>900$ on Amazon new
Who’s ready in a few years to be the cool guy who owns this beauty? Wii U is already gaining cult classic vibes.
>900$ on Amazon new

I could see its value rising due to being a god-tier hacking machine
How much can I sell one at used (acceptable) condition?
this
I have a Wii U lying around and I want a PS4
Thats because NIB collectors are autistic and pay that price
How hard is it to hack? I’m buying a used one who is basically brand new soon.
what game should I get next xenoblade chronicles x, tokio mirage sessions, or the wonderful 101?
easy as piss to hack, there's a guide that's idiot proof. You just need an SD card (I recommend a 64gb+ one so you can install things more quickly/easily); you can still play online on a hacked system, but don't be an idiot and go online in mariokart with a bunch of cheats as it'd undoubtedly get you banned.
XCX, takes forever to beat so may as well get a head start now.
I keep mine to play GBA games with the SNES classic controller
How good is the Wii U for gamecube emulation?
$900 new, I would rather take my chance buying a shitty gamestop refurbished, at least I can return it if it's in bad shape. I should've kept mine but I only had 5 games for it.
Amazing if you hack it everything runs native 60 fps
It doesn't emulate gamecube, it runs native
>zero exclusives U
kek
>emulation
it plays them natively, it just can't read gamecube discs so a hack is required only to install the games (I still don't know why nintendo never put any GCN games on the eshop though). Every game runs flawlessly since it plays them natively, and most games can be played entirely on the gamepad
I have a white Wii U is that "rarer"?
That's just factually wrong fucktard
it's worse
The white one is the the cheaper one
samefag
Nope, niggers. Name as many games as you can that you need a WiiU to play.
get a external hdd for the pirated games tho, internal storage is small af
Wonderful 101
Super Mario 3D World
Nintendo Land
Game & Wario
Affordable Space Adventures
Kirby and the Rainbow Curse
Can I get an uhhhhh XBX and uhhhhh W101?
Whoa 6 games. And all 6 were forgotten 7/10s
Still more than zero, faggot
w101
mario 3d world
xbx
splatoon 1 (it's worth to get it for the campaign)
tokio mirage sessions
>lol no exclusives
>here's some exclusives
>Uh, those don't count sweetie
Seething
Devils Third
Wonderful 101
If you want to play Xenoblade X and TMS, hack your Wii U so you can play them via an uncensor patch.
>dude WiiU is a fucking cult machine! Look at these games you can fit in your hand no one cares about
WiiU will not be remembered. Same for other games listed.
Nobody asked for your opinion kiddo
Can it play Wii games? I never played the first Xenoblade Chronicles and I want JPN voices.
>TFW Pikmin 3, Wonderful 101, Xenoblade X, and Starfox 0.
I knew this garbage would be worth money after a few years
yes. With the gamepad, even
Kay, just remember if everyone's attitude is WiiU is not needed when you can get a Switch now, it will be ever worse a decade from now.
>Own a Wii U
>But the gamepad battery is fucked
Feels bad, man.
>tfw got one with a pro controller and some wiimotes for a $100
>I still don't know why nintendo never put any GCN games on the eshop though
It may have to do with the analog triggers which every controller after the GCN dropped.
Are you having a stroke?
very few GCN games require those, though. Even the games that did use them can still be played with workarounds as well - like how nintendont maps the left shoulder as a half trigger press so you can still play mario sunshine properly.
Nintendo used to sell these but they were uncommon, not advertised at all and are probably overpriced as all hell now.
>probably overpriced as all hell now.
can confirm. Wish I got one when they were selling them off cheap at some store a few years ago. Now they're ridiculously rare to find and about ten times the price. Regular battery capacity of the gamepad is dogshit as well and it noticeably wears out over time on top of that.
Protip: DO NOT USE THE GAMEPAD WHILST CHARGING IT
what is censored? I want to play them, but I also like to collect
>Protip: DO NOT USE THE GAMEPAD WHILST CHARGING IT
Ha ha you're about 7 years too late telling me that
At least the charging cables are still reasonably priced, I had to replace the one I had since launch since it frayed right at the base of the plug and stopped working.
>At least the charging cables are still reasonably priced
doesn't it use the same charger as a 3DS or something?
