I really NEED to play a MMO. I've played GW2 and FFXIV and left them for very strong and good reasons, i'm not going back. Is BDO worth it? Combat, visuals and character creator looks very nice.

P2W Korean shit. Go back to FFXIV while you can.

I won't let it die without at least one opinion.

Fuck no, it's the most pay to win mainstream Mmo by a long shot and even the regulars just ERP in it. It's literally TERA tier and the general can confirm this for you. There's no content, just infinite mob grind and rng enchanting (enjoy your 2% chance to upgrade an item in a game where stats are everything)

FFXIV sucks hairy ass. It is P2W or P2Convenience?

what kind of mmo are you looking for exactly?

From what i've seen stats only matter if you want to PvP and i just want PvE (kill some mobs) and do the housing stuff, fish, gather resources and stuff.

More PvE focused, with progression tied to gathering resources and killing shit. Good character creation and good looking skins too.

It has the best combat of any mmo I've played, unfortunately it's very grindy. You don't get experience from quests only from combat.

There's a ton of things to do but the main focus is to make silver because the amount of silver you spend is ridiculous.

The visual are nice; the only problem is that the armor sets look like garbage unless you pay money for the skins to go over top which is like $35 bucks each so it can get pretty expensive. You can buy the skins with ingame currency but they go fast on the auction house and are pricey. Also there is not player to player trading so everything has to be bought off the marketplace.

It matters for pve too as you'll arbitrarily not do any dmg or even hit the target without stats.

I like grinding, but it is like too heavy? Can you play on your own and still acquire enough gold and materials to do the stuff you like?

BDO is good if you ignore the chat, and play it with a friend or by yourself. Ignore all tards tell you the game sucks. If there was a place to ask a question about a game, Yea Forums is the place where you want someone to tell you the answer while you're balls are getting electrocuted, and the answer is so quiet you can only here the sound of your balls getting zapped.

BDO is very much not worth it. it's an endless grind with no max level or end game.

>but it is like too heavy? Can you play on your own and still acquire enough gold and materials to do the stuff you like?
"stuff you like" is just continuing grinding. There is not much else to do in the game. Yes, you can play on your own, rather, you will probably have to. People don't group up very often.

Adding to this, there is no dungeons or any sort of progression outside rng enchanting gear. Lifeskills just exist to make you money so you can afford your rng enchanting

Absolutely awful. It had some nice elements going on like PvP but there's just SO much fucking grinding involved in everything that it's just impossible to enjoy anything, that plus some random shitty design decisions like the marketboard or enemies being retarded sitting ducks unable to react to anything you do, making grinding horribly boring. The game will get you to buy items in the cash shop or else you won't be able to compete with everyone else, and even with that it'll take you months to catch up. You'll also unironically have to have you pc turned on 24/7 afk grinding when you're not playing, that's how grindy it is.
Kakao is also SHIT at managing the game, just recently they've fucked up again by wrongly banning dozens of people... Stay away from this shit.

There just aren't any good MMOs out there atm. I'll personally wait for WoW classic this summer, despite all its flaws and being a 20yo game I'd highly recommend you try it out if you want an actual MMORPG experience, especially if you never played old WoW before.

Mostly P2Convenience but you could argue some of the paid shit is SO convenient that it's almost necessary to progress and keep up with people. Infact that is exactly what it is. So essentially it is P2W.

I'm surprised they managed to unban the innocents this time.

Aside from character creation the only modern, non pay2win game that even comes close to fitting that bill is Destiny

You're fucked user.

Personally I'm going back to FF14 soon, until classic WoW comes out.

FF14 is simply the best WoW clone right now.

I think its only $5-10 so its not too expensive to try it out. Like I said before it does have some of the best combat for an MMO, unfortunately there's not much in terms of end game outside PVP.

I got lucky as I was able to buy all my outfits for my characters with silver before the jacked up the prices.

If you're into competitive pvp don't get into it unless you're willing to spend thousands of hours and money.

Fuck, from all the responses, this game seems like a hard pass then. Fuck, i'm really tired of playing games alone.

Why do you think everyone is so doom and gloom about mmos recently? There's no good ones to play

PSO2

This game in particular doesn't even reward group play until you reach the end game which will take you thousands of hours if you're not willing to pay.People will literally PK you so they can grind alone because that's the best way to get exp and loot.On a fucking MMORPG

Any reason why you left the only two good MMOs on the market?

This. PSO2 easily has the best gameplay out of any MMO out there.

ERP partner quit

Combat is spammy and Character creator is limited by class. I.E. You want a muso? have to be an asian guy

Those are your only options for good MMOs.GW2 is becoming Anets focus again and they're increasing their teams in all facets of the game which is great.BDO isn't even a B2P game once you've experienced GW2.It's almost offensive how aggressive its monetization is and it's so sad because the game;s combat is fantastic.
Try it if you just want to waste time but DO NOT expect to be able to PvP or reach end-game anytime soon

And what's super sad is there is no visual progression in the game, there's no armor skins or anything, you have to pay like 30 bucks on the cashshop for costumes instead. I played for a few months after launch and man was I disappointed
