. The second is about managing a constant shitfest. Sure, it feels good to punch a scrake in the face and slip out of a deteriorating situation, but that pales to manipulating zeds into creating space for you to slip through. Also Tripwire is determined to force as much garbage in as they possibly can. Long-lasting area denial (or outright "fuck your armor" if you can't leave) from alpha crawlers, gorefiends that take FOREVER to kill if you have anything that can't take off their head in one shot or dump on their body, the absolute dogshit that is Krampus as a permanent boss, and their latest hot faggotry in the god damn robots. In particular, a zerk taking several seconds to kill a gorefiend or bloat or being able to do absolutely nothing to a robofaggot if they don't have a katana feels absolutely fucking terrible and it happens constantly.

Honestly it's a good question. Id say it just depends. Do you want to shoot continuously or do you want a huge burst of damage but you need to reload right after? The doomstick is still a great weapon but so is the m4

kf1 was more punishing since everything was pretty bare bones.
if you got grabbed by a clot, you usually were fucked if you were non-zerker.
parry wasn't a thing so all zerkers had was katana stun spam.
FPs were actually scary because most parties barely survive a single raged FP coming at you.
sirens did a fuckload of dmg and they always came in when shit went south
husks were pretty OP at range if you just let them sit there, not so much up close but if you were an idiot and didn't pay attention to his suicide, you were usually fucked.
multiple spiders could fuck you if you werent paying attention
stalkers were actually fast and would fuck you if teamed up with spiders/clots

in kf2, you can usually be a lot more reckless with the way you play since you have many more options of disposing zeds vs 1.

True to an extent, KF2 does have more balanced classes and most of those points still apply to the higher difficulty's. problem in 2 is that zerks and medics can solo shit too easily, kf1 had this problem too and it's just parts of the game. it's why i find the others classes more interesting, more risk and skill to stay alive.

yeah you're actually punished for kiting in kf2. in kf1, sometimes thats all you had because the whole party died and all thats left is a sharp or zerker running around with a crossbow. it was always epic when someone solo the rest of the map when the whole team couldn't even do it.

I know a lot of people wrote him off as memey but I genuinely enjoy Gary Busey's crazy shit and was pleasantly surprised that they got him to be the Santa for last Christmas. Take the longer range skill, flame everything with your micro or regular thrower. Take the micro for later waves and push back pounds with the alternate shot. The other weapons are neglected by most, but the shotgun is a nice addition to your thrower. You'll get the grip and then call yourself the king.

With the flamethrower specifically, ground fire + aiming at their feet, and don't hold down the fire button, pulse it to conserve ammo. Don't ignite Scarkes or Fleshpounds unless you have Heatwave and need to get them off someone dying, fire does tickle damage to them. Microwave guns like the MVG and Helios are built for the larger Zeds and stuff with metal (Husks, Sirens, etc.) but if you already have a big zed hunter class I wouldn't focus on them. If you use projectile based firebug weapons (MAC-10, Helios in particular), swap ground fire for BBQ since they don't leave residue fire on the ground. Also try not to share lanes with classes that require aiming for finesse like Sharpshooters, sending everything into a panic is liable to tick them off.

I have 800+ hours on medic and literally no idea how the homogoblin works. I'd imagine it doesn't matter where you hit them for applying the debuff and the dot.

I also for the life of me can't figure out how Acidic Rounds and Zedative work. I'm not sure if it's a gradual thing that takes a second to kick in or if you have to exceed a certain damage threshold before the DOT gets applied (when they turn green and start panicking)

Are you me? Way back when everyone was talking about SWAT being a new class I said many times how a baton makes more sense as a melee weapon, and how shields and pistols need to be a thing for swat. They could make multiple kinds of shields for the different tiers, starting with those small round clear plastic British riot shields and going up to full ballistic shields. The shields could be paired with pistols and PDWs, but also have the option of using light melee weapons. A player could block or bash with a shield, and might even be able two handing the shield like dark souls in order to push more effectively (clearing a path with knockdown) or brace against a strong attack. Not only would this better differentiate commando and SWAT, but it would also add another layer to team tactics and builds for other classes

On the topic of martial artist and survivalist, they could have made the martial artist more distinct from the berserk (or at least as much as the current commando Swat dynamic) by making one the finesse class and the other the brute. They could have made martial artist faster and given him a hand full of caltrops as a grenade and melee could have been tekko or steel knuckle gloves or they could have gave it the firebug's melee weapon while giving the fire bug a small hatchet. The class weapons could have been thing like a spear, nunchaku, and throwing weapons.
They even could have made survivalist interesting if they only embraced the idea of a bloody survivalist in an apoc. Give it a bunch of weapons that can be used by others like a SKS, a liberator pistol, and bear trap deployable, but don't just give it existing guns. Make its melee a hatchet or crowbar, make its grenade something like smoke that just slows zeds down without damaging them. Do something interesting.

Meme-tier babyfleshpounds from a mutator added to regular survival just because, and have them spawn on boss wave for shits and giggles. Versus mode flops. Game balance problems of the first game like mindlessly running circles as zerk/medic are even worse in the second game. "RNG spawns" so players can get scrakes and fleshpounds on wave3 or 5 just because. Dev circlejerk with "community" who suck up big to corporate land positions at twatwire.