Nope, it has it's own special cable
Xenoblade X
>Removed and/or altered some outfits
TMS
>Removed swimsuits and censored a dungeon since that was a bout gravure photoshoots in swimsuits
>Hot springs DLC removed
If you want to talk Fatal Frame 5
>Removed the swimsuit outfits and replaced them with Samus' Zero Suit outfit and Zelda's dress
If you want to play those 3, play them with the uncensor patches

It's ok, user. Just enjoy your xbone with the 6/11 games being kinect shovelware
It's similar but different. Not really a fan of how the adapter itself is on the middle of the cable, the Switch rectified that.
Guess it helped in the end though since it made me play unplugged a lot more.
this guy knows
and I have done it myself. it's piss easy, and wii-u-usb-helper will not only let you download games from nintendo directly, but it will also fix them on your sd care to make them playable.
>play them with the uncensor patches
Can you unpatch the game itself?
Why shouldn't i play while charging?
Also the chinese large battery for Wii U off ebay work fine, been using it for about two years now.
>high capacity
>2500mAh
fucking nintendo, my phone has a 3000mAh battery in it, step your shit up.
>Why shouldn't i play while charging?
fucks the battery. Always charge with the screen turned off and not in use.
Not true. Only the original Wii runs GC games.
Fatal Frame Wii U
Nvm disregard this, this user is right
If your Wii U is hacked, I think so. Talking actual patches you download from Nintendo's servers, you can delete it from settings via the memory section.
Applying the uncensor patch can only be done by hacking the Wii U.
To be fair, Nintendo has been pretty good about battery life compared to competitors. PS4 Dualshock has 1000 mAh with a bunch of battery-draining gimmicks while both WiiU/Switch Pro controllers have 1300 mAh and last much longer.(although I notice the Switch controllers needing a charge more often)
Original Gamepad battery was 1500 mAh IIRC.
Sounds good. I have 2 out of 3 of those, so patching them would be nice.
wii u pro has 80 hours of battery while switch pro has 40
>tfw have a sealed phyiscal copy of New Super Luigi U and Pikmin 3
I knew this day would come
You can buy a larger battery for the gamepad as well.
just buy a $40 wii
NES Remix 1 & 2
You can buy them used from gamestop and working for like 90 usd lol.
wait, that's how much a wii u is worth? I have one that I've only played xenoblade chronicles X on
Oh yeah I forgot they did a 3DS port
Is Wii U the most ported Nintendo system?
I could see Pikmin 3 becoming a very expensive game in the future unless it gets a Switch port, and it is one of the least probable 1st parties for that because of the game's heavy reliance on the Gamepad.
They did do Captain Toad though so who knows.
New old stock is always expensive as fuck, 2nd hand drops the price significantly.
Your phone has 16 times the resolution of the gamepad, and a faster processor.
Can you post the guide?
Unfortunately you can't hack both the Wii U and Wii portions with the same external hard drive because of how the Wii U formats them. I only have the Wii U part hacked.
Yeah. But does it have soul?
google wii u hack guide, first result
fairly sure it actually is possible, but complicated and I've never attempted it as I've no reason to do so
>Nes Remix 3DS
>Wolly Word 3DS
>Hyrule Warriors 3DS
>Captain Toad 3DS
>Smash 3DS (technically not a port but whatever)
I think so.
>tfw the Wii U was the last Nintendo console with soul
Just listen to the eShop music and look at this
youtube.com
Its $80 in good condition from gamestop
Or amazon.
This isnt some weird obscure console, it sold as much as the gamecube and got emulated/hacked while nintendo was still releasing the best games for it. Zoomers are so fucking retarded
>Xbox One (11)
Kek
I miss the Nintendo soulfull underdog days.
NEVER EVER!
Do you still need to buy brain age to hack your wii U?
Why did Nintendo buy that ip, just to kill it?
>sold as much as the gamecube
>Wii U
13.56 million
>GCN
21.74 million
GCN didn't do so hot (almost a tie with the Xbox) but it's not as embarrassingly bad as the Wii U.
If you want cold boot, yes.
Any of these DS virtual console games will work but Brain Age is the cheapest at $6.99
What is cold boot?
I just recently got a used wii for $50. Did I do good?
