Evidence that it's development isn't deeply troubled. Director Hashimoto was quietly removed from he project and the company and Nintendo felt the need to momentarily acknowledge B3's absence in that recent Direct and try to assuage fears.
Other than that, I want Tag Climax to be expanded, especially since it looks like DMCV might never get Online BP.

B3 is a confirmed prequel. She doesn't have her beauty mark/mole in the teaser. It's canon Bayo lore that Witches get that special mark after a very important event in their lives. Probably something like making her contract with Madama Butterfly or whatever.

No it's not. The beauty mark is a huge part of her character design and Kamiya has directly confirmed it has lore/plot relevance too. Add into that the fact that her guns have new/weird names and there's virtually no other option. It's a prequel.
