ITT: Games better than Persona 5

I tried playing this and it was fucking terrible, I couldn't even bring myself to finish the first dungeon section after listening to that same fucking track for over half an hour.

It's extremely slow. The combat is neat but it's bogged down by boring story

Imagine playing P3/4/5 except the game is much slower, there's a lot more superfluous dialogue, way more cutscenes, and your social links have even less of a payoff. It's also somehow easier than even P4.

>What's the gameplay like?
Running around a school with about 100 students in it and beating them up or befriending them. Except the befriending thing is that every one of those students has a friendship level which you raise by talking to them and getting one of a handful of generic lines shared by other students, and then the friendship level gets locked at 3 until you do a request for them, like bringing them an item or doing a request for someone else first. And sometimes the students get corrupted so you have to beat them up in battles to make them go back to normal.
The combat gameplay is you starting each battle with full SP and inputting up to three actions in a turn, like kicking an enemy into the air and then shooting them as two actions. Every action costs SP and if you run out before the battle is over you need to spend time tediously recharging it with an action for that. Every single action gives you a preview of how the turn will play out which then requires a confirmation before inputting the next action, for some reason. Then when you initiate the turn it plays out painfully slowly with no speed-up function available.
That's all I can comment on.

The visuals look at lot better, at least. I get that Overdose tried to mimic the style of the character artwork but it just looks way too severe and removes detail from the models instead, like the guy with the sweater vest having the stitching on that become near impossible to see in Overdose.

Atelier is for the most part a quality series and Nelke isn't bad unlike the last several main entries.

I'd blame falcom general more honestly. That place is beyond redemption and constantly defends even the shittiest aspects of every kiseki game.

Should I start with Rorona or Ayesha?

No romance. The gameplay is a brilliant battle system in theory with hit or miss execution brought down by absolutely terrible everything else. When the battle system works, it's probably the most rewarding and satisfying combat I've experienced recently. Too bad you'll be spending 75% of the time being frustrated with confusing inventory/equipment systems, tedious copy paste fetch quests, nonexistent difficulty balancing, boring dungeon design, etc. If you don't like Persona/Trails story you won't like one. Music is 10/10 though.

Why is it called Caligula?
Is it like the film starring that guy from Clockwork Orange?

Both of those are good entries but Rorona is more slice of life while Ayesha has more story to it. But Rorona's sequels are decent while Ayesha's sequels sucked dick. Rorona has more complex alchemy, Ayesha has more complex battles.
Just remember that you want the Plus versions of both, for Rorona because it's a full remake and for Ayesha because the PS3 release is dub-only.

as someone who played Vita, Caligula is mediocre.

I mean the only game in recent memory that I can think that Vita Caligula is superior to would be FF15