>$50
You got ripped off, I see them at thrift stores all the time for around 20
>need
no, cold boot is a luxury not a necessity for hacking
>Xbox One (11)
>9 are shovelware
That’s goddamn AMAZING.
Nothing. They sell original Wiis for $10 more at gamestop because literally no one wants a Wii U. Only thing that makes me miss my Wii U is Sm4sh and Super Mario 3D World. Wii U was an ugly, stupid, and slow to boot hunk of plastic.
t. former Wii U owner.
They did that with a bunch of major releases.
youtube.com
It's a shame soul doesn't sell consoles.
>Mfw now all the stores are selling clones as the official ones
I wish I got one when I can, the included battery is not that bad but my battery overheated like 2 years ago, now I'm using a generic one which works like the original but it drains in 40-50 minutes, it's a little bit annoying playing with the charger attached but at least it have a long cable
This is the kinda shit you walk in place like a Dragon's Quest character to.
Did you guys not play Twilight Princess? That's Malo Mart.
People are stupid. More at 11
user they're like $100 on ebay
Apparently they don't know memes either or maybe we just got double reverse baited.
I beat that game once 9 years ago.
>god-tier hacking machine
Yeah a $500 laptop could do that user. Emulators have come a long way and they can run on the toasters of today.
100 to 150 dollars. You lose most of your resell value if the package is opened.
Basically it launch the exploit when you turn on your console, but there's a high risk of loosing your console since it uses a DS game, if something happens to the game then you are fucked
So basically you need the DS game if you want to use the CFW off-line or use Coldboot
you can get a wii u for a lot less than that, also good fucking luck getting every gcn and wii game to run flawlessly in dolphin. Don't get me wrong, dolphin is fantastic but it is not a flawless emulator. Don't even get me started on the nightmare of connecting wiimotes to dolphin
The only flaw is what about Gamepad batteries?
Apparently Nintendo has discontinued the Wii U batteries.
Holy SHIT the PS2 was a beast.
I got a WiiU with thirty-five gigs for under one hundred dollars.
I just boot it manually, not worth the risk of doing cold boot and it's not like it takes much longer to tap an icon when you turn the console on
To be honest I didn't check wiiU prices. I sold my PS3 with 80 games for €150 just to get rid of it. I'm sure there are more people like me only with the wiiU.
I got one when they were current for around 30 bucks, but only few retailers had them and only online. Not sure why Nintendo didn't advertise them, I guess they were embarrassed about the 4 hour battery life of the original battery.
I wish more controllers had the option of official replacements, for example I'd love to get a better PS4 Dualshock battery without having to risk getting Chinese bootleg shit.
and still no 3D world yet. Yeah I'm fucking mad.
I'm 100% certain 3D World will get a Switch port eventually, just wait
+Toadette baby mode
Honestly, PS2 was done right which is why it sold really damn well.
>Good marketing
>Can play DVDs and backward compatible with PS1 games
>Games everywhere and had strong 2001 and 2002 with Devil May Cry 1, FFX, Ace Combat 4, Jak & Daxter, Ratchet & Clank, GTA3 and Vice City, etc. Still brought out great games all the way to end of it's lifespan
>First console to have USB ports
I dunno how Sony pulled it off with PS2 but damn PS2 was an impressive console.
Please it's the only good reason to miss my Wii u aside from Sm4sh
Which games WON'T get ported? I'd like to make sure I got notable good exclusives before this turns into another Saturn or Dreamcast scenario where bargain bin turns into triple digits.
Wonderful 101 probably won't
Game & Wario definitely won't since it wouldn't work without the gamepad
just play ultimate, bro
the switch library is mostly the same as the wii u's and people pretend that nintendo's glory days from the snes era are back. make up your minds already.
>Heavy reliance
You can play the whole game with the wiimote, so nah
nintendoland
xcx
#fe
fatal frame
splatoon 1
Can you get Wind Waker and TP on Switch?
Kirby and the Rainbow Curse
Nintendo Land
Pikmin 3
Pushmo World
Splatoon
Super Mario 3D World
Tokyo Mirage Sessions FE
The Wonderful 101
Xenoblade Chronicles X
Gamepad allowed you to seamlessly multitask, there is no way to do that on Switch unless you compromise by having the game pause.