Feels like Payday2 with how the game takes one step forward and three steps back with each update by adding some other shit mechanic that just makes the game more irritating to play. Community is about as toxic too.

Summer Shitshow was amazing.
They had to nerf the robots, they nerfed a quad-barrel shotgun into oblivion so the Boomstick became stronger than the new gun with more barrels you can shoot simulteanously.

They are combat D.A.R.s, unlike zeds their weak spot is not their head but their core. You can blast their head off and they will do just fine but even a well placed pistol round can deactivate them.
They are very useful if they are in crowded areas, since killing them in the proper way is like a free EMP grenade and stuns all enemies in a 5 meter radious. Also use missile launcher EDARs to knock out big zeds.

However later in the Halloween update they buffed it again, I think it now has more ammo.

I've tried this game for a few hours now, both solo and with a friend and no matter the map we can clear the first waves but then always get destroyed by any boss. I have had no trouble with a bunch of other hardcore games so it's confusing why I'm awful at this game in particular. Do you have to max out the perks or something before this becomes playable?

If it still works I might. Id like to really get back into the game for HoE and challenge modes and after leveling firebug legitimately I feel justified perk training for skins. Its the fucking worst playing suicidal/HoE with people who bought the game, perk trained and are running around blowing ammo on clots wave 1.

Zerk/Medic/Gunslinger > Everything else > Survivalist.
Increased movespeed and health regen are broken since you can get away with more mistakes and run circles infinitely around the map. Gunslinger lacks health regen and requires more aim compared to zerk and medic though. Survivalist isn't even a real perk.

EDARs should have just been a boss from the begging. Make 3 larger variants of the EDARs and have it so you take on 3 mini-bosses at once. Weaker EDARs could then replace zed spawns for the round

Survivalist gets 25% runs peed with melee weapons. That, the elite reload with heavy weapons, the medic nades and the damage resistance make him infinitely more useful at clutching and running circles than swat, support, firebug, demo or commando.

Is there a reason to play swat over commando? I dont really have a handle on what classes are for aside the obvious ones (demo/SS/gunslinger kill big things etc)

Is there even a reason to weld in KF2? In 1 I was WELDING THIS DOAR often in order to control the flow of enemies, but in KF2 it seems like an afterthought, even with being able to fix doors and having demos put bombs on them.

you have an easier time with scrakes and can mow down trash a bit faster

SWAT is a filler perk if you have already a Commando, so you can avoid unnecessary double ZED time extensions and profit from trash clearing abilities after hitting 25 on one position while the Mando clears/extends on the other.

You got me there on the molotov, but the passive dmg resist makes armor last longer than SWAT's. Also, the ability to pull out a knife and go fast comes in handy.

Why does KF2 have like next to no custom servers? I really enjoyed those back in KF1 and there's almost none in KF2. Do people not mod the game as much as they modded KF1 or what? I miss the turrets, RPG system, and new Zeds that custom servers had.

Reload cancelling is cancer and should have stayed gone.

No one plays on custom servers, so no one really runs them.
Friend and I run a Zedternal server for months already and it barely has anyone showing up, the standard Endless/Survival servers are filled most of the day tho.

I didn't play it in beta but it's insane

that's weird, in KF1 it was the opposite. Custom servers were extremely popular and still are in KF1.

SWAT is undefendable, it's playable and that's pretty much it nobody is trying to defend it.

The biggest joke about SWAT is that he's just a sub-machine guy while the Survivalist can actually play with a proper SWAT loadout that ranges from SMGs/ARs to Shotguns with even the Pulverizer and have bonuses on all of those.

Before the summer update shitshow 101+401+katana+dbs was the meta medic loadout.

You can go with any weapon with zerk if you just learn their own combos.
Claymore is still viable, now there is a nu-Dwarf Axe that sends anything to the shadow realm in 2-3 heavy hit combos, and there´s also the powerfists, EMP stuns zeds, hits like a truck and are quite fast.

That loadout is still viable (and arguably the most fun) but damn it the 501 has helped me carry some of the shittiest HoE pubs I've ever had the displeasure of running into.

That loadout unfortunately doesn't work anymore because they increased the weight of the dbs and the katana. Now you pretty much have to decide if you want to get a melee to derage fleshpounds safer, to get the dbs for utility or to get the xbow for fp/sc killing power. Not really a fan of the 501 desu but it definitely works.

Sharpshooter probably, since it usually get's outclassed by Funslinger and because it covers a quite specific role, even Demolitions covers more ground that him.

Support is simply not interesting enough of a perk and is only strong when played with the 30% damage skill.

Game is far from dead for being a 5 years old horde shooter, general died in the early access period, when there was barely any comunication with the devs and updates were very slow with little content.

Sharpshooter sucks because the classes weapons suck. The centerfire is usable by GS as well. The class needs a bolt action rifle or something interesting to use.

5k players at all time is fine for a COOP shooter that requires only a couple of people each match.
The only people who notice a low population are the ones playing HOE probably.