>tfw DS style games are completely dead now
>all those series that will never get sequels
I really liked that the Wii U was essentially an evolution of the DS
Shame almost nobody utilized it's potential besides Nintendo
I have two (the other is backup) and no way am I selling either.
ZombiU and Mario maker did the same thing and look where we are
>Hear the 2DS Xl is shit.
>New 3DS XL is 200+ dollars.
What is the fucking meaning of this?
Even Nintendo gave up on the Gamepad after a few years, many of the later games didn't use it for anything. It's a real shame we got so few games that used it for asymmetric multiplayer.
N3DSXL was the only 3DS w/ IPS panel screen.
Nintendo Land, Game & Wario and Affordable Space Adventures all had asymmetric multiplayer and they were great
Know any other games that did it?
Oh and I almost forgot, Zombi U had it. The multiplayer in that game is legit fun
What, really? Is that the reason?
It's mostly party games that experimented with the gamepad, but not many people like those.
It's really easy. All you have to do is install a virus.
Trying to get an IPS screen on a 3DS is like playing the lottery, the chance of getting one seems almost completely random. I got an N3DS XL with a top IPS screen and a bottom TN screen but I've seen plenty that had TN on both.
You can probably kiss anything that has/will be getting a sequel goodbye (Splatoon, Smash, Mario Maker, etc.)
Monolith already said a XCX port isn't in the cards. I doubt Wonderful 101 sold enough to warrant a port, same with TMS#FE and Fatal Frame 5. Any game that heavily emphasized the gamepad as a gimmick (Star Fox Zero, Nintendoland) are probably no-go as well.
Of the games that are still Wii U exclusives, the only two I feel still have a strong chance to be ported are Super Mario 3D World and Pikmin 3.
I will forever be mad at the Switch port for robbing the Wii U version of BotW of any gamepad functionalities like WWHD and TPHD had.
I feel like Yoshi's Woolly World still applies, as a 3DS port hardly makes a home console game obsolete. TPHD is also notable for being the best version of that game while WWHD is debatable.
As for third parties, I seriously doubt Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate will ever get another console port, and the Wii U version is superior over the 3DS version. Too bad 4U never got the same treatment.
let's be real here, they're both soulless.
ITT: "I don't know what Asking Price means"
>Wii U was an ugly, stupid, and slow to boot hunk of plastic.
Fuck off. Literally the best 8th gen console.
No need for shitty disc installs.
No day 1 50GB patches.
100% Backwards compatability, even using your wii video/component cables and sensor bar.
Competent Web browser.
Actual console exclusives so good that they sent them to 3DS/Switch from the sinking Wii U ship.
It was only dumb fuck kids who ignored it from falling into the Sony and mountain dew marketing
199.99 is the MSRP for N3DSXL.
N3DS were $99-120
N2DSXL is like $160 msrp
>No need for shitty disc installs.
>No day 1 50GB patches.
This
i liked the wii u, but let's be real, it had some serious problems.
>slow as molasses ui that took forever to load.
>one of the worst, most ill-conceived marketing campaigns ever. nintendo unintentionally misled people into thinking it was a peripheral for the wii instead of a new console.
>it lagged a generation behind on hardware AGAIN, ultimately costing it almost any third-party support beyond old ports, and those quickly disappeared after it didn't sell well.
>not enough games took advantage of the gamepad for things like asymmetrical multiplayer, or stylus-centric gameplay like many ds games had.
Hardware power wasn't the problem. Devs just refused to work in it because they couldn't drop uncompressed assets and would have to put effort into working with the hardware.
The architecture of the Wii U goes back all the way to the GameCube and Wii, yet these faggot developers still said it was hard to work with. Shitty AAA games like ass effect and cod appeared.
The console hardware was good.
The game pad and controller layout were good.
It's only morons that made it look bad and devs that shit on it because it required effort.
>internal storage is an absolute joke, even on the most expensive model
>gamepad is underused, bulky and has shit battery life and the not even the "pro" model comes with a standard controller
>still no ethernet port, so online was a terrible experience because even if you had a LAN adapter, most players didn't
>the only way to fix these problems was to buy more and more peripherals, bringing the price up to or above the price of actual current gen consoles
